Good morning to all. With everyone going to the chat room, the evening coffee gets cold, but I type to slow to keep up. Anyway storms went through Mich. yesterday but no rain here and none expected. we have a break from the heat until Sun. All the engines that have to have batt.'s are running, what a pain. They sure make nice looking engines but no more of those thank you. Still waiting for my first BLT of the season, wont buy store tomatoes. Stay safe,

  Humid and steamy here this morning at 74 and it was onlt 515!  Only did a slow 4 miler on the count of NO AIR movement just a very stale air mass, was tough but made it.

  Today going to cash in aluminum cans and copper, brass from bathroom.  Maybe catch a movie, or go to train shop?  Then there  is a buffet in Harrisburg at YOUR PLACE with all the stromboli, pitza, and wings you can eat for $8.00.

I installed Remote Control Ceiling Fans in my train room, they are great!  Of course I have the receptacle wired to a wall switch, (one for each fan), and then control the fan and light by the remote.  The remote has a dimmer control as well.  Pretty much solves all the issues.  Then when I gone for a while I can turn the fan unit off just with the wall switch.  The remote not only controls the intensity of the light but has 3 speed for the fan.  Since there are two I found it is best to have each remote on seperate frequencies, which is selectable.  Otherwise, if they are on the same frequency, they can get confused easily and you go to turn one off and the other comes on.  Difficult to keep them in sync, but the seperate frequency resolves all.  They were inexpensive as well, I believe about $45 at Lowes, which included a 3 socket light kit.

Why do you need to get rid of the TMCC?  DCS and TMCC are not mutually exclusive as you know.  Keeps all your options open, most likely as soon as you dump TMCC someone will come out with an Engine you really like.  I find it extremely convient for both.  And what you would probably get for it wouldn't be sifnificant since you already have  both.  (I don't think that last sentence made sense) LOL  Sure wish I could come buy and pick up some of the sweet corn!!!!! I remember as a kid I remember the corn from a stand was ALWAYS the best!  Finally your hunch is probably right, too bad.

Finally I promised my self NO MORE TRAINS, Budget Broke,  - Then get an email from a club member, he found a set of G-Scale Bachmann illuminated passenger cars, and offering them to me at a riducoulous price.  (pennies),  I hope I don't end up in the same spot Doug-not-agrump is in.   Extra G scale track, extra cars, and empty flower bed.

I think my gut hunch is correct that is disappointing. More on that at another time. Well it is the start of one of those very hazy, humid hot days. However my wife said I should get the bikes in because there are to be T-Storms today. I think she just doesn’t like to see me sleep in.

I have a gang of 100 Ton hoppers on the layout and they are some of the best rolling stock I ever owned. The problem is that I now need to double the track size because I want more of them. I am considering adding DCS to my layout since I now own a few MTH engines. My other though is to sell the TMCC stuff and just go DCS. Anyone have any thoughts on this?

I’m going out to buy some underground cable so I can get power to the three-story garage. I rewired that and the barn six year ago but never ran the cable below the barn. I have been using a homemade extension cord using 10-gauge wire. Well as you can guess there is some power loss with far of a run.

 BTW if anyone is going through Somerset County in August all forums members get free sweet corn.

The weather will be changing today in SE Indiana from hot and humid to mild and dry, but maybe no rain.  I think it will be dry for tonight's game.  For a change, my Norwegian soccer friend will be watching me play instead of the other way around.  I played Risk last night with Lucas and one of his friends.  I don't play to win, but more to just "torque" them up.  It was fun.  I see where the dining car arrived from "Points East" with the usual fare.  Has any one heard from Zeke lately?  I hope everyone (especially Zeke and Jenny) have a good day.

Mornin' fellas...

Dennis - I saw your post, thought I responded...   I like the idea.  I have installed dimmers in a couple locations, those look similiar to the ones I put in our dinning room and family room.  We are going with the new rectangle switches, so the dimmers a bit more expensive.  I need to get three ways for a kitchen light and it is going to run about $60.00 for the two!  The ones I have for the dinning room and family room are touch pad dimmers with little bars on the right side, you touch the top of the bar for brighter, bottom for dimmer.  Once you have the right intensity you stop and then when you turn the light off it goes off, but when you turn it back on it only goes up to the intensity you pre-set.  Pretty cool.

I may even get these for the train room, or something similiar.  The train room currently has three dimmer switches that control two banks of canister lights and a ceiling light.  When I build the layout the switches are going to be inaccessible, so I am looking into remote control dimmers... going to be pricey but in the long run it will be worth it.  I may even see if I can combine the two banks of canister lights into one bank and still have the seperate control for the ceiling light and replace that with a ceiling fan... who knows... LOL!

Had a nice talk with Chief last night.  Chief, you have to get those politicians to work nicely together!  Goodness!  Good thing they don't have claws or most of them would be blind by now.

It is a cloudy 62 degrees. Going up to 79 today, with a chance of rain. Looks like a thunderstorm in the distance.

Today, I will be doing a few things around the house and spending some time in the train room. Got all the errands run, and now to relax. I watched the All Star game last night, and the American League won again. No ball games until Friday now.

Kurt, I would also go with the Merck manual/web site.  Very informative and reliable information.  That being said, you have to really be carefull with trying to "self diagnose" in such cases.  As the Chief mentioned, it could be worse.  One of the biggest parts of medicine is knowing what to rule out and when.  If it walks like a duck, looks like a duck, but clucks like a chicken, it probably stopped being a duck and you have to go to the next conclusion.  Gall bladder can mask other things and other things can look like a gall bladder.  I would make sure that she gets a full work up to rule out everything and also have a baseline to work from.  Will keep her in my prayers.

Brent in case you missed my earlier post, make sure you put in the light switches with the little dimmer slide next to the switch for the bathroom lights.  This way you won't be blinded by the light at 2am.

Got to get some sleep.  I have a potential case at 2330hrs, depending on the bloodwork.  Hope everyone has a good night and a better tomorrow.

I am preparing for just such a possibility, all along the retaining wall and under the ledge I am putting down a thick bed of a ground/chipped rubber product like they use in playgrounds. It won't eliminate all potential damage but it beats falling on a gravel bed.

Kurt - prayers for your wife!  My wife went through this about 11 years ago and once they took the gallbladder out, she was fine.  Doctor said it was probably caused by her going on a well known diet at that time.  This is a website I use at work:

Got my replacement drill I bought on ebay - works great and still had temporary stickers on grip.  Need to get to the new motor that Jeff sent me.  Also, figured out I wired 2 light switches wrong on a 4-way switch in the basement, so need to get to that.  Not tonight though - too tired!  Popcorn time - sounds good to me!  John, come on over as soon as possible - I'll try and keep some for you.

PS - got my baby sister a Presto Pizzaz for a wedding shower -- looks very cool.  It cooks a frozen or fresh made pizza on a turn table under a heater element.  Kinda looks like a hot air popper.  Any of you guys tried one of these?  Target has on sale for like 1/3 off and would get one for me if they are good.

Nexum, works for me.  Don't want to scare you but they thouught I had gall bladder problems and was going to take it out.   6 bypasses later, it went away.  BTW: this stupid software has switched to bold right in the middle of my typing and will not let me turn it off.

Nick, How big is that building & how much will be layout.  It looks very nice.

John, Thanks very much. Its 15 Meters long by 6 Meters wide ( Gamesroom 9 Meters long). Layout will be around 16" x 8" to be manageable. Bare in mind that all power we need has to be provided by 110V 60Hz inverter(s) and those inverter(s) powered by 230V to 13.8V power supplies. Also have to fit in a pool table and Jukebox.
