Chief, pretty soon you can teach Carter to take care of the squirrels with you
Dennis and Dr. John and Buckeye, thanks for the advice, you guys have wisdom.
Got an offsite team meeting today. Ate at Maggie O'Briens near Union Station - about 1/4 mile walk from the office. I had the Reuben sandwich and a Dt Pepsi - $12! It was okay, but I prefer regular Reubens with 1000 Island dressing and this had other stuff on it. Got some horseradish on the side, not as good as my uncle makes up in Maclean IL, but it helped the sandwich a lot. No rain, so I got the lawn mowed. Varmints are sneaking up on me again. Need to get some mole traps. I thought about poison, but some neighbors around here have cats that roam outside and I don't want to take innocent pets out. Thanks for all the great emails guys. I need ot get on my desktop more often so I can download and forward stuff myself.
OH YEAH! Hey, I got my new Lionel Halloween car today (preordered): Graves Mortuary Formaldehyde Tank Car! VERY nice in orange and black. I sorta wish I had bought more of them. Don't know if I could sneak it past my wife right now, esp as I'm going to pre-order the Hogwarts Express and then tell her about that -- Sequence is KEY! I'm learning as I go, boys!
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Dead Dug larype all day. Planted it back at the pond. Put up two treat poles to mark the boat launch and one for tying up. Went to Transportation meeting. I even missed lunch. Wife had home made spaghetti waiting. Now for some trains. Did not get garden beds shoveled. Tomorrow I guess. Had put some of the greenhouse plants under the tractor shed to condition them before planting. A cucumber plant had drooped. Looked and it was brused by little squirrel foot prints. Time to SHOOT squirrels again.
Doug M., we use grants to get our parks done. Your town should find a state and maybe federal grant or two.

Greetings,
Just returned from the tour of MTH and the Tony Lash layout.
Chief, Be sure to check page 118 of the 2007, Volume 2 MTH catalog. Inside info!
Jim, Good to see Julia is doing so well.
Doug, You will want to check out the trollies in the new MTH catalog. Several new ones.
York starts tomorrow. Will be looking for Dennis's Divco.
Take Care,
Good Evening Everyone !! Still cold up here in the northeast corner of Buckeyeland .
Glad Jim's daughter did so well !!
Well, sure hope everyone has nice time at York & a safe trip !! I think, I'll get there someday !!
Saw the new Atlas steamer I have been waiting for on NJALs post, now I'm really getting excited !!
Oh, & don't forget Dennis's CTT Divco !! That will be like looking for a needle in the haystack !! Sure hope he gets one, though !!
All have a nice evening !!
Thanks, John
Evening all,
Jim, great about Julia. She will up into a heartbreaker!
Beautiful today, warm sunny and clear. Cut grass today, third or fourth time. I am amazed at the difference in the Ohio Weather. In Southern Ohio we're easily two weeks ahead of the folks in midstate like Buckeye. I've got blossems on the apple trees and already harvested a couple meals of asperagas.
Hope you guys have a good time at York. Maybe in a couple of years I can go. Not much on the train front for the past few days. Classes start up this weekend and alread have assignments. I am awaiting the loading platform and operating car I got on ebay. Seller has shipped so it should be any day.
All tack care and safe travels
Jim

Hey guys, please don't forget about my request for a Divco CTT truck, if you see one, I would like to buy it (if under say $30.00). If Bob Keller has his, perhaps one of you could draw his attention, while another swipes the truck Just kidding, please don't call me for bail, I want one, but on the up and up. Hope you "Yorkies" have fun and please think about all the rest of us who can neither go to york, nor see photos from there.

What's wrong with Barney? http://www.barneyfife.com/
Re our town's Vulcan Lakes - named after the gravel company and used to have rail access and a little tank engine on a stele in front of the property; the city got it on a handshake agreement in exchange for letting the company mine their way through a through street that used to run north of the property. It is very deep and full of fish - all posted no fishing unfortunately. They would love to do as everyone suggests (except for power boats) but can't figure out how to pay for it without giving it up to a taxing district or developer. The latest scheme is to work out some sort of minimal access and charge a whopping usage fee. Unfortunately, the handshake didn't include finishing off the area - so the water is eroding all the perimeter which is deep and steep and expensive allegedly to shore up. This was a big deal in yesterday's mayoral election. The saga continues - I pass it every day.

Mornin' boys. Can't stay long. Gotta get out and cut the grass before it rains, and I have to go to work this afternoon. (Lotsa O.T. to help defray my spending on Friday!)
mitchelr - I understand you can have that kinda schedule selling battery chargers to fishermen...
jaabat - Glad to read your good news---makes my problems seem petty. On the flip side, thanks for posting that hideous picture; everytime you do my little girl puts off talking about DisneyWorld for at least 4 weeks...
88 - Ahhhh, the joys of hearing the basketball bouncing thud for hours on end. Better sound-proof that trainroom.
Chief - you'll be happy to know that I made it back from WV without incident. However, those small town "Barneys" are notorious for stopping cars for being from out of state...
Laz57 - you missed one there...

All from a guy who is whinning about rains and flooding. Yanks in New England sure are hardheaded. DON'T FOOL WITH MOTHER NATURE OR THE CHIEF.
cnw1995 wrote:Good morning from a sunny and cold Chicago. Supposed to warm up this weekend - hope so. The lawn looks dead. Of course a year's worth of kids running on it will mash it flat. I'd rather have that than a good looking lawn - too bad for the neighbors. Great to hear about Julia. This is our very own water-filled gravel pit our town has been grappling with what to do with it for the past five years - allegedly the cleanest water in this part of the state.

LOL.

Morning all. Pretty day. Got area Transportation Meeting this afternoon at 4. Got to shovel beds in agraden and I have a truck load of larype [sp] to haul to the pond and put along the bank. I dug it up yesterday afternoon after Pam got home. She is starting a new hosta bed there.
Buckeye, my grass needs mowing too [for the 4th time].
Brent, guess all went well with the house thing. You will be buying curtains and etc instead of TRAINS.
Fife, go bark up a tree. Understand you got arrested. Could not help but "stop" at every hydrant in town.

Good morning from a sunny and clear Buckeyeland. I hear on good authority that the sharp corner of Ohio is still cold and cloudy.
IT MUST BE SPRING! I mowed the grass last night for the first time this year. This is about three weeks later than normal for Central Ohio. The individual blades of grass were not thick and wide but were spase and thin due to the abnormally cold weather.
Jim, glad to see Julia smiling and I bet you are too!
I didn't swim in old strip mine pits, but one of the greatest places to swim was a very old gravel pit that was spring fed. Really clear and cold water. Went scuba diving there once and I could see the big bass roaming the deepest parts of the pit.
Have a leak around the chimmney with water showing up in the crawl space beneath the house. We have never had water in the basement. Either a roof flashing is damaged or a crack in the brick.
Have a good day and we will see you down the tracks,
Laz, I used to swim in a quarry in NW Jersey. It was a lot of fun. We don't have any such operations down this way. We still find time to have plenty of fun, but these days it takes too long to get over it.
Jim, glad Julia is doing so well. Hope she continues to progress and that y'all can eat plenty of ice cream together.
Got word that my Wabash Hudson should be here Monday. I can hardly wait. I must admit a bit of trepidation in this purchase. I would much prefer dealing with people I know, or getting to view the product prior to sending off money. Anyway, Lord willing, I will have my last addition for a while. I did get a bunch of diecast cars and trucks from Asheville Diecast. Good prices and nice product.
Hope everyone has a great day.
Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a cloudy 37 degrees. Going up to a partly cloudy, 58 today. It was really a beautiful day, yesterday. Needs to warm up more.
Today, we are driving up to Cambridge, for the weekly grocery shopping. Wife has a routine doctor appointment. It will be a busy day. Don't think I'll get any train time in, today. Maybe tomorrow.
Glad to hear that Julia is doing good.
Dining car has arrived. Time for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Wednesday.
Chuck
Good morning all,
Especially Jim (jaabat). I was glad to hear the good news about Julia. It is sunny (for now), but not as warm as yesterday with rain moving in tonight in SE Indiana and temps in the 50s. I cleaned gutters out again last night (pesky maple pods), and went to the YMCA. Has anybody heard what is in the new MTH Tinplate Catalog? I was kind of hoping to hear they were making some Ives 1770 series freight cars. I do not know much else. No donuts for the dining car today as it heads to "Points East". I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
HI GIZ,
40 and cloudy today to get to 49?
JAABAT, glad to here alls well with your daughter.
STURGON FISH, I grew up in the strip mines in Pa. Did lots o swimming in the pits and still do lots of deer hunting there. Great place to go shooting. Lots o junk. We even use to play bowling for junk, rolling down old tires to see what we can nock over.
1 more day then YORK.
Good morning from a water-logged New England!
Once again we find ourselves with too much rain for the ground to absorb here. Flooding is a problem with many roads, homes, and businesses washed out or under water...
Julia came through like a champ yesterday! I was amazed at how well her recovery went. She only had a slight sore throat, but no other problems after her surgery. Once again, my little girl impressed me with her poise and courage. Sincere thanks to all my good friends on this forum for remembering Julia in your prayers!
I've got another post war locomotive sitting on my desk today awaiting a "freshening up". The two domes need to be sanded and repainted, along with some chips on the sides.
My prayers go out to the VT families. What is this world coming too?
