Morning All

Been away for a while as been busy.  I liked the medicine idea John of whiskey and rock candy.  Brought back memories from my Grandma's cold tonic.  It may not help much but you feel better.  Eat lots of salsa, that will take care of the cold!

Teenage girls are a handful.  Our oldest was especially trying as a teen, and at 27 she is still harvesting the "fruit" sown as a teen.  As she has said several times, I wish I had listened to what you said (when I was a teen).  I pray for teens and parents of teens.  It seems the crap that gets thrown to kids just keeps increasing, make their descisions between what is right and wrong more challenging.  It seems a teens mind is primarily concerned with today and this moment and consequences of one's actions don't matter.  I'll hop off my soap box now.

We had company last night and ran trains for them.  It was neat to watch them watch the trains, and felt good to see folks appreciate the trains and layout.

Cool and wet today.  Spring is coming, isn't it?  Flowers and stuff is pretty much on hold.  Looking forward to getting the 734 operating car and 770 loading platform got off the bay.  May need to "re-arrange" some things again.  Now if I would take over the other spare bedroom, run a tunnel through the wall and put another layout in the other room!  I'd get shot, if I did that.

Hope all is doing well

Good Morning all!

Cool but clear today in Toronto.  Looking forward to flogging a few cars at auction today.

Buckeye: The golf jokes were timely.  I suspect there's a bunch of jokers teeing off right about now...The LEAFS!....40 years and still counting.

Amtrak is sponsoring Thomas and Friends on PBS....that explains why it now comes on 1 1/2 hours later.

Don't know what all the fuss about raising teenagers is about.  Y'all don't have Duct Tape down there or what?  Read Red Green's book on parenting!

The recent post on running more than one train at a time got me thinking.  I hadn't tried one of TMCC's main benefits...controlling 2 trains on one loop.  So I backed the E6 with it's string of heavyweights onto the same loop as the the 773's frieght consist and fired things up.  It was like playing a video game trying to regulate the speeds but for the most part I always felt in control.  That is until I decided that the second loop needed something running on it too.  Fired up the Torpedo on loop 2 and off it went...right through a misaligned switch and smack dab into the back of a passenger train parked at the station.  Once things got righted I had three trains running with only a minimum of concentration needed.  Might try running 4 at a time after I get better at the button pushing shuffle.  That'll also test the old ZW to it's limit.

Well, have a great Saturday everyone.   Off to the auction.

Chief, wife wants to see pics of the grandson, proud parents and grandparents... she offered to sell you my trains for him Disapprove [V] - but that isn't happening! Smile [:)]

We're heading to the B&O Museum today... I told her for every 'threat' to sell my trains she has to attend 10 train related areas with me, for each 'threat' to sell an engine or accessory is 5 trips, and for each automobile or rolling stock it will cost her 1 trip... so after today she is still in the hole by 29 trips... Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a cool 32 degrees. Cloudy. Going up to 47 today, with a good chance of rain / snow / wind, and anything else, thrown in. Yuk.

Today, I will spend some time in the train room. I need to run trains. Have a few ideas for the town. Can't do much outside. Yesterday, was a nice day. Sunny. I need to do some train cleaning.

Buckeye... I enjoyed your golfer's post. Poor LAZ.  Keep your eyes open for a Weinermobile at the train show.

Off to the Dining car. Breakfast.

Y'all have a great Saturday.

Live from Roger's Corners, OHIO

It's Saturday Morning!!!!

In honor of our buddy LAZ, we give you the ten best remarks by his caddy:

10 -- Golfer: "Think I'm going to drown myself in the lake."
Caddy: "Think you can keep your head down that long?"

9 -- Golfer: "I'd move heaven and earth to break 100 on this course."
Caddy: "Try heaven, you've already moved most of the earth."

8 -- Laz: "Do you think my game is improving?"
Caddy: "Yes sir, you miss the ball much closer now."

7 -- Laz: "Do you think I can get there with a 5 iron?"
Caddy: "Eventually."

6 -- Laz: "You've got to be the worst caddy in the world."
Caddy: "I don't think so sir.  That would be too much of a coincidence."

5 -- Laz: "Please stop checking your watch all the time.  It's too much of a distraction."
Caddy: "It's not a watch - it's a compass."

4 -- Laz: "How do you like my game?"
Caddy: "Very good sir, but personally, I prefer golf."

3 -- Laz: "Do you think it's a sin to play on Sunday?"
Caddy: "The way you play, sir, it's a sin on any day."

2 -- Laz: "This is the worst course I've ever played on."
Caddy: "This isn't the golf course.  We left that an hour ago."

1 -- Best Caddy Comment Laz: "That can't be my ball, it's too old."
Caddy: "It's been a long time since we teed off, sir."

Laz, you just show up here in Buckeyeland and we will treat for golf.

Yes, it is January February March April 14th and it is forecasted to snow in Buckeyeland.  We are not getting our normal weekend yard work completed and planting in the Garden RR has not begun this year.

I hope you read the post about how to wire the lock-on to the three rail tubular track.  As a kid I used to wire my train all by myself. Shock [:O] Two wires from the transformer to the lock-on.  Pretty simple.  I didn't ever burn down the house or destroy an engine.  I think I did shock the dog, once.  My mom put a stop to that real quick.  My grade crossing flashers and semaphore worked, too.  I guess now you need to take a clase in electronics to connect the transformer to the track. Laugh [(-D] Ah, to be ten again.  Life was simple.

I had a call from the LHS, they wanted to know if I ordered 8 HO Mobile Home Trailers.  Confused [%-)]  Not mine, but they might be the Chief's since he is trying to create a authentic Surthern City on his layout. The boys in the sharp corner of Ohio have had it bad.  More snow on the way today.

Small train show at Bucyrus, Ohio tomorrow.  Might try to attend.  With the poor weather, some good deals may be found.

See ya down the tracks and have a good week,

Cold rain tonight, went and had pizza with my friends and our kids.  Have to get up tomorrow for the patio project.  John said to come over as soon as we get up - they are serving breakfast and lunch.  Of course, now it's supposed to be a rain/snow mix all morning.  Don't want to get frostbite digging a hole, but we'll see what really happens.  Meanwhile my wife is out with the girls - apparently they stopped for some Mex food and a couple drinks after their meeting.  Dave and I watched Slither.  If you haven't seen it, it's a pretty good horror movie with some comedy.  Scary!  No trains, though.  I was telling them about those Williams trains - they sure look nice.  Need to get new cell phones and I'm getting a camera phone this time, so I can take some pics of the downtown STL trainyard and post them for you guys.  Today I saw UP, NS, AMTRAK, and even some Canadian cars going through.  Prayers for Corzine/NJ Gov.  Wear your seatbelts, kids!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

That is because you have been in stupid New England all your pittiful life.

Ask Dougsnotagrump about this one.

Look at the mountains behind the trains above.

Now for the untraveled smart mouthed Yankee.  Look at Palm Springs and Indian Wells.

I guess you will say they are not brown.

Grass cut.  Ran trains.  Boxed up the N&W Atlas engines to ship to a guy in VA.  Three NS Atlas's are being shipped to me.

Pam has finally made it home.  Surprised she could leave Carter.  Will download pictures tomorrow.

Dr. John, I may try to take a little glue to the binding myself.  I will check with the local library.  It is mainly the mid east maps in the back, all the way past Revelation and the concordance are OK.  It is just anoying that I have to watch that the maps don't fall out every time I open it.  Of course, if one tends to read it daily, it is going to get worn anyway.

Well, back from dinner.  I even told the wife to go to the mall and buy some clothes.....while I brought the box of trains in from the front door.  I am waiting on the payment instructions on that Hudson.  Can hardly wait for it.  I think that will complete the engines that I needed for the passenger cars that I had been given.  The engine is another PS1, but like the NYC hudson, I will have to convert it to TMCC.

Hope everyone is doing well tonight.

Dennis, regarding your Bible that needs repair, it can be done, but it's not cheap. There's a place in Greenwood, MS that rebinds and recovers Bibles. Do you have a LifeWay store near you? That's where I went to get mine rebound and they shipped it to Greenwood. In all honesty, I could have bought a new Bible for what it cost to get it repaired. Sad [:(]

Doug - yes we are kindred spirits in this journey.

Tornado watches and large hail risks here this afternoon. The funny part is it is hard to tell those things from when my daughter and son are in the house. Maybe they are the cause of the extreme "low" pressure in this area. Their near fission energy levels are affecting the weather her?

The drama levels are so high my wife and I have to take turns to avoid laughing in front of them when this stuff elevates. How can you be stern when you are lol on the inside. I can really admire my dad who appeared to take all this with a completely straight face. I can only asssume he spent his days at work practicing in front of a mirror.

I haven't touched that tender since that first night, Brent. But I did buy new brushes and springs, so one day soon, it will get fixed. I think I have 3 or 4 pw tenders that need a tune up, and 2 locomotives. The locos are a 2018 and a 736.

I think your tender will look good painted pink behind my daughter's 2037 pink girl's loco! Wink [;)] I'm glad I didn't pass this one up as well. And one day I'll have a nice set of post war 2343s. Got nuthin but time. Until then I'll run my Williams 2343 set. They look and run like brand new and will pull a Buick!

Jim,
How's that tender holding up?  Always curious how my 'passed along' items are doing...

A few days after I sold it to ya, and it was in the mail, I found 7 or 8 engines that needed a tender that I was interested in purchasing for restorations (converting to PSU engines)... Smile [:)] at least you didn't pass on that one! Wink [;)]

The 2037 shell "restoration" was a huge success. I didn't go for a like-new appearance. Rather, I only repaired and repainted the largest areas of damage. Many of the areas had huge scratches or areas of paint loss. The existing finish was sanded and then repainted. The paint had to be custom mixed, but it's a perfect match for what is original on the shell. So the whole thing looks believably aged instead of brand new.

This was a practice run for my 736. And I have to say, it came out better than I expected. That Berk is going to look a whole lot better this time next week.

Have a nice weekend everyone.

My daughter is only 2 years old and I think I have a lot to look forward toBanged Head [banghead].  Don't know what it is today, but I just feel tired.  Hope to shake it as I want to get some train time in.  I am thinking of taking my bride and the kids out to dinner.  Not only because she deserves it, but also because I know there will be a package at the front door when we get backWink [;)].  Got Veggie Tales on for the kids right now.  Hope to keep their interest as we have Kirt Cameron and also the Veggie Tales coming to our church this weekend.

Chief, look forward to seeing some photos of that grandbaby.  Sure he is a cutie.  So, which train set have you ordered for him?  Don't spoil him too much.

Have you, or anyone heard from Elliot lately?  Have not heard since we lifted up prayers when he was having some more sickness.  Hope things are getting better.

Hope eveyone has a great weekend.

Doug,

Your remark about the ages of your kids brought back memories.  Mine are now 27 (mother of 1.7 kids), 25 (mother of 8 month old boy), and the 16 year old son.  Having the two girls close in age let me get thru "those" years with perhaps less trauma than having one of each going thru adolescence at the same time.  The boy alone is a handful as it is, and do not let it ever be said that only girls are hormonal.  My wife really enjoys having his girlfriend come over so she can get her estrogen fix.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

As Roy knows, I also have a newly minted 13 yr old (boy) and 15 yr. old (girl) - I feel his pain. They are maddening - I try to remember they are essentially brain damaged because they are growing so fast. Then again, I have a 4 yr. old to add to the fun too.

WAHOO !!  One day closer to York !

Last "real" day of work, (ha) will most likely spend the day making more lists, reviewing catalogs, etc..  Already started watching traffic conditions for trip to airport.  I think I'm going crazy!  If Tom has the "inner child" in him I sure don't know what I have.

My empthay goes out to you guys with teenage girls.  About a month ago I took my son to play pool one evening while Mom was at Bunco.  Since, then he has come home from work 3 times, and says "Hey Dad, How about going and shooting some stick?"  It has been a blast, darn thing is, he is begining to beat me, regurlarly. Black Eye [B)] Costing me .25 per game.   Since he has "possesion" of the El Camino, he is extemely cautious as to when he drives it.  Won't take it too work, it might get dusty, and doesn't want it parked there all day.  Even though they have a guarded employee parking lot.  Gets home and uses a car duster to wipe off the accumulated dust from it sitting in the garage.  I've been blessed !!!

Better go and label some cartridges or do something so they wife thinks I've been working. Wink [;)]

Plan on finishing the installation this week-end of my elevated G Scale shelf.

Have a great day all, stay warm, dry, and John start drinking Chicken Soup. Dinner [dinner]
