Toaster recall - fire and electrocution warning
Please visit http://www.hamiltonbeach.com/recall-info/safety-recall/ for details.
Hamilton Beach Brands is voluntarily recalling about 482,000 toasters worldwide. The toasters can remain "on" (energized) after popping up, and can ignite flammable items covering or in contact with the toaster, posing a fire hazard. ANY CONSUMER WHO HAS A RECALLED TOASTER SHOULD STOP USING IT IMMEDIATELY AND DISPOSE OF IT IN ANY CONVENIENT, SAFE WAY - BUT SHOULD NOT SELL IT OR GIVE IT AWAY. EVERYONE SHOULD DO THEIR PART TO PREVENT FURTHER USE OF A RECALLED PRODUCT! Hamilton Beach has received at least 63 reports of toasters remaining on after popping up. There have been no reports of injuries or fires.

Evening Gang: Well the transmission in the F-250 diesel went out this afternoon. I was bringing back a load of gravel with the dump trailer and it started slipping real bad. I manage to get it to the gate to the pastures and it wouldn't go any further. I dumped 2 quarts of fluid into it and I managed to get to where I wanted to dump and then up to the house. I'll have to check on a transmission tomorrow. I really hate to spend alot of money on it since it has 277,000+ miles on it and it's not a 4X4. I'd rather get another truck with four wheel drive but Mary Ann won't have that.
No MRRing today. Not even on the 7.5in gauge. Maybe tomorrow. Now Mary Ann is sick. She's coughing and has a runny nose. Of course she wouldn't see the doctor. If she is still feeling bad Monday I'll drag her in to see the doctor.
I'm going to hit the sack.
Good Night All
Good evening all...
That's really something about the toaster recall. They just don't make products like they use to do they. Scary to say the least...
I guess some of you have noticed that I'm on the forum a lot more here lately than I have been in the past year. That's because I was sick with a failing thyroid all that time and didn't have the interest or energy to do much of anything except eat and sleep all that time. I'm happy to report however that I now know what the problem is and am taking medication for it. Amazing how a tiny little pill the size of a baby aspirin can make you feel like a new person...
Since I've been feeling better, I've gotten my interest back in the hobby, and have been trying to get caught up on all of the little projects I had slated to do. Yesterday I back dated a Southern Pacific piggy back car from 1975 to 1955 and today I painted the roof and ends of a plain yellow Union Pacific stock car silver. I still have about five 1950s automobiles to paint and assemble which will catch me up for a while.

, in a SOUTHERN PACIFIC mug tonight, please & thank you. (after giving it a try several days, I have noticed no difference between drinking coffee late and cutting myself off from it early)
***Gav, you make some excellent points. I hadn't even considered all the bonuses from going nuke.
***Paul, sounds like one of those days for you guys. Healing thoughts to Mary Ann.
***Tracklayer, great to hear you found something to help your condition. Also good to hear you have returned to the hobby.
Painted the first coat of black on the table legs. Still waiting to hear from any of you who know, is it better to use paint or sealer on the door (table) or does it make any difference at all? As long as it doesn't warp in the process, that is all I care about.
Back to number crunching (which is why I'm having the late coffee). Rob
Good Evening Coffee Clubbers,
Another beautiful day down here in Paradise. But the sun came out with a vengeance, and it warmed up to around 85º. Definitely a/c time. The forecast is for around 90º tomorrow and 95º by Saturday. I think Spring has sprung.
Speaking of pool, I got to go to town and shoot some pool with my Father-in-law this afternoon.
The coffee is good and strong tonight, as always. Goes well with the strawberry ice cream pie that Fran made. She used the last of the strawberries that we brought back from our trip.
Lee - I checked all that collection for trains in Mexico, but all he had were that shot you posted, one very similar, and one shot showing a trolley in Cd Juarez. But he sure took some interesting shots.
Ryan - getting a bit fancy with the menu there son, not sure if we can afford those kind of dishes. By the way, I do have a couple of questions. Regarding the LÉ PETIT COUCHON BATON, what is "forever braised pork shoulder" and what are "melted peppers"? Also, what's "Yukon Gold puree"?
Rob: Should I paint the underside & sides of the door (train table) with house paint, or would it be better to coat it with a sealer (like Minwax)??
Gav: hows the weather over there now. is it getting any better?
Paul - 277,000 miles is doing very well for a truck. I'm wondering if I can hold out until our Blazer hits 200,000.
Tracklayer: I'm happy to report however that I now know what the problem is and am taking medication for it. Amazing how a tiny little pill the size of a baby aspirin can make you feel like a new person...
That's about it from down here this evening. Catch up with you tomorrow.
Hasta mañana,
Ed
The stars of this video clip are the two Athearn F units I've had a problem with (see the 'Minor problem' thread in the Electronics and DCC forum). The third loco is a dummy. The two black locos you'll see on the other line are Proto 2000 E units running on Bachmann decoders. Now even though the two locos you're about to get a close look at are Athearn BB units you won't hear any Athearn growl. They have been re engineered so that they run very quietly and draw very little power. They're controlled by Digitrax DZ125 decoders.http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KqGcVWv_22o
think of all the benifits that powering all your loco's with nuke power? see how much your electrisity bill comes down on the down side you wont be able to live in your house for the next 1000years
Greetings from Sebring,
Just a quick note before I turn into a pumpkin. We finished the combined vintage/historic enduro this evening, then stayed for night practice to watch. Our guys finished first, second and fourth in class and 6th, 11th and back a bit overall, so not a bad result. Tomorrow we have our sprint race first thing and then we're pretty much done. We're staying for the 12 hour race on Saturday, then flying home Sunday. Early morning tomorrow, so off to sleep. CUL, J.R.
Tall cool glass of water, please & thanks!
***Jeffrey, another inspiring video.
***Gav, I think it's still worth having all the added power & that way cool Mars lighting effect.
***JR, best of luck with the race tomorrow.
Have you ever felt like maybe you blew it on the bay? I put up for auction a couple MATCHBOX along with a "buy it now" price that seemed fair. They were bought outright within the hour. Hmmm, bet that fella knows something about them I didn't. Oh well, at least I have a few more to put into my train fund than I had before, right?
Finished the wife's books and I can hardly keep my eyes open. Glad that is done.
Have a good night all. Rob
yes Rob
that nice mars light effect as your loco melts it's way through your trainboard and the floor. but what colour.
and on the specal board we have mushroom

And greetings from St John's Newfoundland, my home away from home. Ed if you're reading this it's not the time of year you want to be here! Ship was delayed by about three weeks now as the refit took longer than originally anticipated. We are going out for sea trials later today once the winds die down (Hurricane force last night on the banks ) and then the mad dash for home if and I mean if we pass. If so then the mad dash for home or a sheltered area neare to home as there is a deepening low forming over Nova Scotia come monday. Looking at the NOAA maps it looks like we are going to get H-A-M-M-E-R-E-D!!!
I Was hoping to get home by today as the annual spring Train Show is on for the weekend I have several older Locos selling there on consignment. Had an opportunity to buy a PFE Tenshodo Brass Big Boy for $500 on Tuesday but even though it's a bargain at that price I just couldn't justify having a Big Boy on the MESS... really.... Honest! I told George I might consider it if it didn't sell at the train show
I'm finally getting over the flu.... After a week it's about time! Saying that the whole family is home sick! Including my dear wife and she never gets sick.
Lee: Enjoyed the site on the CGC Sundew and Alder. I imagine she is getting ready for the spring breakout to occur.
Aggro: My gawd man haven't seen nor heard a peep out of you in a dog's age! Hope present situation works itself out as I'm sure it will.
Paul: I just spent well over a $1000 on Dad's 10 year old van. Looks like it will be closer to $2000 by the time I put on new suspension on the front end but according to the mechanic it will be worth it because the vehicle still has far bit of life in it. I guess it's better then paying out $30 to $40K for a new one.
Anyway Time for lunch
Later All

Good the hear from Fergie.......... he may not be hungry at all if the weather is that bad in St Johns.
Rob ........ does the Mrs. know you are telling on her regarding sawing logs?
Tracklayer.. Good to learn you are feeling better!
Nice video, Jeff!
Sebring sounds exciting and I hope JR keeps us updated from there.
I've been making some progress with scenery in the past few days.

Good morning,
Wet and warm here so all the snow is melting.
Paul, is that a 7.3L 1997-2003? I just got a safety recall notice from Ford concerning the camshaft position indicator something or another.
Tracklayer, I downloaded the Piggy Back special from Model Railroader Mag and it was very interesting, you might find it worth the $5. I always thought the Tyco piggy backs with just the trailer body (no wheels) was non-prototypical until I read the article.
ED, that collection is a pain in the neck to search, I think there were 6 pictures from Mexico in there. Try searching under railroads or transportation.
Ok back to work for me!
Lee
And a bright sunshiny morning to you!
Yesterday was almost 60 and the sun was shining! But true to Indiana style, we are getting off to a wet start on this Friday morning. Temperatures are in the 40s with some light rain. Highs today should climb to near 50 degrees. Another storm will brush the region on Saturday with light rain possibly mixed with snow especially across the southern half of the state. Sunday should be the best day of the weekend with sunshine and highs in the upper 40s.
Well, today the wife gets her staples out of her leg. I'm taking off at noon today to take her to the doctors office. I'll be sure she's up on her pain meds before we go.
Oh well, I'm off!
Morning folks!
Just took our little Chahuahua "Paco" to the vet this morning for his scheduled surgery on his left hind leg. He has been hoping around for the past 3-4 months and this is supposed to fix his little knee. He only weights 5.4 lbs. Little fella needs all the little doggie angels around him today.

Hey Ed, actually that menu was borrowed from Commander's Palace lunch and dinner menus in New Orleans. I would venture a guess that the "forever braised pork shoulder" means that it is braised in a stock and maybe even in a meat smoker for up to 18 hours at a cool heat or around 200-250 degrees. "Melted peppers" are a preparation where you "sweat" them until they just about turn to mush. The process of sweating is not so much a hot saute but a lower temperature on the stove top where the natural juices of the vegetble product are drawn out and it steams in it's own juices. And lastly, the "Yukon Gold puree" is made from Yukon Gold potatoes, which are a unique variety of small golden potato that are also a bit on the sweet side, and a puree is just taking the cooked potato and running it in a food processor until smoothed out, maybe adding a little cream or milk or sour cream to aid in the smooth texture.

This was 4 days after the first surgery. Things are still VERY swollen at this point. (Not for the faint of heart......OK, you've been warned!) http://i83.photobucket.com/albums/j319/pcarrell/Picture002.jpg She's doing much better every day, thanks!
Morning, Diners, and a rainy Friday to you! Zoe, I'll have a cup of coffee and some scrambled eggs, some near bacon and toast, please. Yep, and a glass of Ed's OJ, too. Thanks!
PC, I see you got that weather we had last night and shipped east. I think the sun finally came back out for now (but they're talking a second wave of the wet stuff tonight/tomorrow). Yep, just ducky weather. Great for MRR'ing work once I get off w**k today.

Gee, Terry, you're quick! Have you been reading my mind? (now that's a scary thought...) I'll go find your topic in the layout forum, too.
Rob, on the clothing thing, it was more necessary because the practice was for the videotaping they'll be doing in a couple or three weeks (they want us to wear similar colored clothes, and light colored clothes stick out in the videos). FWIW, this CD/DVD (as I understand it) is not just for our church, but designed for churches where they have no clue what options are out there (other than very traditional/piano arrangements). Showing what else is possible, essentially (for other churches who are interested).
On your table underside, Rob, I don't know about everyone else's preference, but I'd be inclined to use the same paint as for the legs myself. My .
PC, on your 'Friday' pic, is that supposed to be your wife after the staples are removed?
Some of you guys have a lot more nerve than I would - telling how your CFO snores, pics of their 'lovely' staples, etc. If I were married, there is no way I'd do that...
Ryan, do you have to try and keep Paco off that leg, or did the vet give him a cast or kind of support?
Got word that my Glacier Gravel kit came in. Of course, I'll need another one to kitbash it into unrecognizability... May pick it up this afternoon after work, or else wait until Monday's MRR club meeting to get it. Or might get some styrene corrugated metal-looking sheets instead of a second kit.
Ah, better get to breakfast, before it's lunchtime!
Blessings on your F R I D A Y ! !,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
