Zoe, lets see what shall I have to go along w/ my dark roast coffee (in a FGLK mug) this morning.  Ah donuts!  yes!  I shall have 2 of the Bavarian creme filled donuts........   Now where did I put my tin foil hat?

Looking at this weeks responsibilities, what do I have left?  Oh, I think I need to contact all the Deacons who signed up to serve communion this Sunday and remind them about it.  On Pentecost Sunday we Deacons get to serve communion in our church.  Once a year thing.  Every other month the Elders get to do THAT.  Guess I better prepare the sheets for who serves where and get them ready to take with me Sunday.  Tomorrow I plan to help out over at the R&GV Museum.

And TODD wins the prize. It is an early to mid 50's camper, which I pickup at train show some time ago. It looks kinda like ours, a 1960 Shultz [think that spelled right] only ours has the wings on the back.

  

The ones that I have seen and remember with the wings were Shasta.

Still a very nice scene though, I would like to camp there.  How's the fishing???????????

Galaxy- I'm praying that your docs find something to help ease your problems?

Jeff- I'm loving the look of that van!  On the fact of your police air-horn, I have heard of an engineer at Transit that attached a full GP40 air-horn to his car.  There are several videos on the EWE-Tube, but I haven't figured out which one is him yet...

Joe- Glad to hear you got a job at the beach checking tags!  Don't forget the sunblock!  I've seen some of the new people leave the first day looking like a lobster... OUCH!

I'll hopefully be back in later today... I won't be able to get on at all next week, as I will be in Manassas, VA starting my training with the VRE!  Hopefully in a few weeks I can afford a laptop so that I can take it with me... we shall see!

 Jeff...I am not sure about the laws in your state. But I know for a fact from being a previous auto technician and licensed state vehicle inspector that here in N.Y modifications to the fuel system like that would be an automatic inspection failure. Our vehicles our inspected annually mechanically and for emissions on the newer years. So check engine lights can cost people thousands to get a sticker. Does LS have anything like that where you have to get your car inspected?..I know N.Y just does it to **** off everyone..bad enough they raised the rates on everything from licenses to plates and registration.

Down here in the south the inspectors don't check things like that, and even it they did as long as it's completely sealed off from the passenger compartment it's allowed. Hot rodders and antique car buffs do it all the time with fuel cells and adapted tanks. State inspections here consist of checking the headlights, taillights, turn signals, tires, horn and glancing underneath to see if there's a catalytic converter.

 Worked all day, and I'm ready for the weekend.  Going to a "train" get together tomorrow at a friends house.  I believe about 30+ people will be at the party.  All train buffs!!!   That should be fun.  So I doubt I will be in here tomorrow.

Evenin' folks!

Flo I'll have the petite Prime Rib (med. rare) with the twice baked potato and some fresh asparagus from the garden out back. And a glass of Finger Lakes Riesling to wet the pallet.  I'll go sit in the back and rest.

Ahhhhhh.  Feels good to sit down.  I mowed about 2/3s of the lawn early afternoon and then spent an hour and a half on my hands and knees digging out the durned morning glory from the asparagus/herb garden by the side of the house.  Also ran several errands during the day today as well.  I will finish up the lawn before dark, I hope.

My box from Fast Tracks arrived today!  As soon as my LHS gets me the code 83 ME rail i have ordered, I will be in the business of making up turnouts for the quarry area and start to lay the additional track.  May peruse the DVD they send out with the forms tonight just to get a better idea of what I need to do.

Didn't tell you guys yesterday, but I had heated up one of the 2 hunks of prime rib that was left over from the dinner on Wednesday last night.  Sta down to eat, got a halfway through the dinner, and the phone rang.  It was the president of the MLK Committee who needed a phone # to be able to return a pair of prescription sunglasses left at the dinner.  I went to the computer to look up the number, he thanked me and I hung up.  Got back to the dinner table to find Blackie, the cat, hovering over my plate and licking his chops as if to say, "THAT is good daddy, can have some more!"   i was NOT happy!  He has been very lovey today and has made up for his indiscretion......  I didn't finish the prime rib.

 Jeff........Talk about some crazy laws.  In NC if you point your finger at someone, you can charge them for assault.   Here's another dumb one from NC.  If your neighbors dog (female) came in your yard and was in "heat", you can take that neighbor to court and sue for $50.!!!!

Up here in the great state of confusion,  ah, New York, we have some really important laws like:

Citizens may not greet each other by “putting one’s thumb to the nose and wiggling the fingers”.

"It is against the law to throw a ball at someone’s head for fun."

"A person may not walk around on Sundays with an ice cream cone in his/her pocket."

Oh by the way, the penalty for jumping off a building is death.

And in Ocean City New York..... Eating while swimming in the ocean is prohibited.

BTW I found a great bumper sticker for your Van....

Der, shoot, all you need for N scale wiring is a 24 ounce can of your Monster energy drink of choice. that makes the tedious jobs less tedious! Well, this week I've been reviving a bachmann station kit and today I installed the station and some scenery on the layout. Also got down two museum display tracks, but only have one filled. Also began building the conveyor system on the Dixie Quick-Mix plant. First, some station scenes: Finally, somewhere to proudly display this Atlas car! And here's the build of the conveyor system. first, the housing on the low building: and looking at the scene in progress: N-JOY!

 Now as for a stupid law or two, in this state it's illegal to gargle in public places. Can you believe that? Wanna get ten years behind bars? Steal an alligator. There are a bunch of others that are real beauties but I'm definitely NOT going there.

There are funny laws everyplace. In a nearby small town I grew up in it is illegal to carry a  lunchpail or lunchbag down Main or Front streets. WHy? that is where the ginormous wealthy people mansions  are and they did not want to see "common folk"  carrying their lunchpails on the way to work!  {McMansions often had a common folk apartment in the back second floor to let out in addition to servants quarters in the attic of said houses}

Also until recently, the garbage trucks actually had to back up each drive way of the McMansions to clean up the garbage cans out in sheds out in the backs of said mcmansions.That was so there was no refuse on the curb "to destroy and mar the beauty of the homes on Front and Main Streets".  NOw they, who live in the mcmansions, too, must carry their trash to the curbside for pickup. Saves fuel and wear and tear on the garbage trucks. Darn! it now looks SO awful the night before garbage collection day on Front and Main streets with all that crap curbside. YUK! MY Goodness! Just like any other neighborhood now around here with refuse on the curb fpr collection. How sad. WHat is the world comming to when wealthy people must put their trash curbside?

And yes, it is illegal for a person to carry an icecream cone in their back pocket on a Sunday. I don't know who does such things, but it is illegal.

SOmewhere out west it is illegal to move a bed on Sunday. I think it was some Christian folk didn't like seeing a bed move across the street on a Sunday!

There are more but I wouldn't want you to be bored.

Feeling better with the catheter out. Remains to be seen if I am "functioning normally" and voiding all fluids. HAd to stop one of the muscle relaxers the neuroligist gave me as I take Ciprofalaxin as an antibiotic for my bladder and the do not apparently interact very well. SO back to the old muscle relaxer. I watch the intake of Oxycontin as It doesn"t always sit well with me and if I am going out need not to be under the influence of it especially if I have to drive! The hydrocodone I take I tolerate well, but it and oxycontin still have a droopy effect on me togetehr.

See the neurosurgeon the 17th of next month if I haven't said so already. WE will see what he says.

Prayer candle will lit for those in need this weekend. Thanks to all those who have said prayers for me.

 Been busy today. Went to town this morning with the parents to get a few errands taken care of then came back and worked on the gas tank a bit. I cleaned it out as best I could. Hardly any diesel crud in it now. I installed a ten inch long piece of rubber fuel hose inside to serve as the suction line and clamped it in place. That was a lot harder than it sounds. Tomorrow I may get the chance to close up the hole in the top where the fuel pump was. I figure a metal jar lid buried under a bunch of marine epoxy should do the trick. I also cut what was left of the old filler hose off the tank. The next project will be to build a support cradle that will be bolted to the floor. Once the tank is set into it a couple of braces running across the top should keep it from going anywhere. The filler nozzle on the van will have to be moved a bit higher to put it above the top of the tank and I'll have to see what path the filler hose will take. I should be able to fashion one from a truck radiator hose, some connectors and clamps. That should prove to be an interesting project. After that will come the job of constructing an enclosure around the whole thing to keep the fumes out. It will be of course be vented to the outside to avoid a buildup.

Had some thunder boomers and heavy round here yesterday with some flooding. The Legion in Marshall had 5" of water in the basement when the storm drains couldn't handle it. Mothers got 18'th district meeting upstairs today. We went over and helped with some cleaning last evening.

Out with the unhappy stomach again. I think some of my meds may make my gut more sensitive than normal. Ever since I started taking it, I've been having more issues with it than ever before. I'm hoping I am back to normal by this afternoon so I can hit that ops session.

I put a steel cap over the hole in the top of the gas tank this morning, using lots of JB Weld. It was a perfect fit. It should be well set by tomorrow morning. I'll cover it with plenty of epoxy to close up any cracks that may remain.

Good Morning. Pulled a naughty naughty and slept til 9:30 this morning. Don't know why but I've just been real tired this week. Last week too. I guess today was a catchup. Still feel tired though. I probably need to eat more Jalapeno's.

My day today, what's left of it anyway, probably clean up a bit in the trainroom ( needs it baaaaaaad), maybe apply some more cardboard strips for the other tunnel/hillside until graduation party for friends daughter at 1. Then probably make the hospital rounds, Mom fell yesterday and is in the hospital for a possible broken shoulder, the Xrays say no, but the doctor seems to think the xrays aren't showing it(?) bad angle? Don't know. Keith probably would though. Aaaand Anthony, the grandson, is back in the hospital. Daughter took him in for a fever and he complained of his stomach hurt so she panic and took  him in. Good thing I guess, they are concerned that the cyst hasn't shrunk as much as it should and that the cyst is causing problems again. They will do surgery on Monday to cath the cyst and see what happens over the next several days/weeks. THEN, the restaurant wants me to come in tonight if I could when I get done, to see if they might need me to help out.( I didn't tell her about the hospital people or she probably wouldn't even have asked) The dishwasher called in party and they don't know if they can cover well without him. I said I'll stop in and see. No promises when I would get there.

Well I see the neighbor across the road is mowing and the sun is shining. Beautiful day that, as I look at the clock on the screen, is slipping away. Fast. I best get a moving if I want to get anything done in the basement before I must prepare to leave. No time or yard w**k now so might as well do train w**k.

 I'd been working outside earlier trying to determine where I'll have to reinforce the floor in the rear of the van for the tie-downs. That requires getting underneath the beast. No mean feat that since it sits quite a bit higher than a car does. No, the problem is getting up again. That's a lot of work for me and I do believe I overdid it, again. I've been resting for the last 30 minutes and wondered why I felt so tired so I checked my blood sugar level and sure enough it was low. Down to 52 on the first check, 60 on the second. So I have a batch of buttered rice cooking. That'll give me a good shot of starch and protein. That'll get my level back up and out of the danger range but I'm finished today as far as work goes. It'll have to wait until tomorrow. If I try to get any more work like that done today I run the risk of doing some real harm. Next big job will be to drill the holes for the tie-downs and I also have to drill tyhe matching holes in the reinforcing plates that will be tack welded in place below the floor pan. That's gonna be fun! NOT!! Guess you can see why I have to tackle this project just a little at a time.

  Not to play "retired armchair paramedic," but reminds me of a patient at the factory...turned out to be a torn rotator cuff. X-rays were right: no fracture. MRI found the tear. Just a thought...hope she gets to feeling better soon! Also sorry to hear the grandson is back in the shop... hope all goes well for the little guy, Lord knows he's been through more than enough already!

Did the mowing thing again today...a weekly exercise anymore. Felt OK when I was done, the headache finally found me however. 

 

Managed to spend a little time in the RR room today, splashed some more paint around...the room is actually looking pretty good. If not for Tori's 4 cylinder heart transplant... I'd be looking at some lumber this weekend or next. *sigh*

Maybe next month.

Have a good-'un, gonna go have a little lie-down for awhile...

Good late afternoon folks!

Flo, I'll have a Hot Turkey Sandwich and fries (with gravy) and a Dr. Pepper tonight.  I wait to later for desert...

I seem to have what is going around here today, sore and achy, or sure will be by tomorrow morning.  I w*rked out at the museum doing a bunch of odds and ends and just helping out where I was needed today for about 4 and a half hours.  Started helping out late in the morning with some surveying being done for new trackage where the Empire Express will stored.  Our track by agreement has to be a minimum of 6" lower than the main line of the LA&L RR.  After lunch a couple of us did some repairing, ajusting, and an oil change on a little dump cement hauler...  Not sure what the formal name for it is.  Powered by an ancient 2 cylinder air cooled engine.  Probably hadn't been started in a couple years.  Then helped a guy load and haul out a bunch of old scrap engines.  On the largest engine sitting on a small trailer, we got it out of where it was sitting only to find a robin's nest on the engine.  A couple of us carefully moved the nest and set it on an Erie crane right next to where the engine was.  Probably the hatchlings are doomed, but we decided we would give them a chance to be found by the parents......  We moved it without actually touching the nest with our hands so as not to leave our scent on the nest.

By the time I got home i could barely get out of the car.  I'll take an advil later.

Todd hope your Mom recovers from the fall with no problems.  Will keep her in my prayers.

I think I will find my way down to the basement where it is cool nd do a bit of painting on the Steam Shovel.

Todd ... you have bad news. I'm very sad to know your grandson is back in the hospital. Is the court case still pending against the %$@*&! that beat him? Also, prayers for your Mom's recovery from her fall.

 I'm still working on the layout although I should have doen some non-model-railroad stuff outside today with the good weather.

 Jeff ... sounds like you are making good progress with the van. Feel free to tell Ray what to do with his bumper sticker idea.

I had no more than posted earlier when I noticed my son had called about an hour before I got home.  I called back and he said they were just sitting down to dinner and come on over if I wanted to.  So I climbed in the car and got over in time to have supper and dessert, and spend some time playing with my Granddaughters. 

Todd, earlier I somehow missed that your grandson is back in the hospital.  Sorry to hear of that, but i know he will be in good hands!  He and the rest of the family are in my prayers!

Hey THAT ain't work!  I do those things just for fun.....  Wish I had time to spend a lot more time out there.  The museum is looking very good this year after the removal of tons and tons of junk vehicles, cranes, bulldozers, old engines that will never run again, etc., etc., etc.

 The party was real good.  About 30+ people showed up.  Mainly CSX engineers.
