LOL!  Thanks for the tip guys.  I'm not in that position when chiseling, I'm off to the side where the camera is, so if I was in the correct position you would only see my leg and the area on the other side is a mess...

Don - no contractor's license for me!  I'm about dead right now.  I have the tub base surround almost completely hardi-boarded.  Susan wanted a step built in front so I have that done and the only part to be hardi-boarded is the top of the step.  When I get back from Lowes/Sears/BestBuy I am going to finish the step and get the hardi-board up on the walls behind the tub.  Then I'll get the drywall patched around the hardi-board and the tub area will be completely prepped.  Next I'm onto the shower... have to remove the tile/drywall, install the new shower hardware, and then hang hardi-board.  That should take me till Susan gets home from work... maybe a bit later.  Hope to have the tile removed from the toilet room tonight as well.  Tomorrow I'll get the toilet supply line moved (comes through the floor and I don't like that) so it comes out of the wall.  That will bring me to the finishing stages of prep, just have to sand and smooth out the drywall patches, then prime the toilet room (it is currently painted a hideous dark green) and drywall patches, then I'll be ready to start rebuilding!

JimA, if I lived closer I'd give you a hand with that bathroom remodel.  I learned everything I know from watching This Old House, Bob Villa's Home Again, Home Time(?), and just about any other home improvement show I could get on TV!  Tool Time showed me how NOT to do things, and yet I pull a Tim Taylor every now and again!  Key is to take your time, measure three times, mark your material, measure again, check material marks, and then cut... Key #2 watch out for water lines... it sucks when you hit one with a nail gun and then have to rip out everything you just did to fix the water line and then redo your work.

Brutus - It is an air compressor type.  I don't like the cordless types because they run out of power too quick and buying 6 batteries and 5 quick chargers isn't my idea of a smart investment.  With the air compressor, all I have to do is buy the tools I need as I need them.  I have 150 ft of hose and want to get another 100 ft soon (christmas).

Just noticed the banner ad on the forum for an auction in Roseville, Illinois. Who knew there was another similarly-named burg in North Carolina?

John, the only CTA I know is Chicago Transit Authority. I'd love to go to an open house there. I'll bet it's a TCA open house - aren't they also based in York?

Afternoon.  Had to go to the bank [you know why $$$$$] for a deposit.  Had to meet with Town Staff for a little, well another screw up.  No wonder we have been having problems getting things across to others.  Been on phone trying to straighten out the mess.  No trip to Lowes as planned to get board for divider on layout.  Now a meeting with Schools this afternoon.  Day shot.

Good afternoon,

Still busy working on reunion project, hope to finish today.  Saturday had to replace the sump pump along with some of the piping, lots of fun.

Brent, Nice self photo in the mirror.

Is anyone planning to take in the CTA openhouse on Wednesday before York?

Take care,

What a weekend!  Went to Deland for the train show, many good bargoons, yet I didn't partake. MANY MANY American Flyer pieces there (thought of you Jim S).  There was a PRR CamelBack MTH with Loco sounds at $179 and he was going to lower the price...!  Just wasn't in the budget.  Someone picked up a T1 matching 4 car passenger set (Lionel) for $85!!! I was 5 minutes too late for that one. Past it and came back...gonski! On the way home, followed the CSX tracks (along US 17) and raced an Amtrack #159 @ 85mph for about 5 miles...pretty cool, sorry, no pictures though(flying solo on this trip!)

Worked on the layout yesterday, moving & rewiring things up and out of the way.  Watched the NASCAR race, shut it off when I saw the Chevy twins pushing past the Mopars.  Kurt Busch looing strong now in the top 7!!

No rain today...drying out finally!  Yup, I am working on the Italian Holiday!!

Don,

I never had an avatar before, so I figured I'd scan a recent photo in.   After I talked with Keith last night, I figured that since we are going to meet at the show in Pittsburgh next month, it might make things easier if Keith knew who to look for.  Also, MartyE goes to the same LHS that I occasionally visit, and I think I may have seen him there before, but I didn't introduce myself because I thought he would not recognize me.  I'll be back later.

Good Morning ALL,  Happy Columbus Day, especially to the ones with the day OFF !

Put together a pretty good post last night, but had a couple of problems.  Feel asleep at the keyboard, woke up at 2 am, with a stiff neck.  Tried to post it and go to bed, but the server was down.  So OK I saved it but did the copy part, and feel asleep again trying to do the save part.  Pretty Bad!!

So start all over........

Didn't get any video done, but spent the entire day working on the Engine Yard area putting track down.  That all went pretty well.  I think I'm going to have to move a couple of spurs just a triffle for better clearance.  Also I got a good deal on a Heljan Engine shed about a year and half ago.  So I got 2 of them not knowing where I would put them.  They are about 28" long and I really need 32", so going to see about extending it with the second kit, then have a shorter one somewhere else.  Should work.

Anyway track cutting, laying went pretty well.  Took time out for dinner, (Lasagna, tired of pot pies), then cleaned up room a bit.

Wife getting a little frustrated with parents, she's been ready to start home for a week, don't think they will be leaving Dulth till Wed or Thur, probably another 2 weeks, before she's home.  Told here to check out train stuff and take pictures.

Hopefully Monday night get some work done on the Classification Yard.  Need to get wiring done on switches sure would make it easier than running around ducking under bridges throwing them manually.

Comments on Posts;

Doug - Hope the vandalism stops!  What happened to old fashioned toilet papering?

Mike C - Sorry to hear about your FIL, Prayers and Best Wishes for your wife and family!

Chief - Have you decided what your going to spend that prize on?  You can just send it out here, I will invest it for you.  That way you wouldn't have any unnecessary stress.

Brutus - It's all those "mischevious things" that we do, is why they like us so much!  BTW those 4 windows look pretty good here, they are definetly brown on my screen.  The extra caulking is just going to make them that much more waterproof.

Brent - Your working way to hard!  Slow Down!!  I feel I've done good if I get a couple of light bulbs replaced or trash can liners put in.  What do you have for breakfast?

Buckeye - You guys would have better response if that "Golden Lionel Hudson" wasn't one of those Licensed Lionel key rings.   Dennis, I would be very suspcious of their offer, seems strangly subversive.

Mel - That coal tipple is really awesome!  Must be a real crowd pleaser.  The space requirement must have happered the sales when it was introduced.  I have never seen one.  Kinda looks like a MRI vault, wonder if you could put a couple of heat coils on it and make popcorn?

Jimtrumpie - Is that a new avatar?  Your younger than I imagined. Laugh [(-D]

Sir James - Did they ever "loose" a car on those tipples?  Seems such a bazaar way to empty them!

Dennis - Sure sounds like your making major progress on the new movie.  I'm sure the majority of the friction is a result of just goofing around, kidding someone, and it is misunderstood.

Kurt - Sounds like a interesting 2 day trip, found one closed train store!  These are the type of trips memories are made of, at least everyone arrived home safe!

Roy - Are you sure you don't need another assistant at York?  Lets see I could, strip wires, crimp terminals, check for shorts (circuits), and certainly run trains.  Say Hi to George, and the Mikado he recommended is really great, probably my favorite!!

Then there is Chuck, and what is he doing today?  Playing mind games with the dog.  Tricking him to go for a ride, only to end up at the vet.  Nascar race was OK, but it is just to sanitized today.  Wont be long and in order to cut costs I think they could eliminate the tracks, and just have everyone set at a video machine.  Needs to be more flexibility with the cars!

Jumijo - Now think about that a bit, Tazmania could be a bit unreasonable.  Look how far you would have to go to the LHS, you certainly would have to be there as a chaperone, anyway isn't the new TV intended for the whole family?  At least they arn't drawing pictures on the screen.

Brent - You need to be careful with that Chisel !  Don't hit it too hard, could result in a long lasting memory!  BTW, when you getting your contractors license?

Have a great day ALL, some of us have to work, UGH !!

Morning from a quiet, sunny and hot Chicago where the Bears and Notre Dame finally won and the Cubs lost so all is well with the world. Lots of media gnashing about runners in the Chicago marathon affected by the heat. I have the obvious solution: sit in shady area with cold beverage(s) and watch others run... Hope to run the Rail Zepp later tonight.

Jim T, fortunately for me, the cars were in the garage. Heat-baked dried egg on the side of the house is like tempura paint - tough to get off. But not worth getting too worried about.

Jim A, we have that color in the house too - it has a fancy name. Looks like light brown to me. My suggestion of North Shore Electroliner teal was not well received.

Kurt, where do you think I got them?

Plenty more work to get done, so with that, I'm off.

This is what I was talking about with tile removal... Notice the positioning of the chisle blade... this is key so you don't gouge the floor boards!

This is the Bathroom Pre and Mid remodel:

This is the toilet room that I haven't touched yet, other than to remove the toilet paper holder and door.

It's raining to beat the band here. Good day to stay inside and get some work done.

Brent, not sure which Jim you were talking to, but it doesn't matter to me about the photos. I realize that you've been busy. I wish I knew how to do all those things you've taken on.

Haven't run trains in several day. Too busy. But did manage to sleep late today - 7:30. The boys woke me up talking. "I just shut the darn thing off". One of them said. That made us jump out of bed to see what they were tampering with. It was the new tv. I wish I could ship those two off to Tazmania sometimes.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It is a sunny 66 degrees. Going up to 90, with sunshine. It's gonna be a hot day.

Today, I am taking the dog to the Vet's for his annual shots. He loves to ride in the car. Doesn't care too much for the Vet. Then, I will finish mowing. Back yard only. Then it's all done. Not growing too much. Maybe later, I will take an hour or two and run trains.

Indians lost to NY last night. Going to game #4 today.

Dining car is here and it's time for breakfast. Later.

Y'all have a great Monday.

Good morning all!

Let me be the first to wish you a a happy Columbus day!

Of to KC this morning. Back later this week. York next week (looking forward to the break).

Hope everyone is well. Been awfully busy the last few days and no time to post.

My high school robotics team is running full bore until the competition in a few weeks. We met most of Saturday and they are meeting again today even though it is a school holiday. My elementary school robotics team starts up in a couple of weeks.

Off to the airport.

Morning!

Gone for 2-days, and I see everyone is still at each others throats!

"Great" trip.  Kids were a mess 2- new places to not sleep, or want to eat at.  Ahh bliss.  Great to see all the relatives.

My cousins live across the street from very active tracks!  Every 15-20 minutes trains going by...A lot of NS a few CSX, I also saw a Santa Fe GP backed up to a Conrail.  Mixed freight.  Oldest got tired of looking at trains, she'd hear the horn, yell Trains! and spring up to look out the front window.  That worked about 10-times.  We took a walk to see a caboose and possibly a MOW car...in the park, will post later.  Girls were too tired to walk to the tracks to get closer look at the trains going by.  Also saw them unloading scrap steel at the Inland Steel plant (under a different name) from the bridge.  Covered area with magnetic crane inside unloading gondolas.

Found train store in Merrillville, IN, but  it was closed.  It was a drive-by since wife is not encouraging the train thing.

Good to be back home.

Good night all.  Glad to see the tiple is working.  Took up too much room for me.  It is a great action thing.  See Buckeye is expanding.  That looks great too.  Got to get my K-Line fishing boy on tressel installed.  Going to put mine in the back corner behind the mountain/divider.  Hope to go to Lowe's tomorrow and get the sheet for the mountain/divider.  Then paint sky and mountains on both sides.  Off to bed.

Hey Dennis - sounds like this movie is really moving along!  My sister saw the other one and recommended it so I'll have to go get a copy -- she's always right about these things!

Sir James - it was pretty warm here today and no rain - all week they promised rain this weekend.  I'll need to water pretty soon.

Quick stop before bed.  Hope everyone has had a great weekend and that services were blessed.  Did camera on the morning service, went out to our usual post church lunch and then got called in for an emergency.  Just finished with that and then rushed back for evening services and made it as they were singing the first song.

Seems to be a bit of friction amoung some folks.  Hope it quiets down as the people here are too good to let small issues cool the Pot.  Anyway, no train work today.  I have been too busy getting ready for my niece's visit.  Kind of a whirlwind thing in that we are flying her down from New York tomorrow night, then she will work her craft on one of the characters for the movie, and then fly her back to New York at 5pm. on Tuesday.  She is a FX artist, which are the folks who do special effects for the movies.  Hopefully this will be a big help to the picture, and also will help her in her career.

Hope to catch up with Y'all in the next few days

Dennis

They use to have coal tipples on the shoreline of the muddy Maumee river in Toledo. they would load the coal into lake freighters, loooog lines of hoppers pushed by steam engines. We would sit across the river and watch, one car at a time tipped upside down and back. Boy long time ago.

went to 89 today,88 tomorrow would be a new record high and expected. Sir James
