Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 63 degrees. Going up to 90 today, with sunshine.

Today, I am hoping the repairman will call, and come out to fix the A/C. It has been a little warm in the house, but it has cooled down at night . Sleeping good.

Not much on the agenda today. Mowed the greass yesterday. Did not grow much. Have to run an errand later. No time for trains, depending on A/C repair.

Dining Car is here and well stocked. Time for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps in the 80s.  We may get some rain and cooler temps in the next few days, but I will not hold my breath.  I went to see the boys play at Morristown last night.  There were only two positive aspects to the game.  One is that I got in free and two is that the team won 2-0.  Other than that, it was a dismal night.  The home team only had 13 players and most of them looked like me (gravitationally challenged).  Our passes were not sharp and we did not score until deep in the second half.  It was kind of embarrassing.  "My" soccer girls are on the road tonight as well, but I think weather may have an impact on the game.  I did go to the YMCA and did weights and track work.  Although I really love cupcakes, I had bran muffins for breakfast on the "dining car" this morning from "Points East".  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

GOOD MORNING

I don't think any of my neighbors would care if I used their wireless for 10/15 mins. And I live in the north where some folk are not as friendly as the Rebs. Keeping them from their service a long time would be different. It is my understanding that it's an illegal practice though.

Nice warm morning going to the 80s, a new record yesterday of 86 old  was 84. storms possible later.

Brutus I seem to have returned to my same old ugly self so I guess no harm done. Going to have a cupcake and coffee. Everyone have a safe day and I'll be back.     Sir James

Afternoon everyone,

Well, it was actually a fast day here. School wasn't bad at all. I have off tomorrow so I don't have to worry about sleep tonight. I guess I'll watch NCIS, The Unit, and Chris Angel. Of course I will be playing XBOX360 and just relaxing.

Have a good afternoon everyone.

Evenin' boys.  Prepping the chicken thighs and legs for bar-b-que dinner.  Cooking isn't my "forte" either, but I like to eat.

Evening all, Had some excitement over here yesterday with a few mini tornado's. One passed over our back garden. We have one of those big round trampoline's, which I watched being picked up. Shock [:O]  Luckly due to wind direction it got lodged against the garden fence and not dropped onto my DeLorean! Which is parked on the grass nearby awaiting the garage to be ready. The trampoline takes two people to lift so its pretty heavy. Very sure that I don't want to be around a full size tornado when they pick up tractors etc! No damage apart from the odd tree branch down which makes it possible to see the path it took through the village.

Working on our layout plan, on one loop I want to have ether a Lionel 213 lift bridge or the Lionel swing bridge. Any views on which is the best?

Have a good one

Nick

I can't confirm the non-cooking part, but I can confirm the eating part! Smile [:)]

Personnally I love to cook.  At this point I can't wait to get home so I can throw some steaks on the grill or chicken... anything...

Spent the morning traversing New England checking out the trainstores while Susan strolled the conference.  Went to North East Trains where I found my C&O PS-4 Flatcar with trailers. Wink [;)] Then Susan called and said she was done, asked where I was.  Told her I was on my way to CharlesRo and she said, 'Stop by and pick me up.  I'm done for the day.' Smile [:)] So Susan and I stopped by CharlesRo and I picked up a Lionel C&O Autocarrier, and a K-Line Chessie Die-cast hopper.  Not too bad a haul!  CharlesRo only operates their layout on Friday and Saturday, but we did get to see it 'not in action'.

Some of you may think we are crazy out here.  Well this just goes to prove it! Laugh [(-D] This idiot decided to move a house donated for the homeless.  Gets a route approved, then makes a detour.  House won't fit under a bridge, so bridge takes a foot off the roof, and causes the axles to break.  House ends up stuck on the freeway for a week.  (Caltrans removed it today, owner gets a $20k, bill).  This is a HOUSE, not a mobile home.  Close up pictures showed the actual foundation.  This view doesn't show it but there is an actual For Rent, sign that's been posted on it.

Moving Day for House on 101 Freeway
September 25, 2007, 6:46 AM PDT

Moving Day for House on 101 Freeway A home that has been on the right shoulder of the Hollywood (101) freeway for more than a week, since a mishap occurred while it was being transported, is expected to be moved today.

The home has been sitting on the northbound side of the freeway near Universal City. It became stuck there Sept. 15 when the roof clipped a freeway overpass and the wheels of the trailer transporting it began to fall off as the structure was being moved from Santa Monica to Santa Clarita, where it was intended to provide shelter for the homeless.

The home's owners, Kimberly Bigman and Patrick Richardson, were issued a permit by Caltrans to take the home to its new location by traveling on the Santa Monica (10) Freeway to the San Diego (405) Freeway.

Bigman said that the transition road was closed, so the couple took a detour to the Hollywood Freeway.

Evening all,

Just got home from work.  Bride on her way home from work, 12 hours in pedetrics she is an RN.  Got instructions to nuke some leftovers, now that's my cookin'.

Fife-Daughters can be a huge source of frustration when it comes to boyfriends.  Sometimes the more you dislike one the more "attractive" their appeal is to your daughter, go figure.  I found you are in a no win situation.  If daughter is looking for a long term relationship try to convey to her you MUST be friends first, then bonds of attraction form from there.  What starts as lust rarely becomes meaningful friendship.  In the end your mate should be your best friend.  I do pray for you and your daughter and all the rest of you with tenn daughters.  It breaks my heart to see the anguish my oldest daughter lives with.

Need to get supper ready for my best friend

MAy God bless

Nick;

I have both bridges. The Lift Bridge is easier to install and doesn't take up much room. Just put in place of two or three straight sections. It is a neat piece of equipment.

The Swing Bridge has some instalation issues: 1) You have to have a space on either side of the tracks as wide as half the length of the bridge. 2) If the base of the bridge is sitting on your bench work, you will need to raise the track about 3 or 4 inches from bench level to track level on the bridge or put the base of the bridge in a depressed area. It does work well and looks neat as a moose as it raises about an inch off the base before it swings to an open position.

Hope this helps.

Dougdagrump - wrking on plan for portable layout for garage - thanks for the idea!

Nick!  Sure glad to hear you are okay!  That was a close one!  My wife was in a house as a kid babysitting and a tornado went by one house over while she was watching - she's scared to death of them now!  We get our share in MO, too.  Have to go in the basement about once a year or so just in case.

88 - sounds like a great haul!

Fife/Tmcc - LOL Laugh [(-D]

Don - that house story is hilarious!  I emailed that to several buddies!  D'oh!!!

Laz - I need to mow too and supposed to rain tomorrow.  I didn't mow Sunday.  Thought about doing it yesterday while I was off waiting for the cable guy, but didn't want to miss the call or something.  Oh well, it's pretty bad, but will wait on Thursday I guess.  Going to be down below 80 this coming weekend and no OT offered, so don't feel guilty for not working!

RT - Watch out for that BLUE ICE Chief dropped on your house!

Mel, those bridges sound cool!  Any pics?

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

good to see your back safe there chief . Oh by the way you missed my place by just that much believe it or not.

Well got the B&O on display nex have to get the Viginian's and the southern up there. May even do the Santa-Fe befor its all over (lots of shelves) all diesels Guess don't have room for the steam well we'll see before it all done and said. Will try to put some new pics in the sunday photo this coming sunday.

Need to get some smaller radius track than I have in gargraves I have o64 think I need atleast to go down to 042. the B&O Passenger cars look great on the O64 but I don't have room I have about 6" of straight between my 1/4 turns on one wall and about 18" on the other wall and if I can get this to a loop will be strange in shape I will need a lot tighter on one set of curves. Have to make room for door to open as low ceilings. Ceiling about 2 1/2" above door.

Evening all, (Morning to most).

Wife has made it to Cedar Bluff IA, they have had a lot of wet weather along the way.  Apparently today was clear and dry.  They are headed for Superior Wis, should arrive there probably Thursday.

Pot Pies were OK, let me think I guess tomorrow will be fast food.  We will be going to train club most likely.  So have to grab something to eat on the way.  Very limited time available.

Tonight did more clearance checking with multiple engines.  Everything working well!  Spotted track in the Engine Yard area.  I think its going to be pretty good.  Making provision for a cabeese spur near the engine house. Wore a blister on my thumb switching the switches manually while checking the clearances.  I still am surprised it all fits as well as it does.  Do have a lot of rough spots that will require a little work.  Going to have a couple of sheet metal "bridges" cut to accomodate of walk through points.

Hope everyone has a great day!  And remember to be good to everyone!!! (Unless they tick you off)

Left some brownies and fresh coffee, just turn it on.

Lights out

Last night went and picked the apples from my backyard orchard. Watered the orchard for 2 months as we've only had about 2 good rains in that time period. Had plums in June but no peaches or pears, as the mid-April blizzard killed the blossoms. Hopefully we'll get those next year plus a good grape harvest. Temps in mid-90s today as summer continues holding on.
