Thanks John, I needed that.

Evening all. On one certain forum, each time Jim A posts, he gets killed. Told him to stay away but he goes back for more punishment.
Earlier, soybean field behind house had a lone deer [from my lease] out eating. About 30 minutes ago, the field had 8 out feeding. Guess the earlier one was "testing the waters".
Popcorn time. Later.

Hi Jim, I think I have replied to a few of your posts, but not sure. The problem is that a days posts get so long it is hard to remember more than a few, at least for me.
It has been another busy day here. Had to repair my computer this afternoon and spent the morning with three young helpers finishing up placing mulch in the back yard. Tomorrow I am going to spend the day babysitting a 7 month old granddaughter while grandma, daughter and two older granddaughters go to Lake Tobias (one of those drive through wild animal farms). Weather permitting I will probably spend a good part of the day on the back porch rocker holding her. She loves that and I might as well spoil her as I am pretty sure she will be the last little one.
Take care,

Agree with that. I find my self reading posts and thinking of replies. Then by the time I get to the last post, forget some of the answers I had planned to post.

Evening all!
Completed a very busy set of days. Should calm down for a while.
Mich Jim - it is good to have you here. So many postings it is hard to keep up but it is still fun. We need an upper midwesterner to keep track of goings on up there!
Daughter started her first job as a waiter ata little country club near here. Told her she had to start earning seom GAS MONEY!
Not much else to say except the rain continues here. Time for it to stop for a while. Hired a friend of my daughters to mow the lawn for the summer. He made it here today between storms. Hadn't been mowed in over 2 weeks due to the rain.
Have a great evening all!
Regards, Roy

I tried Peanut Butter on a sticky cardboard trap - the mouse got away by disolving the glue with various bodily secretions!!! YUCK. I finally resorted to POISON which worked great! Nothing says no to mice like a yummy infusion of Blood Thinner. I read in Mother Earth News years ago that you could get 'em with a saucer of Coca Cola or Pepsi Cola (not sure about The UnCola?) because the bubbles kill them - they can't burp. Don't know if it's true, because my mice didn't go for the soda as far as I could tell.
RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.
Oh, my wife made it back from Washington DC - they got to do a lot of sight seeing when not working and had a rental car. They got to the Smithsonian, The Mall by Moonlight tour, The White House Visitor Center (got cancelled due to bomb threat or something?), The Tomb of the Unknown Soldier, The Spy Museum, and some other places - too many for me to remember. She's got blisters on her blisters!
Been a long day, soon after I went in, we had a emergency case. I get the patient on bypass all of about 5 minutes and they page me about another patient that needs surgery. Well, after two such cases, I am finally getting home. The whole family is sleeping, at least the dog met me at the door.
I did some checking on the earlier post regarding Fred Rogers and Lee Marvin, etc. Some of the information is true, but the majority seems fabricated, or at least embellished. While Lee Marvin and Bob Keeshan were Marines, they did not get the Navy Cross. Marvin did get the Purple Heart for wounds while fighting in the pacific. Regardless of the stories, when the country called, these guys went. Try to find a actor in Hollywood that would drop everything and go.
On the train front, I need to head to Home Depot and pick up a few items to get the wiring done on the layout. If I get some peace and quiet this coming week, I should have it all done.
Chief, I will check the schedule and see about catching up with Y'all in Prattville.

An excellent choice, sir - here we have a few by MTH and Lionel - in the $55 range - a classic repro #60 is also available - these are my favorites - http://www.westernhobbycraft.com/ $125 and much prettier. Here are a few Corgi Birneys - from your favorite die cast dealer - about $50 plus $55 for a drop-in motor from Bowser. You want them all? (finger snaps) - wrap these up for Mr. Zeke!

Mornin' All
Trying to catch up on posts before going to work.
Happy Birthday Julia, have a fun day!
Cool this morning. Opein up every thing and turn on the exhaust fan to really cool things off.
Zeke-I'll keep your buddy and his wife in my prayers today.
As far as mouse traps, the old spring type is what I use. At work I caught a mouse in the breakroom microwave. Got an idea what happens when you microwave a mouse? They explode. I think it was the first time that microwave had been cleaned in years.
Off to work
May God bless
Jim
Morning to All
Zeke - thanks for the donuts they were yummy. As for your engine, sometimes it can be a little silly thing. Have you cleaned the commutator, replaced the brushes, and checked all the wiring good too? Sometimes a wire can have a short and visually it looks OK.
Thanks to all for the thoughts and comments on my uncle's passing. The pastor read a poem that my dad found on the internet "A Soldier Died Today", there was not a dry eye in the house. There was also a military escort that played taps and presented the flag to the family, yet again, not a dry eye in the cemetary.
On Wednesday night, my staff surpised me with a congratulations/farewell dinner. There was a huge crowd. Very nice affair, great food and good friends. Since I am a coffee lover and carry a cup of coffee all day, I often "misplace" my coffee cup which puts me in a quandry. My cup of joe has been left in almost every room in the school and then I have to hunt for it. As a parting shot, they had everyone bring me their favorite coffee mug. I've now got three huge boxes of coffee mugs. I have to figure out some way of displaying the mugs in my new office. May be I'll put a wall shelf around the top of the room (although I had hoped to put a train up there) or a set of racks with shaker pegs, or a mailbox unit with about 100 slots. I will have to think on that. Or maybe they'll go on eBay as a rare collection of coffee mugs for about $25,000.
Have a great day.

All this talk of mice! I went down to the train room after the Chief left the other night and saw a little brown mouse on the carpet. I put out some poison pellets and haven't seen or heard of him since!
The Pops were good last night and Julia had a great time. I'm tired this morning though. To bed after midnight and up at 5. Have to mow the lawn tonight for party tomorrow. Will mow a huge number 7 in the grass for my Julia!
The forum is slowing way down! Summer must be upon us.
Chief, I'm not causing any trouble over on OGR. People are posting nice replies after me for a change! Although I did e-mail Jeff Sohn about some painting advice and he never did reply...
Modeling the Baltimore waterfront in HO scale
Lots o' rain thast couple of days, now a nice steambath for the next few ('90's).
jaabat - Happy Birthday to Julia!!
Mice? Have 2 cats for that!
Mich Jim - sometimes it feels like your just typing and nobaody reads anything, but I've only doing this for a couple of months and found this bunch to be a great group (even though some of them are Johnny Rebs...). I get in from time to time and I echo what some of the guys have said. If your gone a while, there is a lot to catch up on, and sometimes you can forget whats being said and....what was I writing about?
I bought a TV last night, first time in 20 years. My set lasted this long...I bought a flat screen (tube). I'll save for a nicer one after Christmas.....this one was only $130!!
Have a good day all, and please remember the Charleston 9.

Good luck today..Buckeye.
The Dining Car just rolled in. Time for breakfast. Later.
Y'all have a great Friday.

Good morning all,
To parody the show "24", the following events could have taken place between 5:30 and 5:31 AM this morning:
Lucas: Dad, where's the sun?
Me: It's hiding.
Lucas: What is that falling from the sky?
Me: In the old days, long before I can remember, I think the oldtimers called it "Rain".
Lucas: What does it do?
Me: It makes the ground wet.
Lucas: Do you think we need to worry?
Me: No, it could be worse....it could be GRITS!!!
Jim A's comments about posting on the "other" forum reminds me of South Park, "OMG, they killed jaabat's post...you b******s!"
Seriously (or semi-seriously), we finally got (and are getting) some much needed rain today in SE Indiana with temps in the 80s. I finished the class last night, but had a late night. Hopefully next week will be back to normal. Sir James I, sometimes we can make several posts without anybody commenting, but I think most of the "regulars" do read every page. Sometimes we just get too busy to respond to everything and then sometimes even the smallest remark gets lots of attention. GRITS and Corvairs will definitely get responses. I had the regualr fare on the dining car before it heads out to "Points East" this morning. I hope everyone has a good day.
Keep on training,
Mike C. from Indiana
Anyone who takes my posts seriously needs to lighten up. I visit these forums to relax, have fun, and learn a few things. Once in a great while, I post something slightly informative. but that is a rarity. Still, I do find that many people do not share my humor, so I've been posting less to spare them my rapier wit!
Jim,
You have my vote so keep posting!

HI GIZ,
66 and nice here today.
Day off from laz CAMP. I need one day o week. Played GOLF against bro and didn't play bad but putted horrible. Had 3, 3 putts and a four putt on 4 holes and lost by 2 strokes. Got to start putting better then maybe I would win more. DAH!
JELECTRIC, Lake Tobias is about 8 miles from me. Nice place for the kidos.
Today is my 11th Wedding Anniversary to my beautiful wife PAM. Shes the one that lets me buy trains. 11 great years together. Asked her what or where she wants to go for dinner and we are having Crab Legs again. Yeah!
All have a good one.

We have a peace accord? I thought they threw grits and we threw buckeyes.
jaabat, I like your post on OGR read them all the time. Even toss in a few rounds myself sometime. I use a different Handle there. But this is different, we can talk to each other I assume we have to mention trains once in a while. No problem for me I love toy trains an don't care what size they are. Low 80's today but next week back to the 90's. Everyone enjoy the days we have. REGARDS to all, Mich. Jim

I didn't miss that comment, Brent. I was laying low hoping no one else picked up on it!

Which reminds me...what's brown and sits behind the piano? Beethoven's last movement!
The Boston Pops are usually broadcast nationally on July 4th and at Christmas each year. I believe A&E broadcasts the Christmas show. Not sure if they also show the 4th concert.
Morning all!
Laz and Pam - HAPPY ANNIVERSARY!
Jim A - post 'em up buddy!
Mich Jim - I have been to Traverse City a few times for work (ugh). BUt if you gotta work, what better place. I have biked the Rails-to-Trails line there (forget the name). Lot's o' fun! Nice restaurants there. Nice folks.
Mike C - Grits from the sky - you got that right!
I still owe my wife a dinner from our 21st on June 7th. We did the "all family" dinner. Been too busy to get out recently.
Have a great day all!
Good Morning from the Bluegrass
Well, its overcast here right now, probably gonna be another hot one. We're still way, way behind on rain, we got some the other day but its so dry that it never made it to the streams and creeks.
No train plans today, except maybe taking the NYC off a caboose I bought a couple weeks ago.
Gotta run my wife to an appointment in Nicholasville this afternoon, then tonight we have Relay For Life. So I doubt I'll get to the caboose today.
BTW, Happy Anniv. Laz!! So how long has she been picking up after you? *nevermind* would have helped if I ready your post. 11 years eh? My wife and I celebrate 11 on July 27th.
