RATS *&^!!!!!!!!!!! Sure, I hit post, and it returns a blank message box and no posting of the post! GGGGRRRRRRRRRR!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Anyways, Good morning gang, again!
I am thinking that shortly after I move in, I may have the kitchen remodeled. Reasons being, there's no dishwasher, alot of unused wall space, few cabinets, and I'd like the appliances to match. Depending on $$$$$ , I'm trying for Stainless Steel appliances. One positive to the kitchen is that it's equiped w/ a gas stove, which as a cook, I love! Plus, I could use a pantry in it someplace, and there currently is none. So, I think part of today will be spent at Lowe's and Home Depot pricing cabinets and appliances.
As for the MR front, I got the Athearn New Release email yesterday, and have to go to the LHS and see Bill (the owner) and place my order. So far, it consists of a Conrail SD50, the WSOR/MR75th Anniversary Car, and a 3rd item. Thankfully they won't be delivered till February, so I have time to save up for this purchase.
Well gang, time for me to get going and do some exercise.
Take care!

Hunter - When we met in January of 2000, you were just a 6 week old pup who walked his way into this heart of mine as the only runt in the litter who would come over to me. And today, I sit here and tell you I am sorry we had to put you down. It was the best thing for you and also the right thing to do. May you now rest in peace and comfort. Love, Dad. 8 June 2010
I love you and miss you Mom. Say hi to everyone up there for me. Rest in peace and comfort. Love, John. 29 March 2017
So I see Mark is wishing himself a Happy Birthday huh? Must be he's trying to tell us that today is his birthday. Chloe - Is it too late to request a birthday cake be made this morning for Mark? No???? Cool! Let us know what the tab for it will be and I'm sure the gang will be more than willing to chip in some extra $$$$ for it! Happy Birthday Mark!
Good morning all,
Garry, my Grandmother had a similar incident over a rent to own property I wish you luck in dealing with yours.
Jeff, I would like to see how you wire those units up, I've been wondering if what you described was possible with 2 steam locomotives I plan on teaming up with a draw bar. It doesn't look like I'll be able to make the switch to DCC until tax time.
Packers#1 Congratulations! What position?
Jim, Historically metals were banned from use in the model train industry during WWII and companies did what they could to keep their foot in the MR market. Lionel sold paper trains, I wonder if his wood locomotive was a true "war relief" if so that would defiantly put it in the rare - vintage - historical category. I'm not old enough either J
Speaking of rare-vintage; the gal responded to my email last night. Her vision of a $79 starting bid on that MKT AHM plastic box car was "in stores they cost $35 and this item is an antique collector's item in the original box, you are obviously not a collector".
Rob, back when I worked construction we didn't tape the bottom of the window, but we did lay a piece of felt paper down (in the window jam) and then installed the window. We built high energy savings homes, the last house I worked on the local university brought in a fan door this blew out all the air in the house and an inspector walked around with a smoke stick (dry ice wand) looking for drafts; the picture window in the living room cracked inwards after running the fan for 2 hours. The house was so air tight we had to install a Vent in the basement hooked to the furnace intake to supply fresh air to the house.

Hello everybody....
Happy Birthday to Mark....... I bet Mark wants cake and not pie if I rember correctly. Waht kind of cake, Mark?
Nobody followed through on threats to burn our place down last night. Neighbors accross our small bay have a clear view and are watching for suspicious activity. All outside lights were on last night.
Again, I'm really thankful to all of you for your thoughts and prayers regarding my hospitalization for abnormal heart rhythm and heart failure that was nearly fatal last week. You kindness means a lot to me. I'm certainly thankful for God's mercy, and I'm thinking a lot about stuff now. I can still only be up for about 1 1/2 hours before I need rest. The layout remains idle.
Happy Model Railroading.

Well, Ben had baseball practice last night and while on 2nd base he missed a grounder that hopped up and hit em just above the lip and on the left side of his nose. He's got a big scar there now and cut the inside of his lip. He said he got knocked out and blacked out for a few seconds there, another sports injury!
Thanks Terry for the compliment on the details and such! I really like the Mt. Hope Station, great thread too!
Jeff nice to hear you mom is resting now!
Garry that really sounds like the last thing you need to be dealing with right now! Some people huh! And I like Rob's offer, take em up on it! Hehehehe...
Congratulations Packers#1, what position(s) will you play?
Jim thanks! You are right about the weathering, both are still a work in progress, touch ups still needed on both too! BTW, good luck and work tomorrow!
JP Congratulations are in order for the new house! I can see the wheels a turnin on how you going to fill up that basement or garage!
Rob has work on the new construction going up like gang busters....
Paul you must be getting a good suntan with all that outdoor work on the fences!

Thanks all for the birthday wishes!
I brought my own cake. And pie. For PC, you know.
French vanilla ice cream cake is good. Which Is why I brought one.
Enjoy!
Afternoon, Zoe - I'll have a BLT and an RBF, please. Thanks, OzarkBelt! (Got drawn in by the cake, and wound up with the TOTP, he did.) And a to Mark. That cake looks yummy! To be sure we had enough cake, Zoe said the cook made a second one to tide us over:
Garry, good to hear you had a quiet night. I see others... (to borrow a phrase from Vinnie's 'playbook') have offered their "services" to help with Bubba. Take your time, and rest up as needed till you build your strength up enough. For now, an hour and a half could be enough to finish off a few articles in your MR issue, right?
Birthday 'boy' Mark - any plans for your birthday? Trip to the LHS, say...?
PMeyer, to the Diner. You'll have to ask one of our virtual servers (Zoe or Chloe, the twins, usually) where the 'adult' stuff like that is hidden. They keep it out of the way of our younger patrons. (oh, I see Ryan spilled the beans...) So, tell us about yourself and your layout (or plans for same) - any particular RR you follow, time period modelled, how far along on building yours, etc. Stop by whenever you can, the place pretty much never closes, except on the rare occasion when they ask us to move it down the tracks a bit.

If I didn't mention it, I went ahead and bought that LL passenger circus car for the wife. That is the LAST purchase for awhile now.
Yah, right... And how many of us have said that to ourselves or others? Rob, hope you keep your builders on track for a great (and well-insulated) house. Keep 'em on their toes. How're your critters doing?
Lee, your comment from the gal on the auction item is a lot like one I got from a guy who I'd written and asked what his reasons were for a minimum bid of $80 on a resin kit vs. a comparable Walthers one: "Buy the Walthers kit." (end of email quote...) I guess the old saying fits on the 'Bay too: "A sucker (or collector) and his money are soon parted." She's just proud of that l'il thing!
Ryan, my idea is, if it isn't a brand new auto and it's on my layout, it needs weathering! (and even some new autos need weathering) You have to be more careful about tipping your hand in front of Chloe - she thought you didn't know where the stash was kept.
Paul, hope your garden continues to be fruitful...
Rainy here today - Mark and Sue would feel right at home in Missouri today. Grey morning, couple of downpours and general soaking rain most of the rest of the morning, and just now starting to clear up some (but not there yet).
I'll squeeze in the window booth for now - want to be out of PC's path to the pie on the counter there. Prayers for continued healing for Jeff's Mom, Garry, and everyone else in need of them.
Blessings,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Ooops! Looks like I got top honors! Eat up!
Here's some pics I've gotten while railfaning a couple of days ago. I fixed them up with a B&W filter.:
I'll have a root beer float please!
Enjoy! I'll be in the corner booth, watching trains and designing a Conrail layout. I'll welcome anyones company/ help!
I'll have the stuffed peppers.
jeffrey-wimberly wrote: I'll have the stuffed peppers.
Yum!, I'll think I'll have that too!
Good Evening All,
Just rushing through on my way from here to there and thought a root beer float would be good. But it's Marks' birthday and BONUS we have cake. I'll have a slice of the birthday boys cake and Mark - Happpy Birthday! Could be a tough day - wish for drum kit stuff, wish for train stuff - hmmm. maybe some of both to compromise, eh?
warm and dry here unlike Dick just north of us. Still scrambling to get cars done for the next few weekends so I'd better finish wolfing down the cake grab the RBF and vamoose. J.R.
Thanks everyone. I'm not sure what position yet, but probably either line or line backer. We got our pads yesterday, and today, during the whole practice, it was raining, lol. I'm did so-so considering today's the first time I ever played in pad. And yeah, hopefully the Packers down the road. Between now and then, there's the Aiken High Hornets (what I'll be next year) and hopefully the Clemson Tigers (where I want to go to college, get a degree in civil engineering, and go work for a commuter line if I don't make the NFL or other pro sport).
HAPPY BIRTHDAY MARK!!!!

PSSST, Ryan? I ummm went to my LHS and blew my stash can you spot the tip???,Naw just jivin' Enjoy!!!
*gasp* The diner is about to fall away into the black abyss of page 2... again!
No need to worry, i saved it. (It helps to wear cool armour!)
Well, I'm gonna turn in, Good Night All! Got a train show to go to tommorrow! Looking forward to that!
G'night!
***Mark, HAPPY BIRTHDAY and may it be a great one!
***Lee, I discovered they used tar paper on the bottom 1' or so when they ran out of house wrap. I dug out some TyVek & instructed our builder to finish the areas yet to be wrapped in that instead. I also picked up another roll of the heavy black window tape which I will personally take care of before the end of the weekend. I'm doing sides and top of windows only with it. I'm also taping their cheaper quality house wrap where it overlaps. My studio is as "tight as a tick", and we have debated installing a fresh air duct as you described. But, we're still alive so I guess we're getting enough oxigen.
***Jim, OK, you were right. See what I did today after swearing I wouldn't:
Yea, wife likes it. As for the critters, Ms Be Downtown remains in a stall with a bad hoof crack and will be for some time. What's more worrisome is our creek is all but dried up again. I will need to check every day now to make sure the front pasture horses still have a puddle to drink from, which is all that is left. Will be preparing to move them into the middle pasture where I can pump some of the caught rain water from those storage tanks to them. YIKES, pray for rain!
Got some more posts set for the front porch. Ran to Home Depot for some odds & ends. Long day, very tired. Night all. Rob
Evening Gang: Geeessse it was humid today. I felt like I'd been a shower after working in the shop for a couple of hours. I'm working on the first of the four 1 1/2 inch scale flat cars I got. They were built with a piece of 1in by 2in tubing for the center sill and that just isn't enough. I'm adding a fish belly of 2in by 2in tubing to give it some more strenght. The first car had a bout a 1/16 in dip in the middle already.
We went to a funeral this afternoon. Our daughter in laws grandmother passed away. The lady was 89 and had a bunch of medical problems. We never got to meet her but I understand that she was quite a gal.
Mark a very happy birthday to you young man. Now don't pig out on the cake leave me a small piece.
The cattle are happy with the rain. They actually want to go out into the pastures. That will save some hay. It's suprising how fast some rain will turn the grass into something that they want to eat.
Well I'm going to hit the hay. We are going to start moving the kids into there new home tomorrow.
Good Night All
Evenin', Chloe - is there any cake left? Yes, I would like some, just one piece of cake and a cup of decaf. Thanks!
Just a short stop by the Diner before I pack it up for the night. Paul, sounds like you have been one busy guy today on the RIP track. And three more to go, plus move start moving the kids to the new home? Better rest up tomorrow night!
Rob, I'll put a few in for some rain your way - depending on how our rain today goes (east or northerly direction), you might get some rain tomorrow or the next day. If not, Faye may wend her way back to the east after she drenches Alabama, Mississippi and Jeff in Louisiana. Haven't seen what track they think Faye may follow once she gets to the Florida panhandle. On the additional purchase comment I made, I just recalled the times when I'd said something like that (...and then ended up getting 'just one more thing...'
Tomorrow morning is our MRR club workday - and my order through the LHS owner/club member is in, so I need to take a good chunk of along with me for that (plus my club dues that I owe yet for the month). Today at work wasn't bad at all in the afternoon, and my three clients in the morning all showed, and all seemed to be making some progress. One was doing well enough that we terminated therapy for now (the client will still see the psychiatrist for medication). The rest of the day wasn't too eventful, other than I didn't wind up getting lunch (unless you call what I had around 4:20 p.m. 'lunch'...) But it's the weekend now!
I'll finish up my desert and coffee for now and head home. Everybody get a good night's rest, so you can get those MRR projects done this weekend!
Blessings and a good night's rest,

Morning gang!
Look as though if I want the kitchen remodeled, it will have to wait till I have more $$$$. However, I may go and buy a new stove, fridge, washer and dryer, and let the dishwasher wait till I remodel the kitchen.
Ryan - Layout will be in the basement along w/ the washer/dryer, and furnace/hot water tank. Garage is for my truck, snowblower, mower trash and storage.
Well gang, the lady neighbor downstairs wants me to go to the Fair with ehr this morning, so I best be heading for the shower and getting dressed.
Take care and enjoy the day!
