Philnrunt got the email and thanks for the link to the train photos, really nice shots of them in the snow too! BTW, be careful with them guns!
Mike I like that wise old man story, might have to use that sage advice with a couple of boys around our neighborhood.
Garry nice photos of that 4-8-4 steamer!

JR thanks! And I hope the CFO is getting better too! I heard on the radio that many people are getting the flu and ending up in hospitals with this upper respiratory infections and sore throats and taking a month to recover, luck that I did not have it that bad. BTW, nice updates on the buildings.
Jeff nice updated photos! I like that night shot!
Jerry I like that Quonset hut!

Hello everybody....
Jim CG says........ "I'm thinking of going to Marion, Illinois tomorrow to a LHS there that several club members have said has their MRR'ing kits, supplies, etc. piled above your head on the shelves (well-stocked, by the reports). Will need to figure tonight just how much money I want to take with me, so I don't go wild like the proverbial kid in the candy store (or would that be bull in a china shop?)."
Jim CG... Chuck's Depot is a great place and it's 100 miles from here. His downstairs layout is terrific, too. I'd enjoy meeting you there sometime if we could plan ahead. Chuck will remember me, but he knows my friend Gus much better. Gus often travels through Marion, and he just can't avoid stopping at Chuck's Depot. For me, I rarely travel trough there. If you want to plan a trip there in advance, I could bring a couple of guys from here and we could meet. If other diners could get there sometime, we could have a good time. Chuck has a great selection of HO and he has some N guage stuff, too. One time, Chuck arranged a Sunday operating session (store is closed on Sundays) for a group of us.
Happy Model Railroading.

Evening Gang: Lara is diong fine. She is still gaining weight and may be coming home sooner then we expected. Mary Ann and I are going to have to take an infant CPR course so we can baby sit.
I went to see Tony today. I was expecting to see him looking worse but instead he was bright eyed and bushy tailed. His speach was understandable. I know that he is terminal and could go at any time so it's hard when he is so up. I didn't stay long as he wanted to take a nap. On the way back from Dallas I met a fellow vet who had been to Iraq. He was abit younger then me but not much. He retired from the Army last year. We had a good visit and exchanged names and info. He lives just a bit west of Weatherford.I guess I'll give him a hollor and get together sometime soon. No he's not a MRRer but was interested in my MR on freight yards.Who knows.
Jerry nice pictures. Is that the coal operation that you have been talking about? Also is that the trailer house next to it?
Well I'm going to take a shower and hit the hay.
Good Night All
Good Evening Coffee Clubbers,
It was a beautiful day down here in Paradise. Just right in the morning, sunny and a bit warm in the afternoon, cooling off again now that the sun has set.
Fran and I headed out to the golf course this afternoon and played an easy 9 holes. One other group on the course. It's still in real nice shape.
JR: When you visit trainboards by the way what is up? I've been a member for a bit now but don't really know where all the paths lead there. From what I've seen it is a lot of N scale and not much else. Am I missing areas there ?

That's about it from down here.

A cab driver reaches the Pearly Gates and announces his presence to St. Peter, who looks him up in his Big Book. Upon reading the entry for the cabbie, St. Peter invites him to pick up a silk robe and a golden staff and to proceed into Heaven.
A preacher is next in line behind the cabby and has been watching these proceedings with interest. He announces himself to St. Peter. Upon scanning the preacher's entry in the Big Book, St. Peter furrows his brow and says, "Okay, we'll let you in, but take that cloth robe and wooden staff."
The preacher is astonished and replies, "But I am a man of the cloth. You gave that cab driver a gold staff and a silk robe. Surely I rate higher than a cabbie."

Good Morning All,
In the thirties this morning with a lighter than usual overcast where the sky should be. A later start today but I'm in the shop none the less. With all the paperwork and logistics and phonecalls yesterday i didn't get into the fab shop until 4 and worked until around 7. Still need to finish the oil tank and a couple of special oil line fittings so we can finsih up a car Monday. We're collecting up bodywork from a couple of different body shops and gathering parts from more places plus interviewing truck drivers. Oh yeah and I need to go to Illinois this week or next to inventory a load of new old stock parts we bought and then drive them back here. So yeah Sat in the shop is needed in order to keep up.
Jerry - the layout is coming along nicely I think. You should get the box in a day or so as it wasn't shipped until Weds. Hopefully the stuff will be of some use to you at least to kit bash rolling stock. The coal operation is pretty cool also. Keep up the good work.
Inch - like the jokes especially the last one - too true sometimes.
Well, gotta run and make parts. C U L, J.R.
Good saturday Morning to All,
Hi Chloe, When you get a minute find me some scrambled eggs on rye some bacon on the side as I have to keep my cholestral level up. LOL. and one of Ed'd Orange/lime eye openers.
BAD NEWS FOR ALL IN THE MID WEST. Kevin, Charlie and I are sending another ALBERTA CLIPPER your way. We had real strong winds here yesterday and the temp was droping steady all day. At supper time we had a full blown Blizzard going on and many white-outs.We woke this morning to -32c and with wind chill feels like -45c. They say it is a massive cell and will engulf all, down to and including Tennessee. So, dig out those LONG RED WOOLIES again and maybe keep them handy for awhile. It sure isn't spring yet.
JR. We are giving you the green light for a very successful and safe Racing season. May there be many checkered flags for your team.
I have some chores to do around the house today and it is a good day to stay inside anyway, so I will get started by being a nice guy and make my wife some brunch. Hope to get to the train room a little later, and will check back later to see what kind of a day you all have had.
Stay safe and warm. You guys and gals in OHIO, hope you have kept your socks dry. That is some awful flooding in some areas there. And for you fellas in the tornado belt how about burying one of those containers and putting your train room down there so that you can at least get some modeling time in while waiting out those storms to pass.

Morning folks!
Not much happening around here except that everyone is sick, we all got the crud! Still fighting this upper respitory infection thingy! Just want to sleep...
Hope everyone is doing well!
No specials for today...not too hungry either.... on well!
Catch you all later!
Good morning all,
Not much going on, still plugging ahead on the downtown section of my layout. I did call my LHS and order 6" NS snap track to connect the layout sections and some street lights. I think once this downtown section is finished the rest of the layout will go by fast.
Speaking of downtown so far I've assembled and painted: Walther's: Merchant's row 1, Merchants row 2, Ice house and platform. DPM: The other corner café, MT Arms hotel, CJ Packing house (x2). I started the Bachmann Lyric Theater and need to start on DPM: Goodfellows hall, Laube's Linen Mill, and Kelly's Saloon.
If it stays in the 40's I may work on some of the bench work.

Silverspike: I know what they say, don't share.
That's funny Inch
Rev: Good to hear about your friend
And now, for the feast de resistance: I give you the most recent and *hopefully* the final copy of Half Moon. It made it's way to a bi level layout. I may still add a staging. We shall see. the upper pic is the upper level and will be changed. It's a n industrial area, but Dad and I want to add a lrage brewery based on the Beer Line before swinging out past an army base, and into my helix stashed in a mountain. the lower level leads through Half Moon, then through rural area/farmland, and then to the HO&N headquarters. under it it a multitrack terminal that houses the massize excoursion fleet. three angled tracks hold engines and smaller unused trains. the track winds into forest, past a small logging dig in the closet, before climbing back up hill, possibly past a lumber mill, and past the Home Division yard and patch refurbishing facility (Mostly paint and fixing. Major overhauls take place off line)
For those of you unfamiliar witgh the room layout, the large box at the top left is a bed. the box dead center that Teahachapi (indiana) winds around is a chimney that probably hasn't done anything in it's entire life. there's a stair way at the other end behind the L shape. the box containing the logging and Military is a closet.
Half Moon Orion & Northern started in 1890 as a connector line to the Great Lakes and Chicago. The rail line extended to other towns, and became a hoosier service line to small buisnesses and farmers to mocve their goods directly into the railroad infrastructure and to surrounding border counties. In modern times, HO&N refurbishes old equipment and supplies rental power using updated pieces of history. The line also sponsers many excoursion services and answers private car requests.
EDIT: I, I, Well, if it's gonna be a groundbreaking, I might as well foot the bill.

Hi Zoe, how about a nice root beer float, please.
Thanks, Flashwave!
Looks like several of you have been busy (and productive as well) from the pics. Jerry, I too like that Quonset hut. Who makes that - Rix, or someone else? Also like your quarry (or is that a coal facility?) and trailer. I wasn't sure - did you kitbash that, or scratchbuild, or what?
Jeff, more nice shots from you - I may need to get some of those Model Power lights, since our Hobby Lobby is running the 40 percent off coupon on their website today. What are they, 5 v.?
Lee, from that description of all your buildings (on top of everyone else's that they've completed), I'm feeling ashamed at my lack of progress. But this weekend, I may not get lots done, either. I need to get things ready for an hour and a half mini-course (anger managment) that I have to give at work on Tuesday. So, I will need to wade through the materials I brought home and get my notes/outline and handouts ready for copying on Monday.
After paying my sales taxes and license on the car, plus utilities and phone bills, I decided I'll have to wait a couple of weeks on going to Chuck's Depot. So how would the 23rd be for anyone else to meet up there around 11-ish - Garry? Jerry? Anyone else? I'm not sure how late Chuck'll be open on Saturday, and if a few of us will be meeting there, we may want to go get some grub. Anyone know of what good (and affordable) places there are for eating in/near Marion, or should we just go hunting for a place when we get there?
Besides financial and work considerations, I decided not to go today because the singles group from church is going bowling and then dessert/dinner afterwards. My buddy Mark is coming, and I offered him a ride back after things are done, to spare him from a ride with two gals (you know how the ladies can talk in a car when they outnumber guys... Did I say that out loud?).
Johnboy, thanks for the heads-up on that Alberta Clipper. It's sunny here today, maybe into the upper 50's F (13 or 14 C) in another hour or two. Pretty much Canadian suntanning weather!
Paul, good to hear that Lara's continuing on the growing. Good to hear that Tony's not feeling much pain and even is up to smiling. Maybe he's at peace with things, and with going whenever it's time.
JR, sorry I didn't mention it earlier, but I like your downtown business district photos. Really nice work!
Wonder what Fergie's up to lately...
Flashwave, you're coming along with those plans. Looks like a huge yard and engine facility on that lower level. You must be planning a few locos, huh?
Well, I'd best get going for now. See everyone later (about suppertime, before I go bowling).
Blessings and a good MRR'ing weekend for all,

Si. But I still don't have track for all the trains in planning. the RH is a facination of mne, and will become a model of the Madison Hill enclosed roundhouse, presumably used to store engines as the Ruben Wells took over going down, and then for them to pick up the outbound train. Mom loves going down, and I can't blame her. wonderful area. This RH is going to house Bicenntenial engines though, as well as older era steamers
A large,please & thank you!
***Paul, perhaps you can persuade your new friend to join the MRR crowd. Seems like a fair number in the hobby have military service backgrounds.

Jim, If the Seaway was open I wouldn't have this much time to work on the trains so don't feel bad. I am getting tired of building downtown models and I'm ready to lay track, but I need to keep to the grind stone and get these done, LOL.
I stopped at the LHS to pay for my recent order and picked up some micro brushes & glue.
Oh, and I got my Fed back last night. So using taxslayer it took something like 12 days to get my State and Fed tax return back. Not to bad.
Thanks for the Alberta clipper.......

PHHHHHTTTT!!!
We saw Bucket List. Good Movie. throughly enjoyed it.
Evening Gang: Mary Ann and I went to see little Lara today. She sleept the entire time we were there but we enjoyed it. She is 5lbs 11oz. She could be coming home in a couple of weeks. John needs to get going on her room. I think that he is going to be working on it tomorrow. I guess we could go by and help him, or not. More likely not.
I spent most of the afternoon getting the diesel unloaded. I had put two buckets of dirt in the back to give it more traction which didn't help. It took me about a half hour to shovel it all out. I'm going to fix the dump trailer so I can hook it to the tractors hydralics. The battery just dosen't last long enough with out a hook up to the towing tractor. The tractor hydrolics should give it an extra lift ability.
Flashwave: How large is the layout room? I don't remember what scale you are working in eather.
Jeff: I like your cluter. That's good the way you have the buildings set like they have been packed into the available real estate over a long period of time. Very realistic.
Well I'll cut out and see what else is going on.
A warmish, but beautiful, day down here in Paradise. Probably got up in the 80's again today. But I think it's cooling off enough now that I can sleep with just the windows open (and fans running, of course), but just barely.
Lazy day, not much exciting (or even boring) to report. Oh yeah, the burro with the courier package of mail arrived, so I now am full of railroad reading material. Received Feb and March Model Railroader, Feb and March Trains Magazine, Spring Classic Trains, and Feb RMC. My cup runneth over.
Flashwave - that looks like it will be some layout. You have your work cut out for you.
Catch up with you guys tomorrow.
Good evening Tracksiders! Like Flip, I've gotten way behind with the pages. I haven't been in because I've been busy cleaning track (the GLEAM method, which takes time, but is worth every minute, as far as I can tell). Also involved in this is getting all sorts of gremlin lurking holes filled in. These, in my case, are around grade crossings and turnouts. In fact just minutes ago I was trying to get an old, used-when-I-got-it Peco to function properly when switched to the straight. I'm not sure why it would stop working, there's no ballast that I can see in the way, but the spring thing that holds the closure rail against the stock rail no longer does that, for just the one direction. Shades of Cindy-Lou Who's Christmas tree light! It may mean replacing the turnout, as it's moderately critical to be able to use the mainline! Anyway, as far as the cleaning goes, it's about 2/3rds done for the entire layout.
Now that locos can once more run well on a largish chunk of the layout, I've been playing around with Low, Mid, and Top speed values (CVs 02, 06 and 05) for some of them. I had a pleasant surprise with my Life-Like F40PH. It had quite inappropriate values, factory defaults I guess, for the LL motor and gear train. Now I've fiddled with the CV values, it's like a new machine! So I've sent away to NWSL for a new set of wheels for it. The LL wheels are too thick, and hang up on some of the turnouts. NWSL has some for this loco that they claim work on code 55 track. http://nwsl.com/Brochure%20Pages/broch%2025746%20Wheelsets.htm
Flashwave: That's an interesting layout. I see you are able to drive holes through walls for your trains. Very understanding parents! I've an understanding wife who has put up with holes in walls for trains in our last two homes. It helps to own the house, as landlords generally don't like this kind of "modification".

Jeff: your photos continue to amaze! Thanks for the inspiration.
16 volt. I'm running them (around 40) off n old AT computer power supply that's feeding them 11.97 volts each and it's not even starting to work hard.
Gentlemen, (our ladies won't need this reminder, but it has been known that we gents do let things slip by...) is your last chance to get something done about St. Valentine's Day....
Must get to bed. Another storm coming our way for tomorrow. Could be the worst of the season so far, they were saying on Friday. Goodnight all, and God Bless. Prayers for safety for those in the way of violent weather, and for all those in need of healing, comfort and peace.

In modern times, HO&N refurbishes old equipment and supplies rental power using updated pieces of history....Rental power is going to be important on my "Maritime Trunk." I've locos painted for a mishmash of roads, and CN. So, I figure repainting all but the CN to some of the rental units I see in the yards at Stellarton. Railink has a nice looking GP 7 (9? I don't know the difference in the louvers!) stationed there. I wish I could get decals for it....and then this scheme shouldn't be too hard to do.
Actually, Dad's the one that took the hammer through the drywall for Closet Tunnel Portal 1. I discovered there weren't any studs right where we needed to tunnel through, then we handed the job over to John Henry. Soon as we find his camera, I'll get pictures of that. Or not. we know how that goes. As for power, Half Moon has become the only place where a Sharknose ABBA could be leadin the Pacer StackTrain past a trio of Dash 9s and Big Boys are being designed with light enough components that they can display on any number of tracks with a slight cut to pulling power and breathe steam like they didin the old days.
EDIT: Not scientific, but I made these for ya. If you can get a better picture of the rear detail, We can cover that too. It's not scientific, and you may need to tweak the sizes, as I don't know the height of the long hood of an HO GP 9 the Railink logo is 3/4 in a nd the road numbers are about 1/8 (cab) and 1/12 inch (rear) To print, simply find yourslef a sheet of printer decal paper. Either:
make some more decals using MS paint to scroll through fonts and MS word's rulers to determine the sizes
Make more decals with a better method, as I'm sure there is one
use up a sheet of decal paper,
or if you have any extra features on your printer that lets you run off index card sizes or envelopes
----------------------------------
and now I give you decals
I may need to email PM them to ya
