Zoe, I´ll go for hot dogs and a , please.
I seem to be in a somewhat sour mood. My recent contributions have a negative touch to them, so I will refrain from posting to other threads than this one.

In trouble? No. Causing Heck yeah. That's the "I've got you fooled, and soon I'll have all your friends tricked too! They'll never see it coming! MWAHAHAHA!" face if ever I've seen it. Better tell Blackie to move over. Make room for the older sister too.
Remember, that's why Lassos and DUCK TAPE was invented? waterproofing? Bah. Those soldieers knew what would be at home, and wanted it on Sam's dime.
Oh, ans Ray, mightI observe that a fire in an enclosed railcar is a real BAD idea? As inviting as it sounds?
(My) evening folks. Ya, I know it's 630am, but on normal days, I'm just heading to bed after work anyways. Thought I'd share a picture with ya.
As dad said, "the only gig where I'm not old, fat, and grey enough for it." Merry Christmas!

Good morning,
“Now does this look like a little girl who would be in trouble for long?” Now Ray that depends on what her hands are doing, can’t see what buttons she pushing, LOL.
Thanks for the birthday wishes, its 0713 and I’m heading out to do a patrol with the USCG AUX this morning. Currently pouring down rain and 39F outside, the reserved weather guessers are calling for 8” of snow by morning. SO that means we will have a period of freezing rain today then some snow.

Good Morning
I'm up and getting ready to go to the train show here..
We are expecting another 4"-6" of the white stuff today--areas to the north of us are going to be in for even more snow--something upwards of 2 feet more--as if there was not enough
Ray: Her? Get into trouble? Naaaahh....
So, have a good day people ---

Good rainy morning.
No snow till late tonight and all day tomorrow. Just a good day to be lazy.
Not much planned for me. Watch some football, and take it easy.
Lee.........Happy belated b-day. I didn't know it was.
"Rust, whats not to love?"
Bill, what time do you get up in the Mourning anyway?
Mourning Dinners.
Flo, bowel of Oat Meal and a glass of milk please.
We got our first snow today, I like snow. Not much more than a dusting, can still see a little of the grass. Sue is all ready complaining that she cannot drive in the stuff. Seems I am going to have to take her to Kohels Department store so she can use another $5.00 coupon. Sure hope they stop giving them out.
Train Front Stilson4283 (Chris) sent me a up dated plan for the future layout. He added a reversing loop and a wyn to the 3rd main line. Now If I can only figure out how to uses the 3rd Plan It software. Only thing I have figure out is how to run a train in he 3D mode. Pretty cool. But no way to save the plan as a JPG file. (I am using the free version)
See you all later today.

Good morning. It's 40° and partly cloudy but feels like 30°. The high is supposed to be 50° and it will be mostly sunny though it will feel like 40° thanks to the wind.I got the rest of the track locked in place with the drywall compound yesterday. Now I just have to wait for it to dry then cut off the high spots. Once that's done I can paint the drywall compound to match the ballast that will be on top of it later. I got a message yesterday on another forum concerning my decoder install on my new GP38-2. What I did on that was to leave the cheap Bachmann decoder in place to operate the lights since the Digitrax decoder I was putting in had a non-functional light circuit and would be just running the motor. The sender told me that "it would never work" and "you're a total idiot for even trying" and "you can't run two decoders in one locomotive". Wonder how he/she/it thinks separate decoders for motion and sound work then. The wording and overall tone of the message indicated to me that the sender had little idea of what they were talking about and demonstrated to me just how inexperienced/uninformed they were. I can't imagine what people like that think gives them the right to push their relative lack of knowledge on others as if it's the correct and written truth. Oh well, onward and upward. My sister and I went to Pizza Hut last night for dinner then went to see the Narnia 3D movie. Of all the 3D movies I've seen the 3D effects in this one are the best I've seen and there were several times I actually ducked as objects on the screen seemed to come hurtling out into the audience. Well worth the $11 admission fee in my opinion. I still have the second lot of HO items that have to go up for viewing. It includes several flatcars and boxcars. The list can be found at this link:

We have a 21 mph NW wind blowing here. That makes the 40° out there feel like 32°. Not surprisingly we have a fire weather warning in effect. There's also a freeze warning in effect for tonight. The expected low is 25° to 22°. Guess I better get out there and pack the water meter well with pine straw so it will be insulated from the cold.
Good Morning All!
Ulrich,Such a sweet lil' angel like that in trouble? Please tell me its not so!
Not much to report from the land of Buckeyes other then its snowing and we expecting 2-4".As far as modeling yesterday I sit up a mock Slate Creek using the industries I built and Athearn BB boxes.I wasn't quite please so,I will keep playing "Rotation" till I find the right combination and when I dod I will start the track work.A modern ISL based on the prototype isn't as easy as it looks even using Lance Mindheim's "How To Design A Small Switching Layout" book as a reference guide.. I shall have a cup and look over the forum.Have a good'un!

No not just what people call a blizzard, but a real blizzard. Blizzards. I hate blizzards. I think using the word blizzard 6 times is enough. Oh, 7.

Happy Birthday (late) Lee!
Garry- Almost fooled me there. I was going to ask how they took that picture. Another plane?
Well, I’m not sure what to do today due to the blizzard (8). I must go see Mom in the horse piddle and get her mail. We need to hit the grocery store for a few things for us and some dog treats. And then also take back a collar we picked up for the fat neck dog. Who, by the way, is fast asleep at my side with her little empty rubber treat bone clasped in her front paws. Plus, It’s Sunday and the usual day I take Brenda out to eat. Special day for her. I do it to give her a break and make it at least 7days a week she doesn’t have to cook.
One things for sure. This is a perfect day to hit the train room, but that won’t probably happen. BUT! It may yet this evening. I should stop off at Mom’s house and dump a few more things into the current dumpster as someone stopped by yesterdee and ask if he could take some 2X4’s for some shelving he was putting up in his garage. SURE! I said take all you want. He did. Almost all of them so I can fit more in the dumpster now. Maybe the blizzard (9) will die down this afternoon and on the way back I can stop off and do that.
Oh well, gonna stop in at “the bay” see what’s for sale and won’t buy, then check the weather again and see when to venture out. Maybe I will stop in the train room and see what I need to do. Cleaning up a bit I do know it needs.
Y’all have a Great Day now ya hear?!!!

Good Diners! I'll have the chicken Panini and a bowl of the squash soup please Zoe, Oh, and a JR Regular - and I think you'd better scoot over the -thank you kindly. Why, Dear Diners do I need the soapbox? Our toilets (upstairs and downstairs)started backing up on Wednesday, but seemed to clear overnight. Thursday they miss-behaved again later in the day. Septic hasn't been pumped in some years, so is likely full. Who to call? Yellow Pages has a likely looking candidate - XYZ Company "We take Crap from anyone!" Serving all of HRM and surrounding areas. (Halifax Regional Municipality - an administrative district, area of 2,119.8 sq mi -see http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Halifax_Regional_Municipality and scroll down the Right Hand Side to the red blob on the map- Rhode Island is 1,214 sq mi, by way of comparison) Now, wouldn't you think that, as we live some 20-30 miles west of the eastern boundary of HRM, that would cover us? Yes, I thought you might, and so did we. Well, the ad should read "We take Crap from anyone so long as they don't live further away from us than we care to drive in half an hour." OK, so next up is a company that serves the Eastern Shore. That's where we live, let's give them a call. "We don't go as far as Sheet Harbour - we used to, but it's too much of a distance." So, the third candidate does come to Sheet Harbour, but charges extra to do so. Friday afternoon we were going into Dartmouth - and Jerry's Septic Service was coming 7:30 am Saturday because the dumping station closes at noon on Saturday. THAT meant having to uncover the septic tank on Friday morning - a thing I did not have in my long range (or any other) planner! Fortunately, that tank has always had a covering of either sawdust (as when we bought the house) or peat moss (our choice) and is reasonably light work to get at. I replaced the original plywood lid with pressure treated boards covered with a double sheet of plastic with a layer of old roof shingles to protect the plastic from spades when the peat moss is removed years ago - and there was only about an inch and a half of frost in the moss. So, the man came as scheduled, took only 20 minutes to complete the job, and went on his way $600 richer. (plus $90 taxes which he probably doesn't keep [mischief]) There goes Christmas plans to treat ourselves to a new TV as our old CRT one is dying.- and Robby we have Bell TV which used to be ExpressVu, and that had some association with Direct TV IIRC. Price keeps going up. Do we continue? Cable isn't available here, so satellite - or two snowy channels (CBC and CTV - both Halifax stations, and snowy on Peasant TV because of the aforementioned distance issues) showing 80% stuff we aren't interested in......Hmmm, hard choices.
OK Zoe, THAT feels better, I'm done with the box - thanks.

Mrr? Did get the optical fibres put in that signal the way I hoped they would work. Have to work out a centering mechanism for the bundle in the signal head (the diameter of that is larger than the inside of the mast, so the bundle is off centre left to itself. I'll have to pack it somehow.

der5997: ISL is short for Industrial Switching Layout..I picked this up at a Advanced Layout Design meeting a while back.
A ISL is a layout based on industrial switching be it a single shelf, around the walls or the usual stand alone design and there is one industry per industrial siding..
The ISL is not based on the "Time Saver" or "Inglenook" switching puzzles designs since the ISL follows a prototypical design.

Afternoon folks!
Zoe I'll have toasted bacon and cheese and a cup of hot cocoa for lunch.
I was not only the Head Usher this morning at church, but the Howard Family got to light the 3rd. advent candle on the advent wreath... My son, his wife, the 2 granddaughters and I got to do the reading and then light the "pink" candle for the 3rd. Sunday in Advent. After church i have to clean up the sanctuary and get certain materials with the number of people in attendance over to the office, deal with the Usher's name tags and file them away, then took some photos of the sanctuary to show the installer where he will be putting in the new recording mics...... Service was over at 11:30, I got home around 1.
der5997 Ray: John.... Obviously you know little about the Presbyterian Church.......... More than you may think, as it happens, but I get your drift. My favourite quote along those lines is Fozzie's , in "The Muppet Movie"; on seeing The Electric Mayhem in the de-commissioned church building - "They don't look like Presbyterians to me." BTW, I heard back from the chap about that photo - he doesn't have it any more. I did find his original post to me in my trash. The image has a url on it, and I looked that up. Asked them about any issues for the use you mentioned in your PM, but they haven't replied. Time, marching as it does, I don't know what else to do on this one. Would you like the url and do your own questioning?

Yes! I remember THAT line! Went completely over the heads of most of the people who saw the movie I bet. I used to work as a musician for many years in the Episcopal Church... The line there was, "God's Frozen Few!" Also "Where 3 or 4 are gathered, you will also find a 5th." I think I'll quit while I'm ahead. Or in the words of Fats Waller, "I wouldn't be a Baptist ta save me"!

Todd, Hate to see what you are getting in your end of the state. It is pretty nasty down here. It is 19 degrees outside with a nasty wind and some snow. Low is going down to 8 degrees tonight. The Town Car does not like cold weather and can be a bite to start. With Monday being my first day at the new Slave Camp, I mean work it would not be a good thing if it does not start.
Sure glad I have the gas wall heater out here in the garage! Nice and toasty. I love snow, like another 5 inches or so.
Sue keeps saying it to cold to let the girls out. (Dogs) Does this dog look like she would get cold out side?
By the way, it is 8 days till Tiff can get her Drivers License. She will be 16 years young on the 20th. What do you buy a dog for her birthday anyway? OK, MEAT!
Speaking of Birthdays, Lee I am sorry I am late in saying . I have had a lot of stuff on my plate and been a little self centered.
Jeffery, I am sorry but again I have forgotten to get the postage cost on your stuff.
See you all Monday after work.

Well, I'll join THAT club, guys! Oh, Good Evening, Flo, I'll have a big Rio Grande mug of hot cocoa please, with a cinnamon roll - just nuke it about 10-15 seconds in the microwave, that'll do fine. Thanks!
That stuff called 'the rest of my life' has been getting in the way lately, including yesterday evening... I was on the way to my local WiFi spot (Panera restaurant), the light for the street I was on was green WITH the left turn arrow (the street's a secondary, the cross street is the main one and its traffic had stopped - I thought). As I'm turning left and about 45 degrees or so to the left, WHOOMP! My car gets tapped by a white car that came from somewhere on my right (remember, where the other traffic was supposed to be stopped?). I pull the car over to the curb (on the side of the main street I had been turning into), but after a few seconds there, I see the other car pull into the Panera drive to their lot, and I'm thinking that I'll still be somewhat blocking traffic where I am, so I pull my car into the Panera parking lot. The woman (not the fault of her gender, as I know many women who can drive better than THAT) admitted (in front of the officer who came by in a few minutes) that "It was totally my fault" (Yeah, I think so, too...), and that she was distracted by her two kids in the back seat (one was 3 years old, not much older than Ray's Emily Grace) (and I guess looked in the rear view mirror or turned around, neither one a good thing to be doing when approaching an intersection).
When I checked my car, the hood was up a little (like when you pull the latch lever inside), and there was scraping around the right headlight. Her left passenger door was dented (she must've been *really* moving) - I'm sure not only my guardian angel but definitely those of the two little ones were w**king extra hard that evening!
Now for the 'fun' part - my insurance company? - I have already signed papers with my agent, and I am scheduled on the 24th (in a coupla weeks or so) to change over to a new company. So the current insurance company will have to pay their people to get the money from the woman's insurance company, and then I will shortly thereafter be leaving them (so they will not be able to recoup their expenses from me by jumping my rates). From the woman's comments to the officer (and mine to inform the officer that MY light was green and I had the left turn arrow on for me), I will be greatly surprised if the report doesn't say it's the woman's fault. But I'm hoping there's no major structural damage to the frame or anything that they can't just replace with a swap of a panel. Don't want to have to be out the cost of a rental car (I did add that coverage to my new policy) while the repairs get done.
(Okay, let's move that back to the corner...)
On the MRR'ing front, I was able to find a place that had the (Walthers) painted & unlettered paired window heavyweight coach to complete my 'older-time' passenger train consist, and got also an old Magnuson "Edison Street Powerhouse" kit (in fine shape) at a good price. I still need to get the wiring for the layout done... Have too many 'to be continued' half-started projects that it would be nice to get further along on, too.
Forgot who it was that had (as a present for someone else, I think) got the Woodland Scenics pickup with the veggies in the back, but I've been eyeing that one - how good does it look?
I have my tree up and the lights on it (and around the window behind it), but need to get the ornaments and other decorations put up (maybe later tonight). The stockings (well, two of them, anyway) are up by the phone jack on the wall.
Still waiting to see how long it takes before my (grown?) daughter remembers my birthday (which was back on Nov. 30th - hmmm.....)
A belated to those other Diners whose birthdays I've missed while I was away. Hope you had a good day.
I'll be at the RC for a bit, sipping my hot chocolate and munching on my cinnamon bun.
Blessings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Well so far I've moved five items from my two listings. It's not much but at least I am getting rid of some of the stuff I don't need. Somebody here said they needed flatcars. There are three on the list.
MADE IT!!!! Looney day on the roads. How was I too know. Hot coffee please. Oh and a piece of Pecan pie. Thanks. Naasty out there just plumb nasty. Luckily the roads were occupied by professional expert drivers and they all could drive just as fast as when the roads are dry and you could see in front of you. Unfortunatley there were a few out there like me who aren't as good as they are and seemed to be horribly in the way. Of course, I won't need a tow truck.

Speaking of tow truck, as we were leaving, or as I was retrieving a screen that blew off the house, I heard the sirens from the fire department. Then Brenda got a call from her brother checking to see if we were OK. He had heard, how that soon I don’t know, that there was a 5 car pile up north of Williamsville on the highway. As we pulled out of town to go south on said highway, the state patrol was blocking the northbound exit. Couldn’t see far enough (blizzard, remember? B-L-I-doubleZ-erd. Visibility less than 1300 ft) to see the wreck. Got into the city and heard on the radio it was a 15 car pile up. Then in Mom’s room we saw the banner across the TV say a 20 car pile up. Ate at Ryan’s, almost had the whole place to ourselves. I thought it was romantic, Brenda thought not so much so. Good thing I didn’t choose to propose there. She would not have been impressed. Maybe the lights were too bright. Oh well home safe and warm and once again fat dog is asleep at my feet. Sounds like a plan.
Ray- I like that photo. Two things I hadn’t noticed when you posted it before. 1) I wouldn’t want to be the guy standing in the wagon with the horses acting that way and 2) I love the work you did on the crane. Bravo! Oh and kudos on the coloring for the platform also! Especially the framework.
Ken- You my friend, can have ALL my snow. No problems there. Just call me generous.
Welp, guess I’ll head on down to the train room and do some straightening up in preparation for my eventual return. I’m going to go ahead and finish the …..WHAT is THAT!!?? Holy moly! How is an animal suppose to survive in the wild when they snore like that? I’m surprised Ray didn’t hear that snorty snore. Anyway, I’m gonna finish the bench work on this half of the layout so I can w**k on completing the loop so I can run a train around. May take a bit to get to that point but I’ll get there. Big news when I do. Did I mention I found my tripod? I’ll use that on the next photos to see what difference it makes now that my neew camera can be set manually. Or……, not.
Jim- Glad you weren't hurt. I do believe a prayer of thanks is in order this eve.
Evening all,,, an irish coffee [heavy on the irish] please Flo.
Thought I’d drop in with a weather update from here, got tween 2” n 3” sn?w, high winds [gust to 30+] and fallin temps, with a winter weather advisory in effect till morning I think. Tomorrow, windy, blowing snow, high of 15 and no school., so it looks like I’m stuck inside with 6 kids all day. Good thing I’ve got plenty of duct tape.
Got the CB on,, guess there’s a pileup over by Effingham on 70,, and tempers are runnin just a tad short out there with slow going everywhere.
Best get movin,, the lights are kinda flickering now n then.
Happy birthday to those I’ve missed
Enjoyed all the pics so thought I’d leave Yazee Christmas pic
thoughts for all those in need n hope ya’ll stay warm

Good Evening All,
Lots of crazy weather last two days. No blizzard though we did get a couple of inches of snow. It cleared up last night for the company Christmas party and that went well. Had to get up and do my annual speech also. Today it was freezing rain early then buckets of rain followed by fog and the temp up to 54F. Right now it's in the 40's and clear. Go figure.
Jim - glad the only damage was to the cars. Those you can fix.
Todd - didn't qualify on pole in the snow eh?
Der - did the pooper scooper at least wear a mask - like the robbers in the olden days? And to add insult to injury you suspect he's keeping the GST, PST, LST and EST? Ouch.
Garry - that was quite a flight of fancy, no?
Spent storm time doing indoor HD stuff. Hang curtains, replace caulking on base of tub in bathroom, tidy up basement and add flourescents over hobby bench. Yeah - progress! I actually have the old staging yard (all 6 feet of it) mounted over the bench so I can activate it and use it to test rolling stock.
Well, enough excitement for one day. Good to see some missing names show up. Iove the duct tape comment Inch i always preferred the large size tyraps. Reusable and leave no tape residue. J.R.
Good Evening from Winterpeg,
It certainly is Winterpeg tonight as the temp is now -20F. I just came in from taking the dogs out in the backyard. Pippa can't see too well so I have to carry her in and out when it is dark. Luckily there isn't any wind tonight. I wear an old down filled parka that I bought 30 years ago. I really haven't seen any new high tech coats that are even close to being as warm as it is but then it was made right here in town when there used to be a big garment industry. Anyway I can stand outside in -30 and with the hood up I can't feel any cold at all. I also go out now at night as we have a great horned owl in a nearby golf course which parked in tree right beside our house a couple of weeks ago. While it couldn't carry off one of the dogs it sure could do a lot of damage. According to the info I read on them they would certainly try.
Well Mum's funeral went as well as could be expected yesterday. It was held in a little, very old church on the edge of the city. St. Pauls Middlechurch Anglican is the second oldest church in western Canada dating from 1825. About 60 people turned out which is really good considering it was a cold morning. Mum would have liked the service and we had a nice reception in the basement afterwards. We hired a classical guitarist to play at the reception as Mum loved music and was a very accomplished pianist and organist in her younger days. I grew up listening to Chopin. In a funy way I actually feel somewhat relieved as she is now at peace. The last few months were really hard on her.
Ken, Good Luck tomorrow! Say my FIL was a Town Car man too. He had a long string of Lincolns the last being a '99 Touring Edition. He really did love them. Great to hear Tiff is doing well and will soon join Pippa in the 16 year old club.
Will likely get started back on the model RR this week that is if I'm allowed the time as I've been informed I may have other plans by SWMBO.
Jim, Glad you came out unscathed from your auto accident. J.R. is right, bent metal can be fixed and from what you described it wasn't too serious.
Oh, to Todd, and the other mid-west diners, I am not responsible for your present snow, and wind. It didn't come from up here. Mind you likely can expect a delivery of nice, clear, sunny and cold weather soon as it usually comes after a winter storm. Did I mention that it is a dry cold? My compliments of the season when it arrives. Hope you have a block heater in your car!
Time for bed as it is back to work tomorrow.
CN Charlie
Good evening.
We've been on the southern fringe of the big wither storm and there is plenty of cold wind. It's 13 degees and headed for single digits. We have snow, too.. ... I have to wonder about the MN football stadium. Why build that style of roof in that climate?
Der John ... You were talking about plubing problems and then a place called Sheet Harbor". I was afraid you were reacing for a dirty pun. I though "Don't go there!"
Ray and Inch ... Thanks for sharing the pix of the grand kids! Cute!
Ken ... That's a beautiful dog.
Jim ... Sorry to hear about the accident. Glad you're not hurt.
JR... Did you like the plane? Actually it was a very interesting museum. ... Any progress yet rebuilding a layout? I still miss the picures of the old one. Feel free to re-post old pictires, and other diners will know hat I mean.
Todd ... Sounds like quite a pile-up on the highway there. Glad you were not involved. Perhaps, staying home would be best.
Ulrich ... I saw Europe had cold weather reported in the news last week.
Robby ... I did a little more weathering with the powders.
Jeff ... Your WPF photo with pedestrian bridge looked good, and I was pleased to see you got complimented for it.
I'm enjoying the 2 E7's. These are my first sound units. Two tegther is a bit too loud, however.
Evenin' folks!
Janie, just a decaf for me please.
W**ked on my Christmas Cards this afternoon and evening. Carted and stacked a couple wheelbarrow loads of firewood until it started to precipitate again.
For those of you who haven't got a tree yet, how about this: Holly Trolley
Think I'm going to turn in for the night, I fell asleep twice at the computer while printing stuff, and once after firing up my wood stove earlier this evening.
Keep safe and have a great night!
CN Charlie ... Just read your post. Sad to learn about Mum's funeral. Also, I should not complain about our weather based on what yours is like.
Just stopped in before going seepy seep. Still windy out there. I thought it was suppose to die down about 9.
J.R.- LOL! Nope didn't get the pole. In fact I believe I was lapped a few times. (chuckle)
This weather does not bother me as far as having to drive in it. I grew up learning driving in the country back when we got some snow. And I mean some snow. We haven't had that much n years. It's the other yahoo's that I worry about. Usually when it's bad I don't drive unless I have too for that reason.
Inch- Hope you don't loose power.Sounds like you got more snow than we did. We maybe got 2" but most blew up into piles. Another cute grand daughter.
Maybe I'll get a good picture of my grand daughter to post. Don't hold your breath though.
Charlie- I'm glad to hear the funeral went well.
I don't blame any one for the weather. Well, maybe the French. But not much. I had plenty of opportunities to live in more, how shall I say, hospitible climates. Several times before I became entrenched in the area, I had the chance to resettle in Austin, but nooooo. Oh well. If I had, I wouldn't have met Brenda therefore....., would have been no Missy.
Garry- I had the same thought myself about the roof. One would not have expected that type roof in the land of heavy snowfall.
