Sturgeon-Phish - There are tons of campgrounds in Gettysburg which is only about 30-40 minutes away.  In addition, campers are allowed on the Fairgrounds.  I think the brocuhure said it was $35 a night to camp there.  Mostly motorhomes but I did see a few trailers and pop-ups/

Evening all

Just got home from classes in Columbus.  Wiped out.  Hopefully a quiet evening ahead.  Some training????

It has been beautiful in Southern Ohio!  Warm and sunny.  The Ohio is beginning to lower.  Maybe in a few weeks the cats on the bar will be ready!  Looking forward to taking the grandkids fishing.  I hope they like it better than their mother did!  She didn't like the thought of worms on hooks.  I'm probably more patient now than I was 20+ years ago.

Sounds like you are having a great time in York.  When I complete deaconate classes (if?) I'd love to join you all.  Maybe in 2009!  Are there any campgrounds nearby?

John, Thanks for the lead on the weiner car in 1/64.  I ordered one it came in and I plan to post it on Sunday.  Now if I could find a real 1/64 old motorcycle, my diner area would be almost complete.

The GPS idea is a great one and on the same vein a seprate channel on the radio that all E Responders can access.  In the past I trained and evaluated Incident Command and Emergency Response.  In the yearsI saw that communication and being able to accurately know were your assests are are vital and usually a weak link.

Take care and God Bless

Well, the best of plans.....you know.  Anyway, got the tractor fixed, but not completely put back together when I got paged in for another emergency.  So, here I am again, waiting on the post op labs and x-ray before I leave.  I go off call Monday, maybe I can get some yard work done then.  Times like this, it would be easier to hire someone, but I enjoy getting outside.

Sounds like guys are starting to report in with the York Haul.  I certainly would like to make it....some day.  Wife already says we have too much, but when the layout is done and the room is cleaned, we will have more room for trains.

Hobo, sure do recognize you.  Glad you're back.

Have a great day Y'all!

Well its taken me a few hours to recover enough to post...

Fife, my feet, my back, my legs, and my neck all were sore this morning!  And the wife STILL made me get up and mow the lawn - ran out of gas halfway through will finish tomorrow.  Sorry I missed the ice cream social... really wanted to stay...

Laz, glad you got that Hudson!  Can't wait to see pics...

Woke up this morning to a critical hardware failure report from windows... my system seems to be slowly kicking the bucket... hope to be able to get on tonight (at FiLs now) to post the CTT pics!

Well fellas, I picked up the following:
K-Line Plymoth and 6 ore car set (Western Maryland)
Atlas Flatcar with lumber load (Western Maryland)
Atlas gondola with pipe load (C&O)
Lionel Flatcar with lumber bed (Norfolk Western)
Lionel C&O Ballast Tamper
Lionel Tire Swing
Lionel Playground swings
7 pewter painted figures
Lionel 3469 coal dumper
MTH Single Steel Arch Bridge

Got everything home and unloaded... wife was disappointed with the tire swing and playground swings, but she REALLY liked the bridge!  Was floored by that one.  She told me I should have picked up the MTH Passenger station, Fire Station, and gas Station... told her they also had the Lionel Bowdish Homestead - she said I should have gotten that too.... Banged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead] I wanted to go home with some cash remaining and she tells me I should have spent more!  And I had enough room in the trunk! Banged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead]Banged Head [banghead] Told her there is always the October show... she said OK, you should have the layout pretty far along by then... I was hoping to pickup most of the track at the October show, but looks like I'll be buy more then too!

Hobo - welcome back to the forum! Yes, I recognized your avatar.

Sounds like the guys are having fun and spending $$$ at York.

Beautiful, sunny day in Dixie today. I washed my Blazer and my wife's Jeep. Watching the Univ. of Alabama's "A-Day" spring scrimage on TV. I love watching college football. Dogs are snoozing on the couch by me while I type away on the laptop.

Have a great weekend, everyone!

Sounds like they are having a good time in York.  Laz and the rest, please share photos of your purchases.  Currently watching RFD-TV on Trolleys in the South.  Good program, great for ideas for those wanting to model the 40's.

Chuck, Happy AnniversaryConfused [%-)] I know you are glad to get that over with and to return to normal.  Hope you continue doing well.

Already been to the hospital for post op rounds and home again.  I am tired, but after my morning reading, I am heading out to work on the tractor.  I absolutely have to get her running to get the yard taken care of.  I also have a 2pm appointment to have a car serviced.

Hope everyone has a great weekend.

Morning all.  Sounds like the CTT gang at York is having a good time.  Looks like John F. is keeping them in line [with LAZ, its hard to do].  Fife is running around barking just like his name [should be changed to Fiest]. Laugh [(-D]  Pretty here and warm.  Roseyville Rec Day and Parade at 11AM.  Marches right by my house on Main Street.  All the ball teams are in the parade.  30 some ball teams of kids.  All teams play and lots of food [mainly hot dogs] in the Rec Park up the street.  Reason Buckeye has not posted lately.  He is using his engineering talents here in Roseyville [on Community Serivce from a Judge] to remove all the cow patties from the ball fields before games start. Whistling [:-^]  Have a great day.

HI GIZ,

GREAT DAY yesterday at YORK.  Met up with all the GIZ, as stated before about 12 of us in the PHOTO.  We did lunch together and shot da you know what for a little, all in all a GREAT BUNCH O GIZ.  Seems like this is turning into an annual thing, which is really GREAT.

FIFE, who gave you bunny ears?Shock [:O]

MARTY, thanks again for the directions for the alternate route, took that on the way home and it saved me time.

RT, BILL, went out side of ORANGE HALL bout 505 and didn't see you, were you there?

Made a major purchase as FIFE stated before.  A MTH Premier Dreyfuss Hudson, got a good deal from GRYZBOWSKIs and was mulling it over all day then finally got it at 630 PM.  FIFE kinda talked me into it.  FIFE sounds good to me about having a drinking buddy.  Broke in the DREYFUSS last nite along with a 8 car MTH Streamliner set that I bought off a member for $260.  I also found my 800 lb, BRUIN there at the meet and finally took him home.  Heard he is hungry for some SOUTHERN foodWink [;)].  Also got some pretty ladies for the layout and some cool cars.

ALL and ALL what a great time, big turnout yesterday, they had even had us park on the infield at the fairgrounds, a first for me.

  Rock on GIZ.

Mornin' boys. Mornin' Bo.  Well, another YORK is in the books.  Wait 'til you see the lineup photo! (Who "bunny eared" me?)  The cats from CTT were cool to talk to, and Neil B and Kent J mugged for our picture.  Dean Bennet is someone we gotta get to the Coffee Pot, good fella.

Poor 88 didn't know what hit him.  By 5 his feet were plum wore out (as was his cellphone from all the "Honey can I buy" messages), and his back was aching.  I think he was the first doodle at the gate yesterday morning.  I could tell by his primo parking spot!

Laz57 parted with some major coinage with the purchase of a beautiful MTH NYC Hudson.  He labored on it, but I think he's most happy this morning.  Wish he lived closer, I'd have a new drinkin' buddy for sure.

Dbaker48, all the way from Cerritos for YORK.  Got to sit next to him at lunch.  Really easy goin' feller.  Wished we coulda put together a little post TCA outing for him and wrmclellan ; guys came so far for a train show.  Next time they're in town will give'm a tour (museums, maybe a ball game, a little railfanning...)

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 44 degrees. Going up to 77 today, with sunshine. This weather can stay this way. Beautiful day ahead.

Today, I will be outside again, mowing the back grass and finishing up the trimming. This is the first time I have done it all, since 2005. Last year, I had some help from my nice neighbors. Feels good to do it myself. Today is one year since my surgery. It's been a long year. Feeling good.

Dining Car is here early. Time for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

Morning Folks - Looks to be a beee-u-tee-full day here in the nieghborhood. I am going to get a haircut then come home and cut some grass.  Have to tinker with the mower a bit as she has a flat tire (and probably a dead battery) after sitting all winter.

Sign - Welcome [#welcome]Zeke - sure sounds like you had a busy day yesterday.  I am tired after reading everything you did.

Welcome back -  Hobo - search and rescue with ATV's sounds like a good plan.  We had a situation a few weeks back where one of the kids at my school ran away after getting off the bus.  They could have used an ATV to track him.  Sure might be easier and cheaper than calling out the helicopters right away, you sure could cover more ground than on foot.

Hope to get the new gantry crane set up to try out today.  I am going to  need to remove some stuff from the layout to fit it in.  I'll have to ponder on it.  I am also going to paint some pre-war stuff that I stripped.

Take care,

Mitch

Mitch, sorry for the news.  Things like this are far beyond our understanding.  For the crew at York, it does sound like you are having some fun.  Glad to hear it.  My night got shot as I was about to leave the hospital, got the page and had to do an emergency case.  Never did get dinner and now it is nearly midnight, so, I will just hit the pillow when I get home.  Have to check post op X-ray to make sure every thing is alright, and then I am out of here.

Fife, I think I will pass on the NS deal that you have.  Now, if it was NW or Southern, I might be tempted.  Glad to know that you think so highly of us to offer such a deal.

Have a great night,

dennis

PS: Hobo, great idea.  You may want to get a GPS that you can take with you, just in case.  You never know where the next incident will occur and where they will put the command post.  Just enter that and you are good to go.

 Hello All :

It's been a long while and have been missing this site alot . Bought a new system and lost all my info and logins and had to redo it all ! Maybe the avatar will be a bit familiar to a couple but if not well ... it's just good to be back . Have been working on my ATV most of the time for summer and have to get back to my trains . We have alot of guys here with 4-wheelers/ATVs and want to get a search and rescue volunteer group finished . After the boy scout missing and seeing all the people searching with them we thought we should get off our rears and get feet and wheels on the ground ASAP here to help find these children and folks lost . Our local law enforcement welcomed the idea overwhelmingly ... as they have none to go deep in the trails and hard to get at areas .

Will be checking back to see everyone ... missed ya'all .............. Sigh [sigh]

It sure was sunny and warm in YORK.  Probably due to all that HOT AIR coming up from the SOUTH.  Someone sure has been very chatty today on the FORUM!  Oh, BTW, anyone looking for a NS boxcar?  I bought one today for a song, but would gladly part with it for saaaay $95; plus shipping;and handling;and PA taxes;plus finders fee...

As Mitch said, we had a great time today with the 3rd meet ( and 2nd annual) CTT Forum get-together. Got photos and hope I can post when I return Sunday night. Pretty good sized group from the original fantastic 4 of 2006. We might have to use the stadium next year?

John, Don, and I toured together through all the halls the last 2 days and had a great time shootin the breeze and looking at more trains then one can conceive. When we got together for a lunch after the photo, the nawtheners were still talking about the great Harrisburg GRITS-capade (or maybe it should be called GRITS-Gate?). Way to go Chief - you the man.

LAZ made some strategic purchases and is cooking up a surprise for da Chief. All I can say is it involves a certain 800 lb bear! Shock [:O]

Regards, Roy

Went to Bandana's for dinner - BBQ pork and sausage with a side salad and garlic bread.  Gave the fries to my son after he put too much hot sauce on his to eat them.  Then to HD for 6 more light fixtures for the basement (13 total now).  These are 2 bulb T8 32 watt flourescent fixtures with electronic ballasts.  Also bought a case of lightbulbs for these fixtures.  Also bought a motion sensor light switch for the garage that will stay on for up to 15 minutes after movement ceases - this way the overhead lights can come on when my wife comes home in the dark, which will be nicer for her. Forgot the mole stuff though :(  Neat stuff in the AtlasO catalog, thanks for the update on the overlord!

Evening.  Just got in from a dinner out.  Pam's good friend had a birthday and we met her and her husband at a Tex-Mex place.  Got to visit for a couple of hours.  Now to rest.  Sawed up two trees for the neighbor and hauled them to the woods.  Mowed my grass and part of that yard.  Will finish tomrrrow AM.  Roseyville will have its anual Recreation Day and Parade.  Starts the kids baseball/softball season.  Maybe some train time.  Later.

Evening Boys (and Miss Lisa). Yesterday did not start out as planned. Hoped to work on the computer for a few hours and then head to York when the meet opened at Noon. Got a call at 6:20 AM from my Assistant Pprincipal. One of my teachers had just called to say that her 6 yo grandson had died while running in a Fun Run on Wednesday night. The little guy had been running this particular fun run race since he was 3. His Mom was running with him and he told her he was having trouble breathing. They stopped right away and he collapsed and the paramedics could not revive him. What a tragedy. Moments like this are hard to understand. I got ready and went to work to meet with staff to tell them.

Finally at about 2:00 PM the Mrs. and I got to York. We walked the Orange Hall until a little after 6:00 PM. Bought a Lionel MOW Ballast Tamper NIB for $40 (list was $95+) Cute little critter. Also picked up David Doyle's two new books on PW Sets and PW 1945-1969. I already had his Pre-War book. I picked up a CTT box truck too. Very detailed. Looks nice on the layout.

Today I met a college buddy and went through Silver, Blue, Brown, Purple, and Orange again. Also walked through Black Hall to see the Flower City Tinplate Trackers modular display. I bought some repro couplers for pre-war that I am restoring. I also picked up a NYC Gantry Crane (non magnet variety) for $65. I came with two coil covers for gondolas that you can lift on and off with the hook. Might have to create some freight loads (like CSXT30/John's) to manuever around with the crane. Been looking for a Gantry Crane, if I don't like the non-magnet version, I think I could get my money back on eBay.

Met with GregM and wife, Roy, LAZ, Don Baker, John Fullerton, Fife, MartyE, Brent, and some other forumites at the CTT booth. We took our traditional photo with Neil and Kent from CTT. Wait till you see the photos, quite a motley crew.

Hope to post some photos this weekend.

Take care,

Mitch
