Good afternoon all,

Nick, How big is that building & how much will be layout.  It looks very nice.

Doug, That is a nice outdoor layout.  When you get done working and have the time give us a rundown on the track plan and more pictures.

Chief, How is the garden coming?  We are getting tons of Zucchini, yellow squash, peppers, hot and mild & eggplant.  We are between crops of tomatoes.  The early are in a lull and the main crop hasn't started yet.

Friend and I put up track lighting in the Church Library this morning. Older folk, older than I which makes them really old, were complaining that they could not read the book titles.

Working on 50th Class reunion year book which will have the graduation picture and a current picture + a small bio of the last 50 years. Try condensing 50 years into a paragraph sometime. We got 82 responses out of 103, not bad when you consider most of the others are deceased.

Take care and stay out of the heat if you can

Don, Planning and approval took around 6 months. It can be a real pain over here but we were surprised how smoothly the process went. Only real stipulations were that the roof tile matched that of the existing house. It was also prefered that the two walls that are seen be Bradstone (artifical stone) again to match the existing house. Building Regulations (I think what you guys call "Code" (Extream Makeover has reached our shoresSmile [:)])) Chap has to come and inspect at certain points during the build. Gamesroom (not including garage)area is around 54 square meters.

Have started planning with my son. We are going with a 16" X 8" layout as a manageable size. Have to fit in the FIL's pool table and Jukebox. Busy playing around with RR track. Layout plan is similar to the TM fastrack DVD plan at the moment. 072 loop with a 060 inside. Though we may add a extension for a turntable. RR track will make ordering the correct track easier as I can't just pop out to the local stockestSad [:(]

Afternoon All !!!

Haven't been posting much of late, although I have tried to visit regularly in an attempt to keep up with what's happening. That's a tuff job in itself. Black Eye [B)]

Been busy with the "G" set-up, they are worse than "O". Dead [xx(] Would much rather be moving around plastic or styrofoam rocks instead of the real things. Got some rail clamps on order so I can get the track down and ballasted, unfortunately the top of the retaining wall isn't exactly level so the ballast (chicken grit) will have to be used for leveling and glued down.

Well coffee break is over, back to the quarry. Big Smile [:D]

Take care all and play safe.

P.S. As you can see it appears as if there is a bit of a graffiti problem. Laugh [(-D]

Afternoon, Y'all!

Had a rough night as far as sleep goes.  Have lots to tackle over the next few days.  I am still on call, so hopefully I will get the chance.  I have a friend coming down to do some shooting next month and need to get some serious work on the layout done.

Brent, do yourself a favor and put in the light switches with the slide dimmer next to the switch that will allow you to lower the light for those "late night trips to the restroom".  We put them in the master bath and the bathroom in the hallway on the main level.  This way, you don't go blind at 2am.

Don, got a 1666, shure is a nice looking locomotive.  It does need some lube, but I will wait till I get the rest of the wiring done.  Anyway, good luck on your search.

Dennis

Nick,

If you didn't mind not having a roof. there's enough lumber there to start your layout table.

Laz, we primarily use leeches on a real sharp hook and jig about 1 foot from the bottom and between the rocks.

BUCKEYE we used the same technique on the ST. Lawerence.  When they ran out used night crawlers.  Great catch.

Good morning from a sunny and warm Chicago where we got a few thunderstorms through yesterday that broke the big heat. Lost power at home for a few hours for the first time in years. Fortunately, I was out at a local pizza joint for a 'church meeting' during that time.

That's quite a stringline, Buckeye.

Jim A, you sure take great photos of your work too.

Chief, when that teen is done with your second story windows, send him over... I have a few to paint too.

Jim,
Like that Steamer... you got mixed up with the livery though... should have been a B&O! Smile [:)]

Well wife and I got the spare bathroom partially painted last night.  I have to put the second coat on the ceiling and do some touch up, then hang the vanity light.  Got the faucet, towel bar, and toilet paper holder off EBay so will install them when they arrive.  Just have to remember to get to Lowes for the supply lines.

Those interested, you can see pics at: http://www.distorteduniverse.com/house/gallery.asp That's my company website that I never finished... got to get a new Domain name so I can turn it into a better site, company idea kinda fell through... LOL!

School starts today, so I guess I should head over to the site and introduce myself... Can't wait to be done with this... 5 classes to go... this one is paid for by the company I work for, then have 1 to pay for myself, then 3 more for next year the company can pay for again... Smile [:)] just have to determine if I want to pay for this class this year or next...

Have to dismantle the platform I used to install the foyer light on Sunday and get the lumber into the train room.

Morning all.  Another 90 + but temp is suppose to drop after today. I might try to sell my lawn as hay since it does not look like grass anymore. My friend at the train store tells me nothing exciting going on there. No new items of interest have arrived. He goes everyday and then I check with him for a report. Well I'll drop by later and see if anyone got themselves in trouble today. It's still early so there's lot's of time.       Mi. Jim

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 66 degrees. Going up to 90  today, with sunshine. It has been a hot, couple of days.

Today, I am taking it easy. Been busy, the last few days, with mowing grass, taking the wife to Doctor and grocery shopping. Wife checked out good at the Doctor, yesterday. Has to go back in 3 weeks for xrays. But, all is healing well, and she can resume normal living. The pain is much less.

This afternoon, I will spend some time in the train room, enjoying running trains and doing some cleaning.

Belated Happy B-Day [bday].. to Thor.Hope you had a good one.

Dining Car has arrived from " points west " with bran muffins. Time for the breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Tuesday.

Good morning all,

It is another beautitful day in SE Indiana, and I would have said that despite whatever the weather was.  My Norwegian soccer friend showed up at the high school soccer practice last night, and I had a great time introducing her to some of the kids.  She showed them some drills and we got to scrimmage against some of them as well.  Despite claiming to be out of shape, she still showed them some moves.  Not only that, but she will be at my game on Wednesday to watch me in action.  And (as they say on TV), it only gets better.  She will be in Seattle for two years to get enough work experience to start on her master's degree.  Can you say road trip?  My wife and I have talked about going thru the northwestern section of the country and now we have a destination as well.  I came home and my wife saw my "dopey grin" (which I still have on my face today).  It was a very good day.

Lucas spent hours on the phone talking to someone he may go out on a date with.  I am so glad not to be his age.  I sent bran muffins on the dining car to "Points East" this morning to help out with the self-service.  I hope everyone (especially Zeke and Jenny) have a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Good morning all! Yesterday, I was at jury duty and seem to be paying for it here today. Busy busy busy!

Thanks to all for the nice comments on my B&M steamer. I bought it last year for $65. It was kermit the frog green (holiday livery) with a blue tender. Now it is one of my favorite steamers.

Spent part of yesterday cleaning and polishing up my post war 2343s. If I get a chance later, I'll snap a few photos. Show y'all what they are supposed to look like! Wink [;)]

Back to work, I guess. Have a great day!

Jim
