Sir Madog
Today, we have received the official and formal notification of the foreclosure auction of our house - it´ll happen within the next couple of weeks. Not that I was hoping to be able to save it for us, but it is just, that I don´t have the strength to go through all of this.

I just caught up on posts...  We (my wife, myself, and the church I attend) will keep you in our prayers...  We know that you will pull through this, He will see you through.  There is a plan, one that we cannot see or understand at the moment we are in it, but there is a plan that He has set us on the path of.  We just have to follow that path as best we can.  I have strayed many a time, but thankfully He has watched over me and protected me, as I know He is doing with you now.  Stay safe my friend!

BTW, thank you for the wonderful video!  I was floored as I watched in HD!

EDIT: I got Top Honours!   Eat up my friends, the menu is wide open!  Chloe and Zoe, I'll settle up later, have some more tinkering to do!  I have become officially ADDICTED to sound equipped locos!

Sam

May He bless you, guide you, and keep you safe on your journey through life!

Afternoon ya'll

So arm is much better, but of course murphy' law kicked in. I've got the upset stomach (again) from a hot place... So much for weathering today. I'll be at the table next to the stall, with just a jug of ginger ale.

Jeff, One is an athearn in PRR, the other is a bachmann that was RI but has athearn trucks and body-mounted couplers. The PRR one had a mishap when I tried to remove the automobile lettering, the RI's lettering came off when I was applying a wash.

Garry, nice work on that caboose

Wants: 1. high-quality, sound equipped, SD40-2s, C636s, C30-7s, and F-units in BN. As for ones that don't cost an arm and a leg, that's out of the question....

2. An end to the limited-production and other crap that makes models harder to get and more expensive.

Well, just came up from the basment. Need a big glass of something cold to wash down all the sheetrock dust. I'm done for the day. Time to clean up and check the old eye lids for light leaks.

See ya all tomorrow!

Evening ya'll, some chicken noodle soup and ginger ale.

The stomach is feeling better, but I'm gonna take it easy for a while. No more eating the whole 1 pound bag of beef jerky or the gallon jar of peanuts...

Believe you me, after I've worked on that paper for an hour I'll be ready to tear somebody's head off.

You, my young friend, may well just be qualified for a "fun never ends" career in....newspapers!!!! I say THAT 'cause THAT's exactly how I felt after writing up the last school board meeting...or was it the County Supervisors' meeting? No. Wait! It was BOTH! Mischief  Good luck to you in the upcoming battle...we're all hoping you make it out a) alive, and b) fully intact...above and below the scrum!Big Smile

haha,. thanks man. i actually want to get a bachelor's degree in english as well as a major in engineering to keep a magazine career open or something.

thansk for the well wishes, and you too Barry.

We lost tonight though. I didn't play much, but I'm fine with that b/c of how much we ran at practice this past week. One of our wing forwards got hurt and we only had two subs, myself and the other lock (we ahve two guys who can play both prop or lock) and I had to go in at wing forward. now that was interesting, but way more fun than lock! never practiced there though, but learned quick lol.

Evenin' folks!

Just a decafe for me Flo,  I am still stuffed from the Prime Rib I had at the party for my son's MIL tonight.

Other than family, the only person I knew there was one of my students from way back.  I walked over to her during dinner, leaned over, and said, "You know it must a credit to my living a good life that other than you, I have no idea who any of these people are!"  Most everyone not in the family were nurses from the local hospital.  After dinner the game was to have her friends from work call her on her cell phone.  She got about 25 calls in a 10 minute time period, from across the room.......  I told her she was now retired and could just turn the darn thing off!  After a few more calls she held up her phone and showed them she turned it off...  They then started calling her daughter and having her give the phone to "Mom".

This will be a busy weekend, Emily actually turned 1 year old today, but the party will be tomorrow and Sunday.  Yep 2 day celebration!  Oh!  Emily took her first step yesterday!  They are hoping the new furniture THAT was supposed to be delivered last week will arrive from the store tomorrow morning (Remember the party thing?), before guests start to arrive.......

No hobby time today, hopefully tomorrow.

Sawyer, sounds like you enjoyed the game!  I'd say that is more important than winning.  I fully believe we need to teach our young people it is OK not to win every once in a while.  I think you have already learned the lesson!

Ray, oh yes lol, we're winless this season haha.

Been there, Done THAT!

About 30 years ago, I was JV Girls Softball coach for the tiny little School I was teaching music at (500 students k-12).  In the 2 years I coached, we won 1 game.  I was very proud of the girls as they made excellent skills progress and became good contenders the second year.  If it weren't for some bad injuries, we would have won a couple of other games I'm sure.  At the end of the year Sports Banquet, it was announced they expected I would be taking over as Boy's Varsity Baseball Coach as I was the only coach of a ball team that had actually won a game during the season......Whistling  At Elba, We didn't really expect to win many games as all the schools we played were anywhere from 3 to 10 times our size.  That's right we were playing schools that had 5,000 students to our 500!  If we got to finish a game against a couple of schools (20 after 5 rule) we considered it was a win for us.  I was also the first JV Softball coach there as they had never had a JV team before.  I really enjoyed working with those kids!

You keep the good attitude you have and enjoy playing!

Ray, I will man. whenever we play a game we feel like we've won because we've progressed, and next year I expect we'll get rolling a bit. I'm a freshman, I've got 3 years after this and I'm looking forward to them! but we still have 2 games to play and we're really hungry for a win. I've played with a lot of teams in my town's rec league sports though, and I've won a championship only once (this past fall). that was a good feeling, and I'm hoping to do some soccer reffing this spring with my mom in the rec league

 Good Morning Everyone,

the night brought us about 4" of sn*w again - I had hoped that we had seen the last of THAT for this year! The weather beguessers are even predicting more to come in the next days - well, it was not me who ordered it and I am not paying for it!

Zoe, I´ll have a cup of decaf and a roll - I have to be easy on my old ticker, who is giving me problems again. Before I sit down there in the corner booth, are there any whoopie cushions around? No, you have collected all of them and locked them away - a very good of you!

I have made plans to  re-start my MRR activities, on much smaller scale, though. I don´t mean going to N scale, but the size of the layout. There is a little space on the wall I can use for some type of a display. It is only 7´ by 1 1/2´, but it could be a start. Petra has basically approved to the investment, providing that I buy this "lovely looking" steam loco. It´ll be of British outline, just because it is "so cute" and, the best part of it, it is cheap when compared to German or US stuff. The start will be in DC, as I still have a power pack and  a throttle which I had built some years ago, but so what! It will mean a complete change of direction, but I don´t mind, as it is affordable, even under given circumstances. I need to do this, just to keep my sanity and health.

Here is the plan:

The voucher I still have from our "Home Depot" covers the lumber and the hardware I need, so the next days will see a trip to this place to buy it.

The "so cute loco" looks like this:

Cab detail:

It is made by Bachmann, a premium brand in the UK and it is sold for about 80 Euros, including shipping to Germany. A comparable German loco would be around 200 Euros! Of course, that funny horn-hook type coupler has to be replaced by a Kadee, but that is an easy task, as it has a NEM (European NMRA) standard coupler box. Just the old one out and the new one in!

The prospect of getting back into model railroading revives my spirits!

You all have a good day!

That's a very good looking loco Ulrich. I have a bachmann loco that's similar (Hall type) but the detail is nowhere near as good.

Gooooood morning all. Waffles and scrambled eggs with salsa please. What's that smell? Oh, hope you feel better Barry. What's that Janie? The guys are blaming whoopie cushions? Well I can't believe that!

Beautiful morning out there.

More hauling stuff out of mom's house to the dumpster. Yesterday I found a small cache of 1X4's so that will be added to the dwindling pile I have and put off another purchase of them for a bit. Today will naturally be disrupted. I've been asked to tend bar tonight and though I could really use the time to work out at Mom's house, he pays cash in the hand and that's pretty convincing. Soooo, I'll be leaving Mom's early to go in to work.

Ulrich- I only hope you begin to feel better when this mess is over and done. Then you will not have the constant reminder of the hardship that has fallen on you. You should start focusing on what you will do next. I'm pulling for you.  And GOOD FOR YOU! There you go! Build your empire in modules as space and money allow. At least you have a start and you are not pinned down if, excuse me, WHEN your luck turns around you can move it and expand to what you want, or in the meantime, just expand as you can. Keep in mind that any future additions should not limit you to any future unknown limitations.

Garry- Yes the meeting went well. I guess. I did discover that I lead a very, um how do I put it, leisurely?, life. When asked what time I saw, what day, who told me, any question that required specifics, I couldn't give a specific answer. I constantly said, I'm not a clock watcher, and I can't even tell you what today is without thinking, so two weeks from now I'll just know I was here, have a general idea of what you asked me (sort of) and your name and face will be gone from my memory, (actually already is. Couldn‘t pick him out of a crowd of two unless I knew who the other one was) Really though, what did Anthony eat and what time did he arrive at our house, and what time did he eat and what time did Brenda take him home three weeks ago? I'm not a clock watcher so I had no idea. Especially since this was before the "incident" and was of absolutely no significance what anything that happened was any more than, if, and what time, I saw a light on at a neighbors house on the 3rd of February.

Who's Robby know to get all those 1:1 cars parked outside the window?

Best get a move on.

Have a Great Day!!!

Thanks  for that video link - especially the Ribble viaduct one! Thumbs Up The loco Petra approves looks very much like the class of loco in the videos, am I right? I remember making "Micro-model" card stock models of those as a kid at school (age 9-10) - they weren't exactly child's play  'though  as many adult modelers super-detailed them to fantastic levels (like their total layouts these days!). The scale would be comparable to Z. Out of curiosity I Googled Card Models UK, and here's  a FAQ page that shows the serious side is alive and well!  That twin traverser layout looks very workable, and isn't heavily into turnouts! How long a train do you anticipate getting on the traversers?

Bill - wasn´t it W.C. Fields, who once stated "I came to Chicago, but it was closed!"
...and what did Toledo Ohio do to John Denver to earn his comment "They roll up the sidewalks precisely at ten, and the people who live there are not seen again"? Tongue

Keith:

I also realized I needed Double Yellow lines.
...the tape allows you to adjust and remove, which you will have a more challenging time doing with decals. The thickness of the tape isn't an issue, if you're concerned about that, unless the lines are very foreground stuff. How about trying the tape to get the layout and spacing right, then making the permanent lines with decals if need be. I'm thinking just applying wet decal lines about 1/32nd inch wide as straight as they need to be to be convincing would put you into a dexterity ranking second to none! Doble yellow tape lines look like this.

Jerry:

I ordered 100 figures from Hong Kong on Ebay
...That's a great deal he offers isn't it. Mine are "in limbo" waiting until the layout's advanced to the population phase! Smile. The vehicles are good too (although not North American market from their styles); and a tad too modern for your era I think.

Sam:

Having it set up here means that I won't have to leave the 'puter to work on the layout, and or vice-a-versa!
Yep, sounds like a plan

Smile,Wink, & Grin

Didn't get in yesterday because I was moving forward on the Cornerstone sanding tower, and got side tracked in putting mortar into the brick drying house - THAT lead to doing the engine houses, (and I've yet to dry-brush red brick onto the grey brick one to make both more similar); but I did get the basic tower put together.

I could have done the ladder too, but one of the supports broke on assembly, and I wanted the repair to dry overnight. Besides, I'll do the ladder and cage yellow like all the other ladders on MT buildings. That should tie those all together as suggesting one owner with a liking for safety features! Clown  I doubt I'll use the piping supplied by Cornerstone, but go for the wire piping I used on the scratch built one. (no added cost, it's the handle part from the New Year's Eve sparklers! Approve)

I'll take a Medium black coffee, and a slice of banana bread please Zoe; and go to see if Duke has left room for another person in the back booth. TTFN.

Seems to me (he says keeping one eye on the soapbox in the corner) THAT kids also need to learn THAT it's OK to win!

LOL, yeah, THAT too.  I have to say at least from my experience a lot of people insist not only THAT it is OK to Win, but YOU MUST WIN AT ALL COSTS ALL THE TIME!!!  Or else!  And if you do lose it must have been because the other team cheated.......Whistling  Maybe people should spend more time teaching our children how to win and lose graciously (In sports and other things) and how to play fair.

I remember a gentleman (and he meets the definition) who was at the time a guitar student of mine and was a teacher at a meeting discussing a proposed waste to energy incinerator project our county had concocted many years ago.  (I won't go into the pros and cons....) He lived about 1/2 mile from where the project would be built.  At one point in a public meeting on it he said, "It just isn't fair".  Immediately the lawyer for the company pushing the project stood up and yelled at him, "I thought you said you are a teacher?  Don't you teach kids THAT life isn't fair?!?"  He very calmly replied, "No sir, I  teach kids to play fair."  BTW the project ended up being cancelled and the county went with recycling instead.  I think we should be teaching our children to "Play Fair" (both in sports and in a lot of other things).

OK Flo, you can put the SoapBox away.....Whistling

It's a beautiful, sunny day here in the Finger Lakes.  Currently 35°F with blue skies (Smilin' on me, Nothin' but Blue Skies....)  Why do I keep doing THAT?  I probably will do the bookw*rk and stuff for my annual Business Sales Tax report and get it done online.  Hope to do some cleaning up and odds and ends done in the train room today.  Tomorrow is Emily's first Birthday Party!

I'll check in later I'm sure, so have a great day!
