DANGER WILL ROBINSON!

Sigh [sigh]

My daughter is out driving on her own and the ink on her license is not even dry yet!

Avoid the area at all costs!

OK - Got my layout plans posted.  Started a thread called "CRITICAL INPUT NEEDED!  Starting to build this W/E"

So check it out and comment....  It will probably roll off rather quickly.

Thanks,

Started out very humid and muggy and then the dry line of a front just passed and bot is it nice outside! 93 today I think.

Gotta run - party tonight for the newly licensed driver in the McClellan household!

JIM the burro crane runs for ward and backwards has a track trip that hits a switch and makes it change directions.  Also the cab will move around.  Pretty cool.

Don,
Yeah I've heard those stories before!  LOL!

Actually I have to get the list done... the projects on it are all MY ideas and if I don't get them done well... lets just say I would never live it down!  LOL!

I also have most of the materials purchased (lighting, faucets, etc) so if I want space in the garage for my MANLY things then I have to get the projects done!  LOL!  I was informed yesterday that we will not be going to the John Deere store to pick out the new lawn tractor till I have all the lighting done, and have the work in the kitchen completed... Shock [:O]Disapprove [V] Since I can't let the Chief down, again I have to get the projects done.  Wife wants a tile backsplash installed in the kitchen (not part of required project list), and since I feel it should match the flooring (would look stupid to have white tile, black granite counters, and some other color back splash) we have decided to replace the kitchen floor as well! Banged Head [banghead] So there, I just got two more projects on the list.  Then she informs me that she doesn't want carpet anywhere on the first floor except in the family room.  That means one more project - replace carpet in dining room and living room with hardwood floors (and yes hardwood, I can't stand laminant).  Then I have to install a door bell, stain the deck, replace some wood trim around the family room windows and door with trex wood (don't want to have more maintenance), and install a phone jack in the foyer for a fancy phone the wife bought to go with her tiffany lamp! Sigh [sigh]  Then I remembered that the garage needs to have insulation installed on the exterior wall and garage door wall and then have drywall installed, so one more project... in all I now have 21 projects on my list... 12 of which I want to get done next weekend... Smile [:)]

Brent - The reason I said about keeping a copy of that list, is that intentions, time estimations are typically understated.  If you are like me I plan a lot of things and drive the family nuts.  For vacations I usually have plans A, B, C, & D, then a contingency.  Comes from my days in Program Management.  Also, you may be aware of an old challenge that is somewhat similiar.  If when you got married you had say a glass jar, and everytime for the first year you put a bean (or something) in that jar on those special intimate occasions.  And then, after the 1st year, for each occassion take one of the beans out.  Allegedly, you would never empty the jar.  Similiar to your list.  Anything like me, that list will never be completed.

Jim, - No big deal, I was able to recover everything.  That guy singing was the killer, more ways than one.  I do enjoy your emails, they can break up a day.  After I got the server back, I checked the trash bin on my computer.  It had over 24,000 emails.  The system couldn't handle that many for deletion, took me two hours to incrementaly delete them.

I will post a plan today, of the layout.  BTW this is version H3d, I have done over 200 designs on the current edtion.  ANALYSIS PARALYSIS

Did you know about the train store in Sugar Creek?   There is also one in Dover.

The only store I have ever been to in Sugar Creek was very very small.  Is this the one you are referring to?

If you are referring to "Great Time Hobbies" in Dover,  I thought that store closed a while ago.  Where they were located right next to Rt 250 is now a carpet store I believe.

Don - post your new plan?  Hey, sorry, I guess I spammed you - I got back some reports that emails weren't delivered cause your box was full.

Laz - congrats on the borro crane.  Do they have any action?  I think I read somewhere that they swing back and forth or something?  Or am I thinking of a different car?  Congrats too -- School's Out For Summer!

Ran train last night with no pile up, of course just one train running!  I guess I'm not too smart, because the family was out for 2 nights and I could have been running with smoke the whole time!  Doh!!!  Dunce [D)]

Off work today since no sitter, so watching the kids.  We were watching volume 2 of Addams Family dvds and they had a great scene with Gomez and Ophelia running the trains and then blowing them up.  Thing had an emergency power shutoff for the entire layout!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Can't remember where I am on the 1688E list! Confused [%-)]

I know I'm behind Jim somewhere... and like him I expect mine to be hand delivered! Wink [;)]  LOL!

Don,
I have a copy printed already.  After I posted it here I copied it and sent it to the wife - who subsequently added two projects to the list, one of which I don't remember discussing.  And since it has grown again... now up to 21 projects.

When it is all said and done the value of the house will go up substantially, so it will be worth the effort.

Looking forward to getting in and getting started... the little projects are the most visible ones and more or less enhance the look of the house... the larger projects add to the look as well as value... Smile [:)]

Keith,  I can send you a pre-paid shipping label.  All you would need to do is apply the label and give the package to any Fed Ex driver, or drop it off at a Kinko's or Fed Ex pick up point.  Heck, they would even come and get it!  I could send the label to the same address I sent the engine to, let me know.  (I should be at work in about an hour if you tried calling).

Hello All!     Don B-   I was wondering if you recieved my e-mail. Anyway, when Fred Calls & lets me know when to pick it up I'll do so & let you know. I'm thinking about shipping the 1688E & Tender in seperate, individual boxes all wrapped up in tissue paper & then put the two boxes in a larger corrugated cardboard box with foam peanuts for better protection for the journey out west. Wish I could hand deliver them myself so I know they'll get to you safely. I'll see what kind of Boxes Fred has on hand & take it from there.  Zeke- Jeff at the Train Tender should have the Rubber Tires you need for your Diesel. Give him a call at: 1-585-229-2050 & he has other parts you may need also & has excellent shipping as well. Be sure to let him know the Number of the Diesel you working on. e.g. 613,617,etc. Buckeye- Someday, You might visit a city where the Hotel you're staying at is located on 'Eagles or Chief" St.Wink [;)]Wink [;)]Cool [8D] Take Care

Good Morning all - Been review my layout plans made a couple of changes, ends up being much "cleaner", less expensive regarding switches, and holds more stock.  Having a graduation party on the 20th, so having to decide whether I start now and risk not having ANY train running for the party or waiting till afterwards to start the layout.

Got word that the MTH SD4400's that was ordered in Dec. is in and will be shipping!!

BTW Chief - The name of the airport is Sky Harbor.

Havn't seen or heard from Kevin in a while, hope he isn't snowed in

Hello All!    Don B-    I've got great news for you!  Your 1688E & Tender are painted & assembled. Fred will let me know what you owe for them & I'll send an e-mail or post here what you owe & when I'll ship them out to you. You will be very happy with the 1688E & it will look 100% better than when you last saw it. It has new original stock Drive Wheels,Pickup Shoe Plate, Marker Lights, A new Headlight Lens & the E-Unit is rebuilt also. Beware though!

Keith, did you try to send an email?  If so I havn't received it. I tried email you but it came back.  We did have a slight email problem here, my incomng was max'ed out.  Received a bunch of video messages that filled up the server, got that all cleared up.  So please resend it or call me at 800 786-9272, work phone number.  I would rather not post my home number on the web, but I can email that number to you.

Brent, keep a copy of that list you did, it will be very interesting when THAT list is completed, without adding anything to it!  Make sure that it is dated, and especially with the year notated.

Glad its Friday!!!  Talk later.

Last Friday post before the big move!  6 days!

I won't be on the board after next Thursday till the move is complete on Tuesday... so no talking about me! Wink [;)]

Got some good news - new furniture delivery people won't be there till Tuesday, so that gives me time to get the little projects done and some painting before the new Family Room sofa arrives (no temptations to lay down and watch some DirecTV HD)... found out that the sofa was built in Italy and covered with soft Italian leather!  AHHHHHH.......  So I will finally have a sofa to Zzz [zzz] on while I am watching movies... hopefully this will not lead to delays in constructing the layout...

Laz - congrats on surviving one more year of school!

Mitch - almost done... almost done... Smile [:)]

I see Chief has found another monument to his arch nemisis Buckeye - although this time he can walk all over it! Shock [:O] Poor Buckeye...

I see Mr Fife hasn't posted in 24 hours... must mean he was in the basement working on the much long awaited layout expansion... wonder if he will finish before I get mine started?  Wonder if Chief will finish his before I finish mine!  AND THE RACE IS ON!!!! Smile [:)]

Are you really going to paint that bridge blue? I've had great results with Krylon spray paint.  It dries very fast and is pretty durable. I just repainted a K-Line locomotive with Krylon, and it looks incredible. Like a factory finish. Easy to use and cheap cheap cheap if you buy it at WalMart. Clean and degrease the bridge before painting. Mineral spirits or a good household cleaner work great!

Yes, Blue.  I saw a really nice dark blue  ( Krylon ) and I think it would look nice. The gold decals on the ends will look great with blue. I'm going to clean it with mineral spirits and then a coat of primer.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 70 degrees. Going up to 88 today with sunshine early and then a chance of a late afternoon thundershower. Hope not.

Today, I have a few things to do around the house and I will take it easy the rest of the day. Still have to get the paint for my bridge and start the cleaning. Hope to get it done by the end of this month.

Buckeye...We go up to Dover and Walnut Creek at least once a year. I agree, the Walther's Museum is great to see. I have to check out that hobby store in Sugar Creek.

Dining car has arrived and it's time for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Friday.

Good morning from New England!

No train action last night. The wife was home and her family came over for dinner. But I did briefly go downstairs to look at my new hottie, that K-Line Pacific in B&M livery! Looks good! Now I wish I had taken some photos before I painted it!

That's it. Not much else going on.

Morning to All,

Brewed a freshpot, nice and strong to get the day kicked in gear. Either Buckeye was up extra early or he was very late going to bed.  Probably busy keeping an eye on you know who.....

Zeke - congrats on the truck - everybody needs a truck.  My son has an old beater, a Dodge Dakota that has seen better days but it keeps on runnin.  Hopefully it will last one more year till he's finished grad school

Buckeye - we have 5 more days with the darlings and one etra with the teachers. This summer is going to be a mess moving everyone because of the renovation and addition that is almost finished.

LAZ - last day for you,  right?? - Hooray

Jim Fortner - sounds like a plan. We'll see you in York, October 16, 17, 18 in 2008.  Might want to come a day or so earlier to see some of the sights. Don Baker might be a good source since he made the trip in April for the first time.

Well I better get going.

Take care,

Jim, I agree.  The Warther Carvings are unbelievable.  We go to Holmes County at least three or four times a year.  Coblentz Chocolates, Miller's Bakery, Henni Cheese, Leheman Hardware and Berlin Christmas Store are all places we stop.  Did you know about the train store in Sugar Creek?   There is also one in Dover.

Jim,  Harrisburg, HIA, is the closest, but I am sure you will find Baltimore is the cheapest to fly to.  About 1.5 hour drive to York.  York doesn't have a lot of motel/hotels.  A lot stay in the Lancaster area which is another half hour beyond York.  The Fall show is a little bigger in my opinion.

Actually, HIA seemed like it was a little cheaper and closer (42 minutes per google???) to York PA.  I'll need to shop around and see about combo deals, so will have to probably line stuff up before October of this year for next year.

Just brought this up with my wife and she indicated that next year in Oct would probably be doable, so I'll say count me in for 2008!

Chief, hope your room is okay other than the computer link.  Don't lie on top of the bedspread - they never clean that and you can get the creeping crud!
