Hey Brent, you have the high milage cars (and that in my opinion, is a good thing!) try some Techron.  I've used in my customer's cars and let me tell you that stuff really works!!!

It's cleared up miss fire codes and fuel milage has gotten better.  I've used it in the racer/streeter I've built & works well there too!

I can't argue with that. I always did like the 1957 Plymouth Sport Fury.

Chief:  Bark!  Barkbarkbarkbarkbark!  Woof?  Bark!  Wink [;)]Laugh [(-D]

Sir James, I'll bet that Jim A and FifeDOG could come up with some uses for Olive Oil that would get them BANNED!  Or at least bring down the soapy wrath of Blueberry! Wink [;)]

Dr. John - I've got a 2005 Colorado 4 door Crew Cab.  It's okay.  Pretty good mileage to and from work (highway driving) - about 20 to 21 MPG.  Town driving is a lot lower though - maybe about 17 MPG?  Sometimes less, depends on whether I've got 1000 pounds of rock in the back or not!  Shock [:O]

CSXT30 - Way got go, those things are cool!  Ron (who hopes to be back at work next week, thanks for the prayers) got one for a trip to Gettysburg and let his wife drive - they made it!  Apparently this is the Gold Standard as she usually waits until he's taking a nap and then gets lost by like an entire state or something?!  Luckily, neither of them read this forum, so I can tell tales.

Still haven't gotten my shipment from Trainz that they said they shipped last week.  If it doesn't show by Saturday, I'll have to get in touch with them....  Sad [:(]

88 - sounds like some cool GEAR, you'll have to post some pics for us!

Rained again today - off and on all day.  Working OT Saturday, 5 hours.  Moving to a different "team" on 10/1.  Should be interesting.  OTOH, all change is BAD.  Nothing much going on here, so TTFN!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

evening, we have four dodge hemi pickups in the family but i am not one of them. I have a Ranger on a heavy duty chassis designed for towing. it's mileage is Thumbs down. just to make things easier gas is $3.29 reg.reason? they don't want to produce more gas until after sept.15 when the winter gas is cheaper to make.

I didn't make it to the trains today but I did get the recalled wire harness to the speed control replaced on that Ranger today, that is progress.  and I voted for cover picture #2.

Brutus- you are refering to olive oil as a engine lube, right?                                         Sir James

Bimmers already require full synthetic motor oil.  I use the 15,000 miles stuff (think it is either Mobile or Castrol), the Toyota Solara gets a high mileage partial synthetic blend by Quaker State.  The Bimmers get redone every 10,000 and the Solara every 7,500.  The Solara has never run this good.  Susan's 325 runs very smooth, mine is the problem child... and of course it is my car so Susan is always giving me a hard time about it... she told me the other day I should just trade it in on a truck... no way!  Once it is fixed it will last another 150,000 miles easy and I really want to get 3 more years out of it... if it goes 150,000 I can squeeze 4 out of it and not have to loose money on the trade in (long story)... we'll see... I kinda look forward to seeing how long this car will go... maybe I can give it to my first born when they turn 16!  LOL!!!!

OK, who started all this car repair stuff. Got back from the grocery and my trucks cooling system is squirting water. Sad [:(] I guess it is time to get really serious about finding a new one, but dang it's only 27 years old and held together with rust. Sigh [sigh]

Don, Are you going to take your El Camino over to the Route 66 Rendezvous in San Berdoo for the cruise ?

Got a brainstorm lastnite, has anybody ever tried to use an MTH loco with the CD/Tape input for oh lets say a Halloween Layout ? With some of the halloween/sound effect CD's that are available that would be a real hoot to put on the layout. Clown [:o)]

Gotta change the tone of the thread, I cant afford any more car repairs for awhile.  This whole thing, started with Brents refrigerator.  In the past 6 weeks, Washer, Dryer, Windshield, Car window regulator, Front Brakes, Axle, Rear Brakes, and more.

Needless to say the train stuff doesn't count..

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 64 degrees. Going up to 88 today, with sunshine. Some rain, maybe later tonite.

Today is busy. I have some errands to run and then a few phone calls to make. Then, I have a couple of "fix it" things to attend to, around the house. It all comes at once. Maybe, I can take an hour and run trains later this afternoon. That would be nice.

Well, Dining Car is here and it's time for  breakfast . Later

Y'all have a great Friday.

Good morning all,

It is raining in SE Indiana with temps in the 80s today.  For once last night ended, with both teams winning.  The boys won fairly easily after spotting the other team an early lead, 4-1.  The girls were in a nailbiter, missing several scoring opportunities before finally converting a score and then hanging on for a 1-0 win.  I talked to the coaches about subbing more players, and they had their reasons, but.....  I went to the YMCA for some weights and I did get a little track time.  Lucas finally told us some of school grades.  One is a little disappointing, but one is a very pleasant surprise.  Hopefully I can work with him in the area he needs help.  Tomorrow the girls have an early road game close to home and then I ref a game in the afternoon.  Sunday is the end of the IRL season, which should have a close race for the championship.  The dining car was early from "Points East" today.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Morning everyone, a quick stop by before I have to drop daughter off at sitters and go in for  a late case.

Nick, Spain is great!  Hope you had a wonderful time.  So many beautiful scenery.  The cathedral in Toledo is stunning.

Jason, Welcome, you will find this to be a good crowd, even if a lot of them drive Chevy's.

Rick, Dodge, I would only want an old Power Wagon., now those were way cool.  When I worked at my dad's business working on trucks, etc, the dodge/chrystlers seemed to have the weakest metal.  When installing light bars on emergency vehicles, if it was a Ford or GMC, you had to use a good drill bit and it took some effort to drill a hole.  When it came to Chrystlers/dodge, you could just pierce the metal with a good push.

Hope everyone has a great day.
Dennis

Doug,

I'm not old enough, er, the car is not old enough.  I believe it is for 1974 and earlier ours is 87.

Also don't forget the Rail Days at Perris Train Museum coming up the same weekend.

Morning all

The reason I went with a diesel truck was dependibility and economy.  My 6.5 liter turbo diesel 2500 has delivered that and more.  I regularly get 19-21 mpg and on the open road 22-24 is the norm.  I am pretty obsessive compulsive with the mileage so I track it all the time, so you can go to the bank with the milage numbers.  Not bad for a truck that weighs 5800 pounds. Shock [:O] Even pulling the camper (10500#) I can get 12 to 14 mpg)

One of the mods I did was switch all fluids to synthetic.  After doing a lot of research I decided to use Amsoil fluids.  I could not find a dealer so I became one myself.  I do sell the oil to others for cost, because I'm not interested in being a dealer as such.  All my vehicles run on Amsoil synthetics.  Each vehicle saw at least a 1 mpg increase.  I am sold on the stuff and highly reccomend it.  Man, I hope that doesn't sound like a commercial.

Vacation oficially started today!  Still have grandkids.  Got them clean and fed and they are playing now.  I'll clean house after they leave.  Then pack for GlacierBig Smile [:D]

Check back later

Good morning from a windy, grey and cool Crystal Lake where fall has suddenly arrived - supposed to be only 70 today. Got a buddy picking me up in a few minutes to go to the eye doc - you sure know who friends are when you need a favor like this... Welcome Jason!! Big HS football game tonight - the daughter is all green and gold - the middle boy wants to go too. He'll be a frosh next year. The bride talked me down from the ledge about the daughter's clothes last night - I don't deserve her!

Sorry for all the mechanical difficulties. Still think fondly of my '73 Dodge Charger SE

Well went for interview this am and as long as something don't go crazy with drug test (only thing maybe my meds but give them a list should correct that ) I know have a job not best paying but at least a job I'll basicly fry chicken from 9 am to 6 PM but they were inpressed with the knowalege I have in a grocery store that I can just about be put any where and I can do the job so in a pinch they have a pinch hitter you might say. They were impressed that I know cake decorating also. (hard to find them) Did state that with my qualifcations they could start me at the rate I mentioned (this area has low hire rate) and we could discuss more at a later date after I've been here a while and see how we all do together. Congrats RT!

Being a 'jack of all trades, master of none' does have its advantages at times.  This is why I didn't pigeon hole myself in IT with just knowing one programming language. Afternoon.  Been in town meeting since early this AM.  Lunch now and then train work.  Synthetic oils, I have been using in everything for years.  Outboard, weedeater, leafblower, lawnmower, farm tractor, chainsaw and vehicles.  We ran a test on Amsoil in our courier vans.  60,000 miles and no oil change.  Changed the filter and added a quart every 5K.  Sent oil to lab.  Lab said don't change yet.  We did not go with it as it was too expensive as we got oil and fliters dirt cheap on State Contract.  I believe in it.  SLICK!!!  Cuts down on friction which reduces heat which reduces wear.  Now for lunch.  Later.

Congrats on job RT. I worked the deli counter for 5 years. Fried chix for 4 years  We did not have a big following so they decided to stop selling it after 4 years. Prefered that over slicing deli meat, too many picky people.  Just picked up a Lionel Lehigh Valley GP-9 $80.00 brand new never run. Just have to swap the MPC era power truck out for a post war Magna traction truck Now I can tripple head a coal train of 40 LV hoppers.

GOOD AFTERNOON to ALL,

RT- hope the job works out for you.

Allstate adjuster called this AM, and if the list reaches me as stated, he is paying me for full value less deductable. Of course these new tv's cost a lot more than the crt type. So I got a new tv but I liked my two year old magnavox.

I'm going to put back my three foot bridge and the RR will be back in service.

75 today, storms expected later, that I could do without right now.

Enjoy your fri afternoon and smile all the way home from work.        Sir James

Hi everyone !!

Forgot to say Sign - Welcome [#welcome] Jason to the Coffee Pot !! Smile [:)]

RT : you're making progress !!  One job usually leads to another or better one but you have to get off that semi-train restriction !! Laugh [(-D]

James : sounds like you're getting all fixed back up too now !! I'm hoping you someday can put a picture of your layout on !!  My layout also goes right by the swith or circuit breaker panel too. I have to make sure not to park a train there cause sometimes the breaker kicks in the kitchen & wife has to come down & flip it back on !! I keep telling her not to use the toaster & microwave & that stuff !! Laugh [(-D] Oh, she really loves my duck under too !! Laugh [(-D]

I used to use Amzoil too !  The two cycle application in my gas powered Extra 300 R/C plane !! Very good verticle performance & a really nice smoke system !!

Well, glad it's Friday !!

Hope everyone has a nice day !!

Thanks, John

Jim F & Dennis- Had a good time. Stayed in a villa on a golf course about 15Km outside Mercia. Played about 5 rounds of golf during our stay. Thats more than I have played in the last 4 years! Visited a friend who owns a penthouse apartment on a Polaris World resort nearby. Stunning view over the 18th hole. But not my cup of tea. I enjoy the odd game of golf with friends but I prefer my hobbies of Classic cars and Toy trainsWink [;)]

Saw some intresting narrow gauge tracks on a trip out to La Manga, great scenery it would make a good subject for a model. Didn't get chance to take pic.

Hope to resume work on first fix wiring on the gamesroom and painting the garage when work allows.

Have a good weekend all
