Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cold, sunny 8 degrees outside. Going up to 39 today, with sunshine all day. They are saying that it will hit 62 by next week. I have to see this, to believe it. Still have about 4 inches of snow on the ground.

Today, I will try again, to go grocery shopping in Cambridge. The roads are good and I want to get this done. Later, this afternoon, I may work on the layout, for a few hours. I am making some roads from roofing paper, just to see how they will look. So far, looks good.

Dining car has arrived from " points west ", and is well stocked. Time to have breakfast. Be back later.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Chuck

Good morning from Close by the Wabash, In famed Hoosierland, where is is clear and cold this fine morning.

The KNACK has been recharged.  I am heading home.

Last night I had supper with the Coach.  He is doing fine, but his wife Pat, has really had a tough time.

I had a great time seeing my childhood friend Jim again this year.  Jim is a County Commissioner from back home.  We both had Lionel Trains as a kid, but our claim to fame is our horsemanship.  As kids we would saddle it up and let her rip.  (Please note we did not wear helmets.)

Off to Cincinnati tomorrow for a Saturday meeting.

Chuck, You are doing a great job keeping the Chief at bay and out of Buckeyeland.  I thought he might try to sneak across the river while I was gone, but so far it is obvious he doesn't want to tangle with you.  Although I really like or friends to the east in Pennsylvania, they are really at a disadvantage without the river to keep the Chief out of their great state. (Or are they a commonwealth?)

See ya down the tracks,

Good morning all,

It is sunny with temps rising to the 40s in SE Indiana.  I went to the YMCA and watched "Lost" last night.  Lucas had to work so it was a quiet night at home.  I have a class tomorrow so I may be late checking in with the coffeepot tomorrow.  The breakfast was the usual deal with nothing special so I hope it gets better as it heads to "Points East".  I sent e-mails to both Lionel and MTH with various questions earlier in the week and have not had a reply from either one.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good morning from New England!

We ran some trains last night. Our 2025 pulled a long coal drag with ease. The engine is one good puller! All our hopper cars are now filled with coal.

Not much new to report. I got a haircut yesterday, and even though I specifically asked for a trim, she chopped off a lot more hair than I wanted to.  Oh well, it grows back...

It's now almost daybreak when I head off to work. That's a good sign!

I lost out on a 736 on Ebay last night by $2.50! I need to get a home computer! These snipers are killing me!!!

jefelectric - How are those L&NE Alcos running for you?

Have a great day, everyone.

Good morning from a mighty cold Gettysburg where my thermometer is reading 2.5 degrees Farenheit.  AKKevinT - close the door would 'ya, enough with the cold, snow, and ice.  We got about 4 inches of the white stuff in our area yesterday.

Mrs. is finally home.  Her girlfriend does not have a dissecting aorta and they will monitor her heart valve for now.  Will need close follow-up with a cardiologist.  Good news for now.My buddy Dave is still in the  hospital getting dialysis.  Dr.'s are waiting for results from kidney biopsy to determine course of action and see if kidneys will recover.

Take care,

Went to dinner with friends after work.  Finally feeling better, but still a little tired.  My wife and daughter went to pick up their girlscout cookies so they could get them ready to deliver and when they got home I found out my daughter got sick and threw up at the lady's house.  Then, she steps into our bathroom and doesn't make it - messed up the entire floor somehow.  What a mess.  Anyway, my wife cleaned it up while I got her cleaned off and showered.  She seemed like she was feeling better after she was cleaned up, so hopefully it was just a sour stomach or something!!!  Praying for all those who are sick and need help.  Just heard Marvel killed off Captain America.  Also heard from a comic fan that The Punisher is going to put on Captain America's suit and take over.  If you didn't know, Cap's side lost the recent Civil War over licensing and control of super heroes.

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Hardees rocks, have to drive pretty far South or way North of Columbus to find one have you been to a White Castels? I think the Southern version is called Crystals.

If you find yourself in Columbus and need to soaber up White Castles coffee will do the trick or if you can find a Tee Jays country place try the barnnyard buster eggs(to order)biscuits and hash browns or home fries smothered in sausage gravy,Dinner [dinner]

Hey you Yankees get the snow stuff cleaned up before week after next.  Well, garden is fixed.  Limed, treated and disked.  Rows run for corn and onions [planted].  Lettuce and spinich sown.  Yards limed and front fertilized.  Tired.  Picked up pizza for wife and I for dinner.  Her car is gassed and oil checked [needs changing soon].  Will try to get last load of pinestraw in truck and water greenhouse before I go to Charlotte BPS tomorrow.  Dewey, should try to do a swing into Greensboro and visit with you.  Don't have to leave as early as usual to get to Charlotte.  Gene Autry show today at noon [eating lunch] had a lot of trains in it.  Later.

Well with the neighbors help, everything is cleaned up here.  That is enough snow for the year.

Just got a book on the Lehigh and New England.  Very interesting little railroad.  One of the interesting things is that it never got any closer to New England than New York State.  Had trackage in PA, NJ & NY.  Only had a few passenger trains.  Main freight was had coal and cement.  In the early years also hauled a lot of slate.  When had coal died, it did too.  Actually I haven't started the new book yet.  The above is from previous reading.

Take care,

0930GMT in a sunny mild Stockport, hope it keeps fine for the weekend, my niece is coming down from Scotland for a few days, haven't seen her for over 5 years and that was at a dear aunts funeral. Sad to relate it seems that the only time my small scattered family get together is at a funeral, so this is going to be a real delight. Funny no one seems to bother with Marriage or Christenings these days, not that I am a religion fanatic, just a nice happy occasion.

As Nick says Benny Hill was a victim of the Establishment that permeates our society like a cancer 'if your face doesn't fit? you're out!', when I was younger, I was black balled by the Freemasons because I went for a job with another member of the secret society. My father was a Freemason (he died when I was 7), I didn't find out until I was in my 40s. If you can get it? Watch 'Monty Python at the Hollywood Bowl' (the first one) their finest!

Nick I am reluctant to go through 12v to get 60cps (it seems a very costly route) but I have not found the electrical equipment I know is out there. When I was in the manufacture and export of machinery to the US, we made everything to run on your juice. In order to test the equipment, we used a rotary converter that was large and expensive. There must be a solid state device around? I'm giving myself another month and then 'hang the expense, throw the cat a goldfish'.

[Damn! where's Smiley gone?]

Hi all, 1710GMT in a very sunny Peterborough, if this keeps up it will be "T"-Shirt weather.

John B, Yes rotary converters are rather expensive and large. There are solid state frequency  converters which I first started looking for when the problem first appeared with my sons set. I wanted to have a "one box" solution. However they are also very expensive(we are talking 4 figures). In basic terms they work in identical fashion to the set up I use i.e. AC-DC-AC.

Another idea I had a look at was a American spec. online UPS with pure sine wave output. Again these are expensive I looked at having a basic unit built and the cheapest it could be done was £500! After talking with a very helpful guy who worked for a UK manufacturer of frequency converters. He agreed that the cheapest method was to use a DC power supply and a Pure sine 110V 60Hz inverter.

The Amperor 300 Watt 12V 25amp power supply is very good value a £39 including the dreaded VAT. I keep looking for a better value supply but I have yet to find one. In effect we are building are own solid state device.

Its a pain in the *** but running stuff thats a little unusual always involves a challenge. The sense of satisfaction when I got the CW-80 and trainsounds working was great. Even better when I got TMCC fully working.Cool [8D]

Afternoon all.  Got ready early this AM and buddy drove up.  Then he had to rest as he had just eaten a biscuit from Hardees.  Waited for 30 minutes and then went to pond.  He had his chainsaw and he was going to cut tree for me around the pond so they would fall in the pond.  He cut first one and it fell sideways.  He gave out.  I cut the rest and they fell right.  Poor guy was about dead when we finished.  I thought I was out of shape.  Now to fix lunch.  SNOW???  It is 62 degrees and climbing here.  Got to get lime and nemotocide on garden.  Will chat later.  Dennis, good plan.  Hope to get this one [not screwed up like Macon] and then we will have some meal time and go to Dr. John's early church [as store does not open until 10 AM on Sundays].

Oh, BTW, good morning all!

Cool and clear here in the Bluegrass this morning.  I had a Hebrew vocab quiz again, ugh!  I think I got a 70, bummer.  Good thing I get to drop my lowest quiz grade at the end of the semester, hopefully that 70 will be the lowest. Wink [;)]

Ran the train some last night, but mostly worked on my Hebrew words, those things look like chicken scratch.  Anyways, I've got class in 30 minutes, and I have a short thing to write for it.  Take care all.

Buckeye, I am sorry I did not mention this earlier.  Our hearts go out to the family and friends.  We did hear about this, unfortunately it was the day after we got blasted by the tornados.  With all the damage here, and the extra patients, I guess it took second page to that.  It is always a tragedy when such things happen.  I have driven that stretch many times and it is easy to see how a driver could be confused.  I believe they say it has been the scene of 80 similar accidents in the last few years.
