Good Morning All,
Ah Saturday in the shop - Moby Grape on the CD and no one to bug me. CFO is off to Plattsburg with the rest of#2 sons furniture and the rest of the smedleys are off today.
Jeff - now that you've answered the question no-one asked about decoders, have fun. Did you know you could have used two decoders..... just kidding, just kidding.. How do you test the pairs to find two close in speed? Now if they come up with a sound decoder for the DL-109 you can use one sound decoder for two locos as well?
We had an 84 Land Cruiser land in the yard yesterday that I might get for a backup winter car. Refreshing - no A/C, auto door locks/power windows/shift to four wheel drive on the fly or automatic/paddle shift. Single carb, 4 speed 4wd - does have a radio though (need to check it for tubes,no?) Well off to the world of race cars. I'll try to stop by at lunch time. J.R.
Top of the page and all! Warm up the credit card ladies and serve the boys what they want (girls too if Sue shows up). I'll have a regular and a short stack of blueberry pancakes with link sausage on the side.
Morning all!
The morning should be quiet, but as the cold front approaches the state, scattered thunderstorms will develop. Highs will be in the mid to upper 80's.
Hi 87 FLo 71 F
Around here we're just getting ready to head out for a week and a half on the houseboat. We'll tool around Dale Hollow til we find a spot to tie up, then it's nothing but relaxing, jet ski's, and fishing for a good long while. On that note, you won't see me around here after tonight most likely as there's no real internet access down there on the lake. I'll stop in later today though and say hi!
For now, I'm outta here!
Good Morning!
I'll have a stack of Blueberry pancakes as well since GMTRacing is buying!
Going to the train show soon! Hopefully I'll find some goodys!
Ya'll take care.

GOOD NEWS!!!!!! Mom called late yesterday and gave us the update on my dad, the latest blood work tests show his enzyme markers for the pancreatic cancer screening are only double the normal reading and that is down from the 10X reading he had a few weeks ago, so that is great news. My dad is now scheduled to meet with the Gastroenterologist on Friday next week to schedule the gall bladder surgery for sometime after the Labor Day holiday. While they are in there for that surgery they will take a biopsy of the pancreas to test again for cancer.
A big thank you for all your support, prayers, thoughts and love! We really appreciate it, just goes to show you that prayer is an amazing thing! Please continue to keep him in your thoughts and prayers.
BAD NEWS!!!! Ben has had a fever of 100 + for the past few days, took him to the doc this morning and he has strep throat! Now on antibiotics and bed rest for the weekend! Oh well, have to skip baseball practice this afternoon.

Yes. The home nurse was just around to change her bandages and put her through the paces of her physical therapy. She's doing much better than the last time.
Great news Jeff!

I was in a vulnerable state then , besides Chloe has a few more places where she hides the really "good" stuff....

jeffery-wimberly,
Did you say, 6 acres???(whew) I'm NEVER goin' to ever complain about doin' my lawn, it's just a 1/2 an acre!
Hello all,
Sounds like PC will have a sweet day on the house boat.
Ryan, we will keep him in our prayers glad things are doing better.
Well my life is now complete, I just won 6,000 HO-Scale railroad ties. I didn't really need that many but I guess I'll figure something out. Just finished a Accurail Pere Marquette 40' box car kit, very easy to assemble and it was only $8. Maybe tonight I can work on installing some back drops on the layout.

Afternoon, Janie - since JR's buying, I'll have some cheesey fries with my root beer float, - and a chili dog, too! Thanks, JR.
Ryan - great news on your Dad - and may the results be just as good when they do the gall bladder surgery (and checking for the biopsy).
Jerry, sent you a PM (check it out and get back to me). I was thinking it's a shame that City Classics doesn't make N scale stuff, as their West End Market (which was in the order I got today) is pretty neat and would look good on your layout. It looks like one of those Art Deco 'supermarkets' that sprouted up a lot of places when self-service groceries first got going (back before I was very big at all....). I got the West End Market kit for possibly converting into a small bus station (which I saw pics of someone doing a ways back, and it looked really nice). (Actually, a ways back there was a Bachmann bus station that looked a bit like the City Classics one) But I've also seen pics of someone who did the kit as a supermarket and put an interior and shoppers, shelves, register and all in it, plus lighting - that looked sharp, too! Which to do, which to do?
Terry, that's a bit of a vet's bill - let's see, about $600 per dog? Bet you volunteers get a lot of love from those cockers, though.
Jeff, good news on your Mom (and that you have the mowing done for the day/weekend).
Actually, it looks like this could be a good weekend for several Diners. Jeff's got his mowing done and is ready to kick back, Ryan doesn't have to go to a ball game, TrainsRMe1 is getting ready to go to the beach and (Congratulations on your 100th post!), Packers#1 is listening to the tunes on YouTube, PC and family are off to the houseboat, JR has his place pretty much to himself, JP's off to the fair with the lady from downstairs, and Duke's way ahead of us already in the department... I almost feel ashamed at getting some 'work' done this morning...
This morning (and a little of the afternoon) was our MRR club's workday, and I put down the other half of one town's roadbed for the sidings, passing track and mainline (bottom layer) as far as we had the mainline designed and drawn. The others were working (about 3-4 of them and another 'supervising') on the supports and masonite for the backdrop, and got almost all of it (except for the two areas where I was gluing and pinning down the cork roadbed) installed. I had the laundromat do my laundry while I was at workday (ouch - cost me about double what it would've been if I'd done it myself! Oh well...). After picking up laundry, I also went by Hobby Lobby and picked up the W-S Tombstones set (with their 40 percent off coupon). I'll go back when the 40 percent coupon is back, and pick up some other figures or that Classic Metal Works black 1979 Ford Fairlane (with liftable hood and engine). Love those coupons!
Jeff, is that rain you're getting the edges of Faye, or from the southward-moving front that we had through here the past couple of days? I haven't checked the radars yet today, so it could be either one, I suppose. Maybe our front is working its way east (but it was moving North to South when it moved through here yesterday...). Your b-i-l has backups for his backup cars, huh?
JR, that Land Cruiser sounds like a possibility for a winter car, all right! Did I read that correctly, that it has power door locks, shift to 4-wheel on the fly and all (except for A/C)?
Well, all this talk about kickin' back and takin' it easy has me.... Ummmff? Oh yeah,
Blessings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Howdy ....
Today was my first day back in the layout room. I posted my first run in WPF.
Sounds like Ryan's Dad and Jeff's Mom are recovering. Hope that continues for them.
Happy Model Railroading.

EVERYWHERE LOST; WE HUSTLE OUR CABOOSE FOR YOU
Whoa, been gone over a week and it's like I missed EVERYTHING!!
Garry--glad you're back home, hope everything is okay. As to your 'bikers', I will be happy to send out Guido and Thumbs Louie to take care of it. Normally they charge, but they work for free for me and my friends. Watch out for Guido, though, he tends to rip off front porches with his teeth.
Jeff--good to hear about your mom. Hope she continues to improve.
Mark-- a couple of days late. Hope it was a good one!
Ryan--Glad you're better, and if it helps, when I was raising Tommy, Strep was a yearly occasion. Every late September, he'd just look at me with his big baby browns and say, "Dad--" and I knew HERE WE GO AGAIN! One of the joys of fatherhood, sometimes you get to re-live all of YOUR childhood diseases.
Well, the news from SunnyCal is this: I had my 93 year old mother down last week and she was NOT happy to be here, she said that I could just as well come up to Nevada City and take care of here there, I explained that I was also taking care of a very sick buddy of mine--Lowell--and she muttered that I should have him 'put to sleep' anyway--it was NOT a pleasant time. However, Lowell is doing quite well, thank you, eating 3 jars of baby food per day plus a can of cat tuna and two shots of Nutrical, aside from his daily injections.
Anyhow, she left last night about 5:00 or so--my sister picked her up--and two hours later, I took a seven-stitcher right through my glass coffee-table. I was coming into the living room from the kitchen with a banana, tripped over a locomotive box that I had been showing my sister's new boyfriend, tried to aim for the couch, and my leg crashed right into the glass. Tempered, thank God. But it shattered, ripped my knee apart, I ended up in emergency getting stitches on my kneecap, and the side of the knee. The Dr. said it missed a major artery by about two nicks. So right now I'm immobile, sorta, knee stitched and wrapped up--the last time I saw THAT much gauze was in an old "Mummy" horror flick--and every now and then I leak.
And school starts next Thursday. How much fun is THAT?
What really burns my butt is that the box was only on the floor because earlier I was showing my sister's boyfriend--who miraculously likes trains--a BLI steamer that I was thinking of getting rid of on E-Bay. The *** red box is still in the living room, the coffee table is History (and I REALLY liked that coffee table!) and as soon as I can walk, I'm heading down and getting a new top for it. I can't believe what a big EMPTY space I've got in the living room, right now. And to top it off, I missed the men's Diving finals on the Olympics.
Anyone want a BLI UP Mountain? Right now, I'll GIVE the damned thing away, LOL! Dried blood on the box and all.
After this, things can only look up.
Best to all, prayers to those in need.
Tom

***Tom, and I thought my day wasn't going well. Yikes, poor poor poor locomotive. Very sad. Oh yea, and too bad about your knee as well. (sorry, couldn't resist)
All the rain is still way south of here. Dang, we sure could use it right now. Front pasture still has a good size puddle for the horses, so haven't had to start pumping water out to them just yet.
Night all. Rob

Chloe, Zoe, get ready.....here they come!
As the 1st customer in after PC, Chloe, let me have a nice big hot fudge sundae w/ all the trimmings! I'll be in the corner booth waiting for it.
Well gang, the day was jam packed with laughter as the 'lady friend' myself, and one of her g/f's whad a blast at the fair. Most of it came from the 'ladyfriend' and I flirting back and forth. Who knows, maybe my next g/f lives below me??????
Anyways, off to bed. Tomorrow's packed with laundry and apartment cleaning.
Take care!

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010
I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017
Evening Gang: We had a tad of excitment tonight. Daisy the dog ( weirner type ) started to act strange. She had her back humped up and was walking around and then leaned up against the couch. We tried to see what was wrong but couldn't figure anything out. I took off her harness and she still wasn't right. She wouldn't come over to me but snuggled up to Mary Ann. After awhile I took her out and she did her business a couple of times and seemed to be fine. When we got back inside I asked her if she wanted to go to bed and she just got back with Mary Ann. When I asked again she took off for the stairs and seemed like herself bouncing around and heading for the bed room. She is tucked in now and seems fine.
It's good to hear that everyone is doing better. Garry you take it easy. Getting to the layout is good therapy but don't over do it. as always for evryone.
I got the flat car frame welded up today. It was still hot and humid out in the shop. I have to grind the welds and then put together the couplers and install them. I have to deciede on the color. Black or boxcar red. The four cars are all going to be Kos Lake and South Clear Fork RR cars so one color for all. Hummm Maybe I should make two of them for another road just to give some verity to my consists. Any suggestions?
Bed time.
Good Night All

Thanks, Tom..... You probably also noticed the kindness in everone's remarks to me. Model railroaders tend to be the best people anywhere. See Paul's remark as example. Thanks Paul!
I've doing a lot of deep thinking after the doctors said they are 100% certain I would have died without the Medtronic device (defibralator/ pace maker) implanted in my chest to restart my heart.
