csxjohn- I keep my weather equiptment updated, as I replace the can from time to time. a rusty one kind of blends in with the garden.

Tested the TMCC this morning, everything is ok as far as I can tell.right of way needed some small repairs but trains are on the move.  Sun is out 75,humidity88.

Todays news said that the school district knew the flag pole was rusty but did nothing about fixing it.the little girl was killed in April. I knew it wasn't very long ago.  Sir  James

early afternoon to my forum pals!

came down with something Friday night and haven't done much of anything since... except watch PSU take down ND!  OH!  Michigan LOST again!  LOL!!!  First time in College Football History that Michigan and Notre Dame have started the season 0-2... they can't both start the season 0-3 because they play each other this week!

Got the new rims put on the car Friday after work.

Here's the before:

and Here's the after:

Susan went over to her Dad's to drop off his groceries and spend the day stomping grapes!  I am really bummed that I couldn't stomp grapes as it would have been my first time!  Guess there is always next year!

Frank53 - Nice to have you back for a spell... Love seeing the progress on your layout and wish you would post a bit more often!

Buckeye - What did you do to get the Genesis running again?

Chief - Trains running in circles again?  Maybe you need to add some straight sections to get them to run in ovals? Wink [;)]

RT - glad you got the job!

Going to go lay down and rest... tired again...

Laugh [(-D] Gotcha!  Oh, BTW, my SiL and her family moved to NC and they were just going on and on about how much they like it.  I guess their new house has a "bonus" room over the garage.  I suggested a train set, but my BiL said that his son was really too old for that stuff.  I was like - not for the kids, Jon!  I guess I'll have to work on him a little at a time!!!

Nothing much going on - finished off the pizza leftovers and gotta get to work on the basement I guess.  88 - hope you feel better soon!  We're sharing the creeping crud right now.  My wife and I keep passing it back and forth.  She's got asthma though, so she's going to the doc this week to get something to cure it.  Which means, I think, that I won!  Dunce [D)]

TTFN!

HI GIZ,

JIM, don't know if I'll get down there in the near future but when I retire in 5 years just might have to visit the CHIEF?  When did you change your name?

Well the problem with my MTH Niagara was the sensor tape came off.  The adhesive lost its stick and fell off.  I took a piece of scoth tape and taped the one end to the flywheel and wrapped it around and secured it with another piece.  Works good now.  Had to reset engine all is fine.

GO BEARS!!!!!

Good afternoon from a sunny and warm Crystal Lake where there is 1 hour and 23 minutes until the kick-off of the Bears game and the less said about Notre Dame or the White Sox, the better. Had a nice day yesterday helping a buddy paint his living room to prepare to sell his house. Now going to take the youngest to the park. Want to take him to the nearest BPS or Cabellas to look over fishing rods. Maybe next weekend.

Good Sunday afternoon, everyone!  It's sunny and warm in Prattville with a nice breeze and low humidity - a very nice day!

Auburn lost their game to South Florida last night. A lot of depressed folks at church this morning. Wink [;)] At least Bama won!

No time for an afternoon nap, I've got to head back to the church for a meeting, then teach a class. No NFL games on that interest me. Son is getting some clothes washed before driving back to Birmingham. It was nice having him home a couple of days.

Hello all!

Been AWOL for a few days. Working on a big layout. Lots of wiring to do.

Headed for Denver tomorrow. Might be able to stop by Caboose Hobbies on this trip.

Thanks, John

John - we have a highly sophisticated weather rock on a rope. If its wet it is raining. If it is moving, it is windy. Don't know what would happen with snow - after all this is N Texas.

Warm and very muggy here. Had to spread some fungicide and insecticide on the back yard. Brown rings from either fungus or cinch bugs. Too wet here this year.

Trying to rain - cloudy and it has cooled just a bit.

Hope everyone is doing well!

BTW Doug,

Daughter has a new boyfriend - just a couple of piercings and some small "tats" (tattoos for the uninitiated).

Compared to the old boyfriend, this one is a major improvement - came to see her march in the football game Fri night and walked her to the door after their double date last night. A real gentleman.

My wife says he seems nice, but that is what she thought about the last one and then asked what did I think? I said he seemed sincere. She said she thought I said the same thing about the last one. I asked her if she remembered what I said after we met the last boyfriend. She said she was not sure. I reminded her that I said the last boyfriend reminded me of Eddie Haskel (Helloooo Mrs. Cleaver).

So this one just has a couple of "tats." He also has a job and paid for her meal last night (that was a first).

Regards, Roy

Back from a full day of antiquing and picnics. I saw a lot of train stuff at the antique flea market thing, including a wind up Marx tinplate set in great condition for $35. Also saw some Ives, clean Lionel prewar, and some O22 switches.

The kids had a good time at the picnic. Rain held off and the weather was cool and pleasant. Glad that is overwith. Time to watch some football.

Brent,

To get the Genesis running again, I popped off the shell, pushed on every connection, twisted every wire nut and tightened everything that looked like it needed tightening.  Put it on the track, did a reset and power is back to normal.  And then...............

The rear coupler kept opening for no apparent reason.  The pin that plunges into the coupler was loose.  For some reason this pin was not molded with the arm but was "riveted" to the arm.  Since I bought it used, I guess I know what they fixed.  I easily fixed the pin with pliers.

Afternoon all!

We're back.  Not much fishing winds at 35mph+ for most of the week.  They left us a 10' boat with an electric motor...That won't fight the winds.  Hooked one small one, but couldn't get it into the boat.

Highlight of the vacation:  I spent the last evening with my 2-YO running up and down the beach at sunset!  Just us for miles...could see South Manitou Island in the distance.

Hi Frank!

Brutus????  I'll bet there's a story....

Welcome back Roy and Kurt!  Watching The General from tivo - some great train action, but parts do drag a bit.  Laz and Kurt - I had them change it last week.  First day of High School some kids were calling another kid Popeye (had big arms) and I said that this was the first day and why not leave all that gradeschool stuff behind and start over.  They decided my name was Brutus and it stuck all through HS and College.  Could have been worse - could have been Bluto!  Or Flounder!

Started working in the basement, but really not feeling good so took the rest of the day off.  Getting the laundry done and watching tv now - TTFN

Hello everyone,

What a day at work. One of our lovely lower class citizen thru 2 dogs into the Schulkill River at about 9am. Some guys fishing flagged down my Sargent and I heard this over the radio. So my partner and I leaped into action. Well of course the only way to get to the dogs was climbing thru abandon warehouse and onto a collasping pier. Here one dog made it out on its own and decided he wanted to meet me on the pier. A pitbull no less. He took off running and I haven''t seen him since. Well after climbing 50 ft down to the water's edge  to my surprise on of the biggest Rottiwielers I've ever seen was in about 10 ft off water trying to keep his head above water. Thank god 4 guys in a boat came over and helped get him into their boat. Lucky I didn't catch the guy who thru them in cause he was next. Poor dog was in the water for about 45 minutes.

Good news the guys in the boat gave him a nice meal and a warm bed. Has a good home now. For me. Clean uniform all muddy. Busted my knee juping off a collasping pier. And know have a rash from some unknown plant that I climbed over.

But the gratefull puppy made it worth it when I got a thank you slurp on the face from him.

Roy, LOL. I'm a tad concerned the boyfriend is a tad obsessed with my daughter. Fortunately, I have a trunk monkey. See http://www.trunkmonkey.com/

Boy, the Bears sure can't expect to win when they put the ball on the ground four times. Ugh. Whadda year for the Sox, ND and now this... hope the Cubs lose.

Jim A, did you pick up anything train-related on your soiree today?

Good morning all,

It was hot and humid again in SE Indiana.  They keep saying it will cool off, but I will believe it when I see it.  A disappointing day in the IRL today as Manning dropped out early and the usual suspects dominated the race.  Franchitti won the race and the title.  There was cereal and donuts on the dining car this morning.  I did go out to the YMCA and did a half hour on the track.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Evenin' All.

I hope the Chargers look better in the future, heckuva defensive struggle. If it weren't for the Bear turnovers they'd probably won 3 to 0. Big Smile [:D] Gotta hope for the Chargers, it looks as though the Padres are gonna go down the dumper. They just can't hit, period.

Got a nice pork butt slow cookin for some pulled pork sandwiches for dinner. Just put the G trains away for the nite, got a LGB steam sounds boxcar coming this week to pull behind the little 0-4-0. Now I need to install a smoke upgrade and that one will be done.

Just home from spending the weekend in Grand Island, NE with my brother's family and their grandchildren, great fun. Also enjoyed seeing so many trains this weekend, lots and lots of working freight lines in that area.

Doug--
Cedar Falls is where my oldest son lives and teaches, also home of the UNI Panthers but MORE importantly it's the home of a fabulous train store, Caboose Stop Hobbies. It's very old school and I love it, super knowledegable owners and huge inventories, it's not an official visit to Cedar Falls without a stop at that store. Show up on a Saturday morning late and they will treat you to pizza and train videos. You owe it to yourself to make that trip, maybe 5+ hours from Chicago.

I have a picture of the Pup but I have to figure out how to download it from my phone. I hate technoligy.

good evening to all,-------PhilaKnight, good deed for the day. going back a page,a rock on a stone sounds exspensive and I do use a name brand coffee can. Can you hang the rock by the window so you can see it without going out? I don't think it's perfected yet, windy day could be tricky.

I watched the Det. Lions win today, could be only time this season and I saw it. wow. Well its bedtime I'll check on you late niters in the morning.    Sir James

Buckeye:  We were in Empire for a week, just south of the dunes; Lake Michigan beach (front yard) South Bar Lake (backyard).  We didn't get out much with the two little ones.  Mostly beach, and a little boating.  Heard great things about Boon's (Boondocks) in Glen Arbor.

Brutus:  I thought of the roman senator Marcus Brutus, thought to be a lead in Caesar's assination.  Great story though...hindsite would encourage Popeye to pummel the namecallers.  Haegk haegk haegk haegk.

Anyone have any Aristocraft Trains??   I saw the 'Lil' Critter Set' in CTT, but didn't know about the company.
