Hidey Ho everybody and so to the end of another Father's Day.  88 - glad to hear you are moved okay and had a good anniversary.  Hope your mail is showing up at the new house already!  Lisa, I pray your husband will be healed soon.  Got a dvd recorder and my son is overjoyed that he'll be able to record all those great episodes of pokemon (groan)!  Needed to hook to cable with composite cables - okay, except then this device has to be on for signal to go through.  I ordered some RCA Y cables to split this off through Amazon.  Of course, they didn't have any at BB unless you want to spend $60 to hook up 3 cables.  Also ordered the CTT book on modern train maintenance and repair with 2 day shipping.  BTW: Thanks for the info RT, I'll look into that - got your email.  Took kids to see Fantastic Four, which was pretty good, although I expected Galactus to be more anthropomorphic.  Then we had a pizza party for just the 3 of us.  Oh, and I order the plasticville library for my rrtracks program.  Anyway, a great day, except that my wife is TDY to Washington for a couple days Disapprove [V]

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]Happy Father's Day....Y'ALL! Wife made some wonderful Biscuits and Sausage Gravey this morning...YUM, YUM!  Then to church and out for lunch.  I slept a bit this afternoon and am all recovered.  I changed two of the bathroom light switches to switches with a dimmer attachment.  For those who have to wake in the middle of the night for a trip to the restroom, you will appreciate these.  Lets you do your business without the blinding light.

Reggie: Congratulations on your first Father's Day!  Please post some photos of your little girl.

Zeke, speaking of places that lend themselves to trouble, do you remember a place by Ft. Benning called "Memory Lane"?  Anyway, it was often the scene of fights amoung military and locals.  The base commander ordered it off limits and it has since closed.  A few other spots have met the same fate.  Columbus used to have the most strip joints per square mile than any place in the country, but they have passed some laws and put most out of business.

Don, I need to talk to you about a Epson printer and the driver for the computer.  I will email you.  As for your track, from what I have heard/read, you shouldn't need to remove the black on the center rail of gargraves or atlas, but most folks had problems with MTH's black rails.  It has to do with the blackening process, but I don't recall the specifics.

Lisa, good to hear from you.  Will keep you in my prayers for hubby to be recovered soon and for you to be blessed in all ways.

Misty, Thanks for the kind thoughts.  It is really special being a Father.  To be loved so much by our children and to know that they look up to us and to us for everything.

Hope everyone has a good night,

Dennis

While I'm in the Army band and was quite proficient before joining the Army, there is a six month AIT for Army, Navy and Marines. It is a music school. I was bored out of my mind there as I have somewhat of a college background. There are some "musicians" that do need this training.

Good evening,

Zeke, Their is a buy/sell/wanted board on the other forum.  You can offer things for free, it doesn't cost anything to list stuff.

Do you ever attend the train show in Tinndimoniam (sp?) Maryland. The Great Scale Train show I believe it is called. I went to it after not attending a show in a while. Made up for lost times and bought lots of trains including a 2333, 2328 and a Williams Wabash FM. Nice show, lots of opperating layouts. Congrats on the 1500 posts.

Good Evening,

Zeke - You have done us proud!  Keep up the good work!

Jim - You asked about Chris and the Air Horns, honestly I had forgotton about them.  Havn't heard much, but don't seem to see him a lot either.  Asked him, and they are working, he hasn't used them alot I guess.  I sure would have!

Gtetting ready for a Grad party here, on Tuesday night.  So trying to get a surface on the bench work I had started.  And, setting up some display track.  Got that done, but seem to have a problem.

I have a significant amount of old Gargraves Phantom track.  Was primairly used on shelves.  Some engines work OK, others not.  So need to do the normal, improve electrical connections and clean track.  But, with the application of DCS and TMCC does the "black" coating need to be removed?  I suspect so, huh?

What is really strange is the Headlight seems to have burned out on the N&W J Serries.  Kind of surprisies me, I don't hink there is 3 hours running time on that engine.

Considering trying a download of PS2 files, MTH of course sayes it shouldn't be a problem.  But LHS says stay away from it, unless you REALLY have too!  A little aprehensive, will have to see.  also, want to get some photos up on the Photo Fun.

Glad your having a good time Roy!

Too tired to continue, more tomorrow.

Don, Are you sure you just didn't turn it off accidently?

I know what you mean, zeke. The ait kids are everywhere, got to wait in line forever on the weekends at the PX. Then you also have to be carefull about the pretty girls outside of base, could be an ait student. You never know and got to be carefull. I've heard many stories like yours. If it was me, there would be lots more restrictions on soldiers in training.

I was 1st Infantry at first stationed at fort benning i was in a support infantry division. Then went to 3rd Id in fort benning again. Thats when we got attached to  77 f unit, i cant rember right now but we gaurded their fuel training facility . We Gaurded thier 5000 gl tankers, i mainly gaurded an area were they main fuel lines and then like 6-8 running off those...been almost 11 yrs , memory isnt to sharp. i have some pics i will send ya. if i can find them. The roach coach came threw frequently. Thats also were i trained to be a parachute rigger I believe, sometimes part of my military carrer is a blur, i been on quite a few bases, been attached to various differnat units. If i find them pics im sure i will rember more.

one word of advice, on the weekends when the ait students are free running around, dont hang out at the bowling alley. I lost a rank there. I was just there bowling by my self and som ait kid comes b me and started a fight with me. Just walked up and punched me. Didnt know him (only been there half a day at that point) So being hot tempered when i was young i fought back. Bad decision. Gets rowdy there. They dont like fighting, go figure...

Good morning from a muggy Crystal Lake where I have finished work at church for the day - lazed around the afternoon reading the paper - and now beginning to prep for grilling... Have to participate in my annual Fathers Day basketball game with me vs. all three kids. I haven't lost yet - this may be their year with the temp in the 90s.

I'm enjoying browsing through the Toonerville trolley cartoon book - interesting trolley layout ideas there. I'll take it to jury duty tomorrow - I'm actually looking forward to an out-of the-ordinary day up at the county courthouse. Hope I don't get picked though - my next class allegedly starts tomorrow night. Happy Fathers Day to those of you blessed enough to be a dad.

Zeke, not sure you would like Burning Man - it's a freaky event in the middle of the honest-to-goodness desert with lots of odd.... art and artists. It culminates with the burning of a large humanoid art thingie - different every year. Browse the past year blogs...

GEE Roy, I'm sorry you had to start Father's Day off with grits.   Laugh [(-D]

Tired today after working the City's festival.  Watered lawn today and sprayed for ants.

Tonight is the neighborhood movie.  We put a screen up on the side of my house and the neighbor with computer projector loads it up and it is movie night.

Cool under the bridge today.
