Morning all.  Still rather gray and overcast in G'burg.  Not warm and sunny like it was in Buckeyeland, then again any day above freezing with no snowhizo is a pretty day there.  Looks like we might get wet in York tomorrow.  Friday and Saturday are looking more promising.

Glad to hear Julia is on the road to recovery after surgery.  It is so tough when the little ones are sick and have to have surgery of any kind.  They sure bounce back faster than us old geezers though.

Today is last day of work before TCA Meet. Appropriately it is torturous all day professional development.  I am stoking up with lots of coffee this AM to keep the old eyelids from dozing off.  This is the fourth training we have had with this pair of presenters in the last two years and it really isn't that bad.  They get us up and moving throughout the day.  I'd like to figure out a gig like that where you travel the country all expenses paid and get paid a couple of thousand a day and only work 5 or 6 days a month.

Have a good day.

Jim, don't worry about missing your friends mother's funeral, I am sure he will understand.  Besides, being there after the crowd leaves, that is when they need friends the most.  After the shock wears off and they really miss their loved ones, that is a critical time in the grieving process.  I think Dr. John would be better at this, but unfortunately, I have been exposed to a lot of death over the years.

Brent, you are correct in that the OSU driver was going well below the  speed limit.  Of course, he did not use his turn signal either.....but when he turned and I saw the OSU sign, I know he just doesn't know any betterWhistling [:-^].  Reminds one of that country song, "Here's Your Sign".

Good news on Julia, hope she continues well.  Wonder what happened to John Baker and Thor?!  No posts in a while from these kind gents.  Overcast tonight, so didn't mow the lawn.  Now it is supposed to rain tomorrow, so maybe get it done Thursday.  I just found out today that a friend's mom died last Thursday and the funeral was last Saturday.  Another friend was supposed to call me, but forgot.Sigh [sigh]  His mom wasn't feeling well and went to the doctor only to find out she had advanced cancer.  She had a quick operation on her spine to relieve pressure, but after that it was just medicine to relieve pain.  She had time to say goodbye before the medicine got too strong, and that is a real blessing, but they wouldn't give her more meds at the end because they were bad for her kidneys!?  Dunce [D)]  Sometimes you just want want to hand somebody a big SIGN, you know?

Evening All,

So glad to hear Julia is doing well.  She has had a rough row lately and so I'm sure her health will take a turn for the better now.

Beautiful in Southern Ohio today.  Warm and sunny.  You can almost see the grass grow!  Man the Ohio is really high.  Low lying areas are going to get flooded.

A friend of mine put taxes into perspectave for me, be thankful for the income that you have to pay taxe.

Laz

I really like your strip mine.  IT really brings back memories.  Lots of strip mines around here.  They make great places to fish and swim.

Prayers for all who need them and thanks for God answers all prayers

Afternoon All....

Finally finished & mailed all the Censored [censored] Censored [censored] state and federal taxes. Grumpy [|(] If you could see me you'd notice I'm sitting kinda funny, they both took quite a bite. Angry [:(!]

A very belated congrats to the Chief, now the fun begins. It's called "Parental Revenge", spoil the heck out of them and send them home to their parents. Big Smile [:D]

Glad to hear everything went well with Julia.

Got a special request for the Yorkies. I have been looking for a Lionel Rock Island GP-7, #6-28536. It appears that these are getting a little hard to find at a reasonable price. Unfortunately I have been sniped on the last couple that I have bid on at various auction sites. If you happen to see any that you deem reasonable get the sellers info if you would please. I have one but I would like to get another to lash up with a Williams dummy in between.

Jim, great news about Julia.

So we are supposed to be impressed that there are two law-abiding Buckeyes? From recent reports there are a few coming out of tOSU that have a hard time respecting and abiding by the rules set forth by the NCAA! Wink [;)]

Sounds to me like he was driving UNDER the speed limit and thereby hindering the flow of traffic and therefore WAS NOT adibing by the law! Wink [;)]

LOL!  j/k Buckeye - I'm feeling rilled up because of all this RADON I've been inhalling!

Jim.....Glad to hear that Julia is doing fine.

Taking a break. Mowed side lot. Probably have to mow the big sections this weekend. Took down the Christmas lights from 10 trees. It's a lot easier, than putting them up. Beautiful day. Sunny and 70.

Jim, hope Julia is doing well.  Hate to hear about kids having surgery, but if it helps her then it is a good thing!  Just make sure you paint that tender real good and get it whistling! <It was whistling when I last had it on the tracks - honestly>

Chief and Doug - thanks for the well wishes!  Yes it has been a long haul, and it's not quite over yet... still can't move for 60 days and then we have to close on our current house... and get the RADON mitigated (still think it is a total joke)...

I do hope to have some time to get to wiring the layout.  Have a few more loops to do and then we start base paint and scenery. I have to catch up with the Chief and get some mountains.

Jim, glad for the good news regarding Julia.  Hope her recovery is smooth.

Good morning from a hazy and warmish Chicago where I am back in the office for my long day complete with class tonight.

Brent, congrats on the pending closing - it's been a long haul.

Mike C, I could never master that behind-foot-dribble - I'll bet that came as a surprise to your opposite.

Good news on Julia; without adenoids, she should be much better.

Chief, there is a lot of open-pit gravel mining in our county - they all used to be rail-served by their own lines as well as the C&NW.  That photo looks just like some of the remaining big pits. (they're rapidly turning into subdivisions)

Julia report.  My cell just gave me a voice mail as I was about to dial Jim [why it did not ring and went to VM, only Alltel knows].  Jim says Julia is out of surgery and seems to be doing fine.  I'm still going to call.

Morning.  Remembering Julia.  Will call Jim's cell in a few.  On the second unit in the photo, the CSX tash crawls out of the dumpster with comments. Shock [:O]Wink [;)]  Just can't take the heat. Laugh [(-D]  Think it is time to crank the tractor and disk the garden spot.  Then the hard part.  Shoveling big long beds.  I plant everything in beds except corn and onions.  Planted corn yesterday. Actually the beds are not too bad as the disk softens things up, then I just shovel out a shallow walkway and then rake them smooth.  Got to get plants in the ground as they have gotten too leggy in the greenhouse.  Guys going to York, rush in and find out when Lionel is shipping the Big Boy with TMCCII and then rush to computer and post.  Brent, good luck on the house thing.  Got my first ever Weaver box car yesterday.  Pretty good job they do.  Time for cinnamon bun with pecan bits[with butter melted on top] and coffee.  Later.

Good Morning,

It's raining and cool here in Denver today.  Regarding Chief's photo....with all due respect....I don't believe the second locomotive is an NS.  I believe this is a BNSF cream paint scheme.  I see these here in Denver from time to time.

Mornin' boys.  Still chillySad [:(].

Don't feel much like stirring the pot today...

...but on second thought---CHIEF , that second unit appears to be a SD70 BNSF unit in grinstein green and creme striping.  That was BN livery just prior to merger.  Good looking, but definitely not NS.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny, clear 38 degrees. Going up to 58 today, with sunshine. That is good. It's time to bring in Spring.

Today, I have a few errands to run and then I will spend some time outside, enjoying the sun. Spent a little time in train room, yesterday, working on the passenger station and area around it.  Have a few ideas to put in place. GG-1 is having a good time running on the new, upper level, with rear pantograph up, all the way. Looks great.

Jim...Good luck, today, to Julia. Prayers going out.

Buckeye... I re-posted on the other thread. Found picture.

Well, the Dining Car has arrived from " points east ". Warmed up donuts. Bowl of Cheerios. Breakfast.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Chief,
Certainly you aren't trying to pass a strip mining operation off as a mountain range?!?! Confused [%-)]

But, yes you are correct, that is a Norfolk Southern loco... notice though how they had to have a BNSF engine in front - keeps the Norfolk Southern engines from getting lost. Cool [8D]Shock [:O]

York is only 3 days away and I'm finding that I can't wait... Sad [:(]

HOUSE CLOSING TONIGHT!!!!! Approve [^] Only 60 days till move in day! Disapprove [V] 60 days is far too long to wait! Then it will be a week or two before construction on the layout begins... I have some real thinking to do because I'm not sold on FasTrack as the solution... really like the looks of the Gargraves, but I dunno... I like the old tubular track as well, but I can't stand having to pull pins to make my curves go the other direction...

I need Dinner [dinner]... where's the dining car?

Good morning all,

It is cool but sunny with temps warming to the 70s in SE Indiana today.  Doug, thank you for the compliment.  The situation at VT is terrible.  I really feel sorry for all involved.  I am glad our Allan Miller is ok.

On a much lighter note, I did get to play indoor soccer last night.  I did my first behind the foot dribble in a game situation.  I had been working on it and I think I surprised a few people (including myself).  Maybe an old dog can learn new tricks :-)  "Points East" is in for another treat today on the dining car as donuts once again were on the menu.  OK, they are a couple of days old, but warm them up in the microwave and they are almost like fresh-baked.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
