Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a rainy 50 degrees. Going all the way up to 51 today, and rain. It is getting nasty out there. Ground is like a swamp.

Today, I have a couple of things to do and then I will spend time in the train room. I am still waiting on my switches from CA. Next week, I have to get some lumber and start the bracing. Just about have it figured out.

I'm looking forward to the Sunday Photo Fun, today. I want to see the pictures of a few people's benchwork and scenery.

Well, the Dining Car is here and well stocked. Everyone " points west " of here must have slept in. Later.

Y'all have a great Sunday.

Chuck

John Bakeer - You mentioned spell check.  Is there a British vs. US version?  i.e. colour (I think) vs. color

Morning.  Missed Early Church.  Rushing to make Sunday School.  Nic, NC has the Carolina Panthers in the NFL.  Your cousins are not nice.  Neither am I  as I am a Cowboys fan [like the Cowgirls better Shock [:O]Wink [;)]].  Jim F, we have scrapbook stores in NC just like we have train stores.  Was in MINN in 05, hotel let ladies meet in lobby every week for scrapbook club and work.  Sunny and warm.  Suppose to hit the mid 70's.  Will crash on Wed as high to be in the 30's. Shock [:O]  Later

Good Morning all from NE Ohio

Where the temp is 35 deg and will be falling with rain turing to snow. I guess winter will be with us for a few days or so.

Cheif - temp in the 30's could mean snow for you too !

Our last OTTS meeting was at Roger's house and he has a 2 rail scale 'O' gauge layout. What a great layout!

Good morning everyone,

Let me catch up with the first few pages. Laz and Jefelectric, I am deeply sorry for your losses. I scanned over the forum earlier in the week, and put you both in my prayers. Dennis, happy belated birthday, I'm glad you got what you wanted. Chief, I am happy to find that you have come such a long way with your benchwork. I will have to see it sometime when I go to Duke. Chuck, it is like that here too. The ground is soaked, the fog is thick, and it is a little chilly. Not the kind of weather that I like.

Good morning from a bleary-eyed Crystal Lake where the youngest suffered a bout with the stomach flu at 11 pm, 12, 2 3 and 4 am. Ah well, at least I get to stay home with him whilst everyone else goes off to church as I'm not working video today. And he's full of energy again. Wants to run trains in the basement. I'm fine with that. Three and a half-hours until kick-off. Nice and cold with a scattering of snow on the ground - to welcome the 'hawks.

Well, got my hobo musical tower, hobo depot, hobo handcar and hobo campfire out of the basement for the layout while I was digging out my lubricating supplies.  Also found my lumberjacks accessory.  I need to get some buttons so I can let the kids activate these from the edge of the layout instead of reaching over the train to turn the barrel etc.

$capbooking or crapbooking - women get together and make photo albums, decorating each page with lots of designer stuff.  My wife has about a zillion little doodads including weird scissors, cutters, presses with punches and dies, acid free paper in different patterns and colors, etc.  She loads up in some big rolling bags - think of someone showing up to set up a display at a big sales presentation.  Then they all sit around and ooh and ah over the pics, journal in the albums, etc.  She is making on album for each kid starting with out marriage and going through their births and up to date, as well as one for us.  So, one day, the kids will move out and have their own album to keep.  Actually, its kinda cool - but not anything I would ever do.

We had freezing rain last night, but haven't watched the news so don't know about farther north, above I44.  Today it was just wet pavement, but ice on the deck etc.  It melted during the day, but once the sun went down, it started freezing again.  Still drizzling and I guess it will continue through tomorrow and into Monday.  Need to get to Costco Monday to pick up Turbotax Deluxe for $21.  Still want to get out to the LHS as well.

Never got to the car today, so will have to do it tomorrow.  Nodding off, so good night ladies and gentlemen.

HI GIZ,

Another rainy one on tap today.  Gonna watch and see if sending DA MILLERSBURG 800 lb. BEAR to Chicago will make a difference?Wink [;)] GO BEARS!!!

JIM F.  Sounds like a lot of crap to meWink [;)]?  But hey if thats what blows her skirt up then its ok.  My wife is the same way with painting humming birds, dragonflies, frogs, turtles, oh well we like trains, I guess they need their own space.

Watched EAGLES (not FRANK CHIEF) lasr nite blow it,  guess they got to wait til next year.

  All have agood one.

I gotta see those trains run through the wallsShock [:O].  Chief, when they hit the wall does it mess up the front of the engine or as we saw in the movie, Silver Streak, they just take out the wall.

Either way, Congratulations!

Cabin fever - gotta get out of the house before I go crazy, so will try to get to LHS today.  Need to remove the white flannel from my layout, I just laid it over the brown stuff anyway - should have thought of that earlier.  Need to get wire, some straight O-27 track and a bumper.  Then maybe to Home Depot for some light fixtures for the basement.  Need to run a wire for another outlet just for the trains - maybe a double?  Then for another 3-way light switch for a hallway, a 4-way light switch for a bedroom, and light switch and outlet for bathroom.  Then finish stubbing in the plumbing, install shower, drywall...  Hmmm, still a lot of work left to do!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Hello All!   Don B- Your e-mail is in my e-mailbox & I read it. That was a nice 1688E set on that auction & the Freight Car's looked to be in better shape than the Engine or Tender combined. I have some 1688 sets with cars in the same condition as those above & they are hard to get. I hope Lionel makes them as part of the Prewar Celebration Series they have now. Good afternoon,

Don, Too bad you have to work in the bad weather. Sad [:(]

John Baker, Thanks for the translation.

Laz, The seahawks just went ahead.  Maybe the bear isn't doing his part.

lionroar88, How is the bear at your house doing today?

I finished up the catenary as far as I can go until I get to LHS for more.  Will have to do some improvising, since the double track on the shelf does not have room for poles along the outside.  Have a couple of ideas to try.

Hot here but a little windy.  Was going to take Crappie Jon to pond and fish.  Ended up cleaning up under shelter and cleaning the table saw and putting it away along with power handtools.  Cranked tractor and fogged Ranger boat motor [as I don't think I will get to the lake anytime soon].  Watered greenhouse.  Going to pond and bank fish later.  Wife not feeling good [again].  Got physical tomorrow.  Nice to have a female doctor for that. I think I finally finished the conversion of the Lionel NYC Mikado to an SAL.  I can't think of anything else the client could want changed.  I moved the bell to the front of the smokebox, had to hand make the mounting bracket; patched the original hole, painted all areas that were graphite gray, removed and relettered it.  I spent about an hour running the engine on my layout to give it a proper break in and to make sure everything works before I return it.

The next project is to add/make a Worthington water heater and add it to another NYC Mikado; paint and reletter.  The third project will be relettering some heavy weight pullmans. The fourth, if he finds another MIkado, is to attempt to make a compressor setup for the front end.

He's trying to get as many things as he remembers being run on the GA division of the SAL that he saw as a child growing up in Athens.  I wish Lionel made more SAL.  Oh well, keeps me busy and the money ain't bad.

Good evening all,

It is rainy and mild in SE Indiana with temps in the 40s today.  Went to the Y for a workout and the missus and I went to Rocky Balboa.  It was a good movie.  Glad I watched that instead seeing the Chargers blow the playoff game.  Got the houseword done today so I can run trains tomorrow on my day off.  Blueberry Hill, I slept in today after working yesterday.  I am glad the dining car arrived early for you.  Congrats to all the Bear fans on the forum.  The Colts fans were saying they wanted NE to win so the game would be at home.  After seeing them play in SD, I am not so sure that was a wise request.  Time for Desperate Housewives.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana
