Interesting weekend.  Was hoping to get to the OTTS meeting Friday night but by the time we finished eating at a local buffet restaurant it was too late to make the drive.  Also it was raining all day and was not easy to see driving around.

Spent time yesterday morning hanging wood shades in the family room.  Three adjoining windows that had curtains for over nine years.  Quite a difference in the looks of the room.  Spent the afternoon at two different flea markets.  Amazing sights one sees at these places.  There were Hawaiian performers at the Hartville flea market, as usual the music was way too loud if you were around the stage area.  Spent a grand total of 1.00 at one flea market and $10.00  at the other.  Then last evening we went to Kohls (hot date) and picked up a few things.  Had to spend a few more $ to reach MVC status for another year.  Karen got new tennis shoes that may come in handy next weekend, see below.

Today Karen and I went through clothes and things, put lots of them in bags to take to Goodwill.  Still have one closet to go through before making the trip.

Faced with a train show dilemma.  Was thinking about going to the Worlds Greatest Hobby show in Monroeville next weekend but now there is also a Great Train Expo in Columbus.  Since I don't need to buy anything I really shouldn't go to either.  However, it is fun to walk around a good size show just looking at the trains.

Will wrap this up as its time to call it a day.  Tomorrow will be a long day.  Have a meeting late in the day that will drag on and on.  One good thing is we will find out the basis for our 2006 "gainsharing" bonus.  No, can't spend it on trains this year, have other higher priority uses for it.

Goodnight all in the Pot.

Evening all.  Was a busy day with church and all.  The movie that our church did is coming out on DVD the end of this month.  I pre ordered 11 copies to send with a friend who is heading to Iraq next month with the Chaplain's group.  We are getting some more goodies together for them to bring.

Chief, picked up a book called "Steam Steel & Stars" with the photos of O.Winston Link.  Even with the primative equipment he had, he sure took some fantastic shots.

No work on the layout....again this week.  Too many honey dos and we have even more visitors coming this weekend.  I would be happy to spend a few days of just working on the layout.

Well, have a great day

Dennis

Laz - got plenty of deer meat in the freezer -(hubby put 4 in there this year).  We keep the tenderloin and sweet meat and have the rest ground up.  I use it for everything you would normally use hamburger for: meatloaf, spaghetti sauce, chili beans etc. Burgers on the grill are great. Dinner [dinner] Ever use Allegro seasoning for wild game?  Will need to make more jerky soon - it's been going fast.  Would send you some but I guess the Chief would intercept it again.  Whistling [:-^]

Like the Chief said - been warm and sunny here - record high temps today, 71 in January - Wierd!  Supposed to change Tues. afternoon - Supposed to have a high of 51 that day - in the am with temps falling to the mid-20's overnight and low 40's on Wed.

Laz, weren't you the one recommending The LIttle Choo-Choo Shop?  Finished my chores early Sat. and decided to ride to Spencer - only about 1 -1/4 hrs. from me - and wanted to see the Transportation Museum.  Really nice shop with a nice layout.  Still trying to figure out how I want to expand my 4x8 layout.  Might have a plan - working it out on some large pcs. of cardboard I pilfered from a local furniture store.

Frank53 - did you get my email with the pic of the hobo campfire?

 Anyone watch "24"???

Evening all, last night shift, get off in the morning and off till Friday dayshift.  Going to have to work on the truck tomorrow, alternator went out, $140 to replace, will look at a rebuild.  Won a 644 crane on the bay.  Happy with the price, needs a few parts, but that is how I buy them then fix them!  Maybe run trains while I'm off between reading and studying.  I want to take a picture of each of the accesories on the layout, if I get it done, that may be what I post nest week for photo fun.  All take care and be safe

Cool and damp here in Stockport, painter grafting away, should be finished tomorrow night.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is another rainy, day. 59 degrees and dropping later to 51. Suppose to turn to snow this evening. Flooding in lower areas. Ground is like a sponge.

Today, is a chore day around the house. Boys don't want to go out in the rain. Can't blame them. I worked on the layout for about 3 hours yesterday. Got a few things done, that needed to be completed. Later this afternoon, I may work some more on it.

Kind of quiet around here this morning. Sleeping late ?

Time for the Dining Car. Breakfast. Talk more later.

Y'all have a great Monday.

Winter has finally arrived in Iowa with freezing rain and snow.  I was judging jazz bands in NE IA from 8:00 a.m. to 6:00 p.m. on Saturday and then drove home through 3 1/2 hours of freezing rain.  Fortunately for me it was just the start of it and didn't see many cars/trucks in the ditches, if I had waited another hour it would have been much worse.  It began snowing here yesterday about noon and today we have about 4", not bad at all.  It's funny how relaxing and hanging out in the basement yesterday afternoon seemed compared to the day before.  Good to be home.

Just getting enough light now so  it's time to fire up the ATV with the blade and do about 100 yards of driveway.  It's a balmy 14 degrees so this ought to be fun.

Good morning from a slushy Chicago where I am one of the few at work today. I had to puzzle out how to turn on the main lights and the phones as the morning receptionists are all 'sick' today - so I was answering phones when the boss came in - that probably got me a brownie point for what it's worth.

Good Bears game yesterday - I can't believe they won. I was not impressed at the defense and Rex Grossman's untimely fumbles and interceptions even if he had almost 300 yds passing. Should be fun though welcoming the Saints to a frigid Soldier Field.

Had a lot of train running yesterday with the youngest. Unlike Laz, had a few side-swipes on curves where the tracks are too close. Have some minor maintenance to do to move them around. I also noticed the tape holding all my hills to the hanging backdrop is unsticking. I think I will re-cut the hills to be lower. Maybe that'll work.

Been real hectic here at the "AutoWorld", Someone lost keys to a car that needed to leave here and I spent 2 hours trying to find 'em.  Salesperson had 'em in their desk.  GO figure.....Banged Head [banghead]

Over the weekend, I cleaned out some of the garage and installed my 4X8 layout.  Had to combine the Christmas with the regular stuff, so.....

I actually finished cleaning up after Christmas, so I'm up to putting 2 more bins in the attic then Christmas is officially over.  I'll have no time to get the new layout started.  Hopefully I can design something on my trip to NJ.

Warm & partly sunny today up to 80F.  This just ain't January......!

Have a great day...I'm working....SOMEONE has to keep this economy rolling!!!Whistling [:-^]

Good morning all,

It is rainy and mild (for now) in SE Indiana where the temps are in the high 40s but are supposed to drop to the 20s today with some light snow.  Chuck was right as I slept in this morning.  Tomorrow "Points West" will be early.  I may run some trains today and I have to get the oil change on the PT Cruiser.  It is a quiet day and I am enjoying it.  I hope the exam for the Chief goes well, and I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

I spent most of the morning starting to remove the fence, 3 rail 2X6's, out front of the house.  After the first 20' hit a nail and had to sharpen the chain saw.  Got 100' done, only 500' to go.

Humid, cloudy and threatning rain, should rain this afternoon/evening.  Think I'll take a shower, have lunch and spend a couple hours running trains.

Its nice not having a regular job again, though I work harder at home.

Morning/afternoon all!

Cold here and clearing. High 20's today. Media blew the big ICE storm of 2007 completely out of proportion as usual. Predicted 1 inch of ice. In the Dallas area we got maybe .1 inch and it was essentially gone by the time we got up today. A few bridges needed sanding. One or two confined areas in the metroplex got a coating, but not widespread. The media hoopla negatively affected the Plano train show attendance. Media kept saying the roads were freezing. Had folks who drove in from Fort Worth. Wet roads - no ice. Media shold report the news - not what they think the news should be - gets worse every year. When they couldn't find any big ice accumulation here after 2 days, they started reporting from OK and near the panhandle where they could find some ice.

Buckeye - LOL

The cold here must be due to another layout push by the Chief.

Head out to NYC Wed for the Grand Central Terminal Lionel layout disassembly, packing, and shipping for storage.

Have a great day all!

Regards, Roy

Good afternoon, all! Cloudy and warm here in central Alabama - 74 degrees with rain coming later, then back down in the 20s by tomorrow night. Go figure!

Pretty normal Monday here in Prattville. Made some hospital visits including one to a family with a new baby boy (their first) which is always fun. Staff meeting early, meeting with insurance agent to renew church's policy, return phone calls, then visiting some prospects this evening. Typical day in the life of a Baptist minister.

Chief - Hope the physical exam goes well.

My toy train enthusiasm begins to wane as the holidays are over. Seems like I have the same cycle each year - winter: momentum from Christmas and a few purchases, dream about a new layout. Spring - less interest as yard work begins to take time, still posting on forum and one or two purchases. Summer - Busy with church activities, mission trips, planning for the fall. Almost no interest in trains during hot weather, posting is sporadic. Fall - interest picks up as the leaves begin to change. Plans begin and are implemented for the Thanksgiving - Christmas layout. And the cycle continues . . . Smile [:)]

Chief, hope she is on the mend.  Also hope the physical went OK.  We had some sick kids this weekend, but I think all is better.  Kim will be home with them while I am working.  No mail today for MLK, but I am waiting on a delivery of scale autos from MotorMint, been since November 30th and I am getting anxious.  not much else to report.  Plan on workin on the layout tonight.

Has anybody heard how the Chief's oil and lube job turned out?  Of course if he ate less grits and drank less sweet tea, shoveled snow and stayed out of Roseyville, he would be healthy as a horse.

Evening all...

Went to the York Show yesterday with wife in tow... we saw some awesome deals but refrained from purchasing too much since we want to get the house work started, get the house on the market, and start building the new one!

Anyhoo - picked up the Lionel Road Crew, flickering fire barrel, and a conductor with lantern that lights up.  Really wanted the A-B-A Chessie F-7s I saw, oh well, another day.

Still nothing from CharlesRo, and the US mail was off today!

Wife and I did some house shoping yesterday... found a few possibilities...

Well I'm off to make a call to a particular hobby store...

Fife - no that wasn't me... I was the guying trying to keep up with the lady walking incredibly fast out of the stadium!

I hope it turns out to be a Colts/Saints SB and the Saints win it!  Would love to see San Diego's discharge win the SB!!!  LOL!

Sorry Laz!
