Kurt, I knew if it was Gratiot Valley it had to be HO. I'm just recovering from the fair as that trip to Dollywood in 100 degrees & humidity was just wearing off. I got flashbacks but the grandsons had a good time.

Chief here are two secretes to good brats
1. Start with a good quality brats(the real thing not Jville or other toned down sausage) Here in Columbus that would be Faulters.
2.You must boil your Brats in beer untill they turn a grayish white color and THEN you put them on the grill if your brats are brown or tan it is not real Brats. You can top it with sourkraut but I perfer sauted onions and bell peppers.
Good evening all,
I have to agree with Chuck in that there is nothing like a fine looking waitress early in the morning to get the day off to a good start. I had an outdoor meeting at work today right next to the Louisville and Indiana line in the south central part of Indianapolis. Saw a triple headed train mosey pass us twice. Tomorrow I am reffing two U-14 soccer games. Best seat in the house. Two of the grandkids are staying with us tomorrow night as their mom goes to her 10 year high school class re-union. I told my daughter to dress so that all the guys who did not ask her out in high school wish they had :-). I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Evening All -
First thing - Tomorrow evening on TCM, is a great movie if anyone has the time. It is Mad, Mad, Mad, Mad, World. Probably the best comedy I have ever seen. And, the cast is biggest and the best names of comedy. Ironically it was filmed here in the Long Beach area. Great movie for kids.
I took have noticed a little "spunk" with Chuck, his waitress must really be commanding his attention.
Jim, we are having the same "fun" here. Just replaced the washer, and dryer. New windshield in wifes car today. And now some of the plumbing seem to be acting up. Just never ends.
John, don't forget to post some images of the new engine, (assuming you havn't lost the camera).
Busy weekend planned, trip to San Diego, then working in train room the rest of the time. Have to make a presentation to a Genology group of about 60 people on printing. Maybe make a few sales.
Have a great weekend, forgot everything else worth mentioning.

Thanks Jim !! I always say, I'm only here for one reason, "To Have Fun" !!
I sent you an email on thse tools or socket. I know just the ones you need too, but now I can't find them. If you don't have them by the Oct. train show,I'll pick you up a set there. The ones I am speaking of, are very inexpensive & come in a blue case & they all look like little screwdrivers but they are nutdrivers. They're always at the train shows !! Some hardware stores have had them too, oh & hobby shops usualy have them too !!
Well just home from work & on my way to see Chewy !!
Good night all !!
Howwwdeeee !
Boy, what a great way to start the day. On the way in to the museum really enjoying a drive with no breaklights, no stop'n'go and no lane hoppers. So what happens to disrupt this enjoyment ? One of my rear tires on my truck just flat shredded in a split second at about 70mph. I get it to the shoulder and then get that sinking feeling, how many years has it been since the spare was actually checked let alone used. Fortunately there was a nice wide shoulder so my tush wasn't hanging in the road while I changed the tire. Luckily no damage other than a bent up rear quarter panel, still need to double check the brake lines, had to untangle a big strip of tread from around the shocks/springs/axle housing.
Now a special note for you halloween fans, they aren't "O" scale closer to G but they appear to be pretty cool. But I do have somewhat of a warped sense of humor.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a beautiful, sunny 58 degrees. Going up to a cooler 76, today, with lots of sunshine.
Today, I plan on spending a lot of time outside. Next week, they are calling for rain, at least for a couple days. I have the usual chores to do around the house and then, I think I will take some pictures outside. The summer goes fast and it is worth enjoying. Don't think I will spend any time with trains today. I guess I need an outdoor train.
Dining car is here and waitress is serving. Breakfast.
Y'all have a great Saturday.

Mornin' boys. Sunny & 70's here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Father/son outing for today...movie matinee, then go-cart racing, then dinner at H(.)(.)TERS. Yes, Laz, you can tag along. And, thank you....again...
jaabat - let's see, I take a lightning bolt to the house 2 weeks ago that fried a few appliances. Now you are suffering gremlins. Coincidence --->I THINK NOT! There's only one "being" capable of reaking this kind of havoc...
dougdagrump - Glad you got it stopped without losing control. You get the MANLY MAN award for Saturday, August 18, 2007. BTW, just throw those underoos away; can't get them clean.
Chief - I carry my spare with me wherever I go.
Morning all!
Beautiful in Southern Ohio!
I aggree Schmitts in Columbus is really good. My wife is German decent and has an appreciation of good German food too. There is another really good German food resturant in southern Indiania, can't think of the name off hand.
I got the AF 290 tender fixed and the loco and tender ran on the test track great, pulling 4 box cars at 8 trips around in a minute @ < 2 amps. All thats left is a replacement headlight lens. Then start in on the coaler.
All take care. Will check in later. Going to daughter's to clean out her shed and garage. Son in law piece of work.
May God bless
Jim
HI GIZ,
CHUCK exactly the same weather here today. Cold front pushed through and the wind is blowing about 15 mph. Real refreshing.
FIFE, HUBA HUBA H(.)(.)TERS,LOL. I'm there.
Ran trains last nite for about an hour. Then got in survivor mode watch SURVIVORMAN, and going TRIBAL. Pretty good shows on Discovery.

Me too.
Off to the store [9 CDT]. Dr. John nor I have heard a word from Dennis. Cell phone still not on. Hope he comes to store or calls. Dr. J and I are going to do early lunch. Later
Nick,
Been off line for about five weeks, if your CU has enough space? Put a separate 30 amp ring circuit (2.5mm2 conductors) to the R room (2XC80's could pull up to 13 amps). An alternative is to take a single 15 amp (1.5mm2 conductors) fused spur off a nearby socket to a single or double 13amp outlet. Your existing lighting ring should be expanded, I presume you are making extensive use of low energy lamps so the extension is unlikely to stretch its capacity.
Cool here in a damp Stockport, bought a Panama hat mid June, wore it the day I got it and haven't needed it since.
All these bad lads messing with the pot infuriates me, as I get a great deal of pleasure from the activity, Kick 'em out!
Jim, I have 200+ e-mails to sort and you are a master, I read every one although some are lost in translation they get well spread here in UK, please keep them coming.
PS. It's good to be back, I've been suffering withdrawal symptoms.
John Baker
Bakeer - Mornin' English.
Chief - at first, I thought it could be you (...with your ties to Mother Nature and all...). But if you truly wielded UNLIMITED POWER, you wouldn't have let NS fall on such hard times in PA (check Trains forum...)
Morning folks,
It's cooler today maybe 75, maybe rain tomorrow then 80s again.
What's a spare? Do all cars have one? or just trucks.
Wife is canning some of those toma oh you know. smells good.
Well today is the 50th yr. class reunion in Toledo, I have mixed thoughts about going after all it's just going to be a group of old people. I'll let you know tomorrow if anyone comes with a sweet young thing on his arm, I doubt it, none of us ever had THAT much money. Also going to visit my aunt who is 92 and still does ok for her age.A Ky. girl that might help(mothers sister)
Later, Sir James

Man - bunch of posts! John Baker - good to hear from you again! Hope things are going well in Stockport! I read that they banned smoking in pubs in Merry Olde England and now they have to install scent machines to cover the odor of spoiled beer (seriously, read this on like the AP or Reuters)! Hold your nose and do your duty, mate!
John S - thanks for those links you emailed, sure appreciate the help! I spent my allowance this week, so need to wait until next Friday to order... Wife is making noises about all the money I spend on trains...
Dougdagrump - I love those zombies! I saw them at a local mall in CLICKS (store). They also have about a 14 inch tall CTHULHU that I think might be considered O Gauge! Trying to figure out how that would fit into a Halloween layout! Maybe a sort of Night on Bald Mountain diorama? Glad you kept your truck under control!
Chief certainly has Mysterious and Terrible Powers! I think the election (willing submission by the masses to his majestic might) may have amplified his Powers beyond mere demi-level. Best to tread lightly there! Jim A and Fife, you might want to consider any possible Transgressions....
Chuck - you definitely need an outdoor train - go do it!
Doug Murphy - hope your eye is getting better! It's amazing what they can do with lasers now! Read a case a few weeks ago where they did eye surgery on a guy about 15 years ago without lasers and he got a wrinkle or fold over the retina? Permanently disabled. Thank God for advanced medicine!
Wedding rehearsals are pretty dull, but the meal at Old Warson countryclub was not too bad. They had bacon on cheese toast in the free bar, then a caesar salad in a bowl made of cheese, then veal wrapped in proscuto (sp?) and stuffed with some cheese, asparagus, and a cone of mashed potatoes with a rich sauce, finished with a toffee bowl full of icecream with fudge, strawberries, raspberries, blue berry (singular?). I don't drink very much, except the occasional case of beer while fishing, but had a good visit with my aunt Mary Ann and uncle Bill (WWII bomber veteran, former local union president, lineman for Reddy Killowatt over in IL).
Gotta get ready for the actual wedding in a few, so if I missed anyone (Wow -understatement), I read your posts and appreciate the updates and info.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
cnw1995 - LOOK OUT!!! Oh. heh-heh. Sorry. heh-heh.
Fortner - I may have to hire you as my soothsayer...since you seem to have a grasp on all that boogah-boogah mumbo-jumbo.
It's good to smell the Coffee

wrmcclellan wrote: Nick - are you talking about a separate electrical circuit for your layout? If so it is a good idea.
Hi all, Catching up on the pot, boy things move fast.
Roy, Yes I was thinking of a a seperate circuit. I think it would be best, also talked it over with my neighbour who is a "sparky" by trade (electrician). He agrees and is helping FIL and myself on the first fix.
John B, Glad your back. I was getting lonely as the Chief's sole Southern spy on this side of the pond. Yes, FIL and I are intending using low voltage and LED lighting. Well worth keeping the bills down as well as the electrical load.
Garage/Gamesroom now has garage door fitted and is now completly weather proof and secure .
Going away on Holiday to Spain for a couple of weeks on Tuesday will try and check in if I get Wi-Fi on the lads laptop or at a internet cafe. We have rented a villa on the 18th hole of a golf course. Good location, unless I am playing in which case safety helmets will need to be worn
Have a good one
Nick
Good afternoon,
Jim F, The three flavors that I mentioned are the only ones that I have tried. As far as I know it works fine in MTH and Lionel smoke units. Not so sure about Atlas as the two I have don't work the greatest. I want to try the Chief's fix when I get time. BTW does Chewy like frozen custard? At one time we had a spitz that loved all kinds of ice cream, we would get her a small cone whenever we got one and she would like it as we held it and then would eat the cone.
Buckeye, Here is a Mega-Steam link.

Laz, I don't know what Barry was unloading, he was busy and I just said Hi as I was going into the store, Mike was minding the store. The stuff on the table was the same old stuff that was left over from the first shipment, probably end up at York in Oct.
Chief, The E-town Fair is next week. Grandkids will be showing 2 steers, 3 swine, 5 goats. Will post a few picks after.
Don, It looks like it worked! Don't panic, one operating loop is enough.
Take care,
John B, I missed your post, in fact I think I missed a whole page when I was reading to catch up! Just noticed Nick's mention of your name and went back and looked. Welcome back.

Scott !! Good to see you made it over here !! Just add some coffee to the old grounds !! I just got done changing oil in the wife's car.
Boy, The Chief will sure be glad to see another Yank here & a CSX Conductor too !! Just kidding, we have a lot of fun here Scott & a great bunch of train guys !!
Hope everyone is having a nice day !!
Thanks, John
It was another beautiful day in SE Indiana. It has cooled off, but it is still very dry. I reffed two games today. The second one went ok, but the first one had a controversial ending. The ball was in the air when time expired. I blew the whistle and the ball went in the net. I had to wave it off (soccer is not like football and basketball). Did I mention the game was tied? Did I mention that the home team was the one who would have scored? Needless to say, I am not too popular right with some people. I checked with the other ref and his watch showed time had expired as well and the kid who took the shot was offsides when he got the ball. I can go to sleep and rest easy, but it was still a tough call. There was bacon and bagels on the dining car this morning and tomorrow there will be biscuits as well. I hope everyone has a good day.
Chiefs new pickup truck
Dr. John met up with chief and chief was driving a new F-350 4X4 cab and a half pick-up truck. Dr. John ask him where he got the new truck. Chief says may lou gave it to him.
DR. John says I knew she was sweet on you but didn't know she was that much.
Chief goes last night marry lou came by and picked me up and she took me out on the bayou and parked the truck . we got out and next thing she did was take all her clothes off and said I could have anything I wanted seeing the clothes was to small I took the truck .
Life's hard, even harder if your stupid John Wayne

Scott, CSX, puey!!!!! John is hard enough to take. No, you are really welcome . We tease a lot.
Had great lunch and visit with Dr. John and Dr. Dennis. Good to meet Dr. John. What a swell guy. Now for Dennis. He is a great Bud and always fun to be around. Wish I lived closer so I could help him finish his layout. Did miss seeing Kim and the kids. Kim sure is a lot prettier than Dennis. Came back to store aand could not get into parking lot. Policeman let me in as I was vender. Police were parking folks in the middle of the street in the turn lane. Vehicles were parked on the seeded/strawed part of the property. Got inside and 75% of the folks did not have baskets nor had carts. They were just looking and not buying. As one gentleman told me, its like the State Fair.
Hungry now. Chat later after dinner and microwave popcorn.
PS: [senior moment] John B, glad to have you back. Also, who admitts they are from Toledo.
Evening all
Doug hope your gets better.
Had a great day, cleaned out at daughters house but did not get to the dump before they closed so the truck is loaded to the top of the racks till Monday.
Continued working on the site for the garage addition. By the time the back hoe guy gets here I'll have the site about prepped for concrete forms.
Nice out this evening. Going to make a fire outside and cuddle with my bride!!!
Chief - good choice! The truck will be less trouble in the long run
got to go
