Good morning all. Coffee and a stack of pancakes please. Yup, buttermilk. Let's see, how about some blueberry syrup thank you.

Thanks for the B-day wishesApprove. It was a pretty good day, I got to Castle Trains, my FLHS, and picked up the #4 right hand turn out the lil 4-4-0 will use to get to the station in the tourist town and some scale lumber for the trestle. Tom, the guy that works during the week in the day, both days, was real helpful with the sizes of lumber to get. Get THAT from the internet! Ok so I could have got it here, but I needed it there and I keep forgetting to ask or do some resear.... Well, you know what I mean. Anyway, got slammed hard at work last night. Was behind most all night long. Started out the prep work from the night before wasn't done. Half the topping bins were empty. The ones you had to cut up, dice or mix of course. So, when I came in and there were two pizza orders hanging and no toppings prepared. Then it hit, everybody wanted pizza. They somehow knew the toppings I had to get cut up or we were short on. Then discovered, the hard way, the guys the night before didn't do all the dishes from the night before and we ran out, had to stop, and wash some dishes just to be able to serve like three times, and, of course, that throws everything else behind. Snowball effect ya know. I'm going back to work, this retirement is too hectic.

Ulrich- Nice, uh...., whatever that isThumbs Up. I kinda like it. It appears to be pretty good job of weathering already. Does it come that way? Or is that a "model shown depicts a few options and custom work done. The model you receive will not look like the picture" picture. I'm glad you are being able to get some Mring in. Your tone seems much happier. I think it will be good for you. Therapy. HEY! There's an idea, see if you can get the railroad financed by calling it "Therepy" (EDIT: I'd spell it correctly if I were you thoughLaugh)

Rob- Say! Those trees look good. I'm going to have to try my hand at some also.

Robby- Hang in there. When the weather breaks good, that first weekend, look out. Hopefully your tip pocket will fill as fast as the owners cash register.

Ah I hear the morning freight across town.

Keith- Thought of you yesterday at the FLHS as I was doing the "after getting the needed stuff perusing" Saw an El Camino by Model Power. Only it was yellow and was a '68 or '69. Still almost bought it, 3 or 4 bucks. I always thought they were cool. Best of both worlds ya know.

DerJohn- Yes I agree. I have no problem with an employer using the "likely to get tips" reason for paying minimum wage. But here they can pay them less. I agree with you, I don't think that's right either. If a person does something and a customer feels they want to give them a bit of a tip, THAT should be between the patron and the server. I also have a problem with tipping off the billAngry. Should it cost me more because my meal cost more? Even though the waitress made fewer trips to my table on a $25 dollar steak dinner as she did on a $7 burger and fries over at the next one because he had umpteen refills and I had one? I know others feel differently, but I have literally run myself ragged on a less than $13 table of four with one 2 topping large pizza "and 4 glasses of water please. Could we get some lemon with those? Could I get some more ice? Oh, I'm sorry he didn't want any ice in his water. Can we get a dough ball or something to occupy the kids? Could she get some ranch dressing for her pizza. I'm sorry now he'd like some ice." and breezed right through a $50 table of 2. Irks me to get $2 to run a rut to the 13 dollar table of 4 (Hey, 15%, they tipped well) and barely even bring anything extra to the couple who left $10!!!!

I'm going to the basement.

Have a Great Day!!!

... some words to that "sheepish" looking Diesel. It is a Class 26 Diesel-Electric, built in the late 1950´s as British Rail´s bread-and butter loco to be used in freight, as well as passenger service. Only 45 were built, as they were "a little light on their feet", with only 1,160 HP. Top speed was 80 mph, qualifying them for commuter service around London mainly. In the 1960´s, all of them were moved to the Scottish region of BR, were they saw mixed service until the early 1990´s.

The model on the picture is made by Heljan in Denmark. It comes with a wealth of user fitted detail parts. The pictured model has only a prototype coupler added and some light weathering done. Those beasts sell for 65 Pounds in UK, DCC ready with standard plug, plus a space and fittings for a 23 mm loudspeaker. The price translates into 80 Euros delivered to Germany vs. 130 Euros reg. price here.  For 80 Euros you don´t get a loco in Germany, unless it is a toyish Class 185 Electric from Piko. With a weight over 2 pounds, they are hefty pullers and smooth runners! Looking forward to getting it into my hands, as soon as PayPal is able to handle my payment to UK.

I should send it to Robby P. for weathering... Whistling

Edit: That real estate guy just called- there are people interested  in buying our house. If that turns out to be true, it ´d mean avoiding foreclosure in the last minute!

I'm trying my friend. Sometimes it's not easy, but I'm not giving up.

Ulrich, the track plan is looking good. I hope you get the chance to make it a reality.

I will make it a reality, Jeff - all I need is to buy a little track and those 4 switches, as I still have the check for the lumber ... Big Smile. Todd is absolutely right, it is the best therapy one can think of. Unfortunately, we don´t get it on a prescription...

Petra and I are really worried about you. Petra´s brother suffers from much the same as you do, and we both know, how nagging and dragging this can be. Don´t let it get you, my friend!

Hey, I haven't given up yet. I wish Petra's brother all the best in his battle with this. I do hope he doesn't have to cope with the daily bouts of muscle and bone pain that I do. That can take a lot out of a person and make a simple job nearly impossible. If it wasn't for the pain meds I wouldn't be able to do many of the everyday tasks that are required just to survive. I wouldn't wish this on anybody.

Good morning--

mmmm---we  are sunny today and going to a high of 18C. This is nice! Next week we'll see sun, showers, dull and what all else----but the lowest we'll be for a high sounds like 7C. Not bad---

All kinds of stuff has to be completed this weekend so we're off and running around. Tonight I have my own classes to work on and then weekend seminars to do as well.

Ulrich, or anyone else here: Are you able to go through a bank account with Paypal? I'm kind of considering this as a possibility for Eric and/or his dad but I'm not so sure(?)

I'lll have a coffee please-----I'll be at the RC for a bitBig Smile

Barry - yes, you can! You just have to register your bank account with PayPal and you can either have them draw the money for your order from this account or you transfer it from your bank to your PayPal account. This is exactly where my payment went wrong - apparently the reference was incorrect. Their or my mistake [%Whistling-)]. I had to transfer the money from my PayPal account back to my bank account Confused Whistling Banged Head

On the invoice for the shipping charges, all went correct.

Mornin' everyone!

Zoe I'll have a short stack if buttermilk pancakes to go along with the dark roast coffee in a R7GV mug.  Please and Thank you!

Last night's Hysterical Society meeting was excellent!  Our local photography expert did a slide show on "Railfaning in Black and White".  He had some awesome photos, most taken when he was a teenager in the 1980s.  Well worth the drive to Rochester.  Harold Russell MMR is the historian of the group and did a short presentation on the L.C. Forman Co., inc. of Pittsford, NY.  L. C. Forman Co. was a producer of pickles.  Company was later purchased by R. T. French (French's Mustard).  Pickles from L. C. Forman were shipped all over the country in the car he owned and were then often packed by other companies under their own brand.  Yep one car.  That's it.  Original car was built in 1917 and was replaced with LCFX 2 in 1942.  After he was done Harold came over to me and handed me the photo and material he had.  Said, "Here this is for you."  Then grinned from ear to ear.  Guess I have another scratchbuild project.  And I think I have found the other industry for the sidings at the top of Bare Mountain.....

Ulrich, I am hoping and praying the sale of your house goes through!!!  It would be so good for you and Petra to have the weight taken off your shoulders a bit!  Good luck! Angel

Jeffrey, glad you finally got the antibiotic you need. Hope it works for you.  Every time my ankle hurts or when I have been dealing with Gout, I think of you and all you have endured, and I stop feeling sorry for myself.

Well, I best get moving!

Later!

Extra strong coffee in an oversized  Union Pacific  BIGBOY mug, please.

***Ulrich, I like your plan a lot.Thumbs Up

My wife asked me not to rework any of the terrain I've done, so it seems the heavy green carpet look is fine with her. She wants her layout to represent a (late?) spring time of year. So be it.

My own will have some stark contrast, from a volcanic semi barren zone at one end into fall colors at the other. Can't wait for the day until I can start on it. Going to finish the wife's first though.

Have a good day y'all.

Had to jump in here to keep the place from sliding over onto page 2. Can't have that happening. After tghis mornings bout with the antibiotics I was so tired I had to get some sleep (one of the side effects) before I seriously contemplated doing anything else. Now I'm preparing to work on the car. That should keep me occupied for about an hour.

Irks me to get $2 to run a rut to the 13 dollar table of 4 (Hey, 15%, they tipped well) and barely even bring anything extra to the couple who left $10!!!!

I agree, having worked for Dom!no'2 P!zz@ and a Lounge-n-Lanes (as the mechanic, but still got tips... sometimes when working the desk), I think the tips should NOT be taxed as it is a "gift" and not a requirement!  The "pizza place" paid me minimum wage, plus the tips I got, but I HAD to report at least $20 in tips a night, whether I made it or not...(THAT I thought was criminal, but luckily only had a few times where I made under...)

The servers at the Lounge-n-Lanes were all paid $2.85/hour, when minimum wage was $7.25/hr, and many times their paycheck was $0.00 after the taxes were taken out due to the amount of money they brought in on tips...  THAT is rediculous IMHO...  They run their behinds off for the tips they make.  It astounded me that some of them were making over $300 a night on tips, but when I look at their work ethic...  The bartenders even more!  THAT said, they deserved to make more money than I did (I made 11.25/hr as Assistant Head Mechanic, with 10 years experience in the industry [don't get me started on THAT])  Tip earning people are HIGHLY underpaid...SoapBox I got started there didn't I?!?!?!

Well, today was my last day of trainhandling for this "section" of training...  Monday I report to 30th Street Station in Philly to begin qualifying the rest of the NEC (NorthEast Corridor) from Morris Interlocking to Penn Interlocking (Just outside 30th St Station).  This means we (my classmates and I) are going to qualify the Atlantic City Line in the Spring!  Which is exactly what we wanted!  We really didn't want to have to deal with driving to AC in the summer and fight with all the "vacationers" on the highways... (which the delays from such high volume can sometimes reach the two hour mark... Grr) n  Anyway, please keep us in your prayers as we have yet to learn our fate with the budget cuts??  Thank you!

Jeff- hope the meds have helped with the conditions?  Question: Are the hood scoop's on THAT buick functional?

Todd- HAPPY BIRTH ANNIVERSARY!!!!

Ulrich- Best wishes and prayers that a sale can be made!!!  The Lord will deliver the answer!

Barry- Yes, you CAN go through a bank account, or through a credit card... Oops, I see Ulrich has answered that one already!

Well, I'm going to sit in a booth and "veg" for a while...  Zoe, may I please have a large order of Barry Spicy Fries and a Large RBF?  Thanks!

Sam

May He bless you, guide you, and keep you safe on your journey through life!

The meds are working great. The swelling is down, color looks good and the pain has subsisded somewhat. Yes, the scoops are functional, but only to help keep the engine cool

Like Robby, a quick drop-in to say Hi,but I'll grab a warm milk and a chocolate chip cookie to go, thanks, Chloe. Bed calls! - it's been a good day ‘though. Sorry I can't contribute any left-over Egg Plant parmigiana as we ate all Kris made for last night's dinner! It was, as usual fabulous, as was the ratatouille we had this evening. She generally does that one-two combo of dishes when there is a decently sized egg plant to be had! (It helps use up the can of sliced black olives too.) Dinner

Jeff: My respect for you just keeps growing. Knowing you resist the temptation to miss-use that 911 Responder set of lights WOW! Bow Big Smile

The lights belong to me, not the fire dept. The lights are all 90 watt strobes and can be seen miles away. As far as the rules governing their use, I helped write that part of the depts rules covering the use of lights. The only time I use them for anything other than fire calls is if I'm escorting something like a vehicle being moved via trailer or helping the police in a road emergency such as detouring traffic away from a road. My presence (authorized by 911) allows the officer(s) there to cover other calls. Only the amber lights get used for escort service. I have the lights set up so I can turn them on and off in banks. Front reds only, rear reds only, front and rear reds together, amber only, flashers only or everything at once. I wired it all myself so I know exactly what it can do.

I did the work on the car today. It didn't take me as long as I thought it would. The epoxy is very to mix. Just knead it between your fingers. I mixed what I needed and rolled it into a thin strip that I pressed down on the EGR valves mating suface so it would act as a new gasket. Putting the valve back in place and tightening it down was a simple process taking about 3 minutes. In all, the entire job took about 20 minutes. I'm going to wait until I have to go to town tomorrow to do the test run so the epoxy has plenty of time to harden. It's the good heat tested stuff for use in high heat applications, not the plastic crap that breaks the first time something hits it. I've used it before to make a combination gasket and fitting on the intake manifold on my car. I made the part back in 2001 and it's still there doing it's job nicely. I've also used it to make gas tank patches and to patch holes in mufflers and exhaust pipes and it even works under water.

I'm got my evening dose of antibiotics hooked up right now and it doing what it usually does. Kicking my butt. It wouldn't be so bad if the one antibiotic was all I had to use, but no, I have to take Cipro and Bactrim by mouth and take the Vancomycin by iv. That takes about two hours. I'd like it better if it wasn't so cold. The stuff gives me the chills and I have to hook it up twice a day. At least I can move around OK with it as I can just put the bottle in my pocket. It's kinda hard to miss as it's about the size of a 1 liter water bottle. I;ve gotta stay on this stuff for at least 4 or 5 weeks. I'll be glad when I don't have to take it anymore.

I did some more on the walls of the Engine House today.  Mostly cutting out window spaces and adding some 2 x 6 studding on the wall.  I may get some more done tomorrow.  I spent all evening updating the membership list for my division of the NMRA.  Have several new members on the list, but lost more than we gained.  I need to contact the new folks to welcome them and let them know when the next event is....

Jeffrey, I keep think of all you have been going through for the past few years and admire your courage and tenacity!  Hope the regimen takes care of the nasty bugs you have once and for all.

Time to wrap everything up for the night I guess.  Hope you all have a good night.  Prayers for all in need!

Good morning all,

Today is the first day of Railfest in Kirtland.  I’ll be one of the several people lined up out front of the college waiting to get in.  I hope you all have a good day…

Good morning ...

Barry was up early and long gone. Looks like Lee is in and out of the diner heading to a train show.

If anybody shows up I'll be in the corner booth. I'll have eggs, country ham, grits and bisquits please.

Todd, I've you stop in, I'm wondering if your grandson is recovering OK now from his injuries.

Good morning all. Happy Saturday morning to ya! Coffee please lovely lady. VINNIE!! What are you doing wearing a dressShock. Never mind. (he does NOT look happy. What did he do? Lose a bet with the girls?)

Ulrich- I'm so glad you're able to at least dabble in trains. Also, I'm praying the buyers are serious and you get to sell the house before...well, let's not bring that back up. You're selling the house.

Garry- Yes, my Grandon is recovering nicely. He is still on the feeder tube due to the cyst in his pancreas pressing the opening from the stomach to the small intenstine closed. And the drain tube up his snoz and into the stomach to drain build up I guess. They said the cyst is shrinking, but they are concerned it will not drain fast enough before it "turns hard"(?). Surgery is still an option.

Yesterday I had a bit of time to start whittlin out my run off. I should go get my piece of wood for the second level, but I haven't been able to wire the track yet to get a good test run on the part the second level will cover. I need the second level to place some structures on so I can get them off my work bench so I can make the trestle so I can get a continuous stretch so I can test the track to see all is fine before I cover with the second level. Whew! What a vicious circle.

Have a Great Day!!!

Hello Ray and Todd ... good to see you

Todd ... It's upsetting to me every time I think about it to think of a little boy going through such an ordeal.. I'm loosing track of the date of the incident, but is is on my mind. I can hardly imagine the emotional drain on your daughter, your wife, and you. Is there a trial date set for the %$#@ who did that?

I'm headed to the limber yard for plywood needed for the layout.

See you later.

  Good morin all~

Well its 7 am here.. and you're not missin much.  Unless you like fog.  Not the steady.. creepy hangin around fog.. this stuff is blowing in like rain.. or a very fine drizzle.  I've seen all kinds of weather this past week, from blowing hot air..  changing winds in a half hour from 3 directions.. and last night .. a chilly wind that felt like a storm blowing in.

Today.. Saturday I shall do the typical weekend things... aside from that.. I have the El Camino to work on.. as well as the layout.  I think the distribution of time.. shall be dependant on the weather.. cold.. sunny.. or whatever comes today.

Der John.. I was wondering if you were still trying to remember.. just what the heck is a 'Bottle Stopper'.. lol.
