Evening all,

I hope all is well with everyone.

On a break at work.Whistling [:-^]  Last night shift.

Beautiful outside today!  Spring is coming!!!  About time to till the garden and set out peas.  Grandkids were up and we ran trains, read CTT mags, and played with blocks before I came to work.

The CTT delivery truck looks so cool, I would love to have one but it would be way too big on the layout, and I can't see paying that much for a shelf piece.  I would pay the price for one in 1/64.

Looking forward to a few days off, planning to run trains, clean up cars and truck weather permitting, run trains.  Got to maintain balance.  You all have a nice evening

Been a fairly busy weekend.  Yesterday started out normal enough, got my hair cut (Karen thinks its too short).  Afterwards Karen and I went to Lowes to see what they had in the way of tankless water heaters.  Ours is almost ten years old and it won't be too long until it needs replaced.  Lots and lots of tank water heaters but only saw one tankless heater and wasn't impressed.  I always check out the toy, er, tool section when there and was looking at table saws.  Was also looking for information on workbench design since I have been planning to rebuild the base of my workbench, I want the base to have storage compartments, etc.  Didn't find any plans at Lowes so we went to Borders which is at the other end of the "Strip."  Looked at the woodworking magazines and a few books.  Wasn't going to pay 30 dollars for a book that had one interesting diagram for a work bench.  It was about lunch time when we left Borders so we decided to stop for lunch but I wanted to check one more place for work bench plans.

After a sumptuous meal at Mickey D's we went to Hartville Hardware (they advertise in some wood working magazines) because they have a large woodworking section and is one of my favorite "non-train" toy stores.  HH had the same Delta table saw that Lowes had but with more fence options.  Also, HH had info on rebates that varied depending upon which fence system you bought.  Well to make a short story even shorter, I bought the table saw and a "unifence." Oh, almost forgot, also bought the book I found on work benches.  Expensive book!  Decided not to work on assembling the saw yesterday afternoon, instead washed my car and Karen's Trailblazer.  Needed to get the salt residue off of them.

Spent several hours today working on assembling the saw.  Talk about complex kits!  Still have quite a bit to do, haven't even opened the fence box yet.  Enough for now, will post progress reports.

Good evening everyone,

It's been four days since I have checked into the pot.  Jean and I have been in Philly & enjoyed the break, but I had a small mishap with luggage on the way home and dislocated the middle finger of my left hand (typing this with a hand & a half).  spent some time in the ER and to see a specialist as soon as I can get an appointment.  ER Doc thinks their is tendon damage also as it wont stay back in place, now taped and imobilized.

I will try to catch up tomorrow with what I missed.

 Take care,

What a day it's been.  After I mentioned the little one trying to put my wife's shoes on my feet (BIG difference in our shoe sizes, wife is petite, I am not), I got a call from one friend that I helped get into Med school.  He is looking for a job when he graduates.  Had to cut the call short as had to get back to evening church.  Then, get home and check my email.  Another friend that I did internship with is the main guy at a hospital in Chicago and is looking for someone.  Just a matter of getting the information to both of them.

Then, while sitting on the couch with my 2yo daughter next to me, I feel this warm feeling and she yells out that she has to pee pee........too late!  Oh well, potty training is wonderful.  Now it is time to get to bed as I have the early cases tomorrow.

Oh by the way, it was a very warm 81 when I went to church this morning.  Got a little warmer, but not much.  I think it may be time to get the yard in shape.

God Bless,

Dennis

John, sorry, I was typing while you were posting.  Sorry to hear about your injury.  Certainly make sure you see a specialist as it can make a big difference in the mobility you will have in the future.

Evening all!

Spring break this week so kids home all week.

John - sorry to hear about your injury. Hope it turns out well. A grits compress will help!

Spent today doing more yardwork and trimming bushes and trees.

Starting to rain - we really need it. Weather service says it could rain all day tomorrow. Temps hit 80 again. About 10 degrees above norms for this time of the year.

Hope all have a great day tomorrow.

Regards, Roy

Good Evening, or shall I say good morning.

What a beautiful day we had today.  Wonderful church service, afterwards my wife and kids ate lunch outside on the deck in the sunshine and then watched the kids torment the cats.  Smile [:)]  Ran the train for a few minutes.  Tomorrow I'm going to Lowes to pick up some 2x2's that will give extra support between the 2x4 frame.  Once this is done and the 2" insulation board is added there should be plenty of support in the table for the train anywhere on the proposed line.

Also many thanks to Scott for the deal on the PE tender; you'll be hearing from me soon enough.

Must have been tried.  Sat down in recliner with TV tray in lap and ate dinner [steak].  Finished and was watching a western.  Lab just woke me up [still had tray in lap].  Oh well, today [not tomorrow].  Great event this weekend.  Gooood night.

JOHN, you have my sympathy, my little pinkie is still semi-derelict after 4 months, saw the man last week, he says it'll be another 2 months before I can stop wearing the splint and stall.

1030GMT in Stockport, cloudy and mild +11C weekend was glorious. Niece and OM safely back home in bonny Scotland, am feeling a bit ropey today saw off a couple of bottles of single malt over their stay, back to Robinsons for now.

The Sunday Times is available in Manchester Saturday lunchtime, to nights Manchester Evening News was at my newsagent 0930 this morning.

Good morning from a warm New England!

Temps expected to hit 60 most of the week!!! Yeah, baby!

I missed a local train show yesterday, but it wasn't a big one, so I'm not upset. Besides, that one is mostly HO and N scale stuff.

Yesterday I had our NYC 4-4-2 starter set loco pulling a long string of hoppers. Boy, was it smoking to beat the band! The inner loop had a starter set from 1952 running. It consisted of a  2034, 6066T, 6035, 6032, 6037.

Last night we went out to eat and back to my SIL's house for a birthday party.

Still getting used to the time change. This might take a while!

Good morning all,

It is another warm and sunny day in SE Indiana with temps in the 60s again.  I had a nice drive into work and even saw a train, which made it even nicer.  I love DST as it is dark in the morning when I am not awake and light later in the evening when I can use it.  I better get the dining car headed to "Points East".  I hope everyone has a good day.

Keep on training,

Rough weekend...

Saturday wife and I presure washed the mossy side of the house - got about 1/3 of it done... need a scaffold or a sturdier ladder... borrowed a friend's beefier power washer on Sunday, messed up my outter two fingers on right hand (and I'm right handed), they are numb and do not have full mobility (they twitch alot and seem to have a mind of their own), good thing I'm visiting the doc this afternoon, think I have some ligament damage.  Got email from Fifedog about running trains tomorrow - told wife not to call till after 8pm tomorrow... Smile [:)]

Fife, the 0-8-0 got jealous and demanded a transport as well as she wants to stretch her legs too!  May bring the 681 along too... gotta have a fix of postwar, and Frank53 would be disappointed in us if we got together and didn't run some postwar in his honor!

Buying new rims for the bimmer today... custom 17s off a 2002 M5... then upgrading the rubber from 205/60R16 to 245/45R17, going to add .01 inches to the diameter, but nearly an inch to the width.  Should make handling much better and summer driving a blast! Evil [}:)]Big Smile [:D]Mischief [:-,]Cool [8D]

OH - supposed to hit 72 here on Wednesday!  Hope it rains in LA as wife will be there for training!  Told her I should send her to cooking school... burnt water doesn't taste good... had fun making up... Mischief [:-,]

Almost forgot... John sorry to hear about your finger... becareful you can get arrested for using that thing in an airport!

Good morning, all! It's warm this am, still dark outside (the downside of daylight savings time) and expected to get into the 80's today. Spring has sprung and so has the pollen! Dead [xx(] I wear contact lenses and it feels like I have sand in my eyes. Oh well, this too shall pass. Smile [:)]

John, sorry to hear about your finger. Hope it's not causing you too much pain.

Good Morning from Blueberryhill....

It's a cold 23 degrees and trying to sunshine. Going up to 55 today and we may have a lot of sun. Dark, again, this morning at 7 am.

Today, is a typical Monday. We have some chores to do around the house and later this afternoon, I will spend some time in the train room. Still putting tools away and digging out all my scenery stuff. Have to call Williams today, to order some light bulbs for the FM Trainmaster.

Well, here is the Dining Car and it's full. Now for breakfast.

Y'all have a great Monday.

Good morning all;

Well, it was dark when I woke up, and there was frost still on the window of the truck; remind me again why we set our clocks ahead.  Talked to a couple of the cattle farmers in my church yesterday and they tell me that the cattle really get messed up with the time change; and when I used to live in Indiana those giant combines had more lights than a football stadium and often were seen harvesting at night.  So, I'm still a little confused as to why we mess up our internal clocks twice a year.  Oh well.

Got some reading to do today "Theopolitical Imagination: Discovering the Liturgy as a Political Act in an Age of Global Consumerism" by William Cavanaugh. Should be some light reading in there eh? Big Smile [:D]

Brent, I've had good success using "Greased Lightnin" with their hose attaced sprayer.  Spray it on, rub a bit with a car wash brush on a painter's extension pole and then rinse off.  The back, north, side of the house is vinyl and needs cleaning every fall.

Finally getting some work done on my layout, spent time this weekend "landscaping" and putting up a barbed wire fence around the abandoned ranch.  I should be finishing up an F unit set repaint this morning for the "client".  I hope he soesn't change his mind again on this pair.Banged Head [banghead]

John - sorry about the finger.  It's not so much the injury healing but the after effects at our age.  These things become prime targets for arthritest (sp) after healing.  My left hand has two that constantly feel like they've been jambed.

Friday afternoon, I went to the dentist for my twice yearly checkup. My teeth are in fine shape. Haven't had a cavity in 15 years or so. But they aren't pretty, and I've always been somewhat self conscious about them. I asked my dentist about cosmetic options and he suggested orthodontics to start. So here I am, a middle aged guy, giving serious thought to getting braces. Let's see, I play with toy trains, am getting braces... maybe I'm really just a kid after all.

LOL, I know the feeling.  I got braces too young and my teeth are starting to crowd in the front.  But, the problem is that as a pastor braces simply aren't going to work for me.  So I have been giving serious consideration to the invisaline teeth straightening system.  They say it cost twice as much, but braces simply are out of the question.  So what other choice do I have, right.

Gotta stay away from this image now don't we....

Braces?  I have been blessed not to have needed them.  We have a heart surgeon on staff here who just got braces this past year.  He already looks like a kid and now with the braces....well, we let him off easy, but we could have some funWink [;)].  Actually, I think that more and more adults are getting braces.  Was a time when you needed a set of pumpkin teeth before you would get braces, now days, if the teeth are a little out of line, many folks are getting them fixed.

I am finally off call and hoping to enjoy the day.  I plan on hitting the gym about 11 this morning, then picking up the kids and having a little fun with them at the park.  This afternoon, I hope to get some wire work done on the layout.  Perhaps I need to hire Lisa to come down and do the scenery on my layout.  Given her photos, it is apparent that she is talented.

Have a great day,

Dennis

Yeah, my teeth are a little out of line. One tooth is slightly overlapping another in front. And I have an overbite that I've been told should be corrected. "Perfect" teeth are becoming all the rage now. I guess I'm getting vain in my middle age. Either that or it's a mid-life crisis thing. Whatev, right?

Jim,
I got braces when I was a child and the thing to do back then was remove teeth instead of fixing the problem... so now here I am 36 years old, getting headaches at least 5 times a week due to pressure on my lower jaw, my lower jaw is too small for my teeth (my two front upper teeth are 3mm wider than the average persons), and my four lower front teeth are misshapen. Now I need to have my jaw expanded (they don't have to break my jaw thank God) to make room for my teeth, have my teeth pulled forward (to correct a bad overbite), the outter edges of my two front lower teeth need to be ground down and the inner edges of the next two teeth need to be ground down.  The problem then will be that I will be two teeth short of a full mouth because of the earlier extractions.  So I can either have crowns inserted or I can get a partial bridge... phase 1 is going to run me over $5,000.00!!!!!! And my dental insurance doesn't cover cosmetic or adult orthodonics... grrr... talking to the doc today about the headaches, maybe I can get the medical ins to cover it... Confused [%-)]

Brent, are we related? Wink [;)]I have the same problems.

Laz, I'm missing 3 teeth. Wish I had them back, but that's water over the bridge. My dentist says braces can move existing teeth forward to close gaps, or implants (posts) can be screwed into my jaw. That sounds like fun! I'm going to look like Cary freakin Grant when this is all behind me! Judy! Judy! Judy!!

Good morning from a dark and warmish Chicago where it is supposed to rain. Lotsa snow still around despite the last few days in the 50s. Supposed to roller-coaster temps a bit this week. Wish it would warm up for good.

John, hope your finger heals swiftly.

Jim A and company, I'm still paying for kid's braces - one after another after another. And now the bride is thinking about a retainer. Nothing left for me. My braces didn't work very well when I was younger. It took a few years of tightening them and pain for my orthodontist to figure out some of my teeth were fused to my skull and wouldn't move. Just smiling without opening my mouth these days...
