Good Morning everyone. Watching Trains and Locomotives on RFD. Today's episode is on the Chessie Safety Express, with the 614 excursion runs of the early 80s. The videographers did a good job in that many of the scenes have older buildings in the background. Lots of nice shots. They also had a clip on the Baltimore roundhouse fire.
Still not sure what we will be doing today. Was quite a storm last night with plenty of rain. While we won't have to water the trees today, I hope the firefighters fighting the forest fires got some relief.
Hope to get some wiring done on the layout tonight. This past week took it's toll on me and I am still tired.

Morning all,
Jim - The Krylon paint is great. There are some that are dead ringers for a color match for the old American Flyer accessories. And I can tolerate a slight color difference when you look at 99 cents compaired to $19 + for original color.
Buckeye - Wish I had thought to ask about train shops where we were going earlier; there is one train shop in near Portsmouth as far as I know. Went to Henni cheese for the first time. Came out with $40 in cheese. Really good cheese.
Roy- I feel your pain with your daughter's new licence. Youngest daughter had licence a week before first accident, oldest 10 months. If you decide to get her a car, if I may reccomend, find an older tank (i.e. Delta 88, Caprice, Caddy anything full size). Reason, lots of protection, and it is not "cool" so it becomes "essential trip transportation", not joy ride cruise the strip car. Been there done that got the tee shirt.
Zeke & John - I love my 96 2500 GMC truck. It has the 6.5 turbo diesel. Easily pulls my 29' fifthwheel, and on our recent trip got 21 MPG.
I got word last Wednesday that I am being re-assigned to a straight day job. Some staff re-alignments created a need so I received an un-soliceted promotion to "interum" plant training manager. Since we're transitioning from prototype to comercial plant, there is going to be a big influx of personnel. Not really what I had in mind at this point, but hey if God leads you to it, he will lead you through it. It will be an increase demand on my time since I had a similar role years ago before I returned to operations.
Got to go
May God bless
Jim
Good morning everyone,
Exams are almost done, I have two more left on Monday, and then they're done. I am going to be so happy to get all that stress away from me. Two days after school is done, I go to Florida with my family.
I'm heading to the doctor today. We're trying to figure out why I've had this cough for two weeks without any other symptoms. We know that I don't have allergies, so we're at a dead end.
I hope everyone has a good day, and I'll try to check in later.

Morning to All,
Lots of folks up early today. Last night we went to dinner and then to see Knocked Up with the Mrs. & the Boy (The Mrs. wanted to see it). some funny parts but too much pot smokin' & drug humor for my tastes. The Mrs. was flabbergasted at all the skin and booze/drug humor. She thought it should have been x-rated. She has led a sheltered life. She'd probably die if she ever saw a real X-rated movie.
Going to a retirement party for a lady I worked with at the very beginning of my career. She's a few years older than me though. She and her hubby are leaving Maryland and moving to Texas to be closer to a son and grandkids.
Have a great day.

zeke - Hey, brother, didn't see you sitting there. Good night.
Blueberryhill - your boy is starting outside row 3 tomorrow. Gibbs teams have been strong at POCONO as of late.
88 - I'd like to try late fall for Cumberland. The Narrows is covered with evergreens on the hill. I can still run trains for the time being.
Laz57 - Did you get your invitation for the Soprano's farewell party at the Hard Rock Cafe in FL tomorrow night...?

Jim Fortner wrote:Thanks for the extra info John (jefelectric) and I'll print this out for reference. Got Chewy to the vet, 12.3 pounds of sniveling snarling white hot ball of canine terror! She was great even when they took blood, put goop up her nose, and then shots! But, she didn't like getting her nails clipped. Went to meet wife at Ford dealer so she could drop off van to be serviced, but they were booked and wouldn't take it. So, then got a coupon from LHS, spend $50 get $10 off. 20 percent off is my price, but this is the one with less and less and less O gauge. I picked up a work caboose and graduated trestle set, plus some little ornamental dolls for my daughter and pokemon cards for my son. Next, came home and ran my train with my daughter, adding cars to see how many it would pull. It did great for like 20 minutes and then problems - please see other thread I started. Oh well, I hope I can get it fixed cheap. It was a very inexpensive locomotive for $89 so I'll try and see what I can do myself. TTFN
Good morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a clear, sunny 60 degrees. Going up o 80 today with less humidity and no rain. Got about 2 hours of rain yesterday.
Today, I have a few chores to do around the house. Grass is cut and weeded. Could be an easy day. I think I will take some pictures outside and take a walk. I need to take some time for trains. They need a dusting again. Maybe this afternoon.
Dining Car has arrived with full stock. " Points west " has left a lot for the choosing. Time for breakfast.
Y'all have a great Saturday.

hey everyone,
hey john your right these old trucks are great, except at the pumps....$3.09 today
feel much better after a short nap....
i have a question and thought id ask here first....
my mth-it was said that a wiliams board could go it in. Is there anyone here that would do this for me. I pay for parts shipping and a 6 pack or whatever agreed upon. I dont want to take on this task it sounds complicated. but if its not gonna cost an arm and a leg id like to see it run!
I have a question for those of you who are affectionately referred to as "Computer Geeks". What I laffingly call my computer knowledge is extremely obsolete . 15yrs or so.
Now, my question is "What is required, simplified version please, to do a webcast" ? We now have hi-speed net access at the museum which was initially intended for wireless use but there was a frequency difficulty with the "ChooChoo Cam". One of our members is donating some new hardware but we won't have wireless capability, but we will be able to multi-computer access thru ethernet cabling.
Call me KOOKOO but if it can be done w/o hi-cost hardware it would be way cool, showing my age, to have computer cam broadcast from several places on the layout thruout the day.

Good evening all,
It was a beautiful day in SE Indiana with temps dropping into the 70s. I had the day off due to a four day work week, and so I did the housework and Lucas and I got the yard mowed. All the chores are done and the temps should be good tomorrow to run trains in the attic. My wife and I went to see "Pirates of the Cariibbean". It was long and a little bit confusing, but it was good. They had qualifying for the IRL race in Texas and somebody other than Team Green or Team Red claimed pole position (Scott Sharp). Bran muffins were on the dining car this morning for breakfast for "Points East". I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana

That's good for gas, Jim. Lowest here, lately, has been $2.99.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
What a storm we are having! They are calling for 6". On our way home from Sushi, you could see the black clouds coming in and then the hail started. Hopefully we won't get flooded out.
Not sure what we have on the adgenda this weekend, SWMBO has not revealed the list.
Hope everyone has a good one.
I will have had my Dakota pickup for eleven years come this August. It has served well but it is reaching the end of its career. Had the transmission rebuilt a while ago and it is acting up again. Since it is the third vehicle, it doesn't get a whole lot of attention these days.
Had lots of storms earlier today. Fortunately not same results as last Friday. Spent that night at work restoring remote data communications after a lightning strike. Got most of it operational early Saturday.
Watching the Cubs beat up on the Braves. Soriano just hit his third home run of the game. Three At-Bats, three home-runs.
Good evening,
Zeke, That truck sounds like a great deal. It does help to be able to make your own mechanical repairs. I drive a Dakota PU all the time, only problem is it can't pass a gas station without stopping.
Don, I did comment on your newest plan, looks good. Time to stop planning and start building!
Jim, You will want to plan on being here for the day before York. TCA has an openhouse that day and the other magazine sponsors bus trips to the Weaver plant in Oct. and MTH & Tony Lash in Apr. At least they have for a couple of years, don't really know if they are going to continue doing that, but they have it planned for Oct this year. Of course you can only do one of these events each time so you have to come several times.
Chief, Sound like you are enjoying your trip. Do they serve GRITS at the Holiday Inn?
Ugh, a couple of weeks ago I stopped at the LHS and bought the last K-line rubber diaphrams they had, to put between the units of my LNE FA-1s, that I am converting to TMCC. Now I can't find them. Looked for over an hour. I did find a set of drill bits that I was looking for last week. I'm at my wits end where to look next. Don't you just love it when this happens?
Laz, Congrats on surviving another year!
Take care all,

I'll need to shop around and see about combo deals, so will have to probably line stuff up before October of this year for next year.Just brought this up with my wife and she indicated that next year in Oct would probably be doable, so I'll say count me in for 2008!Chief, hope your room is okay other than the computer link. Don't lie on top of the bedspread - they never clean that and you can get the creeping crud!

Jim, The York dates for 2008 are April 17-19 and October 16-18. If you fly into Harrisburg there are some motels along 83 South between Hbg & York.
paris whos that....?
hey i encountered a miracle today.....i planned on going to dmv real early this mornign but over slept. I showed up around 11 am and the lines were insane....but i want to get this down i have some junk to haul and the city is having a free dump time this weekend...so i stand pull a # i am #195 and they are on #60.. so i sit and wait...and you know what they went from 60 to 135 in about 35 minutes...so i was done within 45 minutes total...that is a miracle..also went to the autozone picked up a master cylinder and a new caliper and fluids all for like 50 bucks...got to love older trucks...cheap parts...sometimes...

Thanks for the warning Roy, I will stay off the sidewalks. Just kidding. Hope she does well. Been a long day, hoping to go out for sushi tonight and then to bed. Hope Y'all have a great night......Better to play with trains than watch TV, it's all Paris in Jail.
