Gav ......... thanks for the info about the passenger train there. I'll say it was a great ride.

Ed .... you like giving us a bad time about "pardise" and playing golf an all that stuff, eh. Seriously, I'm glad you like where you are.

Everyone ....... well I'm still working on scenery. It's time consuming work.

have a nice evening.

Tall cool glass of water tonight, thanks!

Wife said one of the tornado fatalities up here in north GA. was a Vet, along with her dozen or so rescued dogs. Her house was leveled. What a sad loss. Hope they didn't suffer.

Got impatient and took the door (train table in waiting) over to the cabin and gave it a primer coat. That's the only progress to report on the train front here.

Good evening to all,  been real busy with the two bathrooms project, I am now in the final phase thank God......painting is all done, staining all done, poly all done, one toilet installed, one to go, and one mirror to hang back up as well as baseboards and it will be tout fini.

We awoke to another 2" of snow this morning, but most of it melted by noontime, nothing compared to what you guys lived through last night in Georgia!!! I'll take the snow anytime...lightening, high winds, tornados...no thank you.

I see we have another rash of people being killed on the RR tracks. I just can't understand the type that are accidents......the ones that are suicide are at least intentional bad choices, but a train coming at 30 mph, sounding the horns, and the workers don't get off the tracks in time??? What is wrong with this picture??

FERGIE: If you think that last storm was bad, wait until you get the one that is headed up the coast tomorrow off the mid Atlantic, this will be a rip snorter Shock [:O] headed for Newfoundland about Monday afternoon.

SUE: 5.5 Earthquake 100 miles off your coastline a few hours ago, any Tsunamis?? Question [?]The "eggshell" is cracking again, I wonder where the next quake will hit. Usually only within a few days along the rim of fire.

ED: Out of OJ !!! Sad [:(] When are the Valencia due?  Dice-K's wife had her baby, a boy, rumor has it they will name him Special K....... lol. Wink [;)]

A point of warning to all you guys who have BRASS equipment. With the price of metals going through the roof, there has been an increase in home theft of gold jewelry ( Gold is over $1000 an ounce  Shock [:O] and will probably hot $1250 by the end of 2008 ) and any metals ( like brass ) that are of high value. Some people have had the copper plumbing ripped out of their homes. So if you have not taken videos or photos of your equipment for insurance or possible reclaim purposes, better do so soon.

Time to hit the sack, have a blessed Sunday guys,

Dick If you do what you always did, you'll get what you always got!! Learn from the mistakes of others, trust me........you can't live long enough to make all the mistakes yourself, I tried !! Good morning all,

I forgot to mention I bought three (36" radius) Right turnouts.  I paid $25 for all 3.

I spent an hour out in the shop last night cutting enough wood to length to build four 36x48 tables for the layout.

Hoople, used locomotives at the train show are still a little expensive for my budget.  The Big Boys were running about $105 and the 4-6-6-4's were running about $87.

***Lee, sounds like a great deal on those switches.

May need to use my train funds to buy more hay again...ugh!

Morning all!

Hey Rob, scoot over and let me get a cup of that.    So, you breaking out the black paint today?  That door will be looking sharp all dressed in black!  It'll need a black skirt around it too.  You can staple a velcro strip around it to hold it on, or I saw one guy who used those little coffee cup hooks and put little metal gromits in the skirt.  Either would look great.  Oh, and fixed DC is for things like powering switch machines and stuff that you want constant power (DC of course) going to (like the old Atlas type of switches that use the momentary pulse button that you do manually).  BTW, I'm with you.......I hope they didn't suffer.

Afternoon Gang: I'll just cuple up my live steamer and move the diner back to page one.

I'm just taking a break from chores. I spread the gravel out in front of Mary Ann's containers and then split all the fire wood that was up here at the house. Yea I know that it's late for this winter but we'll be ready for next year.

Good Afternoon All,

Left 80F Florida and landed at White Plains to 36F. At least I brought my jacket on the plane. Spectated yesterday at the Sebring 12 hours - saw a lot of people I've worked with over the years some of whom remember me. Seems like half the folks at Highcroft Racing are people I've employed or worked with over the years. The race turned out to be interesting as the favorites hit unforseen trouble and dropped back giving others an oppourtunity they hadn't anticipated. Ended up with Roger Penskes' operation winning overall beating all the cars from the next class up as well as their peers. The win also filled in another page of the Penske scrapbook as he'd never has a winning team there before.

Found a T-shirt with pics of all the winners including the Akin 962 I worked with but even neater I found a toy dealer with 1/87 Shuco model cars. The cars run from the fifties to the present and are nearly all imported cars. I wanted some more stuff for the import garage on the layout.  picked up a VW transporter carrying a racing beetle from the early 60's as well as a Volvo 544 Amazon panel truck. Nice detail, wonderful paint and not too expensive. I'll try to post pics later.

Glad you all weathered the storms through Ga ok. Hope nothing comes of the offshore tremors either. Looking out the window on the flight up, the whole eastern seaboard was covered in heavy clouds. I'll get some chores done here and then I hope some MRR time. Catch y'all later, J.R.

 refill, please & thanks!

***Paul, splitting wood is always enjoyable. If nothing else it makes for good stress relief.

***JR, sounds like an enjoyable time. Look forward to pics of those cars.

Brought the door (train table) back over to the dungeon. Might get the legs on later tongiht, but it is going to sit for awhile. I'm listing a few more things on the bay. Not for my train fund, but to pay for hay. OUCH, just don't have anything coming in right now and my wife can't put in any more hours than she is already. She is exhausted.

Have a nice evening all. Cowboy [C):-)] Rob

Evening Gang:

Rob I don't know how much stress I relieved. I have a hydrolic log spliter on the tractor and it did all the stress relieving. I have spent a good amount of time using a spliting maul and wedges and frankly I'm over that. Also the pecan and live oak is really hard to split sometimes.

Not much since this afternoon. Mary Ann and I went out and had some supper. Neither one of us was real hungry. Now she is in bed and I think that I'll join her as soon as I take Daisy the Dog out for her nightly walk.

Good Night All

Good evening to all....I can see light at the end of the HD jar tunnel!!!! Only two small pieces of wall tile to cut and install at the floor in main bathroom, and the door casing in the Master bathroom to install. Everything else is up and running including the new toilet, although I had to run to Home Depot to get a 12" water feed, as the tank was just 1" taller than the old tank. That was just as well because the new ones are all stainless flex lines which are much better anyways.

GARRY & ROB: Yes, it sure feels great to have this big project behind ( no pun intended ) me !!  Hopefully I can now get down to the train room before all the Spring projects start outside.

Right now I am going to go fix a coconut rum cooler and read the latest Walthers catalog that just arrived in the mail.

Have a great evening everyone,
