I got it !!  All we have to do to keep Jim posting here is to INTIMIDATE him !! Yep, he only needs 2 more posts to go past his 3000 limit !! If he forgets & goes past, then he has to stay !!

Ok, here goes !!

Jim : "you really ought to do something about your skimpy scenery. It's lacking in Character "!!

There, that should get him pretty intimidated & post a rebuttle !! Then, one more !!

Thanks, John

Rather than painting after the fact, add brown or slate grey paint to your water/glue mixture for holding the ballast in place. It will give it a really nice tone without going back over it.

Pure, unadulterated genius!!! Man, that's a great tip!

And not for nuthin, Frank, but your photo hosting software SUCKS. It takes forever for one of your photos to load and display, if they do at all.

Jon, I don't think I'd want to come back from such a trip. Memorial to Camp Douglas still there - just a bit south of where I'm sitting - along with the cemetary.

Jim, please post more!

Cold clear and beautiful in Southern Ohio.  We've got 8" of dry powder snow, been out this morning playing and clearing walks!  It great!, but I don't go to work till Thursday nightshift.  I went to Lowes and bought the spray paint to paint the coaler and was able to get real close for color matches.  The one color I figured I'd need to compromise most on was the tower structure, and rustolium has a hammered metal that, according to the lid color should be a dead on match.  I'll let you know.

Well need to got got most of my studying done for class this weekend.

Stay warm and healthy everyone and  don't forget Valentine's day is coming up

SNOHIO ?? How is the weather out that way?

I have to drive to Steubenville, OH on Thursday and stay to Saturday. I wondered how bad it is west of Pittsburgh and into the Great State of Ohio? Are there any "must see's" in the area?

Best Regards, Ken

Today in the Great State of Ohio, it is cold and clear.  The sun is shinning, a rare occurrences for this part of the country in the winter.  Schools are closed again today due to the cold.  The heaviest snow was in Southern Ohio where the hills can make it more fun.

Ken, Steubenville, Ohio is just north of Wheeling, WV and Bridgeport, OH.  Both of these communities are on I-70.   There are two trains stores, TS Hobbies and G&M Trains and Hobbies in the area that I think you would like.  (Google, can get you maps.) TS regularly advertises in CTT.  The Chief and I have both visited TS and they do a nice job.  G&M many times carries Williams and Weaver, which are somewhat a novelty in this area.  There is another store in the area, Patricks.  I have not visited this store, so no opinion.

Also in Wheeling is the Kruger Street Train and Toy Museum.  If you are a fan of Marx, this is a must see.  Even if you are not a fan of Marx, it is very interesting.  Marx was made just south of Wheeling.

The big Cabela's Store is in Wheeling if you like the outdoors.

See ya down the tracks,

Roger that really sounds good, where could I get a schematic or parts list?  I was considering powering it with a small AC transformer.  On the board you mention, you must be able to operate more than 1 light, from that unit.  I was going to see how much if I could find how much current they draw, it has to be just a few milliamps.

I was thnking I would probably be able to use a small 4.5 v transformer.  I've been saving these as a result of a hint from Jeffelectric.

Thanks for any information.

Good morning from a brisk Chicago where it is 3 and feels like 12 below - and that's just in this office. Wow, it is cold in here today - Trying to catch up on a three pages of posts, from just last night.

Jim A, congratulations on 3K. I only bought one call-bell so my 4 year old partner will be pounding away on it by himself. Though now you gave me an idea to go get another one.

John, now that's a bell.

Jim F, yes, it is definitely not "a hot time in the old town" this week. My city friends are trickling water out of their faucets so their pipes don't freeze - too many uninsulated or unheated basements. Not a problem out in the 'burbs.

Frank, mixing the ink or paint into the wet water or glue is a fantastic idea.

Don,

I have done some reading on this.  You may want to leave the items on the plastic to paint and then break them free when done.  May need to touch them up, but they suggest that it is much easier while pieces are still together.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a snow covered 12 degrees. Sun is shining. Going up to 24 today. Must be a warm trend. Hope no more snow.

Today, I have to drive into Cambridge ( 15 miles ), to do the weekly grocery shopping. My thrill for the week. I am going to wait until noon to venture out. Hope they have the road cleaned off. I can see the Interstate from the front yard, ( I - 77 ), and it looks like traffic is moving along pretty briskly.  All I have to do is find the road to get down off the hill. Follow the tracks. ( car tracks ). Thank goodness for 4-wheel  drive.

Good morning from New England.

Not much to say today. I overslept and was "late" for work, but since it's my late night, I really was only 2 hours early instead of 2.5.

I'm closing in on 3000 posts! It might happen today.

Have a great day, everyone.

That is correct, will not be able to unpack it until tomorrow as I will be involved in some medium duty courting for the rest of today.

There is some snow forecast for us and I expect to have plenty of time to follow your guidance re. power supplies. Snowy House

Hi All,

Its been a good morning, had a package arrive from Lionel. A new US spec. command base power supply. For those of you who have been following our progress on the frequency problems may remember that our command base set was purchased from the UK Lionel dealer. They had replaced the power supply with a UK spec. unit due to EU laws etc.

I was not worried at the time because all I wanted the set for was the Cab 1 to control a powermaster which I needed for the UK 18V AC power supply I had been sold to replace the CW-80. When this set-up did not work due to my son's loco having Trainsounds (also malfuntions on 50Hz). We then went with the pure sine inverter to get 60Hz US spec. power. Our first TMCC engine, a Beep with the ERR upgrade kit worked ok with 60Hz track power and a 50Hz TMCC signal. However my son's latest Lionel missile loco did not respond correctly in TMCC mode. Well it does now!Smile [:)] With the new command base power supply run from our 60Hz Inverter (correctly earthed) all problems appear to be solved!

Hopefully all this hassle with power frequency is now behind us. My advice for people on this side of the pond is to use the proper Lionel power supplies run on 60Hz power don't bother doing anything diffrent. My 2 cents [2c]

Working from home today......maybe I might fit in some TMCC train runningWhistling [:-^]

John B, Its the dockside switcher Copper range mine set is it not? Enjoy!Thumbs Up [tup]
