We have a brand new puter at work, it's black and fast, the other one brew up last Thur or Tue or some time ago. This one makes reading the last 8 pages a breeze.
Silverspike- Thanks for posting those shots, I wish I knew what the NS thingie was, maybe it will come back someday and I can ask around.
Ed- Thanks for the info, I might try to post some pics here soon, tonight I just wanted to catch up on my e-mail-can't read it at home- and check in here. I have a bunch of pics to post to p-bucket, might do that next.
JimRC- You mentioned something about stirring it up on the other forums, but it was so long between then and now it took me awhile to remember what I said about the IceRail System. I haven't checed back to see what response that might have gotten.
People sure aren't afraid to say things on the net they would never say face to face, and I know, as all of you folks do, that we have a very good group here, and more MRR knowledge than should be legal to gather in one spot. Sure is a shame when someone takes something the wrong way (I think this happens more than not) or when a disagreement gets out of hand. I put up with that in my j*b, only it usually involves booze and fists. Here, it's about playing with trains, and I'd never believe anyone could get so upset over something so benign and happy. Oh well, I know I can always come through the Diner Doors and as they close behind me they close out a whole lot of the world with them. I can mosey over to the Old Hands table and, after the obligatory pestering and bugging and joking, settle down with some good folk and chill.
Ajo and I spent Fri in Portland, picked up pics at W-mart, had dinner at a great little Mexi-raunt, El Camino Real- with friends and then had desert at the Koffee Kup Kafe, then I headed home and Ajo to w**k, after she got off Sat at 0700, we spruced up and headed to Brownsburg for a B-Day party, didn't get home until 2100, Ajo was pretty well wrecked. But we had a good time.
My BIL is building a clubhouse for his girls in the shape of a caboose, I will try to post some pics of it, it's really kinda neat. When he's done- he hopes before the girls graduate college (they are 11 and 8)- it will have heat, air, a breakfast area, and a loft in the cupola. We told him it was going to be nicer than the trailer we have!
Well, gonna try to post some shots on P-bucket, oh yeah, just like everywhere else, the weather just really sucks here. Just wanted to add that.

Chilly this morning but the suns come out and that's never bad in New England. I'll have a regular and a stack of hotcakes from Bills' buffet. Thanks Bill. Got the truck off last night despite a bit of drama over a non working air suspension on the trailer (left over of a mod from our previous truck driver) so tomorrow it's off to Florida.
Ed - thanks for the heads up - I don't think my photo deserved to be there with the other fantastic work, but it's an honor enough to be viewed on Trainboard.
Went to the museum last night and worked on the new O gauge layout using Ross track and turnouts. We kept things simple as the O gets a lot of use from the younger set but went around the perimeter of the U shaped table and added an "oval 8" to the middle of the front area. Didn't bring my camera, but hopefully next week. No other work at home except a bit of plotting for the area to the side of the industrial area. There are two turnouts aimed that way, but no track or buildings down yet. Before I get too far I'd like to get an idea of what to put in the space, then return to detailing on the factories.

I've been working on designing yet another layout! it will be 1x3 feet, HO with a added staging yard/transfer table. it will be a industrial park with my well weathered GE-70 tonner taking center stage. Once i get around to getting a photobucket account, I'll post some pics...

Another below freezing temps last night, but sunny skies today.
Anyone going to watch the lunar eclipse tonight, the full eclipse occurs around 10:26 PM EST and is supposed to be spectacular. We are going to set up the telescope and line up the moon around 9:30 PM EST or so, just wish I had the camera lens hookup thingy to take some photos.
Watched American Idol last night, looks like the guys are going to give the girls a run this year.
PC good luck with the Pinewood derby, it is always a fun event and a great opportunity to bond with your son. Win or lose it is a good thing! PC said "Can I still get a good ole burger and fries"? And yes, burgers are on the regular virtual menu each day, so help yourself to one of those too.
Jeff I know what you mean about "to all things there must be an ending", trying to make this getting old as graceful as possible and the challenges get stronger each year.

Since I am observing Lent for my Catholic heritage I have abstained from the red meat for awhile, but I will gladly add some of the bovine species selections back to the specials menu, at your request we aim to please! Rob nice to hear that the big creek churning away, and is it possible for you to hook up a mini hydro generator to it and reduce your dependence on the electric grid? We have a small creek behind our house, but my understanding is that you need a minimum of about a 5-8 foot drop for the water to produce enough force to move a mini turbine to crank a generator. Mother Earth News online has a great PDF download on building such a device.

NittanyLion (aka Nick) I remember that old FS version too, my dad used to fly and he would play on the PC with that version. He also had a version by Chuck Yeager and when you crashed he would say something like "...looks like you bought the farm." LOL

Ed you are right about the rear view mirror working just long enough, that's why I'm going to wait until just before I go back for the inspection to put it on the window. Yes, turtle soup is still available from farm raised and non-endangered species. And thanks for getting the answers to the NS track geometry train testing equip with the pic Phil provided, now that would be fun to model too! BTW, you're up early this morning!!

***Paul, Sue: Agreed about good horses. All our horses have their own strengths and unique personality, but some are born with a special something. Our Twister is one of those horses that could learn to do anything well. She will probably be one of the 2 or 3 we keep. Her mom is Sandy, the old mare who will be leaving us sometime soon. Tough keeping weight on the old girl and she is almost entirely blind and I think has a touch of dementia. Gotta be real careful around her (let her know you are there constantly and be prepared to move).
Found some hay so need to make a hay run before the rain returns tomorrow. Have a great day all. Rob

Of course, if I got a bigger space, I would have longer possible runs between towns/cities, too, so that would take care of it. (Memo to self - find good woman with large unused basement space...)
JP, if your girlfriend likes trains already, all you have to do is take her to a few Red Sox games and you'll probably win her over on that. Just her suggesting going to a game is a good start!
Ryan, nice menu today (heck, they all are good - I just like today's even better). Your turtle soup the other day reminded me of a restaurant in St. Louis that my grandparents would take us to, where they had turtle soup regularly. The place was called Pelican's (wonder if they came from Louisiana, with a name like that for the place? There sure weren't any around St. Louis that I saw!). Oh, and I'll be back for one of those steaks tonight!
