Good morning all,

It is another hot day in SE Indiana with temps reaching to the 90s.  Fortunately it will cool off for the weekend, and it was nice last night with our team winning 6-2.  We are 3-0 and in first place in our league.  The only downside is that we have only played teams who have not won a game yet.  Next week may be a better test for us.  I see where the dining car arrived from "Points East" fairly early this morning.  Congrats, Chuck, on 2000 posts!  I have class tonight, and so it will be a long day, but I have tomorrow off as compensation.  Woo-hoo!  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Jim, you have that problem, too?  I never know what he is talking about!!  Of course this makes him all the better politician and mayoral candidate for Roseyville.   BTW, just because he carries that laptop, doesn't mean anything.  He is just passing it off as the boat charger of the future.

Good morning from beautiful Ohio where we are going to see 90 degrees today.  I better water the flowers in the Garden RR.

Heading east today to Granville, OHIO.  Quaint little town that reminds one of the small towns of New England.

The Ducks won the cup.  For us hockey fans, it was sad to see the Senators lose in only five games.

Tomorrow is the last day with kids for Mrs. Buckeye.  Mitch and Laz, how are you doing at your respective zoos?

Fife - the lighting I can get done in 1 day - those are easy projects.  Well except maybe the foyer light... I can even get the kitchen faucet done on the same day.  Garage door openers won't be much of a chore either as there is already one in the garage (old chain drive, noisy as a mama robin protecting her nest), and I can use the existing setup to mirror the new opener - one more day).  That takes care of everything on the top portion of the list.  The Masterbath is at least a two weekend job.  And the basement is a 3 weekend job.

I am looking at tankless water heaters now.  The water tank is huge, probably 50 - 60 gallons, and takes up alot of realestate.  If I can get a tankless heater that can supply the whole house for under $1,000 I'll do it because the utility closet won't need to be a large!  I'll probably also get a small tankless heater to run either the dishwasher or the clothes washer, probably clothes washer since that room is larger, and I'll have more room to work with.

I can be very handy if the job I'm doing is something I am confident in my abilities to complete. Smile [:)]

Jim - The closest major airport to York is Baltimore.  Depending on your schedule I'm sure I could have a room for you!  I only live 1 hour from York! Smile [:)]  And by October 2008 I should have a functioning layout! Smile [:)]

John - got your email and responded.  Definitely interested.

Well got some bad news last night.  Was packing the house and came across my Canon Fish eye lens for my EOSxt Digital Camera... picked up the case and all I heard was broken glass and rattling! Shock [:O]Sad [:(]Angry [:(!] Opened it up and the lens was in 3 pieces and the glass was shattered.  Appears to have either been dropped or something.  Probably damaged in the move from Pittsburgh to Baltimore two years ago (yes this was the first I had handled it in two years).  So looks like it unrepairable and a new one is going to cost a pretty penny... not sure it is worth it to shell out the money for a new one! Disapprove [V] I do have a 'hack job' version that I picked up off EBay (.5 focal length inverter) that attaches to the end of my other two lens, so not a total loss... just frustrating more than anything.

I'm talking to the Chief as I type this. He's on the way to the airport. Sooooo, let's get some shots in at him! We have the whole weekend!

Last night was a train night! After a five star dinner at McDonalds with the kids, we went to the local train store for OGR 222. The boys talked me into buying some IHC undecorated HO streamliners for their Santa Fes. $9.00 each! Then we came across a junk box filled with old HO cars. We found one with a speaker in it. $3.00. Took it home and put a battery in it. It makes chuffing noises when the car rolls!

Once home, I decaled my K-Line Pacific's tender for Boston and Maine. Then as a final touch, I added a real coal load over the molded in coal. Yeah baby!!! This has turned into a replica of B&M loco 3713, which is now being restored at Steamtown in PA.  It's gonna pull some freight tonight!

Chief just hung up to board his plane. I wonder what he was talking about! Wink [;)]

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 68 degrees. Going up to 92 today. Wow. It's gonna be a hot day.

Up earlier than usual today. Wife has to be ready to go by 8:00. She is being picked up by niece, to go to Columbus Zoo. Little 4 year old should enjoy it. I am staying home to mow front yard this morning and sit in the shade this afternoon. Should be a quiet day.

Chief....Have a safe flight.

2000 posts. Big Smile [:D]

Well, the Dining Car is here early and ready for breakfast. Then, it is off to " points west ". Talk more later.

Y'all have a great Thursday.

Morning All.

Brewed a fresh pot, and ate a little something. Weather is beautiful again today. Need to get the grass cut tonight.  The boy says he's going to do it....we'll see...

No train time last night as I did not get home until almost 7:00, we had dinner and then I sat down to work the crossword.  Next thing I knew, the Mrs. was hollerin' at me to get up and come to bed. Guess I am just an old fogey, to bed at sunset and then up before the chickens.

Have a great day.

Have a good safe flight Chief.  Don't let them get the best of you out there.

It would be good if we can all get together for the BPS opening.  Can you ask the folks at BPS to have a tray of Grits when they bring all that food out.  Just kidding.  I am sure we will have fun.   Wife is up for a visit to MIL's, I just need to make sure that I don't have to cover someone else's call that weekend.

Dr. John, our church just announced the title of the next movie "Firestorm".  We will begin shooting in the fall.  I have no idea what I will do in it or what my involvement will be, but I do plan to be a part of what God will do with it.  I will let you know details when I can.

HOpe everyone has a great night.  Already late here, and I need sleep.
God Bless,

Dennis

Fife - I would love to go to York this year, but it's not in the cards.  Next year I can budget my $$$ and annual leave and maybe make the 2nd one....  What airport is near the York meeting?  Maybe I can look it up and figure out what it would cost.  I need to email the Ozark division secretary and find out what's going on around here.

Yes we are in the high desert as opposed to Palm Springs which is the lower desert. I live on the outskirts of Wrightwood which is a mountain resort here. We are in a nice climate with mild to hot temperatures during the summer months. The nicest thing is that we are away from the smog that we lived in when we lived down in Riverside County. We may have dirt but not a lot of smog.

It sounds much like the climate where my youngest daughter lives.  Dove Creek, CO., Southwest Colorado, near the four corners area, about 7,000'.  I could live there, not much grass to mow. Smile [:)]

We haven't been to Wrightwood in years. When the snow was good we could throw our stuff on the roof rack and be skiing in an hour and a half, unless of course the CHP was watching. Whistling [:-^] Unfortunately after a few consecutive years of little snow they started Way Overselling the mountains capacity during good times. The LAST time we went, way to many skiers and way to few ski patrol, some kamakazi came down the hill and crashed into my daughter so hard it actually de-lamonated the tail of one of her skis and cracked the shell of one boot. Censored [censored] Eventually we ended saying the heck with it and started going to Park City, it's just a lttle bit more of a drive but Las Vegas is close enuff to mid-way to justify a pit-stop. Misty, The next time you guys are down this way be sure to give a holler, we can work out a visit to the museum. Thumbs Up [tup]

Doug, we only visit Wrightwood during the summer now since during the winter, the traffic is horrible. Well, except for this winter since we didn't get any snow! Besides, I prefer the Vegas or Laughlin thing....sometimes feel we live a little too close to it Wink [;)]

We took the kids to the zoo so I know we were right there near the museum. We actually walked down as far as the Natural History museum but my 2 yr old was pretty tuckered out so didn't make it to the train museum however, it is first on our list of summer activities (school is out on Friday, yippee!) so I will definitely let you know when we make it down there. I can't wait to see it!

Okay Zeke look at it this way then you put the track up on ebay (if you don't want it ) starting at $9.99 and let it go ($10.00 goest to next level in starting fees) Same with transformer, cars indivually and then the engine listed as for parts tell them what the guess is by mth but who knows someone may want it for parts value either way I bet you would get you money back plus.

Morning.  Let me get these said or I will forget.

Dr. John, Prattsville BPS Grand Opening is Aug 16 thru 19. [request is in]

Jimbo, argue, takes after DAD.

100 year rain event, we had 4 last year and one this year.  Our Storm Water Comm. is think about changing the volume of 100 year events and making the present 100 year events 25 year.

7:30 AM breakfast in the park across the street.  Legislators [to nice ladies, wife says one is my girlfriend Wink [;)] and she's joking].

Found three BIG fireant nests along sidewalk on park side.  Checked the yard here and none so far.  Maybe the grandulars I broadcast this spring is working.  Lowes screwed up on that one last fall.  $6 per bag and Walmart was selling it on sale for $20 per bag.  I stocked up.  It is some kind of preventive.

Grass to mow for a change.  We had 3 tenths of rain last night late.  Squash and cucumbers are producing.  Tomatoes growing.  Train time too.  Got to pack for EARLY flight to Phoenix tomorrow [glad I got BIG seats].

Later.
