Good morning from a sunny and warm Chicago where I rode the water taxi all the way to the end of the river - in lieu of getting to work right away. What a delightful way to begin a day. I am jealous though  - an acquaintance works at a small firm recently acquired by Google -he's now a googlilliniaire

Jim F, that beautiful CNJ boxcab has third rail shoes instead of pantagraphs - see 'em by the trucks in the picture.

Nope not the cowboy model, I wish, Love the octagon barrel.  Got it cause I have a Colt .357 Python and figured I could hunt with both and shoot with 38s too.

That boxcab is extremely cool.

Off to the coast to pick up my son from camp. A good day to everyone. Did get a little train action in this AM. Turns out my Plymouth Switcher runs just fine in tandem with my BEEP. My postwar cars continue to experience coupler failure caused by apparently anything - a change in air pressure, a passing sigh, whatever. Sheesh.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 60 degrees. Going up to 84 today with mostly sunshine.

Today is a chores around the house day. I have to run a few errands, later, and get ready for the trip North, tomorrow. Gas prices have come down to $2.79 a gallon. Still too high. I got a lot done yesterday. I'm glad the bridge painting is done. Now, to put it back on the layout. I think I will try some tubular track on it, to see how it looks. I'll have to take some pictures.

Well, Dining Car is here and ready for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Friday. John ( csxt30 )....Enjoy !!

Good morning from New England!

New carpet installed yesterday looks great. Chuck's blueberry bridge looks great. I'm not wearing underpants and I feel great!

My sunburn from a few weeks back is finally beginning to peel.

Buckeye, what is wrong with you?! You don't give a case of beer to a kid who just got arrested for DUI! Disapprove [V] How wrong of you to even suggest such a thing! Clearly a nickle bag of hemp or maybe a couple grams of coke are called for under these circustances, but not more alchohol.

Only 4 days until the Roseyville Rascal makes his pilgrimage to the North. He loves it up here. so much so that every time we hook up, he grabs a bunch of real estate flyers and booklets. He's looking to move up!

Morning to All

A fresh pot is in the burner. Today is the last day with teachers. We will have a big picnic with lots of good food.  I'll grill some burgers and we're having steamed shrimp. Yum.  I have two teachers retiring after 32 and 36 years respectively.  Both are top-notch.  We'll miss them greatly. Then I have about a week and a half of training before I get to start the new job in earnest.

Take care.

0930GMT in a very wet and windy Stockport, temperature down from 26C Monday to 14C today, I would love to donate a few drops to you guys in NC, TX. The middle of the country is suffering floods with disruption to rail and road. As the Armoury and I are 90 metres above sea level, the Robinsons is in no danger (Friday I can play out untill late and drink as much of the foaming brown stuff as I want! hic!).

Talk about daft; Just seen an item in our press about a town in Louisianna that has banned the wearing of tight trowsers that show the outline of the underwear, in this enlightened age the good bourgers will fine you $1,000.00 or lock you away for 6 months if you disobey. Is it me? Or is the world really going to end in 2012? It probably should end in 2011! Then we will be spared the utter stupididy of the olympics being held here, it's acting like when someone steals the plug from a bath full of beer and the joy-juice dos a dissappearing act. Money is vanishing into its gaping maw and depriving the country of cash to prop up our crumbling infrastructure.

Cheif, Any chance of us getting a few million tons of grits to repair our sea defences?

I'm so fed up, I can't be bothered to do any smileys.

Damn! And now the spell checker has vanished. Thood and blunder!!!!

Worked on MTH dummy and itws smoke unit.  Had some very small LEDs I bought a year ago.  Put them in the dummy for headlights.  Bright!!!!!!!!  Got smoke bracket fixed for Atlas dummy.  Out of right size bolts so will wait until tomorrow.  Switched out the Atlas SD40's [high noses] as been running them a lot.  Put in the Atlas GP60 and the MTH Conrail dummy.  Put the Conrail first and running the GP60 in reverse.  MTH Conrail wants to uncouple with a heavy train.  Can't trust it.  anyone got a fix for this [got some MTH cars that do the same [so have to put them at the back of the consist].  Bed time.

Evening John,   Sounds like some stuff is being shipped. My local shop is 8 miles from Lionel so he does a good job at being kept informed, but at the moment its Zip. maybe to early in the month as they tend to ship closer to the end. Did you get any of the rain that went through Pa.? We need some but nothing, now it's maybe next week. every one enjoy your eve.

  • Cool John, is that an electric?  Does it have catenary on top?  Good evening from Arnold, where it got pretty darn warm today and still no rain this week.  I think Chief needs to "close the door"!  He's spreading the drought from Roseyville to Arnold!  Shock [:O]  Got a line on some 022 switches and hope it works out!

Guys, Buckey was not serious about gving the case of Coors.

Hey, where is Lisa?  Got an email from her but haven't seen any posts. Question [?]

Brent, John F is the Pro that can help you with that wiring or I am the Am that can.  Really easy but be careful where you stick your fingers. Shock [:O]

Hope your not on city water or your going to have one heck of a water bill and if your on well you still may bump the electric bill a bit as the pump running all night and day.

not a bad deal though. My father figured out it was cheaper to have a tank truck bring the water in from a local quarrey when we got ours when i was a kid.

NO WAY! Buckeye, if he was stupid enough to get a DUI on his own, I wouldn't help him with a problem.  Besides, if he does it after drinking the Coors, you could get charged for contributing to the delinquency of a minor.

On a sad note, Billy Graham's wife Ruth died today at 5pm.  Regardless of your religeous affiliations, Mr. Graham has been good man who has helped many, many peole over the years and helped by a good wife.

Did some cleaning up in the train room tonight.  Threw out a bunch of outer shipping cartons for Lionel track, accessories and train sets.  Took up a good bit of space and as my bride would know all too well, I need the space!

Hope everyone has a good night.

He doesn't deserve Coors - that usually calls for more serious charges - I think these are at the level of Pabst Blue Ribbon instead.

Good afternoon from a sunny and hot Crystal Lake where it is a quiet day at "work" - thank goodness for air conditioning and basements - ran trolleys for a while  - I have my hill backdrops falling off the plastic backdrop wrapper and gently draping the track - I am going to try clips instead of tape. You know, I have tried just about everything on that list of good foods - sounds like the McHenry County Fair.
