refil, please & thanks.

***Lee, my oldest brother is a widower (lost wife to cancer many years ago) and lives on the other coast (CA). We only communicate via e-mail these days. Thank goodness for the Internet.

Here is a pic of the future train room, facing out back. Very little sun will make it in, as seen here:

And here is a pic from inside the train room facing front.

There will be a small undesignated room and very small full-bath in the corner, for those times when "the farm wins" and we need to clean up before entering the main house. Both those areas are separated from the train room by a door. Also going to cut a door between my current workshop and the new train room, making it easier to cut and bring in lumber for the layout. More pics later. Cowboy [C):-)] Rob

Afternoon fellers!

I'll have a bacon cheddar burger with the smokey scallion mayo please! Thanks Chloe!

Yeah, it's a bit cooler here too and supposed to be really nice on the weekend with temps and such!

What are your plans for the weekend?

Monique and I are going to the Louisburg Moose Lodge Saturday Night Dance to cut a rug....

Hi guys. I have a surprise announcement. It sure came as a surprise to me. We are moving to Orlando Florida and should be gone from here by the end of this coming week. If I do not come back on here before then, good bye. You guys are the best.

Rob,

Yes depression is common, but in the future watch him for signs of unexplainable: grumpiness, aggravation over simple things, loss of temper over trivial things, and just plain unpleasant to be around.  I found with my older family members this all means time to go to the heart doctor immediately!  You as a brother and his wife need to watch for these signs.

I will post pictures soon, I need to vac the yard to pick up the loose ballast I glued down last night and move a plethora of tools out of the way so it doesn't look like Home Depot.

Jerry you have been quiet lately other than the tooth everything ok?

Hello Diners!

I decided it's not too hectic to post pictures on WPF.  I'm still runnuing GN trains that have running rights on the Heartland Division. If Sue shows up in the diner i'll get out some NP stuf again. i suppose I could get out some steam locos too. Latest engine is a GN 4-8-2. That's plenty big enough for my layout. I'll let "2-10-4 Fergie' or "Yellowstone tom" enojoy their locomotives.

Happy Model Railroading.

in a SANTA FE mug, please & thanks.

That damage photo (spilled Pepsi) would be even more upsetting if it had been a Coke.Wink [;)]Laugh [(-D]

***Lee, my brother is rather depressed, which is common for folks to experience after heart attacks. BTW, how about some pics of your latest model RR'ing work?

***Dick, that is an excellent suggestion to take pics of wire, plumbing, etc as it goes up. Told my contractor yesterday that I had ordered 12AWG CL2 speaker wire and that I could do the wiring myself working right behind his electrician. I already know where & how to do it, so he said it wouldn't be a problem, which is good. Figured that bedroom (right above the train room) would also make a good movie watching room down the road.

Last night I put a bid on a Intermountain F7 Santa Fe bluebonnet loco, figuring others would outbid me before the end of the auction. You can probably guess what I discovered this morning....yup, I bought it. I barely have enough change in my "train account" to cover it...OOPS! So, are the F7's considered transition era, right?

Good morning all,

Had a bad T-storm last night, high winds, hail, and strong winds.  High today of 72F nice and cool for the next few days.

Rob, 18x20 is a nice size, maybe you could split the room and have HO up front and N in the back? "KATO GS-4 locos with the matching 10 car set" very cool!

TrainsRme1, Yea I have a honey-do list as well but I can't get to it until I clear out the basement storage room, but the storage room is full of MRR stuff for the layout.  So I have to work on the layout to clear out the MRR stuff.  It's a vicious cycle.

I may post some stuff on the Weekend Fun group this weekend.  I installed the diesel fueling area last night and continued ballasting the yard and ice house tracks.  One more night and I hope to have the grass and ballast done.  Yea I got the bug to work on the layout again, mainly due to my operating session next week. I want to avoid the pointing and laughing, LOL.

Evening, Chloe - I'll have a cup of coffee and a glass of water, please. Thank you, ma'am. No, thanks, I'll pass on the shark steaks for now.Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Packers#1, keep in mind that even those small sharks have sharp teeth and can take a nasty bite... Good to hear that you're back, though.

Jeff, sounds like you'll be busy for a while with the DVD's to convert. Good library, from the description of it.Smile [:)] I liked pretty much all of the ST series. Haven't seen the new ST-E ones yet, though.

RT, bear in mind that in my pic only a little of the bonus money was left there. A goodly chunk of the money will go for my old phone bill (from AT&T Banged Head [banghead]), and I have to cover some other bills with the money. Lee had it nailed about right on how much actually gets its way to my hand for MRR stuff... But I'll cover your dinner tonight, if you like (ONLY RT, please). Thanks, folks. Wink [;)]

Good news is, Hobby Lobby's running their 40 percent off one item coupon this week. Yeah!! [yeah] And I'll be printing up several of them to take in with me (let's see, it's Thursday now, then Friday night I can go by again, then Sat. a.m., another time in the afternoon, and again in the evening...).

Hoople, I see you got a new avatar pic since this morning when I peeked in the window. So, is that you on the drums?Wink [;)]

Terry, ya gotta watch out for those Walthers flyers - they'll get you lusting after all kinds of MRR stuff, and there goes your bank balance... I know, from personal experience. Whistling [:-^] Had to join a MRR-Anonymous group. Oops [oops] But they do have some nice stuff in those flyers.

PC, nice shot of the MOW crew - looked like a lot of supervisors for the few actual workers, but that's just like the government.Evil [}:)]Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

TrainsRMe1, you might want to slow down on the caffeine a little bit... Wink [;)](Gee, I wish I had that much energy any more...)

Garry, hope the judge makes the kid have to pay for the whole alarm system. Might keep him busy having to work to earn the money (and maybe learn some better habits). The grandmother sounds like she might be part of the reason that he's as wild as he is. If I were at w**k, the phrase might be "uncritical of own behaviors"...Whistling [:-^] (Oops [oops] Did I say that out loud? Wink [;)]) Hope he gets someone else in charge of him that can give him a better attitude about life, before he gets into even bigger trouble. Oh, that dog your son & DIL got sounds like a good choice - just don't feed him too much! Thumbs Up [tup]

Terry, I'll just Garry's and Lee's comments on your wind damage. And your adjuster's take on things sounds just like an insurance company. Wink [;)]

JR, glad your rent-a-wreck made it up the hill. You guys planning on sleeping in the truck till morning? And good luck on getting things ready for your races. Yeah!! [yeah]

Dick, it sounds like your weather got stuck - you need to whap it on the side so it'll move along up the coast line to DerJohn, Luc and Fergie! Not sure where our Northern brothers are, but I heard some snoring in the back, so Duke might be around...Zzz [zzz]

JP, good luck with the house hunting, financing and all that 'fun' stuff. And Sign - Welcome [#welcome] back to double digit weather territory. Thumbs Up [tup]Bow [bow]

I'll have another cup, please, Chloe. Thanks.  Tonight's my last backup on-call, so the weekend is mine without having to wonder if the phone or pager will go off. [YAY!] And some MRR'ing. Still need to sand down the filling I put on the Roberts building. May put together some more freight car kits and put Kadees on some others.

Good Evening All,

Nothing to do today but wait for the ok to get parked in the paddock so I took the crew for a drive down Highway 1 to Lucie and back. Lots of burnt underbrush around Big Sur and may other spots, but from the road at least it looks pretty good still. Some of thefolks in Big Sur were sweating it out as they had road closures on both sides of them and the fire homing in but they were spared. Looking out over the ocean it is just as gorgeous as ever.

Speaking of getting into the paddock, the Penske rent a wreck did make it up the 16% incline of the accesss road at Laguna Seca so that worry was handled. It's late enough now that we likely won't get in until morning so off to dinner.

JP - good to have you home safe and sound. good luck with your to do list.   Catch y'all later.  J.R.

Good evening, another wild day here in central New England, tornado warnings, the weather crew is checking one in Amhearst new UMASS. Hail, heavy downpours, this weather pattern just won't change. Upper level LOWS form over the Great Lakes, move east then swing up into Canada near Nova Scotia or Quebec, and just sit there pumping cool air down over the whole northeast. This causes all kinds of instability in the atmosphere and some violent storms. This is a WINTER pattern, not Summer!!! In 69 years, I have never seen a Summer like this......has to make me wonder what Winter will be like.

CN CHARLIE: Very sorry to hear about the passing of your FIL, please give your wife and her family our deepest thoughts and prayers for her comfort. You have lost a very good friend, and that is never replaced. We are here for you buddy.

TERRY: WOW, that was violent wind, but thank God everyone is OK

ROB: Looks like you will make it in for Thanksgiving, and as Ryan said, send update photos. It is also a good idea to take pictures of the open studded walls after the rough wiring and plumbing is installed for future reference. This has helped me on several occasions after the walls are closed in.

I picked up some foam ( 2'x8' ) for mountains and hills, luckily here in the north it is quite readily available although it is getting more expensive like everything else these days.

Where is Jeff, Luc, Fergie, John and Duke today???

Later

in a SOUTHERN DAYLIGHT mug, please & thank you!

I did it! Ordered me up one of them KATO GS-4 locos with the matching 10 car set. Will pick it up the next time I'm in that town, probably next week.

Other good news, we found our black & white porcelain tile today. The white tiles are actually grade 2, but they looked fine to me. The price was real cheap them and the black tiles were quite reasonable as well. Looks like we'll have our checker board style Diner floor afterall.

When wife and I walked into the (now framed) train room, she said "wow, this will be a big train room". It's 18' x 20', which is about right for our two layouts I think. As long as mine is along the walls, there should be ample room for her free-standing table layout. Will take photos tomorrow if it's not raining.

Had 1" size hail not far from here today. Glad we didn't see any.

Hope everyone is having a good day. Cowboy [C):-)] Rob

20 feet of road bed to ballast?  When you get done stop over, I have 3 mainlines 64 feet long.  The yard has 13 tracks each about 8 feet long.

ROB, I'm sorry to hear about your brother, how is he doing?

Good news on the check for the house and the progress the builders are making.  When I was in construction we would have the rough frame up and the partition walls done in the first 5 days.

JP take it easy, I know it took me a couple weeks to get adjusted to the severe cold of northern Ohio (it was only 96F outside when I got back, down right freezing when you use to 135F)

Hey gang!

Just a quick stop in today. I'm still working on gettting me back to 'normal' after the long flights and the deployment. Thanks for the party. I really enjoyed it!

I had figured that during the last week, the CS was going to get moved down the tracks again as we were nearing the 200 page count. That seems to be the magic # before Bergie comes and and asks us to move to some new digs! Big Smile [:D]

I'll be in and out over the next few weeks as I'm on vaca till the day after Labor Day. I have to also do some house hunting and work with realtor and the mortgage company for the financing.

Take care and if I don't make it back in till next week, enjoy the weekend!

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010

I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017

in a SANTA FE mug, please & thank you!

So, is there "shark" being served in the Diner now? Never tried it.

Framers have been pounding away all morning. It's already tarting to look like something.

Severe thunderstorm warning out for our area now.

Had the tractor picked up today for a bunch of maintenance & one seal to be replaced. I did the other side last year when I replaced some busted up gears. Just don't feel like messing with it right now.

My eldest brother had another heart attack. Stent #3 now. I told wife I would see the Doc next week, just so she'll leave me alone.

Final house check came today. Nothing else to report on.
