Mornin, farmers special n coffee please Janie. The new place looks ok, but I liked the old one better. A cold start [33] to the day, and expecting a high close to 50 and clouds.
Been busy with kids with kids, leaves, and chores n getting ready for turkey day. We picked up our turkey [21#] and ham [14#] last evening. Mother thought that finished the grocery list, till we got home and realized she hadn't picked up any ready made pie crust, so I think she's going to make her own this year [I hope].
JEFF,,, hope you be feelin betters this morning.
COLBY / MITCH, you folks can keep the snow up your way, we don't need any here yet anyway.
DICK,, the spinach deal had me wonderin too, cause I hadn't heard anything since spring. Looks like you made a great hall from the LHS.
COREY,,, WELCOME to #2 dinner, hope you enjoy your visits here. I'm in HO also [56 to 60] freelance, called the Yard Sale Lines, because most of its 2'nd hand.
GARRY,, liked the scrap box shed.
PC,, glad the wife's getting along good and ya got some more help.

Good Morning, Janie - how about a cup of coffee, glass of Ed's OJ and some waffles, please. Thanks!
jeffrey-wimberly wrote:Fever is down but I'm still not thinking straight after last nights fish incident. I hope I never have to go through that again. Amen on that, Jeff - you had us wondering last night. Hope you're feeling back up to your ol' self by the end of the day.

Cold here also this morning (33 F), so I may have some frost left to scrape off the car's windshield before heading out for laundry. Still have a little fever (maybe 99.something) and some chest congestion, and I may do my bank's cash advance to get funds for some decongestant to help kick whatever it is along. But my ear's not hurting and it stopped ringing by yesterday after lunch, and my body isn't aching, which are definite improvements.
Sounds like some of you have been getting the white stuff already. No sign of it here yet, and that's fine with me (too early).
Mitch, good that you will be watching how to get the thermocouple replaced for next time. I'm fairly "house-illiterate" myself, also. Hope you get some good MRR ideas at Sebring today.
Inch, you have a pretty busy track by your place, judging just from the trains that you were able to spot. Now I see why you're able easily to get train photos to post.
Garry, that shed looks very prototypical Nice job!
DerJohn, you've been making good progress with all you've been getting done. And you find ways to use all those spare projects or parts. Me, I'd probably have them sitting in my scrap box still. Hey, on your browser problems, you should give Firefox a try - it's available for free and is very stable. Plus, you can add plug-ins to block ads and help with other stuff.
Well, back to my waffles. Sooner I get breakfast and laundry done (yes, my car's the one with the mostly full back seat outside in the parking lot...), sooner I can get to the MRR'ing.
Blessings and prayers,
Jim in Cape Girardeau
Glad you're feeling better Jeff, the hibbie gibbies are not fun at all. I had that a few weeks ago and from top to bottom, if you know what I mean.
Did any of you take your trains to work yesterday for the Greatest Hobby Day? I forgot this year, did it last year though.
Off to get ready for the day, lots of errands planned and then LSU plays Ole Miss at 3:30 EST today....

Hello everybody ........
I'm really sorry to learn of Jeff's food poisoning. It's really scary reading Jeff's post before getting medical attention. Thumbs up to David and his family for assisting. I saw DIck was first to read it and Dick's sincere concern for our favorite KCS fan is much appreciated. Operations on the KCS Leesville Subdivsion are most likely suspended at the moment. Take care Jeff!!!
Ryan posted the LSU game schedule. Now why did he do that?
I can assure everyone I did not take a train to work.
Train watching for Inch sounds great.
Thanks, everyone, for complementing my speeder/tool shed.
At church meeting last night, a lady was there who has been being treated for cancer more than a year. She announced that she was just tested and is now cancer free. Prayer works.

Hi
Could I have a grapefuit with some OJ? Thanks.
Who's this guy at the door?
Nice looking place, needs some decorations tho. Let me see what I can find today.
Have a great day
Good morning everyone, not a cloud in the sky this morning, and a chilly 32F. The winds were so furious yesterday, that even the oak leaves blew off the trees that usually hang on until January. Up north in NH and ME thsy received blizzard conditions last night and about a foot of snow in many areas...the ski areas are quite happy.
Today I need to check out the new locomotives and see which decoders they take before ordering them. I am partial to NCE and Soundtraxx decoders.
MIKE: You have a great flow of RRtraffic in your back yard, you lucky guy. I can hear the CSX traffic on the main line, but it is 2 miles south of my house. When the air is moist, it sounds like they are right in the back yard.
RYAN: Did you get out in them thar woods of NC and shoot your Thanksgiving turkey yet? How about your stuffing recipe, is it bread and cracker stuffing or ground pork, ground hamburg and potato stuffing?
ED: The Yankees have taken their offer off the table for Lowell. Now that ARod is back, they need the money for salaries and an offer for Minnesota pitcher $$$$$. Any photo trips planned this weekend? How is work progressing on layout expanded area?
JEFF: Glad to see your back home and feeling better......now I want you to make up a little sign, and place it on your refrig......" throw the fish away, no leftovers"
DER JOHN: Your layout is really looking good, you are inspiring me to get going!! The mountainside outcropping looks terrific.
FERGIE: I see you over there looking through the window, it is OK to come in, you did not close the Diner despite what the newspapers said. Do you have an overhead shot of your layout? I remember your big wooden trestle, and lately your freight yard, it would be nice to see a total view from overhead, but don't fall off the stepladder leaning over the layout.
Speaking of leaning over the layout, have any of you guys ever invested in that ladder with wheels that Micro Tools advertises? It folds over on top of layouts from above so that you can reach way in, and it has wheels that allow running the unit right under the layout.
J.R. : Better bring in more firewood, it will hit near 20F the next few nights, you might have to place a blanket over your toolbox!!! But, the good news is, it will hit 65F on Thanksgiving Day before turning colder again.
Seeing most of you guys didn't take the Thanksgiving quiz, ( ED and MIKE got the highest scores thus far ), I have included one of the questions in the quiz of 20 multiple choice questions: Which State produces the most Turkeys? North Carolina, Ohio, Kansas or Arkansas?
Good Day Gang,
Just thought I would drop by for a bowl of oatmeal this morning as it looks like winter has arrived. Ground all white and light snow flakes falling. Makes oatmeal sound like a good idea.
We are so glad to hear that you are back at home Jeff. But remember what you Mama told you. "Listen to your elders." If they thought you should stay awhile longer, maybe that wasn't such a bad idea. Cause we want you around here for a long time yet. But a big round of applause to your neighbors for stepping up and giving you a hand. If we were there we all would have desired to help you as well. You are very beloved to us all. Take good care of yourself and that also means that you shouldn't watch that football game today and see LSU get swamped by OL' Miss. I bet that will upset you a tad.............
I'm always impressed and inspired by the modeling shown by all the guys and gals in this forum, you all are award winners in my book. As I mentioned the other night, I got the reverse loop that is over top of my helix in (roadbed) and back past the twin bridges around the end an over the gorge. But I am thinking that before I lay the track over the gorge that I had better take out that section of raodbed so that I can landscape the gorge as that track is fairly close to the front at that point and would be a bear to try to work around it. I am terrible for getting onto a project and wanting to see the trains run on that section, just forge ahead without thinking what do I have to do next and creating more work for myself.
My layout (HO) is in a room 13 ft. by 17 ft. It is around the walls about 24 in to 30 in. deep with a center penninsula with the helix at the end of it ( four loops down) to staging on one side and classification yards, some industry and a small dock will be on the other side. So this is a very full room, however I don't see many crew members it is mainly just for me . I am now having a serious descion to make and that is where to put the control panel. I don't want to be rubbing against it all the time so I am thinking of going overhead (like on a valance for the lights). I know it will take alot more wire, but have any of you had any experience with overhead controls ?? Could sure use some advise here.
And "NO" I'm not going DCC. I have trouble enough getting headlights into some of my locos.
I'm "old School" i guess you would say and also missing a few fingers on my right hand so some of that more delicate wiring is a real headache for me and I try to avoid what I can of it.
Well, lets get-r-dun. I don't want to miss this day off.
Hope you all have a swell week-end. (This new Diner is going to work out OK )
Prayers and blessings on all those in need.

Good morning folks, thought I'd stop in and say hi. It's snowing here in Wisconsin. Not enough to expose the idiot drivers, just enough to make it feel cozy.
Inch53, I love the name of your railroad. A good portion of my railroad is leftovers from a layout my uncle built in the 80's. Hence the name secondhandmodeler. I even use the MRC 501 and brass track! I did break down and buy a new steamer though. The mantua I had was pretty jerky.
For those of you that don't venture out of the coffee shop, here are a few pictures. All of my pictures need a disclaimer of "work in progress".
in a UNION PACIFIC mug, please & thank you!

Well, off to do the critter rounds. Rob

Just rescueing the diner from page two.
BUMP!
OH heck, its only me, Flip. Yeah, I know why you didn't recognize me, I got a regular haircut and got rid of my ponytail.. Jeeze, I was off the 'puker for two days and couldn't find the diner. Iguess we have to stay with more train stuff.
Prayers from all of us seem to be working for each other. Never underestimate that power.
Thanks again to all who post pictures. Love to see them.
My BLI is a PITA. Can't run it with any of my other locos. It starts at a higher voltage and crawls while any other loco is scooting along about notch 6. Oh well, it runs great and hauls nicely my 22 Ortners up the grade.
Y'all stay well and pray for one another as we have you all in our prayers.
Flip
P.S. My treat. Belly up to the bar or grab a table. Vinnie, here is my credit card..
IT'S TRAINSHOW WEEKEND!
Day one is over at the show.
I managed to get a STEAL from this one dealer... He had some awesome prices. I didn't have much to spend ($55) but I got plenty.
I got:An Atlas ALCO S3 switcher, SP Grey/red scheme, w/ golden white headlight, $30 (STEAL!)Accurail CB&Q 40' Boxcar $5 (STE-AL!)Walthers Trainline SP 2 bay PS-2 hopper, $4Hampton? (only markings) SP Cupola Caboose with a Preisier figure and red LEDs on each side, $15Atlas Union Pacific 2 bay covered hopper, pre-weathered, $0 (Vender let me get this one for free!)
I also got to see an O scale big boy and a BLI J1E hudson... Good stuff.
See y'all later.Mark
Tommorow... I get my allowance, and mom said she'll give me some funds... The way I figure it, I'll have maybe $30-$40 for day 2!
I can't wait... Again.
in a ATSF mug tonight, please & thank you!
***Corey, I like those weathered buildings and the fall colored trees of varying heights.
***Mark, CONGRATS on all those great deals. Enjoy!
My last (N) vintage loco set (E8-A's) is going to end shortly and with this my little piggy bank's tummy is just full enough to allow choosing my next upgrade loco. I missed a good sale on an Atlas SD-24 last week, but didn't have the spare funds for it. I spied a Kato NW2 on sale which is on my list. OR, I can keep saving and shoot for a PROTO 0-8-0 or Atlas 2 Truck Shay? What would YOU GUYS do???
My eyes are getting blurry for some reason. Going to go rest for a bit. Rob
Cederstrand: I'd go for the 0-8-0, although I am a steam buff.
***Jeffrey, I wish Bachmann would come out with their 4-6-0 N scale version. I would snatch one up in a heart beat. The HO model (which they use a photo of) looks pretty neat, to my eyes. Fortunately, most of the new n scale locos (steam & diesel both) seem to be top notch runners these days. Except for slipping up and buying that big Kato diesel, I have been sticking with mostly steam aquisitions thus far.
I can justify the NW2 as a transition era diesel, right?
Eyes are better now. It was very wierd...vision was vibrating, making it hard to see the type. Took blood pressure, that was fine. A mystery!
Rob
PC- yeah 777 is luck but now it's 778.
and BTW I was looking at some of the other coffee shops around and I found that some diners have close to 700 pages and they are not shut down.
Evening, Janie - I'll be at the back table (again). Just a hot cocoa for me.
Need something warm and soothing for my throat. Thanks, Flip! You're probably right, I might not recognize you with the new haircut. So how come you got the new 'do?
PC, that's a lot of metalwork! No wonder your wife's hurting, with all that. Uh, I sure hope you asked your wife's permission before posting that link...
Oh, and Corey - I wouldn't be bashful about your work - your pics look great! Love your work on the buildings and the stone retaining wall. Who makes the middle of those three buildings? - It doesn't look like a DPM product (which the other two appear to be). Nice work on your rocks in the overall view, too.
Good shopping, Mark! Hope you get as lucky on tomorrow's trip to the train show! Those are some great prices. Will you be wearing your mask on the second trip, too?
Rob, on your purchase decision, that'd depend on how much you like steam or diesel, I would say. Might depend on what other locos you have - does your (future) RR prefer one brand of loco (like Lima, EMD, Alco, etc.), or do you mix it up on your stable choices? (locos, not the equine kind...)
My cold/virus/whatever isn't completely gone. I was coughing a lot this afternoon, and when I went to church earlier tonight, I couldn't sing worth a hoot (usually I can do pretty well on singing). Almost have trouble talking above a whisper, really. Left a message on the small group co-leader's machine (croaked it, more like) letting them know I wouldn't be there in the morning for church or small group there.
This afternoon, I did get some stuff tossed away/shredded - a little start on the degunking of the apartment. I also got out the Dixie's Diner (SS Ltd. kit), and may wash that off and (after it dries) see about gluing it together tonight. Also will try to get a couple of the Grandt Line relay boxes assembled, since they're smaller and should take less time.
I'll be sipping up my hot cocoa at the back table. Sure would love for this thing in my throat and chest to go away - and forget the road back!
Blessings and prayers for all the ailing and in need of comfort,
Good evening Diners:
Mark, TRAIN SHOW Day indeed! That’s rare in this part of the world, so I relish being able to take one in. (2 in the last 2 months is more rare for me ) Here’s what I brought home.
The trailer flatbed had the white container that’s on top of the two Maersk SeaLand ones glued on it with paint, hence the white streak where it tore off. The three hoppers are all the same road #, but they are CN, which I need to bolster my fleet. The trailer at the building is fruit from Seattle! I figure it’s Canadian Maritimes fruit being shipped west.
The cars along the building? All 12 were on an open car transporter that I saw at the Truro show, but didn’t want to run an open one. I’d rather save my $ for the 80 ft closed jobbies. However, I got to thinking after the Truro show that if one turned up at the next show, it would be a cheap source of vehicles. As I was buying it and explaining to the vendor that I didn’t really need the rolling stock, the chap next to me said he would like that, but didn’t need the vehicles! So we split the price and I scored the 12 for $5.
Finally, and not in the pic, I was looking for a set of Z wheels for the container crane I have yet to scratch for the dock. It will run on two Z rails, and I need the wheels from two Z trucks to make that happen.
There was a Z modeler, Mitch, who shows regularly. I told him what I was planning and asked if he had any junker freight cars. Turns out he very generously did, and gave me a Railbox 50 ft (2.75 inches!) he didn’t need. So now I have less excuse to build that crane, once the blue desert has disappeared that is.
Well, I’m off to bed. Flip, great to see you found the new address.
Jeff, I’d say that frozen fish was off when it was packed, or got thawed, spoiled, and re-frozen. Words with WalMart…do you still have the package?
Mitch, good choice on not blowing up the house. Money well spent, Id say.
CapeJim: I’m hoping that the high speed due Monday will render a change of browser unnecessary. Still, I’ll keep Firefox in mind if it doesn’t, thanks. Had great service at Future Shop, BTW while picking up the wireless router and PC card we’ll need for the LAN once we have high speed. He was watching the local college football game, a semi final for the national college title. He should have been playing, but wrecked his knee mid-season. His team won, BTW.
Goodnight all, and God Bless. Prayers for all in need of healing (PC, I passed on your viewing offer!) comfort and peace. Yes, prayer sure does work.
"There are always alternatives, Captain" - Spock.
Good evening all
I will have a piece of pumpkin pie and some milk please.
Been busy lst couple of days. Dinner has moved, kind of sudden but we will get use to the new place.
PC wait a little while it will probable get psychadelic colored that will be an interesting shot.Glad to hear she is doing well.
Jeff I did the same thing back when I was in collage and after spending the night in the hospital the doctors told me never freeze fresh fish use it that day, only put fish in the freezer that is frozen, and always clean your fish in cold water before cooking the slim on the fish triggers bacteria in 5 minutes. Oh yeh took me almost 5 years before I would eat fish.
CApe jim hope you continue to improve.
der your scene is looking good. Nice job.
Got great news our lawyer has the babies adoption petition and he will file it with probate on Monday which means the adoption should be final before Christmas.
The foster boy we have meet his forever family today and he likes them and wants to give them a "try" he has been thru a lot and this is a major milestone for him.
Weather here was cold today and rainy yesterday. 15 minutes north of here got about 5-6 inches of snow and Sugarloaf USA got a pretty good layer. Drive down the road and all the mountains are snow covered on top.
Take care Kevin
Evening Gang: I spent the day over at the live steam track. I took the new tractor over and used the front end loader with the hay forks for a fork lift. We had to move a bunch of heavy stuff to get it out of the way of the new main line loop. This is only the 4th time we have moved it so this time we put it in a place by the fence out of the way. We also knocked down the old engine house. It was built in 1972 by an older gentilman and I was really sorry to see it go but it was badly rotted out and really didn't take much to bring it down.
Jeff good to hear you are feeling better. Take it easy for a couple of days.
JimCG: What I said to Jeff goes for you too.
Corry: Nice layout. I like the main street buildings. Where is Holman? was born and raised in Milwaukee. I'm also in HO. Thanks for the pictures.
Flip, what's up with the hair cut?
Speaking of snow, has anyone heard form Snoah? I sent him an E-mail a while back but never got an answere.
Tomorrow I'm going to go and run my diesel over at the LS track. I need to drain out the old gas and refill with fresh. I'm also going to run some Berryman's through the carb.
Time for bed. My best to everyone on sick call. Take care of yourselves.
Good Night All
