Brent, I agree with your assesment of the Radon scare.  To my knowledge it was never proven to be harmful.

My wife and I spent 4th of July holiday weekend in Baltimore the year before the roof calapsed in the snow storm.  We were going to go to the Museum while there, but found out to late that the 4th is one of only a few days it is closed.  When they were raising money to rebuild to sent a contribution and bought one of the boxcars they issued, but have never made it to the Museum.  MUST do it one of these days.

Weather here has been beautiful up to 8:00 PM.  Now a slow rain is falling.  The worst is supposed to be over by YORK. Smile [:)]

Crazy weather here.  Was in the upper 80's today and supposed to be in the lower 60's tomorrow.  Rain, wind, and lots of thunder.  We are under a tornado watch till midnight.  We are trying to keep things as normal as possible for the kids, but will move them away from the windows for tonight.  Hopefully the power won't go out.

Was able to get some work done on the tractor and finally able to get another loop of track wired.  I cut a bunch of feeder wires and put connectors on them so that I will be able to do the connections and then it is time to run some "star" wiring.  I hope to get some real progress on this in a short amount of time.

Does anyone know what it would cost to send $100. by western Union to Italy?  I know, a odd question, but I got a Hudson and the seller is in Italy......I know, gotta watch it, but Ebay has guaranteed the sale.  Anyway, I will head over to the WU place Monday and take care of that.  Hope everyone is safe and gets to make it to church in the morning.  We have some "adoption books" to read to the kids.  It helps explain things so it is not an issue later in life.

Good evening all,

It has been a cold, wet, rainy, miserable day in SE Indiana with temps in the 30s.  Kevin in Alaska, please send some heat this way as I saw it was warmer in Anchorage than in Indiana.  My wife and I worked four hours last night helping to set up for prom.  Today we went to the local historical society for a dedication of one of my mom's quilts that my dad was donating to the museum.  It was a very nice ceremony.  Then we had to get Lucas ready for the prom, and take him to pick up his girlfriend.  (He can drive, but he can't take any passengers under 21 with him.)  We went to her mom's house, and to her dad's house and to ours so his friend's dad could take the four of them in a restored '55 Cadillac limo.  My sister treated us to supper from Chili's.  It was a good day.  Buckeye, I liked your golfing comments, but then my opinion of golf courses probably should not be repeated here :-).   I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

I'm not falling for this again.  Last time I went to Diecast Direct to look at the batmobiles, I ended up spending about $80.00.  Leaving for York on Wednesday need to keep what money I have.   LOL

Cut the grass for the first time earlier today wearing a heavy winter coat and was still cold.   Was the first time I can remember wanting to get the grass cut ahead of snow.  It's snowing right now, just plain weird!

Hi all! Getting some heavy rain right now. No tornados or hail, thankfully. Just thunder and rain, which I'm happy to get.

Just me and the dogs home right now. Wife and younger daughter in Mobile visiting FIL. Son is home this weekend and at an interview for a summer job at the YMCA. Older daughter works there in the summers also - may be his supervisor! Shock [:O]

Hope everyone is enjoying their weekend!

I just purchased the 1940's Batmobile for $5.99 at Wallgreens Drug Store. They also had the 1930's, 50's, 60's and newest ones I did not pay attention too. I also saw the Joker car available.

Too cold for patio work today and also there is a lot of water everywhere and falling as we speak.  Better than snow, though.  Did get some free food out of the deal.  We rewired a couple light switches, since he bought dimmer switches for 3-ways in the foyer and hallway.  Never saw a dimmer on a 3-way switch before.  One switch remains a regular 3-way.  The other one has a dimmer function, but only on one "Circuit", so you have to get it set right.  The first one was wired in the wall weird - power to the light and then wires to the 2 switches from there.  The 2nd one was "normal" with power to the first switch, then the 2nd, then the light.  Going out to dinner with friends tonight.  Keep losing out on ebay, but it's fun to think about the stuff I might have won.

Afternoon all!

Nice of Buckeye to recount his own caddy's remarks for LAZ.

Blustery day here today. High of 54. 45 this am. Had heavy rain and hail last night. No damage here but east of us a small tornado did some damage to some condos.

Quiet day today. Wife and daughter off shopping for daughter's choir Spring trip to S Padre Island.

Have a great day all!

Regards, Roy

Mornin All,

Today is shaping up to be another sunny, beautiful day in the mile high city.  My Dallas Stars tied up the series with the Canucks with a 2-0 shut out.  The series swings back to Dallas on a confident high.  I may live in Denver...but I'm a true Dallas fan of just about everything.  (don't follow the NBA).

Ran the trains a bit lastnight.  I'm going to finish my other benches today so that my track expansion can continue until I determine how I want to design my scenery.

Watched the "Toy Trains" and "Steam Trains" episode on the History International Channel.  This was talked about in previous threads...I set Tivo to record them and just getting around to watching this morning.  I actually learned something from the show "Steam Trains".  I'll admit that I didn't fully know what the numbers exactly meant when referring to a steam locomotive.  I figured the numbers of 4-4-0 had something to do with the wheels...but wasnt' sure which end you started counting from.  The show showed a graphic and demonstrated which end (the front) to start counting from.  I now know.  Does anyone know anything about the UP Cheyenne, Wyoming excursions?  The show mentioned that UP maintains an active steam yard that is closed to the public...but they take the trains out various times of the year.  If anyone has any info about this, please email me.  Cheyenne is only 2 hours or so from Denver.

Well....I've gotta go to Lowes and get some 2x4's for the rest of my bench work.

Jerry

Good morning from New England!!!

Hey look at me posting on a Saturday! That can only mean one thing - I'm at the library (because I'm too cheap to buy a computer for home, right Chief). Wifey is working, so I'm taking the kids all over creation for the day. We've already stopped at the train store where I picked up the new catalogs and ordered a Trainsounds Polar Express tender. They had a great looking NYC diesel there for $80. I know it's a cheapie with one motor, but a brand new Lionel diesel for $80, less my usual discount? I'm going to ask for it for Father's Day. My kids looooove diesels. They want me to buy them an Amtrack set from Williams...

Hey Chief, those "mountains" look like dung piles to me. Or maybe Photoshopped ant hills. Is it true you have that new CTT delivery truck up on blocks already?

Buckeye, great post! Who writes your material?

My 2037 shell came out the bomb yesterday. So I'm going to take my other one and paint it pink for Julia. Need to pick up some lacquer thinner to strip it first.

Dougie, feel better, man! Nothing worse than food poisoning. Reminds me of Norman Rockwell's least known painting "Bad Clams". Not displayed much for obvious reasons.Laugh [(-D]

Well, off to Chuckie Cheese. Where a kid can be a kid, and a dad can check out the yummie MILFs! Have a great weekend everyone. Even you, Chief!

It's Saturday Morning!!!!

In honor of our buddy LAZ, we give you the ten best remarks by his caddy:

10 -- Golfer: "Think I'm going to drown myself in the lake."
Caddy: "Think you can keep your head down that long?"

9 -- Golfer: "I'd move heaven and earth to break 100 on this course."
Caddy: "Try heaven, you've already moved most of the earth."

8 -- Laz: "Do you think my game is improving?"
Caddy: "Yes sir, you miss the ball much closer now."

7 -- Laz: "Do you think I can get there with a 5 iron?"
Caddy: "Eventually."

6 -- Laz: "You've got to be the worst caddy in the world."
Caddy: "I don't think so sir.  That would be too much of a coincidence."

5 -- Laz: "Please stop checking your watch all the time.  It's too much of a distraction."
Caddy: "It's not a watch - it's a compass."

4 -- Laz: "How do you like my game?"
Caddy: "Very good sir, but personally, I prefer golf."

3 -- Laz: "Do you think it's a sin to play on Sunday?"
Caddy: "The way you play, sir, it's a sin on any day."

2 -- Laz: "This is the worst course I've ever played on."
Caddy: "This isn't the golf course.  We left that an hour ago."

1 -- Best Caddy Comment Laz: "That can't be my ball, it's too old."
Caddy: "It's been a long time since we teed off, sir."

Laz, you just show up here in Buckeyeland and we will treat for golf.

Yes, it is January February March April 14th and it is forecasted to snow in Buckeyeland.  We are not getting our normal weekend yard work completed and planting in the Garden RR has not begun this year.

I hope you read the post about how to wire the lock-on to the three rail tubular track.  As a kid I used to wire my train all by myself. Shock [:O] Two wires from the transformer to the lock-on.  Pretty simple.  I didn't ever burn down the house or destroy an engine.  I think I did shock the dog, once.  My mom put a stop to that real quick.  My grade crossing flashers and semaphore worked, too.  I guess now you need to take a clase in electronics to connect the transformer to the track. Laugh [(-D] Ah, to be ten again.  Life was simple.

I had a call from the LHS, they wanted to know if I ordered 8 HO Mobile Home Trailers.  Confused [%-)]  Not mine, but they might be the Chief's since he is trying to create a authentic Surthern City on his layout. (BTW, I heard that the Chief's new CTT Delivery truck is already up on blocks on his layout.)  Laugh [(-D] Speaking of the Chief, his layout is now going to depict the Norfolk and Southern running through the mountains of Southern California.  I guess since it is Surthern, it doesn't matter.  Chief, I would suggest you change your engines out to Southern Pacific and send me all your NS equipment. I will pay the shipping.  Jim, can you paint repaint them for me?  I will send you the blue and bright yellow paint.

The boys in the sharp corner of Ohio have had it bad.  More snow on the way today.

Small train show at Bucyrus, Ohio tomorrow.  Might try to attend.  With the poor weather, some good deals may be found.

See ya down the tracks and have a good week,

LOL.

BUCKEYE, You'll treat?  WOE  is me?  Going to take the sun glasses of the Presidents in your wallet?  Better get to OHIO soon, this doesn't happen all that much?Wink [;)]

If we play its going to take us a weeek or more to get in nine holes.

Hope to play after this big snow we might get.

LOL.

Good morning.  I guess the Buckeye can not see too well.  Did you not see the UP engines in the pictures???  I now know you do not take Trains magazine nor do you read your Trains newletter sent by email.  UP and NS have an agreement on intermodal.  UP pulls to the interchange and NS pulls to the east coast locations.  That is one reason you see UP mixed with NS and NS on UP tracks.  You really have to educate those Yanks. Now as for wiring trains.  Buckeye and I were the same [OH NO!!!!].  My Dad did not know a thing about wiring.  My Uncle Bill showed me how on Christmas morning and I did it myself from then on [at 6 years old].  Also could see the diagrams in the Lionel Manual.  Never had a problem.

Rain in the forecast.  Still going to drop to the upper 30's during next week.  I usaully have plants growing in the garden.  Got squash and tomato plants running up and blooming and still in little pots.  Warm day but chilly nights.  Well, one consolation, the Yanks are getting snow out of this weather they are sending us Southerners.

Off to Miss Edna's and then on a hosta trip with wife.

Good morning from a warmer Crystal Lake where most of the snow from a few days ago has melted and I am rueing my decision to make lunch yesterday out of afew leftovers I found in the fridge. I got sicker than a dog - and the dog is sick too since I fed him some of my lunch. I tried not to tell the bride who is on her birthday trip to NYC but one of her friends did. Well, I survived and 24 hours later now, I feel a little better - I am going through with the middle boy's birthday celebration - taking a few friends and the daughters' boyfriend- and the youngest - to something called GameWorks - I think it is a grown-up's Chuck E Cheeses. He is 13 today.

I second Jim's notion to put a hole through the wall to expand his layout. All in favor, say Aye.
