Hello again..Rained big time yesterday afternoon and in typical Florida fashion, everyone panicked!! FLOOD!!  Upper 80's again today more BIG RAIN this afternoon.

Haven't looked at the railroad lately, having to move and looking at a '66 Dart(like my first car) to play with.  I did use some of that pink foundation foam someone suggested on the ogrr site.  Even on my foam insulation, that Fastrack got REAL quiet.  Even SWMBO concurred(wow, she agrees with me? will miracles never cease?).

Dennis, I remember those five in Hackensack.  Was that the chief you know in Hackensack?  I read the obit at NJ.com (sorry, my heart is still there...).  50 i wasy too young to go.  I just hit 52 and there are a lot of FD guys that are just not in shape for the job.

I have officially returned to work to get some much needed rest and relaxation in after 'THE MOVE'... what an insane past 5 days!

Thursday - I picked up the moving truck.  A friend and two of the wife's cousins assisted me in loading the beast!  24 foot truck, loaded fairly well (took us 4 hours to load).

Friday - we had the final walk through - no issues.  Contractor shows up at 9:45 (told them 10:15) to install the new front door and storm door.  Started unloading the truck and 2 full gallons of paint crashed onto the driveway! Disapprove [V]  That made it difficult to unload the truck as we had to step around 2 gallons of wet paint!  FiL, wife, wife's cousin, and myself unloaded the truck - took us from 11:30 till 3:30 to unload - not bad as we were all fairly tired.  DirecTV showed up to install the system (he was there from 11:30 till 3:45)!  Took 24 foot truck back and got 16 footer... wife, her cousin, and I loaded it at old house - 2 hours, unloaded at new house 1.25 hours.  Went to bed early Friday (10:30).

Saturday - had to have 16 foot truck back to center by 7:30 am.  Stopped by old house and loaded wife's car.  Got back to new house and the dumpster was gone!  We really needed the extra space.  Professional movers were 1.5 hours late showing up! Disapprove [V] That really messed things up for the day.  While waiting for the movers, wife's cousins and I emptied the garage, moved some stuff around inside, unloaded some kitchen stuff, installed two exterior lights and painted the living room.  Movers finished at 6:00 - just as the Rolls pulled up to take the wife and I out on the town for our anniversary!  Approve [^]  We had a great time filling our tummies with Fillet (I had crumbled crab meat on mine - Fife does that officially make me a Marylander?), baked taters, and steamed brocolli.  Then we went and had dessert at an Italian Bakery... Dinner [dinner]  Got home at Midnight and crashed...

Sunday - more painting, and unpacking, trip to Sears to pickup new grill and weed wacker, stop by old house for more stuff, and then back to new house to unload.  More unpacking.

I don't remember much about Monday or Tuesday... all I do remember is stopping and ordering the new John Deere Lawn Tractor... oh and the wife dragging me to Lowes and Home Depot to buy more light fixtures and paint (to replace the spilled contents on Friday)...

Tired - going to take a nap at work today!

Good to be back... I see The Roseyville Rascal and the New England Nutcase had some fun over the weekend!  Those two together remind me of Boss Hog and Roscoe P Coletrain!

Yeah Rich, Tommy Canz, a top guy.  He was a FF when I was there, been a long time, almost 20 years.  He was in good shape, but had suffered a aneurysm to the brain, they clipped it and kept him in a drug induced coma for a few days to keep the swelling/pressure down.  He came out of it OK, and a bunch of the guys went down and he cut up with them.  Then he had a heart attack a few days later.

After 7/1/88, the Ford Fire, he was the IAFF rep and really pushed for improvements in the dept.  Made a lot of changes and eventually became state rep.  Helped a lot of guys in a lot of different ways....kept some from trouble, and got better benefits for all.  After he had the aneurysm, the Chief put in his paperwork for retirement for him (once it is filed, he/his widow would get all the benefits, unlike the one payment for a LOD death).

Beautiful day in Buckeyeland.

Finally finished three weeks of training on the new bridge design specifications.  INTENSE!!

Mowing grass today after a great rain yesterday.

Is the Chief back in NC?  I hope he behaved himself while he was in the North.

Not much news.  Been too busy with training.

See ya down the tracks,

That's all you have to discuss are the Yankee honeys from the flight? You're waiting for me to go home so you can cast your rebel lies!

Hey, when you fell asleep in the car, you kept saying "kiss me again, Gomer". What's that all about?! Wink [;)]Laugh [(-D] Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]

Howdy boys.  Good to see Chief made it home safe & sound.  Good thing he didn't take United!  Don't hear any Rebel Yells or chants of "Frederickburg!"  Hard to tell who won.

Laz57 - Placed all 50 in the que with my SigPro2346 this morning, 10 of which were from 25 yards!Thumbs Up [tup] ROY, I placed my target on the fridge for my oldest girl's boyfriend to see!

88 - Was thinking of you while I was downstairs yesterday.  BTW, at 1245 hours (6/19) the Connellsville Sub was "blue flagged."  Almost all the subroadbed is in place, but I'm still weeks away from getting everything back running.  Did you check out my progress this past Sunday?

dbaker48 - please clarify "gritification". Is it A) Placing grits ON ^~*#, or B) Dumping grits down your tighty-whities and kinda squishing around in them?

mitchelr - Sorry to read about your Uncle.  Some organization is scurrying around lately trying to get some of these remaining GI's to open up about their WWII experiences.

Jaabat,

I may send you the Blue Bird of Happiness for your next B'day party instead of sending you the Distelfink(need to be from Berks County PA to understand about the Distelfink) as I was planning.  Thanks for wishing me a speedy recovery!

The word Gomer if I am correct comes from the Andy Griffen show, Gomer Pyle.  Gomer and Goober seem to be nicknames for two of the caracters on the Andy Griffen show.

Jaabat I think one bad thing you could do to the Cheif or his friends is to put sugar on his grits instead of butter.

Philly, I asked the waitress yesterday if they served grits, and she said no. I said good! The Chief was crestfallen but lapped up ALL that New England maple syrup on his waffle!

Point goes to the North!

FIFE, GREAT shooting buddy, have to start calling you dead eyeWink [;)].

DENNIS, remember its all in the pace with the new sneaks.  When I started out I went for a mile everyday after I would add another telephone pole or manhole cover or tree or something that I knew was a little farther then the day before.  Good luck and stay commited.

Evening all

Sounds like Chief and Jim had a good time.  I'd like to hear some of those tales you tell to get the ladies.

If anyone is in Southern Ohio and would like to visit drop a line!

I was hoping  to take Thursday off vacation, but wouldn't you know it, I have to work a 12 hour shift.  So much for study Thursday!  Need to get it done tonight, so got to go

May God Bless

Chief, glad to hear you made it back alive.  How about some pics of your booty? Pirate [oX)]

Mitch - very sorry to hear about your uncle.  My uncle Bill was in WWII as a mechanic on a bomber flying over Germany, splicing wires etc when they got hit.  He has some great stories, but won't talk about a lot of it.  I really sympathise, because he is getting very frail lately.

Mike, what does "IIABSDISEI" mean, anyway?

88/Brent, glad to hear your move is done - it's never easy!  Hey, did you get that $$$ for the cards you sent me?

Got my CTT Modern Train Repair book today, so need to read that in a bit.  Waiting for Char to call and talk to the kids - she'll be home tomorrow!  Never did get a call from the shop about her van - dropped it for a service yesterday.  Hope it's done!

Chuck - hope your grocery trip was a good one.  Gas was $2.75 here yesterday.

Buckeye - glad to hear your class is over.

Laz - your running posts are making me really tired!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Just like a Yankee.  Wax in his ears.  Gomer, NO.  "Go get her!", YES.  As for the maple syrup, Yes.  Diversion so no one knew I was Southern.  Used my Yankee New England accent.  No R's in any New England words. Made it through the Regional Transportation meeting this afternoon.  Came home to fried county ham, tomatoes [from garden], GRITS and redeye gravy.  Now back to sleep. Only had two hours sleep since 6:30 AM yesterday until 7 PM tonight.  Good night all.  OH, did run some trains for a few minutes this afternoon before meeting.

brent- glad the move is over, moving always produces some good stories, Being military ive moved atleast 10 times, and non went perfectly smooth. theres always something that pops up but hey it makes it interesting. I remeber the army moved me once and they put all my stuff in the wrong house, that was funny. But what wasnt funny is they made me move it to the right house, (which was right next door) because my handwriting wasnt legible....talk about fun.....lol happy anniversary, i know its late but thats awesome what you did for your wife, shell remeber that forever.

doug murphy-  I am kinda curious about buying a trolley, can you help me with a link to one , they seem interesting.

fifedog-- pretty good shooting. When i went threw basic training shot  expert, i think that allows you to miss 3 out of 40. I got better as i went and went to sniper scholl for three days then got deployed. Never to return. Sniper is really not my thing, you know they get them gilly suits on ad they have you move like 2000 yards  on your belly but you can only move an inche or so an hr, i dont have the patience for that.

laz-- all that running reminds me why i didnt like the army, too much running, heck i dont even like walking anymore. But in my prime i used to run 4-6 everyday and then every weekend i ran 12 with some other soliders. but you could catch me running today, really dont think i can...its awesome you can stay committed. i heard once you do something for 10 days or more it becomes habbit? good job

jabbat--- sound like your a fun guy wish i was closer id really like to hang out with you...

cheif-- sounds like you two had a great time...what is red eye gravy? Is that another way to serve grit? I have tried those but i guess not the right way cuz they taste awful

sounds like everyone is having a great time enjoying life.... I recieved a phone call from the hospital...charles isnt doing well . appers he got a infection of some type. Wife didnt tell me what but he slipped into a comma. Feeling pretty sad about this cus she said he body is rejecting something, (she used a big word i cant spell.) I hope he makes it out of this, I also found out he has cancer, I wa sup there for 3 hrs today. I just wish he'd never gone down them stairs...

Well i am gonna be working on my 2025 to keep my mind busy, i put the new e unit in it and it ran forward only for like 10 minutes then just stopped and now it wont move....Well catch you all later!

The Chief did discuss the Muffler Man. Here's what he had to say about meeting him:

I goes into a field, looks up and sees this HUGE guy standing next to me.

He sees me staring at him, looks down and says:
'17 feet tall, 850 pounds, 20 inch private, 3 pound testicles, Turner Brown.'

I faints and falls to the ground.

The big guy kneels down and brings me to, shaking me. The big guy says: 'What's wrong with you?'

In a weak voice I says, 'What EXACTLY did you say to me?'

The big dude says: 'I saw your curious look and figured I'd just give you the answers to the questions everyone always asks me..... I'm 17 feet tall, I weigh 850 pounds, I have a 20 inch private, my testicles weighs 3 pounds each, and my name is Turner Brown.'

So I says: 'Turner Brown?!...Sweet Jesus, I thought you said, 'Turn around.'

Mornin' boys.  Sunny & 60's here in the Mid-Atlantic region.  No work on the railroad yesterday.  Picked up some southern-fried chicken, drove the family to the swim club, and just chilled out watching the boats pass by.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 60 degrees. Going up to 84 today, with a chance of showers, later this afternoon.

Today, I have a few things to do around the house. I may mow the back grass this morning. Isn't growing too fast. I will spend some time in the train room, later, running trains. Need a day of rest. Gas prices are settling in at $2.75 a gallon. Still can't go for any long rides.

Dining car is here and ready for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Thursday.
