Hey Robby! Good to see you back!

Forgot to tell you, did you know in Sprngfield they have on a very busy intersection, a left turn arrow light with no left turn lane? Yup. That means, the one guy in the front car who wants to go straight, holds up 15,463 that want to turn left aaaaaaaalll the way through the left turn arrow. Angry shoppers.

Morning All,

Should be at w**k today but took a vacation day. Got home last night after shift and MOH had been vomiting and something else for hours and it continued through the night. She said it's gastritis but my diagnosis is food poisoning from the take out Chinese she had. She has not been able to keep fluids down so I may need to take her to the ER for a IV later. She got mad at me for not going to work but I wasn't  going to leave her alone in her condition.

Karl- Nice looking  BL-2's. I have always thought that they are nice looking engines.

Ken- Nice looking house. I wish you luck. Nice pic of the 0-8-8-0.

Today the high is supposed to be 82 F but tomorrow it is 62 F. Love the weather here.

Hope everybody has a great day and prayers for all those in need.

Good Morning!!!

Coffee and 2 eggs over easy, hashbrowns, 3 strips of maple bacon and……um……TOAST! That’s it whole wheat toast with butter and apple jelly please. Thanks.

Temps slowly rising to about 50° over night from 38°. Currently, 52°. Occasional rain showers before noon, then rain and snow showers between noon and 3pm, then snow after 3pm. Some thunder is also possible. Temperature falling to around 28 by 4pm. Windy, with a south southeast wind 15 to 25 mph becoming west northwest 27 to 37 mph in the afternoon. Winds could gust as high as 60 mph. Chance of precipitation is 90%. High wind warning in effect from 3pm until 9pm with winds speeds exceeding 50 mph. Total daytime snow accumulation of 1 to 3 inches possible....... Local quacks say accumulations less than half, probably closer to ¼”

Aw Galaxy- You know me. It’s not what I pay, or how much my gift I received cost or even the amount. It’s the reactions I get from others that blows my spirit. In her defense, when she asks what I want for Christmas I say “health, a warm place to live, and food to eat. Other than that, I want for nothing. Anything is fine or nothing.” So she really doesn’t know what to get me. Of course after all these years she should know whatI don’t use, such as after shave, and what I don’t wear. Or rather the styles I don’t wear. She truly will get me anything just to get me something. That is something I don't like doing. Like Secret Santa, I don't like that. She is covered with the well I didn’t know what to get you, but I am supposed to be able to read her mind when she’d rather have pie than cake based on which side of her head she touched while at w**k when I’m not even there. She, on the other hand, will tell me what she wants. It’s usually a large item, or fairly expensive (usually both) by my standards anyway. She doesn’t expect just that one thing of course, but THAT is my target. That and a bottle of this perfume which I SWEAR is the worlds most popular because it is always sold out. ALWAYS. Even throughout the year it’s grab a bottle when you can and though no $500 an ounce stuff it isn’t a buck 95 either. Anyway, that is what took all day and gas to look for. This bottle of perfume. I went to pert near every store in town to find that the one type they were out of was the one I wanted. I finally found one small bottle. Mainly glass I think as there are like three digits to the right of the decimal point and none to the left. Only cost 5 bucks too so that means there is probably only one use in there. But the point is, had I not got the perfume, and yes this has happened before, of all the things she gets, regardless of how much, she will say…”where’s my perfume?” No excuses work. I should have thought of that sooner even if it was in June. She will then bring it up for a month on and off, and then, next year before Christmas she will again “mention” the fact she didn’t get her perfume last year. Same with any gift she asks for, or if, as in this year, her gift is rather  large, she only received one gift. As it stands I will listen to how small the bottle was unless I find a store that has restocked between now and Christmas.

I mean for crying out loud, we've been together for like ever and buy most what we want and need throughout the year now that the kids are gone, so what else is there to get to shower someone with presents just because it's Christmas.

Sorry don't mean to sound like a scrooge. I'm really not.

IT HAPPENED!!!!!!    Big SmileYeah    Gas dropped again. Now it’s $2.99. I wonder how far it will go before some bird migrates and they have to raise fuel prices. We will see because I will get fuel this morning. I only need a touch over a quarter tank from my excursion yesterday, but I shall not miss $2.99 nor the opportunity to help my fellow man by not needing gasoline thereby causing the price to drop further. Sorry Lee, diesel is still a bit over $4.00.

HmmOdd how gasoline started out as the unwanted byproduct of diesel with no one knowing what to do with this extremely volatile and dangerous stuff, and now has made it to the point that people actually refer to diesel as the byproduct. Technically I don’t know how that works. I assume the sugar manufacturers say molasses is the byproduct, but if you make molasses, the sugar is the byproduct. So if we start selling more molasses than sugar, ould sugar be the byproduct? Well, I say molasses is the byproduct so…..give me a jar of the first squeezins on the cheap please.

Speaking of treks…..shopping is done.Yup. Had a wee bit of a scare in the desk department, but a quick, well, in Springfield, during the holiday weeks, even on a Wednesday when everyone should be at w**k, there is no quick jaunt ANYwhere, to Staples netted me a better desk AND a savings of about $80 over a competitor. You know, it’s surprising that desks with drawers are rather hard to find. I mean less than like $1000 if you can find one. Office stores are your best bet and they like drawerless w**k station type things. Very limited choices without ordering and well, gotta be there by Christmas. Oh well, wooked out well fow me.

Ya’ll have a good day, ya hear!!!!

And Ray….., if a fill up is 8 or 9 cents, if you don’t, I mean you better, oh you HAVE to just flip them a dime.., even if it’s 23 or 24 cents, flip them a quarter…, wink and say….”keep the change daaahhlin”LaughLaughLaugh. Um unless it’s a guy then well I’d leave the daaahhlin part out.Whistling

Good Morning all,

4 days, 16 hours, and 55 minutes until Christmas.

I won a Mickey Mouse Hallmark ornament last week and I had planned on keeping it at my desk throughout the year, but I just noticed the counter only has a 2 digit display for the days.  I might have to stop at the Hallmark headquarters on the way home and point this discrepancy out to the designers.

Ken that’s a nice house.  You know 140 pound dogs are calmer than a 50 pound dog and 140 pound dogs are lazy and sleep most of the day, and you can teach them not to bark, and…..

Karl, the BL2’s look really good.  My freelance road is black and yellow as well.

I didn’t get to decal the gondolas last night.  I went to the train club’s Christmas Party.  It was a good time.  Dorothy is going to try and go back to work today noon to 2100 so I might have some quiet time to work on decaling.  I’m not a big fan of the Solvaset anymore. I’m using the blue bottle and then the red bottle of Microscale setting solution and I found the decals flow better and last a long time.

I also need to print out some MA&PA decals for one of the club guys this week.

Morning Coffee in the Diner with Friends...

GOOD MORNING!!!

Today is Thursday, December 20th, 2012.

Tomorrow, the world will end!!!

Some think the phrase "For Pete's Sake" comes this way:

Michelangelo di Lodovico Buonarroti Simoni, while working on the Sistene Chapel of the Basilica of Saint Peter during the 16th century, found himself in a quandry when the Pope wasn't paying him his wages.

So, he sent a note to the Pope, requesting payment, "for Saint Peters' sake", hence the term of "for Pete's sake"...

{just passing that one along}

Ken, that is a nice looking house. Have you thought about a long run, put the dog in a harness, and let him run that way? I have had to do this with my two as the deer will feed on the raspberry tips around the kennel area, and I was not going to put up a ten foot high fence. A steel ring with a cable lead, and a 150 foot shot of anchor rode tied between my deck and a oak tree works just fine. The deer and the dogs have come to an understanding. Hope you can make the move. herrinchoker

Sir Madog
Ken - that is a nice looking house with a reasonable rent. That rent will get you a two-room apartment in my town and a dog house in Hamburg. I guess I should move in next door to you!

Ulrich My Friend, I wish you could!

Good Morning!

December 20th! The end is near!

Flo, I am hungry, so the big breakfast platter w/all the works will do, if you please...

According to the weather guessers, there is a pretty good chance for a "White Christmas" in our neck of the woods. We have a southwesterly Low bringing in a lot of moisture meeting a High with Arctic temperatures from Russia right above our heads. Today will stay dry, but dull n´ gray.

After working down the HD lis, I´ll be going to Lothar´s place for some more work on the loco kit. I think I´ll start assembling the body ...

RobbyP - welcome back to the Diner!

Have a good one, folks!

 Evening Dinners!

Flo, I take a Beer and I buy Karl and Rob P a round.

 Karl, I love BL 2's!

Rob, great as usual! Great to see you back!

Work Front, man it was busy today! Services Manager was off, so I made a few extra dollars for a change!

Found a house I like! Now all I have to do is.

1 Sell my wife on it, it is a older house. Guessing 1930's.

2 Sell the owner on the fact a 140 pound dog won't do any damage. (Yep I am screwed)

3 Get the owner to put up a small fences yard, for the 140 pound dog that will do no damage. (doubled Screwed)

 Reason I like it?

1 Closer to work by 5 miles.

Howdy........ I'll have an RBF, please.

Robby ............... Great to see you back. I hope you can get back to being here as a regular. Super good to learn you got your GB&W boxcar back! You had some nice publicityI see. I still have the weathering powders, and I posted a photo of some weathered cars here a few days ago. Not quite as good as yours.

BN24 .... I don't think there ever will be many SP&S models offered. Some of the regional railroads don't have many modelers. I have one SP&S boxcar and that is it for me.

Fergie .... I recall when you were building models while you were at sea. Glad you are well.

Cheers, everybody.

it's okay, I'll probably save more money if I paint and decal locos on my own. Next stop an SP&S F unit trio or duo, an Alco RS1,2,3 varied numbers, and FA1/2 & FB1/2, as well as a couple Northerns.

5 days, 9 hours, and 28 minutes until Christmas.

Dennis, a local boat storage facility didn’t read the directions.  The first night the new heater turned on there was one or more boats in the beam of the heater and poof.

Sunday diesel was $3.99 and 9/10 per gallon.  When I was stationed in Texas diesel was 40 cents a gallon and that was less than 13 years ago.  The town had 3 refineries right there.

Robby welcome back, I was wondering how you’ve been.  What issue is that?

A new guy?  No its just me!!!

Its been what, 2-3 years?   I'm glad I can come back into the diner.  Kinda missed it.   I tried for the longest but either my internet was acting up or something with trains.com website......anyways, I'm here.

Long story short.    I still weather cars.  Got a good job at a distribution center.  Only four days a week at 10hour days, so its not bad!!!  Still no layout thou, but maybe soon.

I hope everybody is doing good, and I will catch up soon.  Gotta get ready for work here in a few.

I also won a old car of mine back on eBay.  Now I have the complete set.  The original car and magazine now!!!

Here's a car I did awhile back.....

And..............a newspaper did a story on me

Price of gas?

Currently at $ 8.14 a gallon - down a little, but expected to go back to over $ 9 by the weekend! We have price changes up to 10 times daily!

Makes filling up a gamble.

Lowest price here is $3.15

How about that, gas is .99 here in Alberta, but then we're floating on it.

Oh ya, that's .99 per liter by the way so that works out to (mumble mumble, head scratch) something like $3.97 per US gal.

Or right, forgot to work it out with the dollar exchange rate. Dead That should make it ummmmmm lets see not not ok..... $4.03.9 to be exact.

Watch those infrared heaters.  They are good heaters but if they are the ones that project an infrared beam they tend to ignite things.

I suppose that's why the instruction manual says "Keep unit at least 1 meter away from any combustible surface". How about that, I read the manual first for a change Confused That in itself is a change for me Embarrassed

Hmmm, I wonder if they mean the floor too????????

You could always use a RENOVATOR's Saw... Come to think of it, that's what I just used on my layout to do some re-arranging. Worked really well. Of course you could use one of those new counter roatating blade saws too.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe, I'll have a hot bowl of organic oatmeal with flax seed, brown sugar, and lots of dark roast coffee in a R&GV RR mug.

Barry, thanks for sending a bit of bright clear skies my way this morning...  Glad I got up early enough to notice it as the dark grayness has now reappeared....

Fergie, one of the great things about this hobby is we can leave it sit for a while, then come back and start right up again!  Keep us posted on the changes to the MESS®.

Dave, welcome back!

Todd, the local TOPS Market grand reopening here in Geneva has been giving discounts for gasoline at their new gas station...  I have collected a 40¢ discount per gallon so far.  Buy the time I will need a fill up I should get 60 or 70¢ off per gallon...  Probably won't need gas before the week after Christmas...  Even then it will be 8 or 9 gallons for a fill up.

Just got a call from the Toyota Service Dept. the floor mats I ordered have come in, so I will make a trip to Canandaigua this afternoon on my rounds.

Catch you all later!
