Well Bummer! Hmmmm. Root Beer and Watermelon is good. Janie I'll have a Root and a slice of Watermelon tonight.
Got the back yard and the side mowed before I ran out of steam... (The mower had plenty of battery left, I didn't). Did some odds and ends like putting a hasp for a lock on the shed doors and put away all the tools I was using out there. Tonight I've been down cellar sweeping up sawdust and cleaning the workshop. Needed it badly. I did find time to cut, stain, and install all the rest of the rafters and braces on the roof of the Engine House.
Have a great evening all!

Bill, I think that is the first time I have seen you say something! And here they provide us with a we can post? Far as your waitress, bet there daughters dress like that. Far from being over the top, or topless as far as that goes.
Ulrich When I first saw the drawing I was thinking waterfall. I know you have plenty of water! Have you seen the method of making waterfalls with clear plastic and or tape? If not, I think I can find the link for you.
Far as money and work goes. I need to start looking again and see what I can find. When I was making $700.00 extra with commission and or bonus and the electric bill was $75.00 range we where doing OK. So a part time job where I can make a extra $175.00 a week would fit the bill.
One thing for sure, if I take a new full time job I don't want to work on commission again. The up's are great, but it is so hard to plan a budget.
I am not the only one in this boat. We have around 9 sales people, only 3 are on track to make any commission this month.
See you all Wednesday and Thank You All For Your Kind Words.

Good Morning All,
Ulrich, maybe a rock out cropping with wet rocks? Maybe a small hint of water falling…
Garry, if you like building Bowser locomotive kits I could keep you busy. I have 2 or 3 of those kits lying around; one of them is a challenger.
Bob, I wax the windshield of my truck with carnauba wax and it works just like rain-ex. It has to be a carnauba wax or it won’t work. We also waxed the windows on our USCG boats typically the weather we did SAR in the wiper wouldn’t keep up anyway.
Bill is such a rebel! Gosh!
I ordered ink for the decal printer (ALPS MD-1000) last night. The only place to get the ink anymore is New Zealand.

Good Afternoon Folks!
I just woke up from a nap. Did not sleep much last night with that pain in my hip. Went to see the doc in the morning and he put me on some meds, which seem to work, but make me drowsy.
No w*rk on the module today. I have to put in some more thoughts before I proceed. I like the waterfall idea a lot, but have never made any. What I will do in any case is to get rid of that straight edge and add a little contour to it - another job at my friends place. Once that is done I will have the options to just keep it and detail it, or to add the waterfall. Time will tell!
Gosh, Bill - that´s the second post with words I saw from you Guess I am going to miss your friends serving this cool beverage.
Janie, how about a mug of strong coffee to perk me up a little, if you please...

Morning Folks
Flo, coffee please.
Coffee Drinkers I have a question for you. While I am OK with the taste off coffee, one of the reason I stopped drinking it years ago is because of the after taste. Is there anything that can be added keep there from being a after taste?
Here in a little bite I am going to see if I can get the R-12 added to the Town Car A/C. Sure hope that does the trick. If Bob is not busy, maybe I can get him to rack the car and check out the U-Joints. That could all so cause a vibration.
Then cut the grass before it gets to hot.
Coffee in a SOUTHERN mug, please.
Have a good day all.
Rob
Ulrich here is the link. Seems pretty much straight forward to make a water fall.

Morning All,
At w**k today again. High today 93 F with a 50% chance of rain. Got off late last night...I mean this morning so I am pretty tired today. I also had a run in with a MD yesterday at work...I am glad he doesn't take care of my family.
L&N Tim- I installed Tortoises and they were pretty darn easy. I bought them from www.TNTtrains.com . They are the cheapest for them that I could find and very quick shipping. You can either control them on a control panel like I do or buy a add on piece ($$$$) so that you can control them through a DCC system.
Ken- I add powdered creamer. It smooths it out and no after taste or bitterness. I find that if I just do sugar it tastes sweet but at the same time it seems to make coffee more bitter when you are done drinking it. Does that make sense?
Everyone take care today.

Good Morning!! Coffee and a …..oh crud, I can’t decide on what I want. Just the dark roast please. Thank you. Mostly sunny, with a high near 94. Heat index values as high as 101. Had a very nice shower last night about 5, 5:30 for about, oh... say 15-20 minutes. Really cooled the world off and was just plain nice. Kinda peaceful if you know what I mean. The kind you just want to sit on the front porch and watch. MIL came through the 8 hour surgery fairly well. Doctors, though not totally surprised, were relieved. Thank you for all the prayers and well wishes. She is awake in IC and will be there for they say a couple days. They also took the breathing tube out earlier than they thought they would be able too also. She isn’t out of the woods yet as for complications, BP is on the low side and they don't want to.....do something, because they are afraid of Pneumonia etc. They've also put in another PIC (?) linein near, or in, the neck. Time in the next couple days will tell. So our fingers are still crossed . Well I see the I&S is nothing but a prairie now. Sad. But I can hardly wait to see what becomes of it! Ulrich- What about, about half the cut down. I like the best of both views. The bottom gives the illusion of distance and the top well, just looks pretty. I think split the difference. As for the waterfall, I like it after seeing the photoshop version. Try it again with the cutdown about halfway. See what it looks like. Ain't photoshop great? Never thought of doing layout planning with it.

Did you hear a voice? It…..sounded familiar. Vaguely familiar……Hmmm.
Well, like my Daddy always said, “Son, a pretty girl will always get you in trouble. Just how much depends on how pretty she is.”
Don’t know (again) what today will bring. I hope I will get some time….nope. I won’t say it. I won’t even put the layout room in my plans. Probably do a bit of mowing with Ray today. (hehe.., rhymes). MIL is in ICU so I’m not sure if our Horsepiddle rules allow in-laws in there or not. I was allowed in there several years ago I know, but then again, not sure if they even asked. With that family, there’s too many to keep track.
Welp, best try and get to the Bay before I get sidetracked or pushed out on the mainline of today’s activities. Don’t want to miss that perfect Atlas Master Series loco I just can’t live without that will go for three dollars with free shipping you know. Could happen today.
Ya’ll have a Great Day!!!

Good morning. It's 75° and cloudy with an occasional rumble of thunder. The high will be 93°, mostly cloudy with a 40 to 50% chance of thunderstorms throughout the day. It's kind of dreary looking and dark here this morning with the heavy cloud cover. The weather radar shows a moderate to heavy thunderstorm buildup in my area so I'm ready to shut down at a moments notice if need be. Last night I worked on an old GE cassette player (model 3-5027A). It's problem turned out to be a loose wire. Easy fix. I intend to hook it up to a speaker in my van so I can have some music on the road. That will be a welcome change.

Dang, I was just about to shoot a couple of more pictures from my module when the battery ran out of juice. Now I have to wait for it to be recharged. THAT always happens to me. Actually, I am quite happy with that camera. It is a compact Panasonic Lumix DMC-LX1 with a quality Leica lens I bought 6 years ago, during my still better days. Does not have a high amount of MP´s, but that is more than compensated by the excellent lens.
Well, aficionados dos trenes, you will have to wait for some more pictures!
Ken - I remember the way coffee is prepared in the US is very much different from what we "Old Europeans" do. We use those automatic drip coffee makers, which take a lot of that bitter after taste away while leaving the full flavor. You can add to that by choosing a milder roast as well. Adding sugar might help, but it takes away too much of the coffee flavor, IMHO.
CUL!
Morning all from SunnyCal. Supposed to be about 90 or so here today, possibly shoot up to about 100 by the weekend. It was about 89 in the garage yesterday, kicked on the fan to work on the MR. Oddly enough, the heat--such as it's been this summer--doesn't seem to bother me as much as it used to. I don't know whether it's just age creeping (galloping) up on me or what. But I'm not bothered as much as I used to be down here. Of course the pollen has been outrageous this year--some days I work in a face-mask--but I'm not sweating like a pig anymore. But then I'm also 50 pounds skinnier than I was last summer.
Well, I got invaded yesterday morning by son and grandson--they're here until Friday, then Christopher has to fly back to Illinois to start school. My God, the kid's turned into a Viking!! Handsome as hell, smart as a whip (well, he's MY grandson of course, LOL!) and just like his father, all over the place. He'll be a Sophomore this year and really wants to move out to Vancouver to finish high school. He said that the high school in East Moline doesn't offer enough Advanced Placement courses, and he really needs to have a pile of them his Junior and Senior year to apply to some of the colleges he's interested in. He'll be a Sophomore this year, and so far he's got a 3.8 Grade Point Average. Tom and I told him to have a long talk with his mother and explain the entire situation, and perhaps she'd give permission to let him come out for his last two years.
Plan B, which she might just go for, is to have him move out here with me and finish his last two years at Jesuit. I can get a big break on the tuition, so that's a plus. Besides, I haven't raised a teenager in years, LOL!
At any rate, he was a busy little Viking yesterday, crawling under the layout and checking the wiring--found a couple of loose connections that I'd overlooked. When they arrived, my son immediately went to the 'fridge and said, "Hey, no beer!" I just stared at him and said, "No kidneys." "Oh yah, forgot."
Today, they're using the pool. Tomorrow, we're heading up to the mountains so Christopher can go rock-hunting. I'm taking the camera. Next plan: Some panoramic shots as a photo backdrop for the layout.
Ulrich: I vote for the waterfall, also. And knowing your modeling skills, you'll probably figure out how to put in one in about fifteen minutes, LOL! That's a VERY neat module!
Ken: Get a good German drip-coffee brewer and use a good filter. Melita filters are really good at taking out that bitter after-taste. And get some good ground coffee--NOT Folgers--I like a nice Columbian or Vienna Roast. French Roast is a little TOO strong for me. You probably don't have Peet's back there, but if you find some, get the Major Dickenson's blend--just Yummy! Stay away from Starbuck's, their coffee tastes like it's been in the pot for a week.
Well, I hear the grandson in the kitchen raiding the fridge, so I'd better go out and make breakfast. Nothing fancy, mind you, he only likes about 6 eggs, a pound of bacon and two pounds of home fries to start out with, LOL! He's 5'10", weighs about 150 and has a 29" waist. And eats likea horse.
I could KILL him, LOL!
Best to all, prayers to those in need.
Tom

Ulrich and Curt, I am drinking instant coffee, artificial sweetener and milk. While not real coffee, it is what I have.
Car A/C Well, the R-12 helped but not as much as I would have liked. Seems the A/C compressor is going bad. But, I hope it makes it through the summer.Sure don't have $500.00 to spend.
My wife just said "I don't nag you". Hum, it is 10:03 AM and she has told me 4 times so far this morning "you need to cut the back grass". Hum, if that is not nagging what would you call it?
Good Morning All....Its sunny and 83 with high posta be 92...I'll have coffee and toast please...Thank you..gonna slip over in corner booth and seee who drops in...You all have a good one...Jerry
Ken its persistent reminders. I just look at Dorothy and tell her she sounds like my ex-wife. It’s not pretty but it’s effective and the house is really quiet so I can catch up on reading my train magazines.
Here is my picture of the day.
I am still undecided about that waterfall - should I try it? I don´t know whether my skills are sufficient.
It does look tempting, though.
Edit:
Ken - no wonder you´ve got that strange after taste to your coffee. Instant coffee is bad, man! I second what Tom said - get a good coffee maker! Would love to send you one, but we are on 230 V AC here.
Ulrich: I like the top one.
jeffrey-wimberly Ulrich: I like the top one.
Jeff - aside from being afraid that my skills won´t be sufficient to add a believable, realistic looking waterfall, I am not sure if I´d "overburden" the scene with it. There are still a number of details missing on that module and I don´t want it to look like a carnival of attractions.
Oh boy, why is making up a decision so difficult?
Mornin' everyone!
Looks like a pleasant day here in the Finger Lakes. Zoe I'll have a waffle with Blueberry syrup and a cup fo freshly brewed dark roast coffee in a R&GV RR mug. Please and thanky Ma'am.
cudaken Ulrich and Curt, I am drinking instant coffee, artificial sweetener and milk. While not real coffee, it is what I have.
Well Ken, you just told me what the problem is. Of course it will taste like crap for 10 minutes after you gag it down...... First off buy whole bean coffee! Don't get it it ground at the store as THAT lets all the rich flavor out of it. Then if you must use an "artificial sweetener, at least use a natural one THAT is not made in some chemical factory from left over toxic waste... (I use Sweet Leaf aka: Stevia). Then only use pure natural organic Half and Half! What little you will use in your coffee won't raise your cholesterol at all and it won't poison you either... The taste will now be what coffee is supposed to taste like and not something that leaves a nasty, ichy taste in your mouth for the rest of the day......
Tom, raising a teenager again??? You must have a lot more patience than I do these days. Actually THAT might be fun with a great kid! Sounds like a kid who will go places with his life.
Ulrich I like the second photo, but personally I would have the waterfall off center coming down from the right side, partially hidden in the trees...... Then have a small stream at the bottom. Woodland Scenics makes a product that comes in a squeeze bottle I have used for waterfalls called Water Effects http://www.walthers.com/exec/productinfo/785-1212
Best get to w*rk...
Later!
My Coffee. While the coffee in the local restaurants are fresh drip brew they still leave a nasty taste in my mouth. But it could all so be freshly made Bad Coffee as well! Reason I am drinking the instant coffee is because I cannot afford Diet Mountain Dew. So buying a drip coffee maker and good coffee is out of the question. So for now I am stuck with the after taste.
Ulrich Did you see the post I made on the other page with the link to how to make a water fall? Your new section looks pretty good. Only thing I don't like about it is the wood that is showing on the left side. It is distracting from the rest of it. Maybe a foam rock face?
Well, got to cut some grass.
V8Vega jeffery-wimberly is your post count the highest? Just curious.
jeffery-wimberly is your post count the highest? Just curious.
On the subject of coffee, much of the coffee served in convenience stores here can be used for anything from killing taste buds to dissolving concrete.
Ulrich,
I second what Ray said, the water effects you can lay it out on a non-stick cookie sheet, let it dry then peel it off and place it on the module. If you’re lacking in skills you can do it several times on the cookie sheet until you get the desired results.
