Mornin' boys, and a fine one it is here in the Mid-Atlantic region. Great news about Mrs. Sheryl. Perhaps Doc should go out to the garage and polish up that arc-welder for her...
Mitchelr - Happy Anniversary! Have fun in Naplis, hon...
Zeke - your motives are just. I would drop them off at the hospital, say a quick "Hi" to your pal, then leave. Probably a lot to this picture we just don't know...
Chief - is Cool-Whip ok with nanner puddin'? Is so, I'm definitely down with that.
Jim.....Bridge is made by Hundred Year Bridge Co. They have a website.
Thanks, Chuck

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....
It is a clear 58 degrees. Going up to 86 today, with sunshine.
Today, we are driving up to the Daughter's home in Brunswick. It's about 155 miles one way. It is the Granddaughter's Birthday. 5 years old. She is the train Buddy. Has her's set up in the family room. Little battery operated G guage. Lots of fun.
I hope gas is cheaper up north. It's still about $2.79 around here. It was about 20 cents higher, on the last trip.
I put the steel bridge back in the train room. I will install it next week. I plan on taking some pictures, when I do.
Mitch....Happy Anniversary !!
Well, Dining Car is here. Need to have breakfast and get moving.
Y'all have a great Saturday.

what kind of switches you using? Myself i am using some marx and lionel manual switches. this is my first layout and i dont want to bombared myself with to much wiring. besides these have big green and red thingys so i wount forget to switch one and have a train go flying....lol
Well im off to the hospital again. Gonna pick his kids up at the airport first. Catch you all later.
Sorry John S - no nuclear popcorn from me tonight, too full of steak and onion, sorry!
Zeke - real sorry to hear about your friend, I pray he gets through this alright.
Wife getting ready for trip so was doing the books on the laptop and I just got back on. I've been reading a couple track plan books, mostly N and HO, but some S and O. Trying to re-rethink things so I can more easily reach all the track. I have to remind myself that this is a temporary layout and not everything that I want or will have will fit in here!
Guy said he has all the switches I want, just waiting to find out how much with shipping.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
hey guys and gals,
sorry not much time to respond tonight. I been at the hospital all day. Charles went in for surgery and that went ok. But he also broke 2 ribs and punctured a lung. He is not breathing to well. hes hooked up to all kinds of tubes and machines. Kinda scarey. His wife is being very strong though. She treid to call the kids and tell them but they told her they were to busy to come. His lungs were starting to fill with blood. When she told me they were too busy i asked if i could call them. And well i did. I know it wasnt my place but their only dad could pass on, its a possibillity. So i call they said they had to many meetings and deals.
I told them to get their tails down here. their dad might die. Again no remorse or anything. (And me having lost all my family and never had the chance to say good bye). I piped up said " you know what your dad is on his death bed right now his lungs are filling with blood, you need to get your butts on a plane and get here asap" I know it wasnt my place but they hit a nerve and p*****ed me off. (sorry i dont usally use bad words) Needles to say both his son and daughter and grand kids are on thier way. I havent know him long but i know he adores his kids, he just wants them to love him back. After all f-day is what sunday. I am sorry guys but this man got me. i really care what happens, he reminds me of my grandpa and i probablly crossed a line but this man would love to open his eyes and see his kids there. I know that with all my heart. Well i had to get away for a little bit. im gonna grab dinner and head back to the hospital. Thanks for the prayers and all. You guys are awesome.
That's ok Chief !! I'll get some Nuclear popcorn from Jim F. !!

Good evening,
Jim, The box cab is a diesel, not an electric. It is considered the first production diesel made. The original is in the B&O Museum in Baltimore.
Here is a blurb about it that is in the MTH catalog. As far as I know it is correct.
While the 1350 hp Electro Motive FT was The Diesel That Did It - retired the steam engine - this was The Diesel That Started It. The 300 hp Alco-GE-Ingersoll Rand boxcab was the first production Diesel-electric produced in North America. General Electric had been experimenting with internal combustion rail power for nearly two decades when, in the mid-1920s, it formed a partnership with Ingersoll Rand and Alco to manufacture Diesel-electrics. GE made the traction motors and generator, IR supplied the diesel motor, and Alco built the mechanical parts. In the summer of 1925, the Central Railroad of New Jersey bought the first boxcab demonstrator, and CNJ #1000 became the first production Diesel-electric owned by an American railroad. In December, the second engine in the production run became Baltimore & Ohio #1, and orders soon followed from the Chicago & North Western, Reading, and Erie. The Diesel revolution had quietly begun.
CNJ 1000 had a three-decade career switching the Bronx Terminal Yard, acquiring a Jersey Central Lines "Miss Liberty" paint job along the way. In 1957 it went to a well-earned retirement at the B&O Railroad Museum in Baltimore. B&O #1 had an equally long career in Manhattan and is preserved today at the Museum of Transportation in St. Louis.
Laz, I ordered this one from Ted. I try to give some business to both. I have an L1 on order from Barry. Sounds like a nice gun. I have a lever action chambered for 45 Colt. A fun gun to shoot. The grandsons can sure run through a lot of ammo with it.
Doug, I think you are seeing something in the picture that is not there, no pickups on this one. It's a diesel.
Dr. John, That sure is good news. Good to hear no pacemakers is needed.
Jim (Mich), We got two storms, Tue & Wed evening. Each dropped a 1/4" of rain. It helped but we could use more. Still down for the year, but not in trouble yet.
I'm still working on the LNE FA1 TMCC conversion. Installed LED head light & LEDs to light the markers, as well as a GOW lamp for a cab light. GOW operates on reduced voltage at about 1/2 brightness. Also in process of fabricating a cab from gray ABS plastic to house the cab crew. Almost done with this A unit. One more to go.
Take care,
Evening all
I could not access the forum yesterday. Server down
Zeke- I hope your new friend gets better
Dr. John - congrats on the answered prayers
Chuck- The bridge looks great! Who makes it? Beautiful work!
New job is crazy. Very busy. Does not leave much time for studies. Class tomorow, then finals next week and off for a month. I want to try and put an addition on the garage. We'll see.
Needto read another chapter before bed.
God bless
Jim
Great news, Dr. John! BTW, DVT = Deep Vein Thrombosis or blood clots. Coors is okay - used to love the commercials with ELVIRA (aaaaooooooooogaaaahhhh!!!) - ever see the movie Elvira's Haunted Hills? Glad Lucas is doing well. How is your son doing, Don Baker? Did he get his air horn working?
Went out for dinner tonight - Steak, Salad, Steamed Veggies, and some ice cold Bud Light Oh, and some Bloomin' Onion, but it wasn't cooked just right. Time to work on my track plans again. TTFN!

Chief, you can read me like a book. Of course I wouldn't give an 18 year old a case of Coors, one of America's best beers. (Laz, don't you have Coors in the mountains of PA or do you still drink that stuff in that green bottle?) I will give him the thrill of a lifetime of spending the night in the Franklin County Jail if I see him driving on a suspended license. He has personalized license plates.
Just returned from volunteering at the Blues and Jazz Festival. Mrs. Buckeye and I worked the information booth. Needless to say, the booth contained a sign promoting TIME WARNER CABLE. Several people were looking to have a chat with Time Warner about their cable service. We directed them to the official Time Warner booth, where they wanted to complain.
Last year when we were in Colorado, the Royal Gorge train ride had the option of a cab ride. Does anybody know other tourist trains with the cab ride option?
Great news Dr. John!! P.F. Chang's is a great restaurant especially for lunch in the winter.

Good evening all,
IIABSDISE with temps in the 90s. Had another Friday off and got the chores done so tomorrow is a free day. Dr. John, I am glad to hear your wife is ok. I missed the post where you explained the situation, but I had read about all the concerns and prayers. I can see why everyone was so worried, and I am happy the prognosis is good. Some one asked about Lucas and he is doing ok. His second semester grades were nothing to write home about, but he did ok. His girlfriend was over here for about four hours today. I also drove around the construction at the Honda plant. It looks like they are starting to lay track in the yard.
My first Tinplate purchase in several years arrived yesterday. I bought a 512 gondola from Hollywood Station and it looks nice. The price was reasonable and the delivery was quick. I hope to run it tomorrow morning when it is cooler upstairs in the attic.
Zeke, that is good news about the pool and I hope your train friend gets better. Jim, that is way TMI about the commando Friday. Buckeye, how about some Old Style beer for your underage friend? That is some really bad stuff.
The dining car had bran muffins on it this morning. I hope all the stops between here and "Points East" had their fill. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana

Dr. John, make sure she keeps that leg from flexing too much. She will have to get up and move around to keep from any DVTs but don't over do it. Also, don't be suprised if it takes a good while before she has no pain in the insertion site. It is right by some ligaments and a major flex point. The probably used a closure device which makes a little "plug" make sure you check it and that nothing scrapes against it until it is healed. It can bleed quite a bit, so be careful. This is all precaution, don't get in a panic. I just want it to be smooth for her.
Dennis
PS: that is fantastic news!

Jim.....Entirely too much information. BTW, until you messed things up by getting a computer, we had nominated you to be in the next Geico Commercial. Guess we will have to recind it.
Long day, getting longer. Heading out for Mexican food as a friend of the brides whom we have not seen in some time called. Oh well, too hot to cut grass anyway.

Fifedog, I don't know about spare lumber but I can do a nice line in thermolite blocks! The driveway is full of them. As well as all the roofing materials. We have 25 sq Meters of Bradstone blocks to arrive next week along with 34 roof trusses.
John B, Sent the photo hope it saves your behind
FIL and I had a "What have we done" moment this afternoon when the second lorry load of blocks turned up. The driver says we are a pallet short but we have wiped out their stock!

Good afternoon, everyone!
Good news from the Johnston household. Sheryl's heart test was negative, so she did not have to have the defibrilator implanted. The test took about an hour, then she had to stay fairly still for six hours to get over the effects of the sedative and to avoid bleeding from the site where the catheter was inserted in her leg. Afterward, we went to her favorite restaurant in Birmingham (P.F. Chang's) and then drove back to Prattville. She's taking it easy today but she's free to resume all activities after three days. Thanks to all for the prayers, good wishes and kind words. We're grateful to God for the good report.
Had a good rain in Birmingham yesterday but only a brief shower here locally. It's cloudy and warm, so we may get a shower this afternoon. May try to cut the front yard later today. Grass hasn't grown much - just want to scare the weeds a bit.
Nick,
Sent you an e-mail testerday, came back, 'not delivered-timed out' if I'm not going to get my alibi? I'm going to get my bottom spanked. so here's my e-mail address;

Happy fathers day you guys over the pond, I'm not sure when it is here as no one seems to bother.

Don,......That is a really nice looking boxcab. Post some pictures of it on your layout.

Chief, say hey to Eefus, Clem, and Broomhilda for me at the meetin'!
Finally a nice summah day out there. The past few days have been more like what one would expect in late March early April.
I won't be on the forum this weekend, so I want to wish all the dads here a very Happy Father's Day. Enjoy your day, and more importantly, enjoy your kids!
