Mom & Dad are doing fine-Dad's getting better slowly, & just talked to Mom about an hour ago-she's feeling fine also-docs said they may have to give her a difibrillator, but not sure yet. She's waiting on news as much as I am. But her spirits are still good, & she's eating well.
Lee & Phillip-Thanks for sharing your recipes. I'll save & pass on to Dawn if she's interested-who knows, she likes to experiment if something sounds good, & always open to ideas-no worries, she won't pass them on I hope! (Lee-PM about the train shows to come)
Jeff-the age of your trailer & it's condition is outstanding, considering some of the problems she told me about of her neighbors' trailers in her park, & some of them weren't even 10 years old!

Yesterday it was 40F when I got home from work, by 10pm it was 50F. We have had thunderstorms and steady rain all night and its 54F this morning.
Jim, My LHS had the Bachmann Lyric Theater marked down to $17. Simple brick building, 2 story.
Last night I started work on the DPM "The other corner café". Seems I bought or collected all the DPM downtown kits over the years. Well time to go to work.

Yesterday afternoon at w**k was one of those appointments that I have to just unwrap my mind afterwards, after trying to follow the client's thought(?) process, just veg for the evening to do that. I feel better this morning, though.
Lee, I was wondering if the theater might be the Bachmann one. The manufacturers could stand to come out with some era-neutral theater, considering that most towns of any size (from the 40's on) had some kind of movie show. For me, the Bachmann looks older, and some of the others look kind of bigger than ones I recall in the 1950's. Of course, those multiplex ones now....
Got an email that my (Walthers) ATSF covered hoppers are in, so will have to pick those up (two-pack of the PS 2893 cu.ft. ones). Might have told you all last night, but my last of current eB** auction wins arrived yesterday - Walthers 4-in-1 modular kit. So I'm fixed up for any specialized buildings I need for a while, between that and the other modular stuff I have (Walthers and DPM). We hada new guy come by the club meeting last night, I understand (I was gone), and sounds like he appears enthused and ready to join, so want to meet him at next week's meeting.
I was looking through my motive power accumulation over the weekend, and I probably have enough for a while (except for a nice Mikado and/or Pacific I want). I have two P2K SW900/1200's, an Athearn SW7, Athearn Genesis F7A (SP colors), P2K ATSF GP7 and an undec. P2K GP7, Athearn SP GP9/7, Walthers D&RGW GP9m, Spectrum PRR GE 44 ton, Roundhouse Shay (2-truck, needs some fixing of loose rods), and a (IHC?) Mogul 2-6-0. Oh yeah, and several RDC's (five or six, I think). And only a 2'X8' layout to run it all on (so far)! A lot of the locos (other than the Santa Fe and D&RGW ones) will need painting/repainting and the CAW's logo and numbers put on. Still need a section with the roundhouse and turntable (and have to build the 90' Walthers kit and a Como (hydrocal, I think) roundhouse). So I'm about as backed up with stuff as the rest of you in here, huh?
Well, it's time to hit it here at the office. Walk-in clinic and crisis w**k for me today. And in honor of PC's daughter's new dog:

Lee, I'm kinda fuzzy on my units of measurement - how many gaggles is a plethora? That does look like a useful site for those parts. Now, if I knew more about how to tell which parts I might need for a steam loco, it would help more. Not that I'm too knowledgeable on the parts of locos (diesel or steam)...
We've had a few downpours here during the day at various times. The weatherguessers are saying that we may get strong showers this afternoon, but nothing coming down at the moment from those dark grey clouds.

Swimming was cancelled again, and mom was home, so we went and I took my Written Driver's Test. (Which I only missed 1 on!)on they way back, we came in on the winding Blind S also known as IN 39. around the corner, in the wet, came a very fast 18 wheeler. Mom screamed and reached over, as we both saw the trailer wheels crossing the line and coming towards us. We hugged the wall and made it through, but man. The pickup truck behind us was ironically Mom's ex whom we get along with well. he also drove trucks and gave the the driver heck fo taking the curve so fast.
BTW, the curve? it was laid because of a house on the hill. He knew people who wanted money, which he had, and they weren't gonna put a road through his yard.

We are getting the royal sampler package of weather. 60F sunny, 55F Fog, 47F cold and damp, Rain, and then Snow, and then freezing rain, and then sleet, and then flood warnings, and currently it's 38F, rain, fog, and 94% humidity. Tomorrow will be a High of 42 with thunder storms turning to snow and a low of 28F. I think our Canada neighbors are sending us their leftovers from the last storm, LOL.

Jim, No, no, no... one plethora is equal to two virtual cornucopias. A gaggle in geese is equal to one murder in crows. Aha, what to do with the pipe parts once you get your hands on them, well lucky for you I know pipe and I have several pictures I can share if you wish of pipe and its placement. I thought the oil conversion project was cool how they took a 0-4-0 shifter and turned it into an oil burning cab forward.
I have several (about one half of a plethora) Mantua locomotives that could use a new motor and some detail work. That is like project #1,345.78 on the list of things to do for the layout.

The set of four is pretty. Next I want the Kato business car and the Rapido baggage.

Evening Gang: We went to see the baby with John today. It's the first chance I've had to get a picture of him with Lara. She is still doing well.
When we got back I hooked up the dump trailer and brought it up to the house so I can charge up the battery. I'll have to get it over across the creek so I can start moving the dirt. That has to be finished and seeded by the first of March or so. After I did that I had to feed and that was a bear. The cows kept following me and trying to get into the hay lot. I finally got one bale out and that keep them occupied while I got the other two out.
The weather has been very interesting. For the last couple of days it's been warm like in the upper 70s and lower 80s. Today it started out around 70 and went down hill from there. We had some thunder storms and rain last night. We need it to really rain for a couple of days. It's very dry and we are having fires again. It's not as bad as a couple of years ago. Still there are have been some houses lost along with a bunch of pasture.
John has decided to stop working on the 7 1/2 in gauge out at the ranch. He hadn't done much on it so no big deal. He is looking at doing 5 inch scale/15 inch gauge. That is going to be much later when there is more time to work on it. I guess I'll have to buy the rail that he has collected.
Well I guess I'll head out.

Today was a bit warm to really be considered as a beautiful day down here in Paradise. Got up to around 88º or so. And bright sunshine to boot. Yup, it was a tad toasty while we were out in the orange grove. When a slight breeze was blowing it was enjoyable, but when that breeze stopped, head for the shade.
We actually had a local buyer come by and cut 3 tons of fruit this morning. He's supposedly coming back tomorrow for another 3 tons. No big deal, but at least it gets the fruit off some of the trees. They do much better if the fruit is picked before they start to flower for next year. But I'm whipped after spending most of the day out there. So tonight's post will be quick. (Yes, I did squeeze in a short nap while we were out at the grove!)
CG Jim: I figure that those chili recipes you folks have been posting probably would take off the roof of my mouth if I tried to eat some of them.

Reading all the posts under a big deadline, a rather large line of severe T-Storms are heading into our area, so I just wanted to say that I brought a photo disc to try to upload to -photobucket or rrpicturearchives.net, and it looks like I am going to have to shut the 'puter's down here in a few minutes!

Well, Zoe - now that the storm front has moved through our area (Garry and our southern Indiana/Ohio folks - watch out!), and (ahem...) now that Philnrunt has hit TOP, I'll come by the Diner briefly.
Got a lot of rain tonight, tornados south of us that looked on the radar to be heading up the Ohio River valley, and as I'm driving back home from a church meeting, I could swear I heard what sounded like hail (but couldn't see any on the ground) while I was stopped at a traffic light. Sirens sounded earlier, but I was inside the church building - and someone had said if they came around we'd be moving to an interior hallway (where there're no windows). But it appears to have moseyed on east of us. Now, we're supposed to drop from 70 F this afternoon, to 43 F tonight. I heard someone on the radio saying maybe even some touch of flurries at some point in the morning.[WHAT!?!]

Ed, on the spicy stuff, I'd probably be leaving out 95 percent of the chili powder and 100 percent of the jalapenos and peppers. Tonight was a good night to be glad you don't live up here NOTB.

Yeah, Lee, I saw that conversion on the detail parts website. Looked funny with that short steamer as a 'Cab Forward'...? I'll check back with you once I get ready to order some of those detail parts. I want to do an oil conversion of the tender on my Mogul; think I may have most of the parts I need for that. Ed showed us a while back (in the Coffee Shop) how to do a tender conversion to oil (on one of his N scale locos). I got a peek at your website this afternoon, but will go look again in the morning.

Seems we had a record voter turnout yesterday, how about you lot? It'll be interesting to see how this all turns out but I've gotta feel it's going to be good with more people involved and voting.
