Just got off the phone - thought I'd call around the local shops to see if anyone has Thomas - you'd think they would.  Thanks, Jim. I've seen him for $129 in CTT. Good excuse not to spend the money yet.

Congratulations to you and your bride on 10 years!Thumbs Up [tup]
I'm sure you have made some nice plans...

Chinese food and what ever else she wants to do is the plan, Doug. I'll buy flowers, a card, and a gift certificate to her favorite store on my way home. I better not screw this up!

Hey Guys! I didn't mean any harm when I mentioned 'Red Necks' it was the way some of you picked on the grit chewers that gave me the wrong impression. Before this I thought Red Necks were a band of WW2 fighter pilots in an old John Wayne Movie.

John B. That would be the "Flying Leathernecks." A great old movie. Most of us southerners don't mind "redneck." It's something of a badge of honor. The term used to be reserved for farmers whose necks were burned by the sun from working outdoors all the time.

A bit warm in Prattville this AM, but temps are supposed to moderate tomorrow after a front comes through, hopefully bringing some rain. Oldest daughter comes into town this evening for fitting of her wedding dress. She still has to select her bridesmaids' dresses.

Mom seems to be improving in physical rehab. She should return home in about two weeks.

Been busy and haven't been keeping up with the posts on the coffee pot. Hope everyone is doing well!

Dr John, I dashed that off in a hurry, I knew it should have read leathernecks.

All I got in Sandbach was a bottle of semi-skimmed and a tomato and mozzerella pannine. Big Mac day Sunday ABW.

Going over to Tampa and Ybor City to see the trolley cars tommorow(9-28-07), don't know what time yet as I may have a job interview in the morning for bus driving.

Replaced the traction tire on my T-1 Reading steam loco, had to take two small bolts out and move the side rod over a little, then the tire acted like it didn't want to go on but I got it on finally.

The rain let up a little today and actually got to see the sun for a couple of hours, also temp went above 80 degrees after lunchtime, not normal temp for this time of year should be 88 or better.

No offense here

Find a Jeff Foxworthy tape or dvd to get an Idea of what a red neck is(not all of them(us) are hillbillys and southerners)

 Leather necks would be marines???

Afternoon all,

Well got rained out digging the footer for the garage addition.  Ran into an existing footer / foundation from a garage that was there 45 years ago.  May just dig down to it and pour on top if it.  The new footer would still start 12" below grade and when you include the slab floor about  20" thick.  It will also have rebar and mesh.  I have a tendency to overbuild sometimes.

Getting rained out is letting me get some homework done and messed with the trains some.  I rewired an old AF #2 transformer, and made one of the clip on test lights as described on pg. 47, # 19 of this month's CTT.  Works pretty neat.

Back to the books.

Fifedog:  Gotcha.Wink [;)]

Watched a bit of 'The War'  last night (this 2:00am)  I think that was the title... It was listed as something else, and then described as 'The War' during commercials.  Interesting how big the fog of war was.  Also interesting bits on the glider squadron.

Ran trains today!  WooHoo!!!!  Kids got the best of me...I needed a break.

Received the Disney Christmas Set w/ chase gondola...  2-YO can predict trains inside before we open the box.  I'm really impressed with this so far.  Cast Loco, and the cars seem to be of standard lionel quality.  Really disappointed with the Walter Disney Christmas set by Lionel.  Thin plastic including Loco, feel really delicate.  General Loco still looks cool.

Tractor finished!  New starter, and celenoid, plus spark plug, and the usual cleaning, sharpening, and greasing.  Ready for the leaf season!

Good Morning All

Much better day yesterday! No Dental work, no big hassles.

Didn't get very involved in the train room, got somewhat distracted on the forum.  In any case will leave a fresh pot and a spot of tea available for the early risers.

Have a Great Day !!

Morning all,

John-I know exactly what you mean by getting confused wha day of the week it is.  Working nights throws your internal clock a curve.  You go in on Tuesday and go home on Wednesday.  Time entry and holiday pay gets split at midnight.  Oh well someone has to keep the process going.

Got about 25' of the footer dug.  Concrete guy will finish for .60 a sq. ft.  Still ahead because of saving $500 that I was going to pay for the ground prep I'v now doing by hand.

Ran trains last night, had the 290 NS 312 SIT SMOKIN'!  Got a tipple set on the bay that I'm bidding on.  Love to have one.  We'll see if I've got deep enough pockets.

All take care and enjoy the cupcakes

I finally got the trains back up and running last night.  I was down and out because I made all of my isolated zones and needed to wire everything back to a central point to connect it all together.  I still need to wire up the switches to not use track power, and hook up my infrared sensors so I can get multiple trains running at the same time again.

I'm still contemplating on moving the whole thing to a dedicated 11'x15' room that I almost have cleaned out.  It could be 11'x21' if I tear down the devider wall that I built.  think it would work better in there, and I could make the track much bigger.

Have a good one!

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 54 degrees. Going up to a cooler, 77, today with sunshine. We had some nasty thunderstorms last night. Lots of lightening.

Today, I am working around the house. Have some cleaning up to do and a few odd jobs to finish. Nothing serious. May run trains later. I want to see how my " new addition " looks , rolling down the tracks. I'll take a picture of it.

Dining car is here and well stocked with fresh cupcakes. It is time for breakfast. Be back later.

Y'all have a great Friday.

Good morning all,

IIABSDISEI with temps rising to the 70s today.  The humidity finally left and made for a beautiful evening of soccer last night.  The boys basically just played in the second half and after spotting the other team a 1-0 in the first hallf, scored 2 goals in three minutes to win 2-1.  "My" soccer girls lost 4-0 on the road.  Both teams end the regular season Saturday with Senior Day.  After the game, I had to go to a funeral home for one of my dad's friends.  Then I got something to eat and did a little bit of work at the YMCA.  Came home and reviewed Lucas' math homework and then helped him with it a little.  Did some eBaying and a little reading and went to bed late.  Today will be busy at work.  Still enjoying the cereal and cinnamon rolls on the dining car from "Points East".  Still can't believe the US lost so badly to Brazil, and saw where the goalie who was replaced for the game really ripped the coach a new one.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

GOOD MORNING,

Kurt- Lets wait till someone is in the shower before we flush the toilets.

We have a sunny but cool morning in the Detroit area lower 70s today, looks that way for at least a week, I'll take it. I've decided to see how many "M" engines still have batteries and just get the rest of the BCRs all at once. Hopefully save a little shipping cost as with all the  stores we have around here no one sells them. Same way with Supersmoke but that company wants almost as much for shipping as the fluid. so I don't have any . I like that old A/F smell.  All you folks have a great friday.   Sir James

Brutus:  The mower belongs to the neighbor lady...I have been taking care of it for a few years for them, (her husband recently died now it's just her) sharpening blades, changing oil, cleaning, and they let me borrow it.  I get yelled at for putting gas in it, but I do anyway.

I don't think it will be a problem if you borrow it, as long as you bring it right back, ...a lot of lawns to mow here.  I'll cover you on the fuel.

Good morning from a sunny and cool Chicago where I am still in the throes of O gauge British oultine-layout-itis brought upon by my simple search for a Thomas the Tank set. Good thing Ace Trains are so expensive. Lots to do at work for once. Who are these fine looking folks? Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Doug, when I began contemplating our layout's look, my original idea was to make it look somewhat British. I was so impressed with the scenery in the Thomas videos, I wanted to emulate it on our layout. I love the windmills, the stone bridges and viaducts, the water towers, etc,...Now that I have decided to redo a large area on that layout, I may once again look into recreating a bit of the empire on our pike. After I have a spot of tea, of course.

That guy in the photo. He's like Quasi Moto in that his name isn't familiar, but his face rings a bell. Is it John?
