Jaabat,

As far as how I got the March CTT so early, let's just say it helps to know people :-)  Actually, they send contributors an "early edition", which is kind of a nice gesture on their part.  Normally I would not mention it, but some of the people here take great delight in announcing how early they got their copy, and I decided to tweak them a little by beating them all to the punch :-)  It is a good issue, but then they all are.

Keep on training,

Mike C. from Indiana

Hey guys - well I got Norton Internet Security working on both computers, but not systemworks.  Won't work.  I'll wait a week and see if it works then.

John & Hobo -very sorry to hear of your losses.  This seems like a tough time of year.  God bless you and your families.

Well, I'm off tomorrow - have to get the Chevy truck (Colorado) fixed due to a recall and also needs a service.  Then, I have some wiring to do on my little layout and some stuff to watch still on dvd, so I'm sure I'll fill up the day.  Can't wait to see the new Lionel catalog - checking the countdown each day.

Roger, thanks for sending out those emails - I've got a ton of emails I need to sift through on my desktop, so maybe get that done tomorrow too.  I sure appreciate the emails I get from you and the guys!

No new train purchases this week - at least so far, but I have a bid on a Lionel Derrick car for my lumber industry.  TTFN!

RIP Chewy - best dog I ever had.

Evening Gents...

In Phoenix for the NBA game on TNT.  Get to fly all the way home tomorrow only to turn back on Saturday to LA.  So far no big chair tomorrow Chief Dead [xx(]  Got it on the way back to LA though.  Thinking about getting the Penssy expansion passenger pack to run behind the Polar Express while on the layout downstairs.  Picking up some videos too for the long flight back to LA.

Everyone have a great evening!

Endoscopes;

I've had the doubtful luck to have been seen throuugh every orifice.

0530GMT been up since 0430 here in jolly old Stockport, got a head ache and rumbling guts thanks to an excess of Robinsons tamped down with a very large Chicken Kebab with extra onions and garlic, burp-ooch!! Current Mood Wiped Out

Just after I had ordered my first Lionel train set the painter turned up, so my credit card is going to be full again. Still, can't take it with you.

Any of you guys follow Footy? What do you think of LA Galaxy paying Beckham $492,000.00 a week for kicking a bag of wind around a field? Nobody is worth that much! Makes my $28,000.00 a year look sick.

Mike,

I know you got your issue early because you were a contributor. What I want to know is, what did you contribute to that issue? Was it a photo? Was it an article? Was it an ad? Were you sworn to secrecy? Stop holding out on us, Mike. We want to know . . .

Good morning all, from a mild New England. Looking forward to a 3 day weekend. I could get used to them! We ran trains briefly last night before heading to the in-laws for dinner. Came home stuffed and tired.

Not much is new here. Brownie scouts tonight. I will duck out and get my hair cut and maybe poke around the hardware store until the meeting is over.

Funny and true:
So after lunch the other day, the Chief orders this huge dessert. Ice cream, sauce, and pecans. Monsterous in its size. As big as his head! The waitress asked me what I'd like and I told her I didn't want dessert. Then she asks us if she should bring 2 spoons! I said, "Lady, we aren't on a date". I thought the Chief was going to bust a gut! Even the waitress busted up. That's my story for today.

Jim,  You were lucky.  Most of the time when one has a meal with the Chief, he asks just about everyone in the place to join him in sharing the desert.

I didn 't even know Mike C. had a layout?  I can't remember any photos, so what did he write about?

The weather says that some of you may get ice.  Be careful and good luck.

See ya down the tracks.

Good morning all,

It is warm and rainy with temps in the 50s in SE Indiana.  Jaabat, I wrote an article about the postwar 520 electric engine and how the shell was used for various postwar, MPC, and Postwar Celebration items.  Buckeye, I do have a fairly small (4x11) standard gauge layout that is not even close to having pictures posted here on the forum (much less for appearing in CTT).  It is just painted plywood, but I do enjoy running trains on it.  The avatar I posted is from when the team my daughter and I played on won the soccer championship last year.  It is the only digital photos I have.  John Bakeer, there are a few of us soccer (football) fanatics on the forum.  I think Tmcc Man plays the game, and there may be more.  As far as Beckham is concerned, if he can light a fire in the American fans, that would be great, but the closest team to me is the Columbus Crew, which is at least three hours away.  I would have to do some major talking to the missus to persuade her to go.  I will send the dining car from "Points West" to Blueberry Hill with some goodies left on it.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Mike,

Congratulations on your upcoming article!!!!! As a 520 fan, and a forum friend, I doubly look forward to reading it. You're so quiet and unassuming. Who knew? It's really great to see one of us on the forum appear in the pages of CTT. I hope you are more proud than you let on. You should be!

Again, congratulations, Mike!

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a 46 degree day with light showers. Going up to 52 today and , also, light showers. So, it's gonna rain today. Yuk.

Today is a work around the house day. Have a few chores to do. I will be in the train room this afternoon, running trains and working on the layout. I should be getting my 022 switches from CA today. Now, I will have all the stuff to make the new section happen.

Jim....You are saying that Chief..ate the entire dessert ??

Well, the Dining Car just rolled in from " Points West " and it looks like the guys ( Mike and Buckeye ) , left me some breakfast. Time to eat.

Y'all have a great Friday.

Jaabat,

Thank you for the compliment.  CTT has been very good to me over the years, and they seem to think my writing has some merit.  I have had the privilege of meeting most of the staff from time and time, and as the Chief can attest, they have some nice facilities there.  I enjoyed the comments about the Chief and dessert.  I hope everyone has a good day.

Good morning every one.  Looks like I had some catching up to do. I've been slammed here at work, and tried to catch up last night and this morning.  The kids are off today (a weather day...is this a Southern thing?  Snow days I understand!) and Monday, so the traffic is better.  Of course, scholl was out for almost 3 weeks, now this.  I don't get it....

Laz & John, my condolences to you both.  I lost my Godfather(Uncle) right around this time last year.  I believe that if you remember those who have gone in your heart, they always live on.

Chief, glad you made it back here.  I will be heading BACK to the land of the Union Friday for my annual Firemans Installation dinner.  A good time to catch up, have a few drinks and visit the Family(capitalized because we're Italian descentWink [;)]).  Of course we'll make the rounds to the LHS's that dot the Central Jersey area.

It's 50 now going to 72 today.  More like spring in Jersey than Winter in Florida, I think.

Well, I'm off to see the Wizard (the Boss), so back to work I go....( 2 movies references in 1 sentence..is that a violation of something?)

Later all, make it a great day!

Morning all, I survived my birthday.  Cake with the wife and kids.  Got a nice Lionel light with the 700E engine.  It will be a nice addition to the train room.  My real presents are arriving today, a MTH Hudson and Lionel bridge.  I requested to be taken off of the train restriction for one day at the end of the month as there will be a trainshow in town.  I am getting a hold of one of the vendors to put my order in ahead of time $Smile,Wink, & Grin [swg]$.

Laz, hope you got my email about the auction.  With 2 hours left, the K-line engine pair was still $150.  Looked like a good deal, but I didn't want to push the wrong buttons with my bride.  She does have her limits, and so far, I have stayed on the good side.

Chief, it sounds like you had a good invasion to the north.  I hope you had time to plant plenty of exploding Grits Mines up that way.

Well, I am off to Hobby Lobby.  Found that they have some Jerry Cans and other implements in 1/48th scale.  I hope to add these to the layout.  Also want to check to see if that Bozo of a manager finally cut the price on K-line trains.  He was supposed to do so several months ago.  I told him someone would have to be a moron to pay full price for them.

Anyway, have a great day Y'all.

Dennis

Mitch hit the nail on the head with posting pics.  With this software I cannot use Safari to post pics and I deleted IE a LONG time ago, worthless.  Firefox works very well but it's still a tedious procedure but attainable.

Let us know if we can help.

Another strange day in Maryland!

Woke up this morning and it was 42 degrees... yesterday 19 in the AM, today 42!

Clear today - rain tomorrow, Sunday and Monday - great, have a 3 day weekend and it rains the entire time! Disapprove [V]

Well at least I'll get to play with the trains!  Ordered an EOB Board from TAS yesterday, should be here today or tomorrow.  So hopefully I'll be able to get it installed this weekend and post a video afterwards!  Thumbs Up [tup]  My first upgrade I'll be doing to an engine...

Still had a box on my porch last night... set it out again this morning... hopefully they pick this thing up today!  Wife is getting suspicious of the 'package on the porch'... I told her it is a return to a train store for something I didn't order!  Big Smile [:D]  100% true so I'm not lying to her!  Just didn't tell her it was sent in error for something I did buy!

Good morning from a foggy and warm Chicago where I'm still waiting for the temp to drop as the weather people predicted.  I'm looking forward to that article on the 520.  I think Beckham's 'coming to America' is great. He already likes LA - it's perfect for him and his brand of celebrity: his soccer camps are big out there too

'Morning, all! Warmer today with rain expected tomorrow or Sunday.

John B.- Soccer is definitely the poor neglected step-child of sports in the U.S. American football, basketball, baseball and even ice hockey are firmly entrenched as the favorites of most. There does seem to be a growing interest among the younger generation, however. My nephew is a pretty good soccer player at his high school - the only team sport he plays. It will take some time, but soccer has a good chance of gaining in popularity in the states. Beckham's arrival won't hurt.

Dennis, sounds like you had a nice birthday. Life picks up speed after forty. After all, it's all down-hill! Big Smile [:D]Wink [;)]

Here it is, lunch time in Lexington. The morning went by rather fast. A quick surf at lunch shows not much new activity around these parts or OGR. About ready to die from boredom!

Lazberry, I think I'm going to get the kids one of those magnetic cranes now that I know they don't need rails.

3 Day weekend coming up. Some iffy weather may be on the way here for Sunday/Monday. I've got plenty to do around the house, and I'm sure we'll run a train or two.

Mike, I think I've told you before how much I enjoyed those freight car articles. Call me Jim.

I was reading about Yvonne DeCarlo dying. The write up said she was a hottie back in her day, so I "Googled" her photos. First page - BAM! Topless!!!!!! Shock [:O] Mrs. Munster . . . !

Have a nice weekend, everyone. And stay away from that Yvonne DeCarlo image search!!
