Good Morning Folks.

Zeke- Thanks for the fresh pot.  It was nice grabbing a cup without having to wait for it to finish brewing.

Busy with work that last few days.  My uncle passed away.  He was 86 or so, WWII vet who saw plenty of action in Germany and France. He did not talk about his service much, but loved to tell stories about how he was traveling down a road and met another convoy heading in another direction and met his brother there. His Sgt gave him a few hours and the two brothers had some time to catch up before he had to get back to his unit.  Another story was about how in France when they liberated a town, the town's people broke open a stash of wine they had hidden from the Germans.  He and his buddies drank so much wine and he had such a hangover that he never really drank wine again.  He was one great guy. Hard working, stubborn but would do anything for you.  I'm going to miss him.  He's really the last of his family of that generation.  My folks were just that much younger.

Well take care,

Mitch

well hope everyone is well. I feel manly today. I went up into the mtns with truck and  Chainsaw  and cut wood for house... my truck is alot tougher then i thought. i pulled a tree about3 ft wide and 40 ft long up a muddy hill
i was really impressed. I am so tired i worked my rear off....but i think i got enough for winter. i got a 8 ft bed, i filled it up as high as legally possible, and my truck didnt really complain to much, i think i got a good 2-3 cords....i had that wood stack real high at least 4 ft above the cab.....

well i have some work to do in the train room so i will catch you giz later...i am finally gonna put my e unit in my 2025 ....

can someone give me advice on the best  oil to use. For my wheels and arm and as well as my whistle i have to lube..thanks

Coffee Drinker just threw a fresh pot on, hope someone will join....later

Giz the diversion has worked!!!!  Its been a long day, and had to call in a LOT of favors across this great country.  But as soon as people heard of the situation they were responding from all over.  (Even he who has a job he can't talk about assisted, JIM your service and sacrifice has not been in vane.  We owe the mission success to you and your LHS, and the great visual diversion.)

One of our Super Top Secret Agents, foiled the Chief's covert plan of escape scheduled for earlier this evening from the great North East,  with rain and wind dances held all night long.  (Unfortunately all flights were also cancelled.)  Other team members were able to completely search and remove all unauthorized souviners that may have been misappropriated.  The Chief was further detained for extensive processing and temporary treatments were administered for "gritification."    (Process utilizes the Fleet Prep Package which normalizes the bodily systems, in anticipation of imminent excessive grits ingestion.)

Last reported sighting had the Chief trying to convince the flight crew at 5 a.m., to permit him to use his BIG SEAT ticket  for one the small seats without a center.

Being on the left coast does have its responsibilities. However, upon being convinced that normalization will return to MD Line and related areas,    I'M GOING TO BED.

Hmmm - smells like someone burned popcorn?!  Funny story the other day, apparently they want to ban microwave popcorn in state gov't buildings in MO, since they have had to shut down so many times due to smoke setting off alarms!  No kidding!

Prayers for Lee for a speedy recovery and quick end to his problem Wink [;)]  and the families left behind in SC Sad [:(]

Bought some dvd-R's and trying to record a disney show now - hope it works.  They have some good kid movies on the disney channel!  Dropped off wife's van for a service and check on the breaks, then to dinner with friends and delighted to find it was Kids Eat Free night!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Rich, heard the news on the guys in South CarolinaSad [:(] brings back memories.  We lost our five in a collapse too.  I got word that FDNY is sending some buses down and they have extended the offer for our guys too.  I remember our incident and we had guys from Canada, California, it seemed everywhere was represented.  We also lost a Dept. Chief this past week.  Had a heart attack at 50.  He was the state union rep and did a lot of teaching across the country.  He will be missed.

Lee, from when I was interning, the VA in Miami is not much better.  I hope they have improved over the last 16 years.  I hope things go well and that you are back soon.

Chief, He will never know what hit him!  Keep up the good work.  Reminds me of the great train raid Stonewall Jackson did in the first round of the war of northern agression.

Had a long day, big cases and some sad news around.  Hope everyone has a good night.  When you hit your knees tonight, please say a prayer for the families left behind.

God Bless,

Dennis

Speedy recovery, Lee.
Dr. John, I love Indy - intrigued by the possibility of another movie.
Fife, I hear the O's have hired an old Cubs man as prez... Andy McPhail - a great baseball guy who could do no wrong with the Twins but was scuttled by the Cubs curse.
Jim, there are a fair number of trolleys in 1:64 - how about a PCC? I'll look for the links.
Enjoyed jury duty- back to work tomorrow - but have to call in tomorrow night. I get to ride the L all the way up to Evanston for a meeting.

Did you try Shutterfly for pictures ? !!  Very easy there & all free ! Photobucket works well for me for movie clips, though !

A bit hot and rainy down here in south Florida.  I may be off the forum for a couple of weeks as I am supposed to have a minor surgery on thursday at one of the local hospitals.  Was using the V.A. Hospital in West Palm Beach but they got to be very fussy about my income and I didn't like the service from the doctors there, seems like most of the doctors were finishing up on residency requirements at the V.A.

Hopefully I will be back in July and be able to make the Lake Worth train show in August at the Polish American Club on Lake Worth Road in West Palm Beach area.

Have been trying to post photos here on the forum, got photos over to photobucket.com, typed in URL or IMG address here but the photo don't come thru, did I forget something?   If I forget something it may have to do with pasting.

Hot in Southern Ohio.  It is finally raining!  Kinda hard now, but hopefully it will last long enough to do some good.  Went and bought the garage from Lowes!  No turning back now.

Laz-Sweating copper pipe is if you forgive the pun, no sweat.  Get a good torch, mapp gas or actyelene.  Like soldering wire where you heat the wire to draw the solder, heat the fitting to draw the solder.  Clean pipe and fittings, flux and go.  Start low and work your way up when possible because the heat rises.  When closing up a system that has has water in it, allow the water a place to vent because when you heat the pipe it will turn to steam and blow the solder out of the joints.  If you mess up, take it apart and re-do it.

Zeke-I am blessed to have the grandkids.  At this point they are the reward for putting up with the crap their mom gave us.  It is a shame folks are reluctant to stop and help roadside breakdowns.  A few months ago stopped and changed a flat.  The person said what do I owe you, I said do something for someone else.  A day later my daughter in another city had a flat; someone stopped and helped her!

Doug-Know of any trolleys that would be aroud 1/64 scale?  I'm thinking about turning one of my 740 handcars into a trolley.

Got a neat catalogue from National Motor Museum Mint.  It is where I got a 1/64 wiener car.  Lots of nice cars and trucks.  www.motormint.com/trucks.htm

Got to go.  Lots to study for finals

May God Bless

Good afternoon,

Not much happening here, trying to stay inside in the AC.  Looks like we might get a thunder storm shortly.

Picked up my MTH, CNJ boxcab diesel today.  Haven't run it since I got home, but did put it through it's paces at the shop when I picked it up.

Sounds like the Chief and Jim are spending the day, spending Chief's money.  I think he is in the wrong part of the country to find NS stuff.

Take care all,

laz57 - If I can solder copper pipes together, you can do it too.  Just be as precise on your measurements as possible.  Copper tubing and tubular track are kinda alike, very forgiving.  You know...that bathroom project will probably cut into your train time...Disapprove [V]

HI GIZ,

Started laz CAMP today at 0530 was cooler then,  got 5miler in and weight, now take the dogs for a walk.

Bathroom stuff came in so got to go to Home Depot to pick up new shower, toilet, vanity, and tile.  Start in a few weeks when my plumber gets here to do the pipes.  Want someone who does it for a living soldering pipes, I'll do the rest.

Stay cool to get to 94 today.

Cloudy and humid this a.m. Looks like rain! We're sure hoping!

Son heads to Hawaii tomorrow with girlfriend's family for a week. Lucky dog! I admire him for saving his money to go.

The kids got me the Indiana Jones trilogy on DVD for Father's Day. Watched Raiders of the Lost Ark last night. I've lost count of how many times I've seen it, but I love it! Tonight, Indiana Jones and the Temple of Doom. (Ummmm, chilled monkey brains! Dead [xx(] ).

And a good day to all! Smile [:)]

A quick good morning before I'm off to court for jury duty today - a beautiful day in Crystal Lake, sunny and cool - the rain last eve broke the heat for the time being. Hope to stop in the hobby store in Woodstock if we get a break - he has a magnificent Lionel display layout. It's in the square featured in the old Groundhog Day movie...

Good morning all,

For once it is cloudy with a chance of much needed rain for SE Indiana with temps in the 80s.  Zeke, you do have some adventures and I enjoy your observations on life such as the bug and the windshield.  I had class last night and got home around 9 PM.  I had to do dishes and did not get to bed until 11.  Fortunately I did not have to drive today and I caught a few Z's on the way in.  I see where the dining car was already to "Points East" with a bunch of bran muffins.  I will catch up on everybody's posts, maybe tonight.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana (at least I spelled it right today :-) )
