It can probably be cleaned......baking soda and water mixture with an old toothbrush on the contacts. Rinse and dry everything completely. If that doesn't sound like something you want to do I'd be happy to pay the shipping. If I couldn't clean it I could still salvage most or all of the parts.

genuine Lionel Smoke pellets - still have four bottles ffrom the 50's. I admit they are more powder than pills now, but I pour in a little of the magic foo-foo dust and they smoke beautifully. Not a storm cloud like the new stuff, but a nice elegant smoke ring - first time, every time.

Good morning!    CSXT30 (aka John),

Thank you for asking about me on the "Foiled by slow boat from China thread!"

Doing pretty good down here in southern Florida, the tornado's were up near Mickey Mouse Land in central Florida, missed the Mouse's House by less than 40 miles.   I didn't know about the tornado's until the next day's evening's news on T.V.  There is one thing that I will be buying in a couple of days and that is a weather alert radio!

I live near Miami FL just below West Palm Beach, about 65 miles from downtown Miami, almost 155 miles from the storms. The last bad storm we had was Hurricane Wilma, not the Flintsones Wilma! What I hate about the hurricanes is waiting for power to be restored afterward as it can take from five days to three weeks to get electric back on and maybe a week longer for telephone, also cell phones die because of NO power to the towers, also NO gasoline to be sold as no power to pump it.

I was in Homestead FL when Hurricane Andrew hit, I rode the storm out because of extremely late evacuation orders, so most other hurricanes do not measure up to Andrew in strength!

Frank53 might have been closer to the current storms than me, he lives near Fort Myers FL.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cold , sunny " 0 "  degrees. Going up to 21 today. That's not exactly warm. Suppose to warm up next week. I hope.

Today, I am staying around the house. Have a few chores to do and then down to the train room to work on the layout. I have all the materials that I need. Just have to get busy and put it all together. Think I will run trains on the lower two main lines while I am working.

Chief....Glad to hear your Mom is doing better.

Elliott ( BigBoy )....We are all praying for you. Get well.

I hear the Dining Car pulling in. Time for breakfast. Until later.

Y'all have a great day.

Good morning all,

SSDD as far as the weather in SE Indiana.  I am glad to hear Chief's mom is going to be ok, but sad to hear the news about Big Boy.  Good to hear Jim A is not really leaving us. Jim F, that is a bummer about the electronic set.  I hope you get your money back.  I sent the dining car to "Points East" with the usual menu this time, nothing special today.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Good morning from sunny New England. Cold, but sunny!

My thoughts and prayers to Elliott. Life is a very fragile, uncertain thing. When I hear of health issues of that gravity, it makes me appreciate all that I have even more. There but for the grace of God go I . . .

Yeah, I'm still here. You didn't really think I'd leave, did you?!!! You guys are my peeps(kinda)! Well, most of you are. I love this forum! Come on now. How could anyone take seriously anything I say? Especially about leaving? You guys are stuck with me.

Besides, I'm known as a trouble making, flame war starting, MTH bashing psycho rabblerouser on OGR.

I lost another auction last night for a Lionel 736 Berk. Not surprising as I bid low. I'd seen the same item, poor photo and all, offered not long ago, so the only way I was going to bid was to bid low. Missed it by 7 bucks! I'll just buy the Chief's. Maybe I can trade him some scenery talent for it? Whistling [:-^]

I was watching Jim Barrett work on a 736 last night. He pronounced it Berk-shy-re.  I'm sure most of you pronounce it the same way. But here in Massachusetts, where the Berkshire Mountains are, the same mountains that the loco was named after, we pronounce it Berk-sheer. So from now on, I want everyone to pronounce it "Berksheer".

Ken - hope the next trip to G'burg is more leisurely.  Perhaps you can manage to stop in at Carver's.

It's 17 degrees here in G'burg this AM.  Feels like a heat wave compared to the last few mornings.  It may even get to 30 by this weekend.

SNOHIO ?? How is the weather out that way?

I have to drive to Steubenville, OH on Thursday and stay to Saturday. I wondered how bad it is west of Pittsburgh and into the Great State of Ohio? Are there any "must see's" in the area?

Best Regards, Ken

Today in the Great State of Ohio, it is cold and clear.  The sun is shinning, a rare occurrences for this part of the country in the winter.  Schools are closed again today due to the cold.  The heaviest snow was in Southern Ohio where the hills can make it more fun.

Ken, Steubenville, Ohio is just north of Wheeling, WV and Bridgeport, OH.  Both of these communities are on I-70.   There are two trains stores, TS Hobbies and G&M Trains and Hobbies in the area that I think you would like.  (Google, can get you maps.) TS regularly advertises in CTT.  The Chief and I have both visited TS and they do a nice job.  G&M many times carries Williams and Weaver, which are somewhat a novelty in this area.  There is another store in the area, Patricks.  I have not visited this store, so no opinion.

Also in Wheeling is the Kruger Street Train and Toy Museum.  If you are a fan of Marx, this is a must see.  Even if you are not a fan of Marx, it is very interesting.  Marx was made just south of Wheeling.

The big Cabela's Store is in Wheeling if you like the outdoors.

See ya down the tracks,

Buckeye,

Many Thanks for this information. I found G&M, Patricks, and Kruger Street Train and Toy Museum. I could not locate TS Hobbies in any of my CTT's or by search. I may be able to pull off a visit to one or two of the others. I could spend a few hours in a Cabela's but my wife knows where I keep the Government Model when I'm off duty. Not going to even ask.

I hope this trip is better than our trip to Gettysburg two weeks ago. Daughter felt sick after her University tour and we had to rush directly home. Battlefield Auto Tour lasted 4 minutes as we blasted our way NORTH thru town.

Thanks again, Ken

Why do we live in the SOUTH? Because it was 75 today! Sunny! Beuatiful! Cool front tomorrow.

Jim A - sorry to see you go. If you change your mind come on back!

Jim F - sorry about your RS set - hope you have good luck on getting a refund.

Thanks for the prayers guys.  They worked.  Got call [I as down near Rockingham NC] from Mom's small town Dr.  Your Mom is hemorrhaging bad and her bllod pressure has dropped real low.  I have sent her to the hospital by rescue.  Dr. at hosptial has your cell number and will call you.  Well, Mom is half dead, I guess.  I hit the road homeward.  Call Frankie and Pam with report.  About half way, no call from Dr., I finally get the wife of one of the guys who rent the farm [they are like family].  She gives me a telephone number of Mom's room [she is already in a room?].  Call number and it rings and rings.  Suddenly Mom answers.  How are you?  I'm OK. Shock [:O]  Get to hospital [drove 78 miles and passed through Rolesville as it was shortest distance and then drove 55 miles to hospital], she is doing OK.  Hospital Dr. coms in and says, she probably has an internal hemroid and her blood level is low.  We are going to change her meds.  Unless something unforseen happens, she will be fine and will go home Friday AM.  Then they take her BP in front of me.  130 over 70. Shock [:O]  Well, the wife of the other brother who rents tells me the true story as she was the one who took Mom to the small town Dr.  Guys, you better have prayers for the small town Dr.  Why? Because, if I can get my hands on her, I'm going to skin her!!!!!!!!!! Evil [}:)]

Thanks for all of the concerns.  God bless you all and prayer does work.

Now for the not so good news.  Elliot is not doing good.  Tammy [Big Girl] is now staying home with him fulltime.  The removed lymph node came back positive. Ashamed [*^_^*]  They have now removed all the lymph nodes under that arm.  He has not heard the results from those.  May have to start cemo.  Gang, he really needs our prayers and support. Big_Boy_4005@comcast.net  Really hurts me to see this happening to such a great guy.  He always welcomed all who came to the CTT forum in its early years.

Tired and hungry.  Microwave popcorn time.

Chief, God Bless you and your mother.  I will keep you both in my prayers.  Don't want to bother you right now, but will call in the next few days.  If you get the chance, please drop a line and let us know how it is going.

Doug, Camp Douglas was horrific.  Worse than Andersonville from what I read.  In Andersonville, the south just didn't have the supplies, they did the best they could.  In Douglas, the commander and some of his guys were just plain cruel.   In either case, a real tragedy as many died a terrible death.

Time to play with the kids.  Y'all have a great night.

Dennis

PS: Buckeye, glad you didn't have a Billy Dennis in that list.

Hello All!    Chief- I hope your Mom feels better soon. I just saw the post about the FBI & Homeland Security who think that train enthusiasts are helping out the Terrorists which is a bunch of nonsense! Our Government needs to kick out the Illegal Aliens & others who do not belong here & if they had done their Job Properly Sept 11th never would have happened.
