Good Morning All from NE Ohio
where the temp is 66 deg with Blue Clear Skies and heading into the mid 70"s
Looks like a great weekend ahead.
Buckeye - do you think that now the Chief is in charge he will force them to install an interurban? What kind of a true railroader would he be if he doesn't?

Why? We walk around. We are a walkable community. We don't have those Ohizo cold temps and Snohio.
Morning all. Getting ready to go to Miss Edna's. Might start soundboard installation. Got some Town things to do. Might go see retried pilot buddy for several days first part of the week. Have a great day.

Good morning all,
IIABSDISEI with temps in the low 80s. Chief, I am invading the Ohiozo on my way to Mid-Ohio. We are staying at the Westfield Inn in Westfield Center. Our insurance company is a presenting sponsor for the IRL race tomorrow and we managed to get some VIP passes for the race, plus they are putting us up in the company hotel Saturday. This could be a sweet weekend. Look for us tomorrow on TV:-) Doug, since you got a "Lincoln Logs" set, you may have to look at getting the Lionel set that goes with it. We mowed the yard last night and chased neighbor kids away from the apple tree. All they were doing is picking them off and throwing them on each other.
We had bacon and biscuits on the dining car this morning. I hope everyone (especially Darren, Sarah, Danica, and AJ IV) have a good day and a good weekend.
Keep on training,
MIke C. from Indiana
Doug M : in addition to what Mike said above, you may want to look into the American Plastic Bricks !! They are very educational for the little ones and can also go well with your trains !! I know Mike & a couple others have them besides myself & there are tons of them on e-bay all the time. You can make a Trolley Barn & other structures !! This is not a good house I made, but it shows what they are & the windows & doors open ! I have a garage door that opens too !!
Spankbird,
I like the Interurbans and they used to run between larger cities up north before Amtrac was formed and for a few years more.
Trolley's or street cars would run down the streets of a city, Interurbans were too big for local streets.
Having a small thunderstorm right now and hope that I can finish this post!

Tom : maybe The Chief got his Walking Papers !!
My wife and I had a nice visit today with Lisa-n.c. at our mountain house in Banner Elk [where the temperature was 51 degrees last night and the gas furnace cranked up].
Lisa stopped by to pick up the Gargraves wood tie flextrack removed from my dismantled 13x28, twin shelf, 5-track shelf railroad. The wood ties are "desert-dry" and difficult to slide along the rails. Several applications of WD-40 will be required at the tie/rail joints for the return of easy crosstie movement and flexibility. If desired, rail flanges also need some desoldering where railpower wires were connected and where some rail joints were soldered together.
Lisa should now have enough track for her future expansion of the N&W affiliate "Mayodan Ry" located along where the Mayo and Dan Rivers join in her hometown. Servicing the local textile mills, brickyard and plug tobacco factories will keep both her switch engines and the N&W's Roanoke-to-Winston-Salem trains plenty busy.

Willoughby was the headquarters for the CPE (Cleveland, Painsville and Eastern RR) which was an interurban. Here are a few shots of Willoughby back in the day.

Spankybird,
When I think of Interurban Passenger cars I think of the two or three unit ones that ran between Reading and Philadelphia PA. Maybe it was more like Rail Diesel cars but the units were electric powered because they had the overhead wires and catenary.
The model interurban set that I have from K-Line each car is about 18 inches long not including the couplers. The road number is 8211 & 8212 Reading Company, this is not the stock number for these cars as I have the box buried somewhere in the loft upstairs, don't worry it is indoors.

Watering!!!!! Back from Miss Edna's. Jerry and I repaired a Lionel Dash 8. One with the big motors and magnitraction [before TMCC]. Could not believe it. Both gears [at each motor] had slipped down the shaft and were not even close to the pinion. I slide them back with a big screwdriver and they stuck. I wonder if they were ever on there. Guy had gotten engine from EBay. Had not been run much. Man did it have a "pile" of screws to take out to get shell off. Well, she be fixed now. Later
Look what some Rascal erected on my fueling station !! That don't belong up there !!
Afternoon everybody,
Savannah area is under a servere thunderstorm watch with penny size hail and damaging winds. No rain yet, but plenty of thunder in the distance.
Well everybody have good evening, and remeber, RUN SOME TRAINS!!!!!!!

John, Keep a close eye on that layout, someone might sneak in a "vote for the chief" sign.
My wife is home from the air show liked it as always but said they were charging $3.50 for a bottle of water. thats more than a gallon of gas.My daughter called today and wants us to go with them to gatlinburg and dollywood next month. WE said yes its a chance to get away without having to do all the driving and I'll get to see the smokies. I remember last time we went through and down found nothing but campsites. No motels finally found one restaurant that looked safe to eat in.We ate took a short drive on the Blue ridge and went back to tenn.Sure is different from one side to the other. so thats that. Thanks Jim !! I'm watchin' er' like a hawk !! Oh, make sure you get your shots before you go down there !! You'll need that protection !! Gees, do you need to take along a couple us just to be sure you'll be OK ? I'm a good gaurd on rollercoasters !!
Tom, what a great idea! Roseyville needs a light rail to the Capital. I would estimate $10 Million would be a good start for the Roseyville Town Council to collect from the citizens.

sir james I wrote:Ya John its creepy the way that sign just popped up like that. We didn't do Dollywood when we were there but I know my grandsons will want to go. We did go to the one that was in Nashville once I heard it's a shopping center now.property values I guess.(Opryland as I recall).
Aw . You mean Opryland is gone now ? I'm glad my computer is built into my layout !! I can watch & see if any more stuff pops up on it !!
John, You don't think Tenn. is gone do you? I don't want to travel down there after getting my shots and find it's gone.
Have you noticed ebay prices seem higher this summer? they seem to have raised their starting prices.
Everything is starting at $9.99. What's that about?
Tennessee gone??? Hhhmmmm. I think Roseyville may have annexed it. It's now the Charter State of Roseyville. That new Mayor is something else. What's next? Does he think he can relocate Lionel out of Michigan??? He'll have gone too far! He'll have more people after him than voted for him in that "election". I'll tell you what.
John: Shine the Beagle Light! This looks like a job for Flash! If Flash is too busy with the Mayor, perhaps BB the wonder Beagle.

If Tenn. is gone, NC will probably be next to dissapear !! Are you going through there ? I hope not !! You might be better to fly down there, don't take any chances !!
No, I haven't been on E-bay in a while with all the summer stuff going on !! Seems everything is going up, though !!

Yep, that's what I was telling Jim !! We may have to call Batman & Robin too !!
Evening all!
Off to Chicago tomorrow for the LCCA convention. Should be good fun.
Doug - hopefully you'll get the "all clear" and we can meet up for a visit.
Daughter has requested a Mich Ave. Magnificent Mile excursion - $$$
Kurt - I read the 'Bay has been raising fees. Posted fewer customers for the quarter. Profitability was up - but so is competition.
Watching the Busch "bumper" car race.
"Talk" to youz giz in about a week or so.
