VT is a real tragedy.  Not to seem insensitive but I am sure certain groups and CBS will be blaming the NRA.

Now on brown moutnains and NS.  Would Buckeye and Jim A look carefully at the number 2 diesel in the consist.  Looks like white stripes on the nose.  Might be a stallion hidden by the UP diesel.  Maybe you two can help. Question [?]Whistling [:-^]

Back from Mended Hearts meeting in Raleigh at Rex Hospital.  Stopped and got a cup of coffee [regular] and a donut [that is good for the heart].  Now for strawberry [fresh] shortcake. Wink [;)]

Prayers for those at VT and for Julia and all our friends and family.  Nice sunny day in STL with a temp around 70!  Our friend's aunt died over the weekend.  They went down south around Sikeston for the wake and funeral then to Arkansas for the burial there.  Another friend stayed with their kids last night, then my wife picked them up from school and scouts and we handed them off to their aunt and uncle.  I'm not sure if they told them yet what's going on, so kept my mouth shut.  My back is killing me from standing on ladders all day yesterday Sigh [sigh]

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

It's been some weekend for weather. Hope those of you still getting hit on the east coast fare okay. We had no damage here, just a lost of wind rain and cold weather. Much nicer today - sunny and warmer, back into the 60's. Still windy but not bad.

The Williams catalog arrived today. I'm eyeing the scale Hudson on page 74. Anyone have one of these? Is there an after-market sound board available (beyond the stock bell and whistle?).

Hope this answers your question.  Williams does not offer any sound options.

John - Yes! That's what I was looking for. Thank you for the link. I vaguely remembered these boards but could not remember the manufacturer.

Correction williams does offer a horn/bell for diesels and a whistle / bell for steam . I have an engine where williams use to offer diesel sound in it but the board sometimes works and sometimes not or all crackle sounding think thats why they got away from it. When I talked to them and mentioned it the guy said wow that is an old engine we don't offer that any more. I hope in the furture to goto Digital Dynamics and get both railsound and trainmaster comand control for that engine and probally my Southern U36B's

Good afternoon everyone,

It was a slow and soggy day here. I looked out the window to snow this morning, and when I went outside I almost slipped down the drive way because there was slush all over.

Regarding the VT situation, I found out about it when I got off the bus when I came home. My cousin goes there, but she was lucky enough to be on the other side of the campus at the time. We don't know right now if any of her friends were involved, this would be bad because she lost someone close to her a few weeks ago.

Jim A, prayers for your daughter.

I didn't hear about it till I got off work at 3. Truly a most tragic thing.  Glad to hear Allen is ok too.

Hoping Jim's daughter does well tomorrow.

Thanks, John

Tragedy.  Dave, let your daughter know that they were on lockdown and did not let the kids out for some time.  She may want to check now as I believe it is over.

For those who are fans of #20, I stopped in the post office today and noticed that they have a big picture with stamp, etc. on #20.  You may want to stop by your local P.O.

Still quite windy, but not nearly as cold or as bad as yesterday.  We had some wind shear that twisted some trees half way up and did some havoc on utility lines, but otherwise not so bad.  I was able to fix a few tree problems, hopefully it will keep.

I sent off the money for the Wabash Hudson.  I will keep an eye out for it, but I doubt I will be doing any more purchases for a while.  Want to stay in good graces with the wife.  They can make your life pretty misserable if they want to.

Chief, we had about 7" of rain, but the ground was so dry, that the lakes dried up pretty quickly.

Dennis

Good afternoon,

Rain about over here, we got a total of 2.2" so far.  Pretty windy but no local damage that I know of.  The Southeast corner of Lancaster County had it the worst.  Pictures on TV of a greenhouse on an Amish farm that was destroyed by the wind.  Amtrak lost power to the catenary on the Harrisburg - Philadelphia line and had to bring in diesels to keep the trains running.

Jim, Ours prayers go out for Julia.  That brings back memories of spending the day at the hospital with my youngest daughter when she had her tonsils out.  She was about 4 or 5 can't remember exactly.

Just finished running the track cleaning car on the rest of the layout.

Take care,

I believe Allan Miller handles or edits publications and such at Virginia Tech. He was probably in an Administrative Building rather than in a Dorm or Classroom Building.

Awful tragedy.

I would enjoy watching the post racing activities as well,  "What you say, That's just race'ng man!"   vs   "I thing it was unsportsman like, and will be registering a protest."

Fife,
Would love to see that, and NASCAR pass a rule that says 'When you run in the Nextel Series, you can not run in the Busche Series'... The problem with running Saturday in NASCAR then Sunday in Open Wheel, is the schedules... imagine having to run in Charlotte on Saturday, hop on a plane at 8pm, fly to California, and run a race in Open Wheel - that would be killer - not to mention if the Open Wheel race is overseas... OUCH!

I'd be asleep by lap 4 in the Open Wheel race... the drivers would get whipped too quick... what I would rather see is NASCAR go back to the multiple races per week series (like what they did back in the 60's and 70's).  AND go back to REAL cars!  What the heck is with this 'everyone has to start from an even playing field'?  It takes away the engineering of each manufacturer, differences in engines (being built to the aerodynamics of the car), the suspensions, etc.
