***Der, mine is also N scale. (I have N, the wife has HO) I won't actually start that project until the train room is done and I have build some shelves and moved everything in. Sure have seen lots of great ideas here. I might fall into the "lazy camp" as well, we shall see when the time comes. I'm not known for having an excess of patience.

Hi Gang: Just a quick one and I need to get to working on the shed again. I looked at the temp out front yesterday and it was 108f in the shade. That's the last time I do that. Not mush else going on.

JimCG: I pulled the pump out the other day and will collect the hose and pipe today if the heat doesn't get real bad. I don't know how much good it all did but maybe it helped a bit.

Well I'd better get going and get something done.

Quick drop by before a roast pork lunch with the 07 Blackberry wine (this year should be a good blackberry year too).  Rob, you asked about the Atlas TT.  There are two approaches tha tI know of.  First and more complicated, is to bury the thing, using the table as a motorized, indexed and polarity sortedout base for a pit sitting n top of the Atlas. The second, the route I took because of laziness, and lack of space below the site for burial, is to add details to the flat acre of snow-shed boards.  My model is N Scale.  In HO you've fewer tracks, and may have to add some dummy leads off.  I includeda bride, an operator's house, and some repair work to get the eye away from those dull boards..  Here's more detail o thte repairs.  I avoided the working figures, mainly because I didn't have any!

Our dogs' names are Diana (corgie), maria (my dog), Bullseye (the huge one), and penny (the min-pin). main reason we have Penny is that back in Januarary or Feburuary, my sister's Jack Russel-chiwawa died of an allergic reaction to a tick bite. You shoulda heard her screaming the morning after. Then when we got bullseye for my little bro and other little sister (I'm the oldest), they saw peny, and so when she was old enough, we took her home.

We've got 4 dogs already, I don't think my dad wants any more. Thankfully we've got a big backyard. Our dogs:

a corgie (or however you spell that)

a wire-haired terrier that may have beagle or coccer spaniel in her (my dog)

a lab, hound, and/either birdhound or dalmation (he's gonna be a big dog)

a tiny little min-pin, chiuwawa, and might have pug.

Good morning.

It's 78 and mostly cloudy here. The high should be in the low 90's and there's a chance of thunderstorms later.

I kept myself busy yesterday reorganizing my DVD collection. Maybe today I'll get around to cleaning off the parts of the layout that I haven't been working on and seeing if there's still scenery under there.

Today's Weather for:
Sundown, LA  71446-6114      8/10/2008

So Far Today
High:  80°F
Low:  77°F

Today  High: 95    Partly cloudy. A 20 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms in the afternoon. Highs in the mid 90s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph.

Tonight  Low: 75    Partly cloudy until late night then becoming mostly cloudy. A 30 percent chance of showers and thunderstorms. Lows in the mid 70s. Southwest winds 10 to 15 mph.

Good morning all.

Thunderstorms and more rain for us on the North Coast with 68F for a high.  I have 3 vessel exam appointments for this afternoon.

Garry, I have 9 more hoppers sitting on the table here waiting for new couplers.  The yard ballasting was my big project this week along with installing the ground throws for the yard.  I didn't want a "clean" yard so I added some bushes, grass, and some brown taconite ballast to the tracks.

I've been going to the train shows and garage sales picking up targeted items for the past 6 years or so and I don't keep track of what I bought.  1st year I was buying turnouts for $1-$2 each. 2nd year I bought building kits, 3rd year I bought those hoppers for $1-$2 each.

Morgan, thanks.  I know Dale has a ton of videos at his house, but none have any detail to them.

TrainsRme1, Nope no Hobby Lobby on the west coast, sorry.

Thanks Terry.  I see one of the ore cars I bought (used) has 2 different types of trucks under it.  Looks like it's going up hill.

I still have some touch ups to do in the yard and I have to figure in a cab track and a MOW track on the west end of the yard.  I also have to clean the house before company gets here on the 14th.

Dad doesn't really like trains. Being one of three (in the middle, of course) I can't go anywhere by myself. Well it'll be over in... 18 hours? Yeah, thats right I think.

Well, NKP 1 is a buisness car not common carrier, but it's just pullman green. I doubt I can get any inside shots, I'm not trusted in that car by most of the people who own it. (New guy+teenage rep=Cold stares of death and unfair treatments). Let me see what I can do Monday. my next session. Tell your friend to hunt down the Video of Pere Marquette 1225 on her first march to Steamfest. NKP 1 is in the consist. There's also a Trains and Locomotives of NKP stock footage, abouyt 30 minutes, that I believe includes some Passenger in it as well.

Interior is a milk white color. There's a mohogany colored rectangle over the open section in back.

Rob  Here is one article on making a pit turntable from the Atlas and I have another here that I will have to dig out and scan.  It deals with the 35mm film canister JimCG was talking about.  I tried it and would try something else over the canister but the idea is a good one.

***Paul & Lee, all our roofs here on the ol' farm have been metal. The house structures (and one small shed out back) have been brown, while the barns and other out-buildings have silver. They are easy to install and can handle medium falling branches & large hail without a problem. Only negative I can think of is the colors fade over the years and they are louder during rain storms, unless you use spray foam insulation in the attic (which I highly recommend).

***Jim, good haul there. Looks like it will be a tight fit transporting all those fellas & stuff in just one pickup. Perhaps you need to pick up an extra truck. And then, when you have more space in those two trucks than you need, you can pick up yet more workers. And then when...Wink [;)]

Off to do evening critter rounds. Had to bring in our little bull & cows, as he was teasing the neighbors HUGE bull on the other side of our old flimsy fence.Shock [:O] Bad idea!

Morgan, I actually snagged my pics of the fair train on Thursday afternoon.  They had to sit a few extra minutes while they changed a brake shoe at the Fishers station.  If I see someone else snapping pics when I'm up there again I'll have to see if they answer to "Morgan"!
