Good Morning!!! And faith and be gorey!
Sunday Breakfast buffet and coffee please….., What? A coffee bar?! Wow! Thanks.
Not looking at the weather as I'm mad at them. I wanted sunny and in the 60's yesterday and they wouldn't let me have it.
Grain prices going up. Elevator was destroyed in Sundown! Must have been an earthquake.
Dennis- Layout’s coming along nicely! Oh and in here, there is no need to apologize for imperfect photos or videos. We like the subject matter and unless it was up for an award for the picture or video, you won’t hear a peep from any of us…, unless you ask of course.
I seem to remember someone else dabbling in photo-graffy awhile back.
Oh and Phil, it was Dippity Do (sp?) that had the "little dab‘L do ya" slogan. Still use that reference to this day….”you use it like Dippity Do. Just a little dab'l do ya”. Funny, anymore people just don’t know what I mean. Guess I’m getting old or the world is getting younger.
Which reminds me, I don't use aftershave much, but I’m juuuuust about out of Hai Karate aftershave. Best get some next time I’m in town before I run out.

Good morning. It's 59° with 100% humidity. The high will be 78°.The only thing on my schedule today is layout cleanup. Wanna bet I can't get it done due to interruptions? The newly remotored Atlas FP7 and the new E-R Models FP7 are getting a good run-in this morning as part of a consist of four FP7's pulling a heavy weighted general freight. It's quite a colorful consist. Unmarked gray/RI/BN/Ex-PRR.
Top of the mornin to one and all!
Just a little Irish coffee for me this morning Flo,,,,and light on the coffee with that!
T'day is the day we recognize the Kirby side of me clan, and raise a green to them. And may we all, Irish and otherwise find out pots o gold! Going to lay off the corned beef and cabbage. Gives me the wind, and it aint no Irish Spring!!
Looks dismal and blech outside today, so were going to spend some time at the workbench. I deserve it, I took the wife shopping in Hanover PA yesterday, then came home, donned welding gloves and safety goggles, and proceeded to bathe the cats. Wife thought common rubber gloves would suffice! Hah! Not when a frantic feline is involved! Very glad I wore those, great claw and tooth defense!
Got 4 engines painted yesterday, so today is decal and detail day. I also have to alter the chassis on one, I hate the pilots! It figures, I discovered I hate them after they were painted! Oh well, Mr. Murphy must visit from time to time, can't let Jeffrey monopolise his time!
Prayers for those who need um, plagued, infirmed, tortured, missing or otherwise!

Afternoon everyone!
Chloe, to celebrate the day (although I'm "Orange Irish") I'll have a pint of Guiness, yes the green stuff....
Galaxy.... The second poem you posted always brings a smile to my face! You see the year I left Waverly, on the last day of school a group of little girls in my 5th. grade out in Chemung School gave me a cloth scroll with that poem on it... I still get choked up when I see it!
Went to church this morning just to show my face... Wanted to make sure they remembered me there. For some reason I never seem to get to church during Lent. Always a bunch of other things going on I guess. Today we had a short congregational meeting at the end of the service to formally elect the "New Pastor Nominating Committee". I think they will do a great job for us as they represent the width and breadth of the folks in our church and are all fine people.
Been doing some wash this afternoon and will be heading out to my son's house for dinner tonight. I bet it will be something Irish in nature... Just a thought.
Later!

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010
I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017
Wow, finally got some time and got feeling good enough to catch up. Man did I miss out on a lot or what?.
D.C. trip was fun, but didn't see anything Amtrak related on the NEC, no ACS-64s. A few Amtrak commuters with some VRE trains.
Went to PA's state capitol on the first day. Something else I tell ya, you won't find architecture like that just anywhere.
Gettysburg was after that. It was cold, but just remembering what happened there was cool enough.
Afterward, Arlington. Conditions weather wise weren't any better.
Last on that day were the memorials and monuments. You can look at pictures all that you want, but it isn't until you get up close to them in person do you realize just how BIG they are.
Thursday was mostly on our own. I decided to hang around a friend, Danette (who moved to Towanda during my freshman year) and two others. First, the Holocaust Museum. I can sum it up in one word. Disturbing. Don't know how else to put it. I never originally had plans to go in, but since Danette was looking to go in there, I decided to as well. Natural History museum was next, and that was one place that I was hoping to get to. Afterwards, we went to the Air and Space Museum. Now Danette wasn't originally going to go in, but since I went to the Holocaust Museum with her, she said she would head into the Air and Space Museum with me. After all of that, there was a play that the class went to see.
After that long day, we went to the National Zoo. Didn't see any pandas unfortunately. We then went the whole 5 hours to Binghamton to see a hockey game before getting back here in Towanda. All day yesterday and most of today I was too tired to get on.

Hi Fellas,
Well its another Sunday night and back to work tomorrow. After working close to 50 hours last week I didn't feel like doing anything this weekend. It will be another at least 45 hour week this week. I was going to start weathering a cotton belt boxcar but never got around to starting it, maybe next week.
Nothing planned this week either ( aside for working ) Im heading to the hobby shop on Thursday to pick up a few items from him that he ordered from walthers for me and will stop by the art supply store to pick up some paint brushes and will probably come out of there with more then just brushes, lol. Have been feeling a bit off today, a stomach bug I think. I didn't get much sleep either this weekend as I was up at 2am to watch F1 on Saturday and Sunday morning so im sure that's why im feeling bit off. well Im going to go have a look around on the forums here and then go sit down and watch the Sunday night cartoons ( Cleveland show,Simpsons,Family guy )
I also have to send in a order to one of the hobby shops I order from here for a few freight cars. I try to get three a month from them.
Good - um, Afternoon? Evening? Anyway, Janie, I'll have a bowl of chili with my usual grated cheese and some chopped onions on it, and also a RBF please. Thanks!
Well, I did some more w**k on one of my structures, and took some other photos (the latter partly 'cause I had a question for your opinion on one of 'em) this afternoon. More on that later down here...
Um, uh, Karl... how long do you think it'll be until you see the cat again (other than brief glimpses as the cat darts - very quickly - away, behind a couch or under a table, etc.)? I understand that cats can tend to get verrrrrrryyyyy skitterish/"shy" after one of those baths!
Chochowillie Dennis, you've a good point there, the Diner does seem kinda deserted today (no, Ray, we're not talking about the kind of desert you eat with a fork or a spoon ). Maybe everyone's having a good ol' Irish dinner? After all, Galaxy went to the store to get his fixin's, so maybe others got the same idea? That, or a bunch took naps? Dunno...
Myself, I started out with the intent to take pics of some structure projects (in varying degrees of disarray/non-completedness...), and wound up getting back to my Walther Roberts Printing kitbash project. I found out that the kit instructions talk about parts for the inside of the water tower (that goes on the roof) that I could NOT find anywhere, on any sprue. Might have to email Walthers and suggest that they need to either reprint the directions, or send me the missing parts. I was able to get the water tank sides glued together somewhat, though.
Anyhow, while I'm waiting for my chili, here are a couple of photos of the Roberts Printing kitbash so far. I trimmed the size down a fair bit from the original kit size - one less story, and not as long or deep, either - and I've been having some difficulties with the side corners wanting to come apart. Have tried some smaller reinforcing L's inside the corners, but I may need to add something more. Back side first (the side you see on the layout):
and then here's the front side:
That entryway was a bear to get together, by the way. I still have the stairways for the one side to put on, and the windows to glue to the back of the window frames (all of 'em). I haven't decided what kind of industry it will be (leaning away from printing, to maybe an electronics-related manufacturer or such). Oh yeah, and I have very little done on the roof (which isn't glued down yet, nor is the water tank).
I also have been fiddling with the Main Street Mercantile (pre-fab, they call it) from DPM/Woodland Scenics. I tried to mask off the areas I would be painting 'brick' color (as I did with the Roberts kit), but didn't have great success around the window frames of the Main St. Mercantile building. I have decided that I don't think I will have the flag they show in the kit - I don't recall seeing flagpoles in the position they show it (too high to be reachable from the upper floor, but too low to reach from the roof). Likely, I will heat up a sprue piece and use it to fill in the hole that is where the flagpole was to go.
and here's the back side of the building:
I had bought some black .030 larger sheets for a roof for my Acme Manufacturing building:
but when I measured the "large" sheet against the building, I'm still going to have to put together two pieces (besides a bunch of supports/bracing along the front, back edge and sides) and make the seam (hopefully) not-so-noticeable.
Now, on to the question for my fellow Diners - I tried a quick painting of the 'clapboard' part on the front of this post office/print shop building that will eventualy go in the town where my mine will be. I'm wondering if it seems to w**k, or if any of you have other suggestions. Should I use this idea, or what else instead?
Jake, good to have some additional company in here - the few of us Diners were beginning to wonder where everyone went! Your trip sounded like a very good one (and interesting, to boot!). Where is the Holocaust Museum located - D.C., Maryland, or some other place?
Jeremy, sounds like you have that familiar trade-off - more hours on the job means more MRR , but less time to actually w**k on the MRR/layout, while fewer hours means more time to w**k on the train stuff, but then less money to get whatcha need/want for the layout. Maybe your hours will moderate out a bit, and you can get back to the fun stuff.
Ah, my chili is here, so I'll tend to that for now (and see who else stops by (or would that be, wakes up from their nap?)...
Blessing and prayers,
Jim in Cape G.
Hi,all! 21f and mostly cloudy. Supposed to go into a winter storm warning tonight. Yuck.
Pfc Son called Friday, real good to hear his voice! 1st time since Christmas day. Sounded good but tired. They had just come in after a 3 day mission. Don't know what he was doing, he can't really say. Made my bad day a LOT better, though!
Not much MRR this weekend. Hope to get down there this week. I got another gallon of white glue so ballasting(yuck) can continue.
Pastor Ron got an overwhelming "Yes" vote this morning, so he's locked in for another 4 years. Good.
Buildings are comin' together, Jim. Keep it up!

I got some serious cleaning up done on the layout today, enough so at least I could put together this scene in Sundown, a place so laid back that two horseflys colliding head-on is big news.Looks like Ezra's Exxon and take-out pizza joint is getting some business.
Good Evening...
We actually got some sun this afternoon....
Not much doings on the RR front..got a few new buildings put together and that was about it...spent the afternoon in the studio recording a few things as well...

JimRCGMOJake, good to have some additional company in here - the few of us Diners were beginning to wonder where everyone went! Your trip sounded like a very good one (and interesting, to boot!). Where is the Holocaust Museum located - D.C., Maryland, or some other place?
The Holocaust Museum isn't too far from all of the Smithsonian Museums, and it was a fun trip!
However, I should be getting to bed soon. Night everyone.
Time for me to call it a night. See y'all tomorrow.
Good Evening All,
Those are some great layout pics Terry and Jeff. Terry, that road looks just perfect - so realistic.Jim the buildings are looking good. You could always use the holes in the building for pipes to hang a big sign The plumbing supply I went to had such a sign over their entryway - neon it was on a metal backing about 2 x 4 x 6" thick with substantial pipes to hang it and some guide wires to stop it blowing off in a cross wind. Prolly easier to fill the holes, eh?
Spent the day doing chores as well as getting the bathroom fan working again. Pulled a bedroom closet apart and started redoing it to basically turn it around and open it to the room behind it. My daughter had so much stuff we stole the closet from what will be the guest room and now she's moved out we can put it back as intended.
At least I was able to sneak a few hours on the yard of the layout. Started finishing the tracks and put the drops and buss in for the main yard. Haven't done anything with the freight terminal and LTL area yet as it may require a rethink. Also found two turnouts that have jammed. Probably got some of the dilute white glue into them. When I get a chance, I'll see if some warm water will free them. Time to get some sleep, another big s**n storm predicted for tomorrow. CUL, J.R.
Evening guys
Been busy helping my father pull an engine out of his car. I got in and checked 2 ebay auctions I was watching. I got 2 more good deals. Aside from the BN NW2 I got with sound/dcc for under 100, which i used an ebay 20% coupon combined with selling some stuff (old video games I got as gifts) I wound up paying about 45 the NW2 (with sound and DCC). I snagged 2 details west boxcars (a BN and a blue RI) and 2 con-cor cars (N&W historical society 60' boxcar, and a B&O 100-ton hopper) for a whopping 20 bucks. Wonder what deal hunter would be in german? Something-Jagd or Jagd-Something
Jim, Overall the buildings are neat. As far as painting them, I think it'd be easier to spray the brick color on; then either mask the brick work and spray the trim color, or brush-paint the trim with a small brush. This is of course is coming from the guy who paints the class lights on locos with a silver sharpie...
Terry, I like that whole scene. I think I have that same car (Model Power Barracuda?) in purple laying around here.
Vincent
Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....
2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.
