Question for you construction/destruction experts.

Like a lot of other builders in my neighborhood, mine didn't tamp down the earth sufficiently in the concrete porch and sidewalk area and there's a mini cave underneat with lots of animal holes. BB the beagle enjoys the holes, as she digs and sniffs the rodents but I'm afraid she might get stuck down in one of them holes.

How can I fill the holes. My wife says to dump concrete down, but I've heard that sand will do the trick.

Any tips appreciated!

Good Afternoon Everyone !! Nice day here again !!

Don : you must have an awful lot of women truck drivers out your way if they have pink curtains in their trucks !!  I haven't noticed any out here yet !!

Dave : I would just pour the cement in the holes & add water after !!  I did that once when I made clothes line poles & cemented them in the ground. It worked !!

James : I stopped by Jim's & ate all the cupcakes you left but I didn't touch the chips !! Laugh [(-D]

Hope everyone has a nice day !!

Thanks, John

I agree with John.  Cement and then water.

Adding sand will make it easier for the vermin to tunnel in next time.

Howdy fellas...

Susan and I made it to Boston.  Only took us 30 minutes to get from Logan Airport to the hotel - seems they built/dug this 'upgrade' to the highway system here and Garmin doesn't have the updates on their software yet.  8 wrong turns till the British Chick found a road that existed!

Anyhow... sitting in the hotel room and Garmin tells me that I can't download an update for their software... they have to mail it on a SD Flashcard and then I can install from there... Banged Head [banghead]

Vanities are in for the master bathroom remodel... they are solid mahogany... very nice!

Hope to make it to CharlesRo and North East Trains tomorrow... Wednesday Susan and I are taking a walk on some historical trail they have around here... I may take a trip over to Boston Common and Cheers while Susan is at the seminar this afternoon... well off to take a quick nap.

Afternoon everyone,

Fife, hope it gets worked out too. I'm just really mad that I will be out of the games for a few weeks. Good luck with the new kid your oldest brought home.....he sounds really nice. I have no tatoos or piercings btw.

So....thank the lord for wireless internet. I'm sitting on the family room couch with my laptop. My knee and the surrounding area is really swollen up now. So I have ice on it.

Ok, time to go read more posts and see if I missed anything.

Well will try to post agian as last one didn't take first time for me know chief says it happens a lot to him guess its a southern thing .

Got my hot water element in at last. Not as easy as I figured. I hooked hose to drain open drain (first wqent outside and turned off water from city) and heard it draining. went played on putor, went back shook tank heard it drain a little more went back to putor went back about 45 minutes later and took old elememt out and got a bath that was unwanted. (wife not happy either as she is now soaking up water from bedroom closet. anyway got new element in the tank and water is getting hot so we do have hot water but its a little rusty looking so figure it was from shaking tank so that will be next prodject down the road when I have the money.

Now its time to start working on my shelves for my room for my trains Big Smile [:D]

Hey guys, I have been in the city around Stuart FL and had NO cell phone service because the trees are too tall.  Also been to Paco GA and had NO cell phone service for over 25 miles west of Paco, got off at the wrong exit on I-95 and went west to Camilla GA, should have gone closer to Thomasville GA.   Seems like cell phone service is taken for granted by most people!

Ever been through a hurricane and try to use your cell phone after the storm? No can do!!! Cell phone towers need electricity to operate, which means no electric no cell phone.  After Hurricane Andrew in Homestead FL we had regular phone service all the time, no outage as Bell South or AT&T use battery back-up for landlines, no electric for seven weeks but had telephone all the time!!

Just thought that I would throw in my experiance with cell phones.

Hi guys, cable guy came and fixed us up at about 2:30.  Guess I could have worked most of the day, but didn't know when he'd show up.  No problems as Chewy and I had a good time watching some scary movies that the kids can't watch!

Well, first order of business appears to be this post:

 edw wrote:
 Brutus wrote:

Luckily, one of my neighbors has a wireless network that is not secured, so I could do emails!

I noticed in a previous post when you were talking about vandals misappropriating someone else's property, you became very indignant and said something to the effect that you have "old school" values. Exactly what did you mean by that?

First, welcome to the coffee pot, edw!  I'm not sure if you ever posted here before, but there are a bunch of great men and ladies around here that are very friendly and helpful.  This is where we come to have some fellowship.  I'm assuming your post was meant as a question and not any kind of personal attack, since I don't know you.

Here is what I actually said:

 Brutus wrote:
John Baker - that's a real shame.  Vandals should be forced to pay for the materials and fix the mess, over and over again until it is better than new.  Guess I am old school in many ways.

As far as I know, I have not damaged anyones property.  My neighbor who cut my cable definitely did damage Charter's property and according to the cable repairman he knew he did it - I can't see into his heart, personally.  Perhaps he did and was embarrassed.  I hope that I would have gone to his door and told him I cut a cable and ask if everything was alright.

I didn't comment on stealing before, but I will now.  I don't approve of stealing, of course.  I didn't really think that I was "stealing" from anyone, although I did realize that I was not invited to piggyback on anyone's bandwidth for a few minutes last night when I downloaded a few emails (I think 4 or 5) and then posted here to let folks know I would be offline.  If someone listens to the radio that we are playing loudly on our front porch, are they stealing the song from us?  OTOH, if I climb on the back of your car while you are going to the grocery store, I guess I have slowed your car slightly and caused you to use more gas...  So, I guess that's what I did.  Therefore, let me apologize to you for setting a bad example and for sinning against someone else.  If I knew who's NETGEAR gateway I used, I would go pay them for their time and also give them some free advice.

I searched your posts and see that you appear to be a very straightforward person and you speak your mind.  If you want to have a conversation with me on some issue you have with me or with past posts I have made, please use the quote button and include my actual posts so that we all know what I actually said.  I'll do the same!  Smile [:)]

EVENING FOLKS,

Brutus- there's a full moon tonite and I've had to shave three times,it's not even dark yet.

Well did not get to run trains saw them once. But I did read part of CTT and liked the suggestions and ideas.  My neighbors still in the hospital, they have said no heart attack but they can't find anything else either. She said they are keeping her there and doing one test a day now and she wants to get home.

The shipping charge is kind of high on the cupcakes but at least Chuck did not add Ohio sales tax.                         Later All, got to shave again.         Sir James

Well, Sir J, I've found that the hair spell doesn't last very long.  Hair today, gone tomorrow!  Laugh [(-D]

Chuck, I guess I should say thanks for all those cupcakes!  But, could you add a few doggie treats, Chewy really shouldn't eat all that icing!  Smile [:)]

Dougdagrump - great Pumpkin car! Laugh [(-D]  Need to get started on mine, but I'm not allowed to "take over the family room" this year, which rather limits me.  Was at the mall on Saturday and they had some Dept 56 stuff out I never saw before, including a Pumpkin water tower that was really cool!

John S - You are the best, thanks for all your help!  Extra cupcake icing for you tonight!  (I stole Chewy's secret stash - don't tell anyone, including her!)  Laugh [(-D]

The next halloween car, currently in process, will be the "Boney Island Express" gondola with passengers. Evil [}:)]

Mmmmmm, cupcakes

how about some Devil Dawgs.

Today has been an extremely tuff day, I am doing something that some would consider "Sacriligious". There is just to much JUNK in the garage so a whole bunch of rolling stock boxes are going into the recycle bin. I am going to keep loco, caboose, operating and die cast hopper boxes but everything else goes.  Talk about stress. BooHooHoo

Jim, You ever thought about doing like we do and setting up in the garage for the one night and handing out the treats there. You'll be surprised at the number of people, kids & parents, who will linger a bit or even come back to watch the trains. Approve [^]

About the tatoos?

Good evening,

Once again, thank god for wireless internet. I'm sitting in the recliner watching CSI: Miami. My knee is hurting again so I am going to have to take tylenol or motrin.

BTW, I was on a wireless unprotected network before I got mine. My neighbor put it in so we could use it too. I'm sure that Jim F's neighbor wouldn't care if he got 4 emails and a post here.

Evening all,

Check out more clearance and fit relationships on layout.  Everything is looking good.. Using biggest cars and multiple engines in both directions.  Have found a couple of "tight" areas but hey were easily adjusted.

Dinner wasn't too much, did macaroni and cheese and pork & beans.  Obviously, cooking is not my forte.  Tommorow night Pot Pies.

Goodnight all, fresh pot of coffee on, (added some vanilla to the coffee grounds)

Morning all

Switching around to dayshift for a few days.  A lot busier, more admin stuff.

Chuck-Gave me a thought, have a bake sale to raise money for trains.  Now to bake the goodies.

Fife-Good luck with daughter's choice in boyfriends.  SIL is looser, was looser and has no desire of changing.  Daughter really considering booting him out.  Should of done it long time ago.

Don-I'm not a cook either.  The year I was in Oak Ridge, I had leftovers from the meals bride would make when I was home, or go out for fast food.  And I'm too cheap to eat out often.

Got to go

May God bless

Up earlier than planned.  About thirty minutes ago, I thought a tornado was hitting the hotel.  Then realized it was a cargo jet taking off from Alliance [cargo port right near here].  Then several more [not quite as loud] took off.  Didn't hear them yesterday morning.  That first one must have been massive and turned right over the hotel.  Now not sleepy.  Will drink coffee and think of ways to worry the Yankees on the forum.  Drive to airort earlier than planned.  Takes a little over 30 minutes as I go the "back" way.  Bet it is going to be crowded as I was planning to leave hotel at 7 AM.  Will leave earlier and sit and read CTT at airport.
