TSF- I have 8 Oregon Rail PRR intermediate signals that I have to build (wish me luck) and 6 NJ PRR dwarf signals (already built). The expense will be the control system.

Barry-AngelPrayers for your SIL.

Evening Gang: Well it's 27days and counting. The high today was an offical 101F. Of course that was at DFW airport about 60 miles east of here. Our high was 106F. Anyway once it gets over 100 it all feels the same. Yea, Right, not.

One of our kids friends father came home from work Tuesday, went out in the yard and worked for a bit, and came in and sat down and died. He was 64. This heat is taking a toll. Another fire fighter was taken to the hospital with heat exhaustion. He is expected to be all right. I did some work today but in my tractor with the cab and AC. It was still warm. The cattle are making it by staying in the shade and just lying around. They are smarter then some of us. Of course if I did that they woudn't have anything to eat.

Well it's getting late again so I will say Good Night.

Good evening.

I'm glad we have the diner to share what's on our minds. Let's continue to be supportive when problems take place. I'm proud to say all the diners here are my friends. Prayers for those experiencing tough times in the recession. Hang in there guys. The Lord will carry you through.

Barry ... I'm sorry to learn about your SIL. Prayers for her.

Todd .. Continued prayers for you MIL.

Paul... That's sad about the 64 year old man. Prayers for his family.

Again, today, I have been busy with non model railroad stuff. The church has its Vacation Bible School for the kids, and Shelley and I were asked to volunteer this week. We are doing the youngest group ages 3, 4, and 5. ... I'll disclose a talent to you. I can mimmc Donald Duck. So, I read basic children's Bible lessons in Donald Duck's voice. Kids love it, and they actually learn somewhat . ... Don't tell anybody else. I've quacked up.

Have a nice evening.

Good Morning Folks!

Boy, what happened here? I stay away for a night, come here for my breakfast coffee and bagel, only to find out the place has been hit by a tornado.

Easy, girls, I won´t run away - I´ll stay here and help you clean up the mess!

I don´t want to add to the slightly derailed discussion, but do allow me some remarks, please.

Hectorgonzalez - Welcome to the finest virtual diner in the world. Mighty fine folks in here. We all respect each other the way we are. We are friends, supporting and helping each other. Within the framework Kalmbach sets for their forum, we are free to talk - quite often stretching this boundary a little. This has been tolerated a long time now and we are glad to have found a way to communicate without the mods having to step in. That does not mean that all is bright and shiny in here. We may have differing opinions on issues and do voice them, with all due respect for each other. We should keep it that way.

When two people have a bone to pick, it is much better not to get involved - just like in real life.

Back to business.

Although I did not sleep well, I am much more relaxed this morning. I think I untied the Gordian knot on my module last night. I know now what to do to improve the looks & fell of it. I will have to redo quite a large portion of it, but that´s no big issue.

Sometimes, it does help to step back and risk a few more thoughts!

Have a good one!

Janie, a mug of coffee for me - how sweet of you! That´s a nice way of saying thank you for helping clear the mess....

Good Morning All,

L&NTIM, What town did you grow up in?

Curt, I have all my controllers sitting on the layout ready to be installed.  I forget what I paid for them but it wasn’t cheap.  I’m using that same Radio Shack power supply I told you about.

GOOD MORNING!!!

wetidlerjr

 hectorgonzales:
Wow! A bit harsh don't you think?

Just because he is gainfully employed and most on this forum are not is no reason to bash him.

I for one enjoy reading Ken's posts on this forum. As a matter of fact I find the rest of you quite bland and boring. I skip your posts regularly just to read Ken's.

Ken, please keep posting. (complaints and all) I for one enjoy them!

Hector.....

Let me get this straight. You lecture galaxy for bashing Ken and then you declare that everyone but Ken is "bland and boring" and that you skip all posts but those by Ken. Don't you see some hypocrisy here?

Thank you very much, Mr. Tidler.

Perhaps he LIKES reading money complaints and woes everyday from Ken, Maybe he is in the same boat.

I am sure I am not the ONLY one who is tired of Ken's woes...some have said they WISH they had what he has in his dwindling savings account. ANd others have told him they don't want to hear it as they are as bad off or worse off than Ken.

As I said, though...I said it as a friend with gentle guidance. What goes around comes around and if he'd stop complaining " I only have enough money for food for 1 week , but need it for 2 weeks" , well, IF he used his money wisely, MONEY may come back to him!!!! {Suze Orman the great financial advisor would agree and has written a book on the subject!!}

ANYhoo,.

Oh, BTW Mr. Tidler- in RE of your being censors on pics...the DINER has been censored BEFORE for pictures...that were NOT of Railroads or MRRing. We had a gentleman in here who used to post pics of food dishes, and being a chef, used to provide us with recipes {I think that was Ryan ?}. He got CENSORED for non-RR pics too!!!   He then would post a link to where he hosted food pics and the recipes. The link was acceptable to the moderators. BUT, He hasn't been around in a while lately. SO you may STILL get a censor note from the forum moderators and Kalmbach. Seems the forum Diner bandwidth gets hard on thier system with all those extra pics posted. NOT picking on you the way some think I did  Ken, just FOREWARNING you. They may ask you not to post pics of anything BUT trains. Maybe you can find old pics of Dinner Fare on a Train ride? That would make it train-related. Just some friendly advice.

Not much to say. I just haven't been in and see I wasn't missed much cuz I had little to say. I see I wasn't missed much.

The root canal has two canals completed and the third is started. I have to now wait til the 5th to get it completed. The Dentist is only in on Fridays. I had a migraine last week so I couldn't go. I am out of the GOod drugs as the infection cleared up and the pain went away.

So I won't be floating in a most peculiar way until he finishes and I get more.

It will be raining off and on today. At least it's rain. We are not as dry as some areas of the country, but we still need the rain...a good quiet all night lnog rain would be welcome.

I will be hiding in the back corner booth..the one next to the rest room so I can wash up IF anymore food is thrown my way.

Prayers for those who need them! Angel

Have a great day!

EDIT: I see as SOON as I come back, It is my duty to pay for all the meals on this page.. send the bill back to the corner booth nearest the restroom and THROW NO MORE FOOD AT ME, or ELSE I will REFUSE and send your check back to you!!!!

Good Morning!! Coffee, bacon and scrambled eggs and a couple slices of whole grain wheat toast with some grape jam please Thank you.

A 40 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Partly sunny, with a high near 89. Going through a cool down here. Looks like the best chance for rain is this afternoon so I should get the yard mowed this morning. Was gonna do it yesterday, but they said today was going to be cooler and less humid. Now I’m thinking if I’m prepared for the rain it won’t. So, should I NOT mow until later and hope the rain stops me? Or should I mow early so I’m prepared for everything to go north and leave us dry. ….-er. Confused Decisions.

Paul- Be careful, it doesn’t look like you'll get any relief next week either.

Jeff- I know you can’t have every part laying around. (It would be nice tough wouldn't it). But, you just never know what you may have that you just “couldn’t through away” I have a garage full of automobile stuff. Now if you want to discuss useful stuff….., very little. 100mhz huh? I remember my second computer. Stepped up from a, I believe it was a 22mhz, ALL the way to a screaming 33mhz. I can’t even remember what the RAM or the HD capacity was but you can imagine and I'm sure well remember. Funny thing is the computer was plenty fast and capable for me then and it probably would be now except for this blamed internet. In fact that’s why I had to trade up from that one. Wasn’t compatible with the internet. (not upgradable enough). Of course I was a late comer to the net and still am a hanger on of computers that are sufficient for my needs. Which are very small.

Ken- ON the tax bill from the bank, even though they pay the taxes ½ at a time, they collect for it over 12 months. They are recording it as two payments, but need to collect for each payment over twelve months. My bank does it the same way and I'm sure many others. I feel for you on the new neighbors building castlesGrumpy. Same here. Problem is the taxes go up because of the area, but the willingness for the new buyers to pay for an old house the same as a newer house is just not there. I think it’s funny they call it “Fair Market Value” on the tax bill. HAH! SOLD! To the man wearing the assessors cap!

Barry- Prayers for your SIL!

Inch- Glad you dropped in. I was wondering how you were getting along. Figured it's about time you checked in. Congrats on the new Grandbaby! I see you’re still collecting em. Good for you.

Well (still holding in there), I best be getting a start on my day. Have a few odds and ends I need to do at Mom’s place, then you know my dilemma on the grass cutting part. Maybe I should just head to the basement and think about this in the train room…hmmmmmmHmm.

Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Good Afternoon,

now that the smoke has cleared, the place looks pretty much the same to me as before.

Zoe, coffee and a slice of my favorite cherry crumble pie, please!

I had a little conversation with our friend Bill. Here is what I wrote to him:

"It is the first time since I joined the Diner crew that there was dissent, voiced in an undue way (by our new visitor).  Galaxy might have been a little over the top with his comment towards Ken, but hey, so what? Both are dear to me and have my deep respect. I don´t want to miss either one of them."

I do hope the issue is settled for now.

Inch - glad you are back! Congratulations on granddaughter # 2 - she is a sweet one. I guess I am the right age for turning into a grandfather - I will have to have a word with my son´bout that.

Started to prepare my module for the corrective w*rk by plucking all the clump foliage from the parts I will have to correct. Luckily, I was able to salvage nearly all of it, so all that is lost is a few hours of work, some paint and white glue. I am convinced that the module will look much nicer after the correction. Petra wants me to do the waterfall - hmmh, got to think about that. If it makes her happy, it might be easier in the future to get her buy-in on extending the layout Laugh

Barry- Prayers for your SIL from my side as well!

Temperatures are in the low 60´s here and there is now sign of improvement. It´s a wet summer so far and we will mot likely have to wait for fall to see better weather.

Morning All,

Sitting here drinking my morning coffee. Not much planned for the day. My son is off work today and I think he wants to go to a matinee today. I think I will go to Wally world today to replace some of the shirts I ruined through the layout building process (glue & paint). Probably run trains for awhile today.

We just finished refinancing our house Tuesday. The bank called us and lowered our loan % 2 %. It cost us $250 and will save us $160 per month. We did not take any cash or increase the length of the loan.

Inch53- Congrats on the new great grand baby.

Galaxy- I sure don't envy you with the multiple root canals. Hopefully they will be done soon.

Ulrich- Have you decided what you are going to do with your module?

Lee- I am using the RS power supplies you recommended for my Tortoises and they work very well.

Everyone have a good day.

Dang Flo, Kitchen blow up last night?

Cup of Coffee Please and I will help mop up the dinner.

cudaken

Sure have made good use with my min windfall, besides the beer. Up till getting that check, I had maybe $20.00 for food this week. While Sue and I could not buy a lot, did spend $60.00 and got a few good deals at our LGS. Got 10 pounds of chicken thighs with drum sticks for $6.00 so that is what I will be BBQ tonight.

Spent $50.00 for gas today, if I can keep Sue out of the car that will last 2 weeks.

Galaxy I think you may have missed the above. I all so paid the water bill, paid part the electric bill with the win fall check. I think you have not been to the dinner for the last few days and may not know I have stopped drinking Mountain Dew, and beer till last night. I am doing my best to cut down on things I want, but don't need. But I was BBQ last night and well, does not seem right not to have a beer while doing so. I blew a whole $11.80 with tax on beer, if I had not got the check, I would not have bought any.

Far as my grumbling about money. Sorry it is getting on your nerves. But it is on my mind, and when you have things on your mind (like buying a house, health problems) you talk about it with your friends. So I talk about here at the dinner.

Hector You enjoy reading my post? Laugh You must like reading about car problems, playing guitar and being broke! As far as defending me, well thank you but it is not needed. I am pretty thick skinned and takes more than Galaxy's post to get me upset. I just think he missed the part where I did what I need to do with the found money. Plus I was kidding around a lot about buying beer in that post.

Well time to go to work, and I am sorry things got a little out of hand.

Good morning!

Inch... WOW! Great Grandchild #2. Your grandkids are having kids. That's something. I lost track of how many grandkids you have but I recall it was many.

Jeff ... I like your shed. Nice job.

Ken .. I like the way you maintain a sense of humor no matter what.

I posted this picture in Weekend Photo Fun. WPF got an early start last night. These are some of the SD's that I added details to.

Where are Vincent, JimCG, Der John, and several others?

Have a great day.

Good morning (matter of opinion). It's 77 and cloudy. The high will be 91 and there's a 50% chance of rain today. We got a little over four inches of rain in two hours yesterday. Now while I like rain I don't like the way I usually feel on rainy days and yesterday was no exception. Usually on rainy days I'll have some stiffness in the joints and minor aches in bones that were fractured or broken at some point in the past. Ordinarily it's just minor discomfort. But yesterday was a record breaker! My ankles and knees hurt so bad it was agonizing just to stand still or leaning against something. Sitting down didn't help much either as my neck, back and arms felt like they'd been thrown into a fire. I couldn't even get online much yesterday due to near constant cable internet outages. Finally around 5:30 or 6 pm I took some pain killers and went to bed. I'm not feeling good today but at least I don't have the intense pain I had yesterday.

Mornin' everyone!

"Just Singin' in the Rain.....  Just Singin' in the Rain....  What a glorious feeling, I'm............"  Raining here in the Finger Lakes this morning.  So far a nice steady gentle rain, but predicting a gully washer soon.  We need it badly.  Crops are very withered around the area.

Zoe, I'll have the rainy day special.  Two eggs over easy, sausage, and a double order of sour dough toast along with a cup of dark roast coffee.  Please and thank you Ma'am!

Glad to see the diner got a thorough cleaning over night.  I chaulk the whole thing up to people being on edge because of the current situations around the planet......  I read everyone's posts in here and enjoy even those THAT I disagree with.  We seem to be a tolerant bunch and I hope we stay THAT way! Smile, Wink & Grin

Inch, another Great Grand Baby....  congrats sir.  If being a great grandfather is half as much fun as being a grandfather, well I know you will enjoy the little one!

I have some more roofing (in 1/87.1 scale) to do so i best get at it.

Later!

Hi all.

Haven't stopped by the Diner in a while, but imagine my surpise when I picked up the morning paper today the the headline read, "MAJOR FOODFIGHT AT DINER. HAZMAT CREWS CALLED IN FOR CLEANUP." Had to come by to see all the hubub.

Flo, I'll have a non-fat chocolate shake. No, in a clean glass if you have one, please.

I'd actually been making progress installing some scenery on my layout until the past few days. Been so gol-darned hot, I really had no choice but to retreat to the nice cool basement. Whistling My daughter's been showing horses through 4H at the county fair this week - talk about ROASTING! Yikes. Then my wife got a call-back from her latest mammogram. They found something - very small but definitely there. Long story short, we've scheduled a biopsy for next week and I suspect there's a lumpectomy surgery in our fairly near future. Things should ultimately be fine, but I must admit for a day or two my mind took me to some very very dark places that I don't care to visit ever again.

They may ask you not to post pics of anything BUT trains. Maybe you can find old pics of Dinner Fare on a Train ride? That would make it train-related. Just some friendly advice.

That is good advice and exactly the issue that was brought up to me by Kalmbach when they directed the removal of the pictures. They are definitely concerned about the copyright issues-- they tell me that they had some lady who had taken a picture of a cake (as I heard it) and it had gotten posted here and she somehow found out about it and complained. And regardless of what you may think of the complaint, it was her photo and her right to object. It's interesting now to hear about it from another perspective.

The other item expressed by "powers that be" was regarding the "pinup" aspect, in the belief that if it is allowed to continue it will quickly become a trend (and a precedent) leading in a downward spiral of taste-- one opinion specifically suggested it would likely lead to the online equivalent of the "wet t-shirt contest" (one could only hope! :-) LOL But their principle concern was that this is first and foremost a "family-site", and even here in the Diner, where things are a little more permissive and tolerated, that those images were leading away from that vision. (Not that the vision they *were* leading to was all that hard on the eyes, understand... Pirate )

Afternoon folks!

Flo I'll have a root beer float to cool me off a bit.

Temps are actually very pleasent here in the Finger lakes, but the humidity feels like 120%  Whistling  waiting from a call from Cherrypharm.  They are about to ship me more Cherribundy Skinny and I need to let them know I am without a Credit Card until the new one arrives (hopefully early next week).

Ulrich, Just saw your beautiful module over in the WPF thread.  I hope you don't mind, but I did some quick photoshopping of your module......  If it were me I would add a waterfall more like this to it with a pond at the bottom.  Just and idea for you....

John, thanks for the reply on the photos.  It is very helpful to know why Bill was asked not post the Waitresses.  Personally, I will miss their smiling faces....... and there.... ah.............. personalities.  Yep, their personalities!  Smile, Wink & Grin  I do know that at a forum over across the street, the same photos have led to some very questionable and certainly not family oriented posts.

Later!

Ah the personalities…(sigh)....yup, gonna miss those too……Smile.

Oh! Lunchtime. I’ll have a couple chili dogs with onion, a Dr Pepper and some of Ray’s potato salad which I must admit I have yet to try. It is in the plans, but time has not allowed.

Indy Jim- Prayers for your wife. I hope it turns out to be what Brenda’s was a few years ago. Just a wad of dried pus as the doctor put it. Well, that’s how I remember it anyway. Still, scary until he said for sure though.

John W- Very thoughtful (and very diplomatic if I may say soCool )of you to remind us that some rules can not be stretched no matter the intention... or lack of. I must admit, though I do not forget the rules, myself I sometimes forget that we are not alone in this thread and we must conduct ourselves according. We do value this place to hang out and are very grateful that Kalmbach allows us to visit as we do. I understand what some see as harmless (and the way I view things, I'm very susceptable tomaking "mistakes"), others do not and not necessarily those in the diner or even on the forum. I’m not being sarcastic or arguementive when I say I would not have considered a cake or any picture posted on the internet for all to see on a free site as protected, but I am aware the (original) poster may very well. And that is what counts, not my opinion. Thanks again and please feel free to pop in occasionally. Or more.

RAY- I LIKE!Left Hug Sort of what I had in mind but, what if the cut were more off center to the right and it was say caused by the waterfall? That’s really what I had envisioned. Me and Photoshop do not get along so you’ll just have to imagine. Maybe I should take the time to figure that out too. Oh yah. Time. I forgot.

Welp, off to see if I can find the forum across the street Whistling.

(ahem) just kidding.

EDIT: That post is gonna cost me. Order up I guess.

Well there's no doubt that we're getting more heavy rain today. I don't even have to look outside to see what the cloud cover is like. I can hear the rain pouring down on the roof and my satellite reception is blacked out. The latter happens only in very heavy cloud cover or heavy cloud cover and rain or some dumb jerk has stopped his RV in front of the dish.

Afternoon all. I'll have a Shirley Temple, please.

After seeing the chaos that was going on, I decided to stay out of it and not bother posting. Now that the war is over and the Treaty of Elliot has been signed, I would say that it is once again safe to enter the diner. Smile, Wink & Grin

Ken, sorry to hear about your financial troubles. I know that this is really hackneyed, but... It will get better eventually.

Barry, SIL is on our prayer list Angel

TSF, finally, another person my age who loves coffee! I was bitten by the bug a few years ago (freshman year, maybe, so three years ago), but most of my friends don't drink it yet.

I LOVE coffee. With LOTS of sugar. And iced coffee. Dunkin Donuts mocha caramel iced coffee. And when I'm down the shore (because it's closer than DD), Wawa Mocha Mint Iced Coffee. Yum.

COFFEECOFFEECOFFEECOFFEECOFFEECOFFEECOFFEECOFFEECOFFEECOFFEE!!!!!!

No, I didn't have too much its morning (I only got the 22oz from Wawa, whereas I usually get the 44oz Whistling), I just love coffee! Laugh

Paul, sorry to hear about your kid's friend's father Angel

Inch, congrats on the new grandbaby!

IndyJim, good to see you again, and sorry to hear about your wife Angel.

I'm glad that we finally got some clarification on the photos. Since I know that one big concern is copyright issues, and I don't have to worry bout THAT, then there won't be a problem with me bringing in some DESSERT to share:

Enjoy! Dinner

I have to go to w**k at four, but I'll be around to browse the forums for a while.

Coffee in a UNION PACIFIC mug, please.

***Ulrich, I might take your first waterfall pic and simply add a rock outcrop 1/3rd of the way down to break up it's length. But everyone will have their own take on it and there is no right or wrong. You do nice work.

It's another sultry summer day here. Yuck!

Have a good one y'all.
